Hello guys, it is Kate here from HelloFunnels and welcome back to the Doing It Online podcast. Today I am going to give you a really, really actionable email template that you can use to help you to plan out awesome email content. This is designed to not just help you create better content, make sure you're ticking all the boxes that your content needs to tick, but it's also designed to be the thing that you reach for when you're having one of those and you're like, I've got to write my content. Oh my gosh, I can't think of what the heck to write. This really simple little structure is going to solve all of those problems. So you ready? Let's dive right on. In.
Email marketing, we all know how important it is. We all hear people, I'm one of them, talking about how you need to build a list. Need to build a list. But it's not just about building a list. You need to then nurture that list. You need to then create engagement and connection and provide value to that list. And let's be honest, if you've had a hard week, you're in the middle of a big project, maybe you're planning a big promotion, you're creating a new program or offer, you're writing a sales page, whatever it is, the thought of then sitting down and coming up with something that people would actually care to read, it can be a bit overwhelming, if not exhausting or just really demoralizing. For my own sanity, I created a simple structure that you can use to plan out your emails each month. And it's been a real lifesaver me, like, I don't always use it, I don't always stick to it. Sometimes I'm just like, oh, we've got this idea, I want to use it. But on those days, weeks, months, whatever it is, where you're like, I just need a plan, I just need something to follow. The inspiration is not with me today. Reach for this template and you know, trust me me, it's going to make your life so much easier. Plus, just as a general rule, following and using these four types of content that I'm about to share with you is even for the months when you are feeling inspired, these are good things to make sure you are having a touch point of as often as possible and are rotating through first thing you're going to do. As I said, this plan is for four emails to go out over a month. And usually what I would do is, is I would pick a topic. So for example, maybe that topic is email marketing. So then go, okay, for this month, I'm gonna be talking about email marketing. If you have a promo or something coming up that is related and connected, then you're going to want to tie and choose a topic that's related. But if you don't, if you're just like, you know, nothing particular in the calendar right now, I just want to do something that my audience is going to love. Think about one of the most popular topics, one of the topics that always gets a good response. Choose that topic and away you go. So then with that topic as your umbrella topic, you're then going to have a set four different types of emails. And those types of emails are a value email, an inspiration email, an aha email, and a connection email. And I'm going to give you some examples of each. And so basically what you want to do is just on a piece of paper, write down your topic at the top, then write value on one line, inspo on one line, connection on the next line, and then aha on the next one. So what you want to do is choose one of these ideas and maybe bookmark this podcast to come back to anytime you're wanting to plan this out. So for your value emails, some ideas, and I always find value is probably one of the easiest ones to come up with, particularly if you've picked a more practical, overarching topic. It could be a roundup of previous posts, videos, other content you already have. So it could be like, here's my five best posts I've ever done on email marketing. Go back and have a read and you've surely missed some of them. Very, very simple, very, very valuable. Or it could be a roundup of resources. It could be like, these are my five favorite books about email marketing. Or these are the five best tools that I recommend for people with, you know, to use for email marketing. Another type of value content which is really easy to come together is actually just resharing a related opt in bribe that you have or lead magnet or other sort of freebies. So, you know, these are people on your list, they've already opted in. You don't really need them to opt in again, but why not share this great resource? So like, hey, I've got this checklist or I've got this template, you know, I love you guys, you're my VIPs, you're on my list. I want you to just have it and, you know, bonus tips if you can set it up so that they just have to click and then they get sent it rather than having to go and re opt in again, even better. Next for the value is to share a little doable, a little short thing that they can go and try. So whether it's a little strategy, it could be a recipe, it could be a formula, it could be step by step, it could be like, hey, here's how you make your green smoothie. A subject line formula. Go try it, see if it increases your email open rates. Like something really practical they can go and do. So that's three ideas for value. So you just kind of go, which one of those feels right, fits best in with this sort of umbrella content? Next we have the inspiration posts and these traditionally again and easily are usually sharing a client's story or a client testimonial that is related again to the umbrella topic. So if you've got a client who, you know, keeping the email marketing theme in mind, I might share about our lovely client Lonnie, who when she had 75 email subscribers and with a couple of months she had 750, because remember, we always want to make sure these are still valuable. So the