#243 - How to make sure your sales are RELIABLE in 2025
7 Dec 2025 · 0 min
Kate McKibbin argues that online-business owners need reliable, predictable revenue before chasing growth. Pick one sales method for one offer, study 5-10 competitors' ads in the Meta Ads Library to find what converts, then run at least six repeated cycles at a consistent schedule.

When I say the term reliable, I am not meaning that there's never any fluctuations. That's not the way the world or the business works. What I mean is that instead you have a baseline that you can count on 99% of the time. You know that with like a really good level of certainty because of the things you set up, that this is going to be the outcome that you get every day, every week, every month. And therefore for the year.
That word for the year that you've chosen for 2024, it's pretty much trash. The word that you need is reliable. I know it's not sexy, but it is going to completely change the game for you. And inside this episode, I'm going to explain why, exactly how you can get it into your business now.
Hello, hello guys, it is Kate here from Hel Funnels. And welcome back to the Doing It Online podcast. Now this week's episode we are talking about one of my favorite things in online business and that is the very, very unsexy term reliable or reliability. You know, whichever works better for you. Because I personally believe that after the craziness that we've all experienced, which kicked off back in 2020, so, you know, it's been a ride. Guys. I think this is the word that if you have haven't picked your sort of, you know, your theme of the year or word of the year yet, or if you have, I would definitely ask you to possibly reconsider it, that this should be the word, this should be what you are focusing on. Because who wants to have another 12 months of feeling like all you're doing is throwing spaghetti at the wall, right? It's all guesswork that you're constantly trying to play catch up and reacting to what's going on. Wouldn't you rather wake up every day and go, I know what I need to do today and I know how much revenue I'm probably going to make today and I know exactly what I need to do to hit my goals. And just to have that sort of like stress, you know, removed, to not be constantly checking bank accounts and things because, you know, like, you've got your numbers, you check, there's just a couple of them you focus on and you know exactly how to reverse engineer your goals and you know that what you have, it just works. It's a well oiled machine, right? Isn't that what we want from our businesses? Doesn't that make it feel a lot more like a business and a lot less like just a crazy hobby that just never ends? So if this sounds like something that you'd be interested in diving into this year, then this episode is absolutely for you. Okay, guys, so before I start to break down how exactly you can start getting some real reliability happening inside your businesses, I want to put a caveat. Because when I say the term reliable, I'm not meaning that every single day you make a hundred dollars, there's never any fluctuations. That's not the way the world or the business works. What I mean is that you have instead you have a baseline, you have a I never earn less than amount that you can count on 99% of the time. Yeah, you might have the odd blip, but you know that with like a really good level of certainty because of the things you set up, because of the things you have in place, that this is going to be the outcome that you get every week, every month, and therefore for the year, once you have these couple of pieces in place. So that's what I mean by reliability, guys. I don't mean concrete, but I mean stable and steady. And while, you know, other types of businesses who don't have these pieces in place will have wild fluctuations, you will have some soft waves. Okay? That's the difference. And so again, as I said, if that sounds like the kind of business that you're happy to get behind right now, then take a deep breath. Let's break it all down. So there are two main areas you need to be focusing on in your business. If you are currently not hitting the income goals you want to hit in a reliable way. One is the size of your audience, so how many eyeballs or ear holes are hearing or seeing your offer. And the other is how you are selling it. I definitely believe that the one you should focus on first is, is how you are selling it. That should be the number one thing you focus on and the how you are selling it. What you need to do is I want you to try and throw away the whiteboard with all the crazy complex stuff. If you don't have a way to sell your offers right now that you can rely on, that is consistent, that you go, look, anytime I do this, I know that I get this result, then that is going to be your focus, number one, and probably for the first 90 days of the year until you have this figured out, and then you can kind of move into phase two of this plan. So what I want you to focus on here is, like I said, get rid of the complex whatever on your whiteboard. What you are wanting to find is what is the simplest, most reliable and easiest to repeat way for you to sell your main offer. So pick one offer. If you've got a suite of them, pick the one which makes the most sense. I would usually recommend that you look at the one which has probably been the easiest to sell in the past. Like, why make things hardest for ourselves? Or if you don't have an offer yet, that's great, but you need to pick one offer. I'm not going to talk about what that offer is. We've got previous episodes on that. But you can pick one offer and then you're going to figure out, okay, what is easiest to repeat. Most reliable way I can sell this. That is the only thing you need to be focused on until you check this box. Okay, so how do you do that? Right, Like I'm just going to tell you to go off and do this thing, which obviously isn't super straightforward because otherwise everybody would be selling their offers easily every time. And that's clearly not the case. So what is the easiest way? What's the cheat guide here? Okay, well, that's what I got for you. So what I want you to do to figure out, like, what method should you be using to sell your product, your offer, your service, your course, whatever it is? There are so many out there, right? There's like long running ones, there's, there's live ones, there's evergreen ones. But you need to figure out one type of sales technique, one type of conversion mechanism. There's lots of different names for it out there. Whether it's, you know, webinars, whether it's, you know, an email sequence, whether it's a phone call, whatever it is, you need to find one that works well for you, for your audience. And I have said a cheats guide for how to