In this brief YouTube Shorts sermon, the speaker contrasts Elijah’s public showdown with Baal on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18) with his earlier, private period of obedience while staying with an unnamed widow in Zarephath. The message emphasizes that God’s bold strategy places the unlikely— a “stuttering” or uncommon individual— in both hidden and visible roles. The private refuge supplies the flour that fuels the public fire, illustrating that private obedience sustains grand, impossible‑odds missions. The speaker urges listeners to recognize that God can use the most unconventional people for His purpose.

Are you the one that can sustain God's purpose against impossible odds?
Toward Carmel, the confrontation with Baal is coming because this most uncommon person sustained the prophet. Ah, the fire is coming, the national showdown is coming, but before Elijah stands before a nation in 1 Kings 18, God places him inside the house of an unnamed widow. She didn't even— we don't even know her name, but she has credit with us. She has credit with me because I now know that God can use the most uncommon, the one that stutters. Right. The public confrontation is sustained by private obedience. Before Carmel has fire, Zarephath has flour.
Oh my God.
Before Carmel has fire, Zarephath has flour. Ah, before Elijah confronts Jezebel's system publicly, he lives in the house of someone from Jezebel's territory. That's right. Well, you know, God has some guts. When God— when they're looking to kill Elijah and God says, I tell you where you need to go, go to the heart of where Jezebel lives. I said, Lord, why would you send him to— send him to Zidon? He said, because they wouldn't think to look for him there. So who in their right mind would go to the enemy's territory? That's what God says. He says, I've gone to the enemy's camp to take back what he took from me. Only God is that bold. Amen.