purpose of these emails is to inspire, to help people go, oh, that sounds like me, I could do this too. And to give them a little tidbit of something like this is kind of, you know, what Lonnie did inside the program. So they're still getting something usable, something valuable out of it. Next is connection. This is the one that, to be honest, I find, particularly if you're feeling a bit uninspired and uncreative, can be the trickier one to come up with, but one you want to take them behind the scenes. So this one you want to maybe show like I went on a hike this weekend and I had this thought and you know, those kinds of things. So sharing something from your own life, something that maybe happened previously that's related, something that you're trying, something that you're excited about, but just giving them a little, you know, chance to sort of hang with you. Like, you know, the people behind the brand. It doesn't have to just be you. If you have a team, you know, you can talk about things that your team's doing or that you're as a business doing, but it's just that bit more relatable, bit more behind the scenes. And then the final piece is the aha. And this is where we want them to really go. This person does things differently. This is why I am on their email list. They have a point of view, they have a unique perspective. I agree with that, you know, it's the kind of, you know, it makes sense to me because that's how you kind of get that extra buy in from people and how you kind of stand out in a very, very crowded market, which most of them are these days, for an aha. Again, there's a couple of different ways that you can do this or structure it. One is just to get up on your soapbox about something. Like, what is something about this topic that, you know, really annoys you? Or that, you know, you know that a lot of people say that you should do this thing, but you know, that thing is actually outdated and it's damaging. You get on your soapbox, have a bit of a rant, or even if you can't think of anything to have a rant about, just think about, like, what are some of those really common mistakes that you see clients making about this topic? And pick one. It could even be Q and A style. It could be. This is a question I get asked all the time by my clients, and this is the answer. So it's giving value, but it is helping to show your own way of doing things. And then one of the other ones. And I call this sharing your magic tricks. And we talk about this inside our programs a lot. Everyone usually has one or two things that whenever you share it with people, they kind of go, oh, wow, oh, I've never heard that before. Or, you know, you know, that people get really excited about. And it can be a whole range of different things. Like, it could be something that would otherwise fall in the value category. Like, maybe you share a particular formula for doing something. Maybe you share a statistic that not a lot of people know about. Maybe you share something, like from, like a screenshot of your own results on something, or a piece of your own story, but just something that, you know, whenever you share it, that, like, the ears perk up, people get excited. Or people like, I've never heard this before. This is amazing. And we start to collect these magic tricks. The longer we've been in business, the longer we've been sharing content and teaching and sharing different things, we start to notice that thing was gold. That thing was a magic trick. I'm holding onto that, remembering that when I'm going to use it again. So think about if you have any type of magic trick. Like an example that I remember, and the first time I kind of became aware of this concept of the magic trick was years and years and years ago, I was speaking at a conference here in Australia. This was back when I was teaching people about monetizing blogs, and I put up the formula that I used for how to calculate how much you should charge to do sponsored content. The slide came up, and every single camera phone in the audience came up. It was crazy. So I was like, oh, okay, that thing, which seemed really simple for me because that's just how my brain works. For a lot of people, that was really, really answering a question that a lot of them had and doing it in a really simple way. So that is something I would class as a magic trick. Other things that we've used is like getting people to calculate how much their funnel could be making them stu like that, because, again, it just gives people something tangible that they can do or something that kind of just makes a shift in their thinking and makes them. This is really cool. I want to do more of this. So that would be your magic trick. So those are the four categories, guys. You've got your value, you've got your inspiration, got your connection, you got your aha. All you need to do is pick one of the subcategories for each, sit down, fill out the details, and all of a sudden, you got a whole month of prompts, and you, if you were chatgpt inclined, like, this is what we like to do with our clients. When we get them to plan out their emails and their content like this, they then get, you know, it then spits out the prompt to go put into ChatGPT, and then they can actually have ChatGPT, like 80% write the whole thing for them. They go in, they judge it, and then all of a sudden, creating that content is so much easier, so much faster. So that's probably a good time for me to jump off. Anyway, guys, I hope this has been helpful. I hope you. You go and use it. If you do, tag us, let us know at hello funnels on Instagram or let us know in the comments. Love to hear all of your stories about how you're implementing this in your business. Have an amazing week, guys, and I'll see you next week. Bye.