figure that out. What you're going to do is you're going to go and see what everyone else is doing. So I know you're going to hate that answer because we're all creative beings and we want to get out there and do things that are original and, you know, that are new and shiny and fun. But if you don't have this box checked, then the new original stuff, that playtime stuff, that is for later or maybe never, because, you know, most of the time it doesn't really work. If you want reliability, if you want stability, if you need to check this box, then you need to figure this out. So my task for you, I'm all about doable stuff, right, guys? That's why we have this podcast, is I want you to go and find five to 10 people in your industry who seem to be doing well. Obviously, it can be hard to tell. People can seem like they're doing well and actually be a nightmare in the background. But I'm going to give you a way of being able to tell that as well. So you're going to find 5, 10 people who are in, you would say, probably a similar phase of business. If not, maybe one or two phases ahead. I don't want you going if you say, I've got like 300 people on your email list and a thousand people following you on Instagram, I don't want you to go looking at those accounts that have got like millions or even hundreds of thousands. Because the choices they get to make are based on a very different set of metrics than the choices that you were going to make. How they can get people, you know, an audience, how they can communicate with a larger group of people is very different for them versus someone who's still in the definitely building audiences phase. So go and see if you can find people who are in a similar band as you, if not like the next band up. But don't go anyone, you know, way down the path because there's just too many other things in play that would make that work for them, which means that probably won't work for you. So that's the first thing. Go find those people. Easiest place to look is Instagram. Okay, Usually go. Once you find one, you can probably go and look and see who's following them. It's not hard. You'll probably get people suggested to you as well. So go find them. Then I want you to go and see what are they doing. Like, scroll back through. Is there a method, a way of selling that they, you know, seem to be doing? Make a tally sheet if you want to say what is the most common method of selling their programs and offers here. Now, one other caveat I will put in here is you want to make sure that they have similar offers to you. Okay? So similar audience and market who are a similar stage of business and who are selling similar offers successfully. So if you've got a $300 offer, look for people selling between you 200 and $500 offers, not people selling like $37 offers or, you know, 5K offers. You want to find someone who's in that same again, same band and just have a look. Is there a trend there? What are they consistently doing? What are they doing again and again? Because usually if they're doing it more than once, that's usually A good sign that it actually works. Like not many people will do something over and over again if it flat out doesn't work for them. Another way to tell if something actually is working is, is once you've found you know those people is to actually go and you know, you can say it's a bit stalky, but I just call it market research. There's no crime in it. And it's actually every big business and successful business does this. So don't feel bad about it. But I want you to go over to the Meta Ads library, just Google it. The link will come up and I want you to find their accounts, their ads accounts in there and it will actually show you if they are running any ads. Now again, if they are very beginner stages, they may not be running ads, so this might not be relevant. But if they're, you know, been around for a few years or a bit of a mid stage business or higher, they will most likely be running some ads either to live things or to what they've got going Evergreen. So you're gonna go, you're gonna look up their ads and again this is just gonna help you to see what are they putting their money behind, what are they investing in and better yet, have a look at if they have any ads they've been running for a long time, so more than a few days or a few weeks. Because again, there's another indicator this is working. They wouldn't keep running ads and keep spending that money if it wasn't converting well for them. So hopefully that little bit of market research is going to help you find. Okay, what is that one thing, what is that method that I'm going to now really focus on? And once you know what that is, my next suggestion would be to go and find someone who can help you skip over the guesswork at the start and go and actually like, you know, join a course, join a coaching program, get a mentor, find someone who's done it successfully, who can help you because that's going to speed everything up a hundred times over. You can always DIY it, you can Google and guesswork it as well. But you know, I think we all know that just takes a bit longer. But again, up to you, whether you want to do things faster or you don't want to invest the money, you'd rather invest the time because you've always got to be investing one or the other. Okay, next step. You now know the, the thing you now need to master, the thing you need to, you know, try out, probably test and Tweak a few times. So what I want you to do is get out your calendar and I want you to decide on a frequency that makes sense. So if they were doing a live challenge, maybe you're not going to do that every week, but if they were doing a webinar, maybe you could do that every week or maybe you could do it every two weeks. Obviously, the more often you can do it, the better because that's going to give you more opportunities to make sales, more opportunities to practice, to tweak, to refine, to get it. Amazing. And I would recommend that you commit to having at least six cycles of whatever this thing is in the shortest period of time that you can. So once you've got those in your calendar and know that obviously the first one you do is going to need a bit more setup time. But after that you're repeating the exact same thing. So you shouldn't need as much setup time to repeat it, because that's the whole thing. We want something to rinse and repeat. Guys, the next thing that you need to figure out is, okay, how am I now going to get the people going to get the eyeballs into this thing? Because obviously if you're doing the same thing over and over, you can't just be inviting your list and your existing audience. You now need to start going out and going broader and finding new people to bring in and go through this process, whatever it is with you now.
