Even the most disastrous launch, it's not a failure. It's just feedback. It's just information. It's just something that you can take and learn from and then move forward. And the only way it's a failure is if you give up and if you stop.
This is the Doing it online podcast with your Host, serial entrepreneur, 6 and 7 figure funnel strategist and super nerd Kate McKibben, where every week we're here talking nerdy and sharing the things that actually work to help you do what you do online. But better, easier, and with a ton more profit too. Are you ready? Let's do it.
Hello. Hello, everybody. It is Kate here from hellofunnels co and welcome to episode freaking 100 of the doing it online podcast. I don't even know what the word is. Excited, grateful, kind of in a bit in disappointment, disbelief that we're at episode 100. That means that of more than almost two years worth there has been of me sitting down at this microphone and just riffing on all things marketing and automation and building your online business. And you guys have been listening to it. That's the biggest crazy thing. Like one, I'm amazed. I keep coming up with ideas and things to talk about. And two, that like every week we look at the stats and it's growing and growing and it's so awesome. And it's. I don't take it lightly that you guys are choosing my lovely nasal accent to to be beaming into your earbuds every week. Thank you from bottom my heart for listening, for tuning in. And we wanted to celebrate this episode. We're taking a slight break from our little starting your online course series. Sorry if you were playing along and you were like dying for the next one. You'll just have to wait another week to kick things off. To get you kind of in the advice given mood, I wanted to share my three favorite piece of advice that I've ever heard. And none of these are mine. These are all from, you know, other people that I've been lucky enough to come to contact with or just, you know, people that I've been lucky enough to to read their stuff on Pinterest. And my team, my amazing team, has also shared some of their absolute favorite piece of advice too. One of the first ones, the one I really love, and I'm sure you've all heard me say it a million times already. And this is actually, it's an NLP supposition. I don't even know how this falls under advice category, but it is that there's no such thing as failure, only feedback. And, you know, on the sort of the flip side that how I sort of normally say this is, everything is an experiment when it comes to your business, when. And I think having this mindset, like stepping into this mentality, particularly when things are not going as you hoped, when things aren't moving as quickly, is to remember that, like, even the most disastrous launch, it's not a failure. It's just feedback. It's just information. It's just something that you can take and learn from and then move forward. And the only way it's a failure is if you give up. And if you stop, if you keep moving forward and you use this as an opportunity to learn, then there's no value there. Like, you can lick your wounds. It's gonna suck. It's still gonna suck, but it won't suck as much as completely giving up. The second one is from actually Nelson Mandela. And I love this quote that it's always seems impossible until it's done. And I've seen this myself so many times. And I think as. Just because I've been in business for so long, but we set these big crazy goals and we set them, and even. We set them, even if we go, yeah, I'm totally going to get that. Like you. You have as much conviction as possible. It still seems kind of impossible, right? Because you haven't done it before. And whether that is, you know, it's a big goal or it's creating something new or it's what. Whatever it is. Like, whether it's in your life or in your business, if you've never done it before, it can seem kind of impossible. And then one day you will do it. And all of a sudden it's not impossible anymore because you did it. And then you go, oh, okay. And then you move on to the next thing. Just when, again, when you're having those moments and you're sitting there going, oh, this is never going to happen for me, it's taking so long. I'm no good at this. I'm not smart enough. I'm. All the awful things we say to ourselves, and then just remember that whatever this thing is that you feel like you're bashing your head against, that try and think of other times in your life, other things that you have felt were impossible, that you really, really wanted, but you're like, it's never going to happen. And they did. Remind yourself of those. Because if they can, this can too. Yeah, I love this one. This is a post it favorite this one and the third one. This is actually from a friend of mine, Denise Duffield Thomas. I'm sure a lot of you guys know her, she's amazing money mindset, mentor. But this is one she actually was. One of the first times I actually met Denise was I did one of her workshops a billion years ago and she turned and said to me about something, she goes, there are easier ways to make money. And I know this is one of her quotables. She does say this one a lot. And there's a reason because quite often we like to make things really difficult or we like to. We set up our business in a way that's based on what we think we should be doing or that is maybe it's what seemed like it was easier at the time and now a few years down the track, it's actually become a bit harder because it was more of a short term win rather than setting up for long term success. And there's definitely been times that I've needed this reminder. I am the queen of trying to over complicate things and then having to reel them on back.
