Defeat Negative Thoughts: God's Word Over the Enemy

Pastor Harry L. Pitts Jr. explains how Satan turns painful moments into lies that define identity, like "you failed, so you are a failure." The solution: replace enemy narratives with Scripture. Jesus responded to temptation with "It is written," and believers should do the same, speaking God's truth aloud to interrupt lies.

You know, I was sitting here in the studio here at our church, and we were doing some recording for social media and working on material for our upcoming broadcast. And I was thinking about how the enemy attacks our mind and how he uses these negative thoughts. And I was Saying to myself, there has to be a theological form of psychology that I can start teaching, and I will start teaching, that will help the believers of our ministry overcome every attack, every onslaught of the enemy. Because the enemy will take one painful moment and try to turn it into a permanent prophecy. He says stuff like, you failed once, so he says you are a failure. Someone left you, so he says nobody will ever love you. You're struggling today, so he says you will never recover. But pain does not have the authority to name you. Satan builds sentences Out of your wounds, listen to me, then he tries to make you repeat them so that they can become truth and reality in your life. So do me a favor, stop repeating what hell said about you and start believing what your God says about you, that you're wonderfully and fearfully made. That you're above and not beneath. You are not defeated. You are not a loser. Jesus says the truth about both you and I. When Satan attacked Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus did not argue with him. Jesus answered simply, "It is written." That is how you fight. Thoughts with the Word of God. Not with feelings, not with fear, with the Word of God. You're not what happened to you. You are not what they called you. You are not the thought attacking your mind. You are who God says you are. So open your mouth and interrupt the lie. Tell the enemy, You spoke to my pain, but my God, but my God has already spoken to my purpose, my present, and my future. And His Word gets the final word. I'm Pastor Harry L. Pitts Jr., Senior Pastor of 514 Grace Church. And I want you to know that you defeat these thoughts that are trying to enter your mind with the Word of God. Be blessed in Jesus' name.
