Welcome to the Influency Podcast. I'm Hadar and this is how to Pronounce Friday where we take a confusing word or word pair. We learn how to pronounce it and how to use it with confidence. Let's get started. Hey guys, it's Hadar and this is the Accents way. And today I have a list for you. You of the top 10 words for tech professionals. What are tech professionals? Let me tell you. We have IT professionals and developers and software engineers. And I have a list because I asked my friend because I have no idea. We have big data. Developers. DevOps. Full stack. Team leaders. Automation engineers. Infrastructure administrators. Product managers. Project managers. Data scientists. Senior algorithm developer. Senior algorithm developers. So let's get started. Algorithm. Algorithm. Notice it's not algorithm. There is no O as in cat. Primary stress on the first syllable. Algorithm. And don't forget to stick the tongue out for the th. Developers. Developers. Developers. Developers. Developers. Developer. Primary stress on the second syllable. De. Ve. Luh. There is no O. Developer. No either. Developer. Editor. Here the T is a flap T and the flap T sounds just like a D in the middle of the word between two vowels. So actually you have two sounds here that sound exactly the same. Listen. The I is a schwa. The O is a schwa. So both of them are reduced and they sound the same. Listen. Ed. Editor. Not editor. Editor. Primary stress on the first syllable. This is where you go high end. Pitch Editor. Automation. Automation. I think the most important feature here is the flap T because there is no T. It actually sounds like a D. Atta. Otta. Not automation, but automay. Primary stress. Automatic automation at the end. Automation architecture. Primary stress is on the first syllable. R as in car. Then we have a K sound. R. KE ke. Like kid. Tech. Technology. Tech. Architek. Ch as in chips. Cher. Church. Bring the tongue up immediately for the R. Cher. Firewall. Who invented this word? It's so difficult. Fire. You have a Y sound there. Fire. And then the trick here is to shift from the R to the W. What's the difference? For the R, the tongue is up. Fire. And for the wall, your lips are rounded but the tongue is down. If you keep the tongue up because it's very comfortable, then it's going to sound weird and muffled. Fire. Round your lips. For the R, bring the tongue up. Fire. And then bring it down. Open your mouth for the ah. Z. Father. Wa. And then bring the tongue up again for the dark L. Fire. Wal. Wal. Hardware Software. Two things you want to remember about this. One, it's a set Phrase. So the first word is going to be a little higher in pitch and slower. Hardware. Software. The second part is not reduced. It's not hard. Were like we were working. But where? As in where are you? Hardware. So you need to slow down here a little bit. Again, not hardware and software. Take your time. Stretch the words. Open your mouth. Framework. Lots of Rs. Start with a nice strong R around your lips. Fray. A as in day. Framework. Here you have no O, so it's not work. Work round your lips for a W and then pull the tongue in immediately for an R. Work. It's a set phrase, like high school. So frame is going to be a little higher in pitch. Framework. Framework. Server. It is not. Server. Server. So here both vowels are the same. Sir as in yes sir, no S sound in the middle. Shift from the S to the R directly. Sir. And then from the V to the R directly. They rhyme. Server. Primary stress on the first syllable. Server. Ver. Ver. Server. It's a pleasure to server you. Infrastructure. Infrastructure. So before saying this word, just take a deep breath. Serenity. Now. Infrastructure. Primary stress on the first syllable. A lot of reduced syllables in frustrucure. Inf. That's it, guys. Now, how should you remember all that? For that, I prepared a pronunciation cheat sheet and audio recording. So go to my website and download those two so you can practice it every day until you say these words perfectly. Okay? That was your how to Pronounce Friday episode. I hope you enjoyed it.