And I think anyone who knows my story knows that like the very first, my very first business was quote unquote, very successful on paper. We were getting like millions of visitors. But it was really, really painful in every other sense. In that it was the revenue model sucked. The whole, the work that I was doing was things that I absolutely would never have done if someone was paying me to do them because I didn't like doing it. I was only doing them because it was in my business and I hadn't taken that time to stop and go, okay, how do I actually set this business up to be one that I actually want, that's actually going to give me the life that I want? And it's not just the how do I pay my bills this week? But having that bigger vision, being intentional about that, knowing what that is, that is really what this piece of advice is for me. And again, it's one I have to remind myself because we. Because who doesn't love to pull out a whiteboard and some sticky notes and plan out something crazy complicated, right? And again, again, and particularly with funnels, usually when you come back to it. And I've had the pleasure of seeing behind the scenes of some big ass funnels for some big ass businesses. And I'm always amazed whether it's the funnels or the delivery system or whatever it is, but those businesses that just seem to just keep growing and growing and growing and it's almost like frictionless. They are the ones who are keeping it really simple. We're sticking with the basics, mastering those basics. And it's always. It amazes me how simple they've kept it. Always coming back to that. Simplifying, simplifying, simple and sophisticated wins every time. Now I want to throw the microphone over to for my lovely team now just because everybody is in different places in the world and not everybody has that access to a quiet place to record this. They have written these out for me and I'm going to read them. The first piece of advice from my team is from Kristy, who has an amazing community coordinator. Coordinator. And she said the piece of advice she wanted to share was that you are the product of who you surround yourself with. And I love this quote and I've heard this quote in a few different ways. And there's another one where they say you're, you're the. Was like you're the average of the five people or the 10 people you spend the most time with. That kind of thing. Christie said for her this was a quote that she stumbled across that's always stuck with her when she was first starting her business. Can be so tempting to take on any and all work that comes your way just to pay the bills, which we all do and we've all guilty of, I'm sure. But as your growth allows it, you're really important to make that conscious choices surround yourself with your people. And she said she's so grateful every day for the amazing women that she gets to work alongside. We'll get a little self backpack and support as well as the beautiful souls that she's lucky enough to call her friends and family. They inspire her teacher and believe in her even when she's struggling to believe in herself, which is so beautiful and I love at the end she says it real quick. Real queens fix each other's crowns without telling the world it is crooked. I think Cristy, technically that's two, but I love them both. The second one is from Amazing Keely, who is our content producer and is basically behind anything that you can. If you can't hear me speaking it. She's probably had a hand in creating it. And she hilariously, her piece of advice is something that I've said which is that always come back to what is the simplest way that I can do this. She said that Kate says this feels very matrixy. Anyway, she says Kate says it's what she asks herself when beginning a project or a task. And as a recovering Perfectionist who holds way too many awesome ideas ransom because they have to be amazing. Always stopping and asking herself, what's the simplest way I can do this? Has been and continues to be really helpful to make progress and to get amazing things out into the world. Yes, they can still be amazing. They don't have to always be amazing, right at first. They just have to get some version of it finished and done in the most simplest way possible. And then you can add and master it from there. It has been so freeing. Yes, I'm a recovering perfectionist myself. That's probably the reason why she's heard me say this often. All right, the next piece of advice is from a lovely Sarah, who is our customer service queen. And she says never be afraid to walk a different path than others. She says this is something that stuck with me since my teenage years. Back then, we had to learn the road not taken by Robert Frost. And it was kind of refreshing to hear from my teacher who said, it's okay to go your own path instead of just following the crowd. It's okay to pick a major that's not popular as long as we have interest in it. It's okay to have a career that we love. So back then, her parents could be very persuasive in trying to get us down the path that they had chosen specifically for us. She remembers that her mum really wanted to beat her to be a teacher or a lecturer because of career stability, and now she's out there doing her own thing and absolutely rocking it. Lucky Last is from the lovely Jonah. And this is one of my favorite pieces of advice as well. And that is never, ever stop learning. Never stop learning the things that you find hard to understand. Never stop learning the things you think you've mastered, because you can always get better at it. You can always be improving. You can always be optimizing, which is what I always love to do. And, you know, it's that thing that really keeps you alive, keeps you going forward. Otherwise, we're just stuck. I love that. Jonah and Sarah and Christy and Keely, thank you guys so much for sharing. And to everyone listening, thank you so much again for tuning in for the last 100 episodes. I hope you found a little bit of something inspirational from our little top pieces of advice. We're back next week, guys. I said with part three of our Creating your Online Course in 2022 series. And we'll see you then. Bye.
