A devotional about the emptiness that money and possessions can't fill. The speaker says the hollow place in your life is shaped like a person: Jesus. God is a fountain of living water, while idols are leaking cisterns that give back only what you pour in.

Allow the Lord to fill all of the voids in your life. Listen to this. Cars, houses, vacations, and some of them fit almost, but almost, almost enough to you doesn't work. Almost enough to fool you for a while if you think about it. Almost enough to make you think this is it. This time I know it's different. But it never finished filling. It never will. Not because you keep choosing the wrong things, though sometimes we do, we do choose the wrong things, but because the hollow place was never shaped like a thing. It was shaped like a person, and that person is Jesus Christ. The Son of the living God. Jeremiah said, God is the fountain of living water, water that doesn't sit still, doesn't run out, doesn't depend on you carrying it anywhere. A fountain doesn't need to be filled, it fills. That's the difference between every idol you've ever had and the God who made you. The idol is a cistern. It can only give back what was poured into it. And it leaks the whole time. God is a fountain. He doesn't need anything poured in. He's a source. You don't bring something to him and ask him to hold it. You come empty and he fills.
