You’re Not Being Hidden—You’re Being Prepared

A pastor argues that God withholds authority until you're ready for it. He uses David's years as a shepherd before kingship as proof that trials build character in secret. The message: you're not hidden, you're being prepared.

Point number six: Formation always precedes authority in the kingdom. The gospel truth is God never releases sustained authority where there has been insufficient formation. Let me say that again. God, listen to me out there. God never releases sustained authority where there has been insufficient information. God never releases sustained authority where there has been insufficient formation. Excuse me, been insufficient formation. Scripture says in Luke chapter 16, verse 10, from the English Standard Version, one who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much. There it is. God knows that if he can trust you with the little things, that if God can trust you with a little suffering, God says you now have the capacity to handle much more. God says, I can stretch you and you have space to handle this. Authority amplifies what already exists. If pride exists privately, authority magnifies it publicly. If insecurity exists privately, authority spreads it publicly. God forms leaders in obscurity to protect the leader, the people, and the people they will serve. David learned to shepherd sheep before leading Israel. Formation made him safe for power. I need you to hear me. You need to start thinking about how your trials need to be reframed. If you're under pressure today, ask the right question. Ask the right question. Not why is this happening to me, but what is God building in me? Ask the right question. The Bible says in Romans chapter 8, verse 18, in the English Standard Version, for I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. God is not embarrassing you. He is enlarging you. There, there's a word, Rehoboth. God is expanding you. God is giving you capacity. He is not punishing you. He is preparing you. The sheep field is not abandonment. David was in the sheep field. It's not abandonment. The season is not wasted. You are formed by God but not forgotten.
