#297 - 3 Reasons Your Sales Have Slowed Down (And How to Fix Them)
20 May 2026 · 12 min
Kate McKibbin breaks down three reasons sales plateau: audiences tune out repeated offers, you're not generating enough new leads, and you're relying on one revenue stream. Fix them by refreshing your offer with urgency, building a constant lead-generation system, and layering multiple revenue engines together.

If your sales have slowed down lately, I want you to know something first. It is probably not your fault. It's also probably got nothing to do with the market, and it's probably not that your offer is bad or that your content isn't good enough, or you need to be posting more often, or you need to be hustling harder. In most cases, when I look at a business where sales have slowed down, it comes down to one of three very specific, and very fixable structural problems. And today I'm going to walk you through all three. Because once you can actually diagnose which one or which combination is happening in your business, the fix becomes really obvious. So let's get into it. Hey there, I'm Kate here from Hello Funnels and welcome to the Doing It Online podcast. Now, the first reason that your sales may have slowed down is what I call a freshness problem. Sounds a bit grosser than it is, I promise. And this one is particularly sneaky because it tends to happen to the people who've actually done everything right. So you followed the advice, you honed your offer suite, right? You kept things simple. You've got one or two really solid offers and you've been promoting them consistently. That's what you're supposed to do, right? That's the dream. Except here's what nobody tells you about that approach. There is a point where repromoting the same offer to the same audience in pretty much the same way actually starts producing diminishing returns, not increasing returns, diminishing ones. Yes, people need to hear about something multiple times before they buy. That's real, but that's not the problem here. The problem is when they've heard about it multiple times, they still haven't bought, and you just keep showing up in their feed with that same offer, same bonuses, same structure, same pretty much everything. At some point, their brain just starts blocking it out. It's like nose blindness. You know when you can't smell your own perfume, but a total stranger can? Your audience has gone nose blind to your offer. And no amount of posting more or running more ads or trying different launch strategies to that same group of people is going to fix that. So what do you do? You create what I call a why now moment. A why now moment is exactly what it sounds like. It is a genuine reason why someone should join or purchase right now, not 6 months from now, definitely not next launch. Right now. And the good news is you don't have to burn everything down and start from scratch to create one. You don't need a completely new offer. You need to make what you have feel new, fresh, and specifically relevant to this moment. And there are a few ways to do that, and they're all easier than you'd think. So one is to create a new version of the offer, you know, a 2.0 or a 3.0 version. And before you panic, I do not mean re-recording everything. No one's got time for that. I mean going in and adding a couple of high-impact tweaks, maybe a few new trainings, updating something that's become a little outdated, making some small but potent tweaks that let you genuinely say, this is the newest and the best version of this program because now it actually is. Another option is adding strategic bonuses. I personally love this one and we do it all the time. So not random bonuses for the sake of it, but bonuses that solve the specific timely problems your audience is dealing with right now. The problems that feel urgent today. Those change over time and the bonuses you currently have may not be that relevant anymore. Which could be a big part of why your offer is feeling stale and the conversions are not coming in. Or if you've got something that's traditionally been self-paced or DIY, you could run a pop-up live event around it. Maybe it's a sprint, an implementation challenge, live coaching week, or just one live call where people can come on and you're going to review whatever it is they're creating. Something that creates a container and a deadline and a reason to join now rather than someday. These are all really simple ways to give your existing offer a genuine freshness injection without having to rebuild your entire business from scratch. Keep it simple. Keep the offer suite lean. Just give people new, unique, and exciting reasons to say yes today. Okay. The second reason sales slow down is a lead flow problem. And this one is directly connected to the first. They really go hand in hand because here's the maths that people aren't doing often enough. If you are showing the same offers, yes, even a slightly updated offer to that exact same group of people over and over again. And every time you do it, a slightly smaller percentage buys. Eventually you run out of people who haven't already said no. It doesn't matter how good your sales page is. It doesn't matter how beautifully you've optimized your funnel. If the pool of new people entering your world is too small or nonexistent, your results are going to get progressively worse over time. Not because there's anything wrong with your offer or even how you're selling it, but because you're working with a shrinking resource. Now, a lot of coaches know they need to grow their audience. Unfortunately, most advice around this is based back in 2022. So what are people doing? They ramp up content. They start posting more consistently. They try to get more reach, or they think, okay, I'll put some money on ads for a few weeks before my next big launch or campaign. 6 weeks out, they run some lead gen, grow the list a bit, then hit them with the launch. And that can work, but the timeline problem is real. For a lot of people, particularly if you're selling mid to higher ticket offers, the average time from someone discovering you to actually buying can be 6 to 9 months. Yes, there's always a small portion of the market who would come in and they're ready to buy now. Those are my favorites, but the majority of people who buy from you, they need a bit more time. So if you only turn the traffic tap on 4 to 6 weeks before a launch, you're mostly selling to either people who've already seen your offer multiple times, or that very small percentage of buy now buyers that you've attracted in that time. And then a massive amount of people who just aren't ready yet and probably won't be for another 1, 2, even 3 campaigns. Because those fresh new leads you just brought in, most of those people aren't ready yet. They haven't had enough time to warm up, which means what you actually need is a constant flow of new people entering your world, moving through that know, like, trust factor, warming up and constantly refilling your pool of ready-to-buy-now buyers. Not a spike before a launch, a constant and growing stream. But here's the part that makes most people's— and here's the good news. That constant lead flow doesn't have to be a constant expense. In fact, when it's set up correctly, it should fund itself. That's the part that changes everything because if you're spending money to bring in leads and those leads are buying something right away, like a gateway offer, then the cost of your ads is being covered by the buyers coming through. And suddenly you're not paying for list growth out of pocket every month. The funnel is paying for itself and growing at the same time. Even if you don't have an evergreen funnel behind it and you are just doing regular launches, you still need this system. This is the mechanism that lets the big names in your space seem like they're always visible, always growing, always adding new people, and yes, always profitable. It's not magic. It is infrastructure. And the other thing that changes when you have this in place is your timeline to buy. Because when someone comes into your world through a paid gateway offer, They've already made a buying decision. They've already had a taste test of working with you. That compresses the time it's going to take them to buy your next thing significantly. You're not waiting 6 to 9 months for a free lead to warm up anymore. You're working with someone who's already a buyer, who's already seen what you can do and wants more. That one-two combo, constant self-funding lead flow plus the the right sales system to convert those leads quickly is what makes the whole thing work. Okay, third reason, and I think this one is probably the biggest mindset shift of the three. If you've been watching people in your space posting 5-figure weeks, 5-figure days, and thinking, how are they doing that? What am I missing? Here's what's probably going on. They are not doing it from a single source of sales. Almost no one at that level is. And when I look at most coaches' businesses, I see two camps. The first camp is doing live promotions only. A launch, a live challenge, a live anything, and then when it's done, silence. And then there's a second camp. There are the coaches who have decided they're done with live launching. They've heard that funnels are the answer, so they've gone all in on building one. They are evergreen only, and they are spending enormous amounts of time and energy trying to make that one funnel work. Tweaking sales pages, testing emails, adjusting ads, split testing button colors, getting incremental improvements here and there, but it's still feeling like they're pushing uphill. But here's the thing, both of these camps have the same underlying problem. They're trying to build a business on a single system, either one live promotion at a time or one funnel they're trying to make do the job of three. And the ceiling on a single system like that is just that, it's a ceiling. No matter how hard you optimize it, you're going to hit that limit of what that one single income stream can do. The coaches who break through that ceiling aren't doing it by working harder on just one thing. They're doing it by layering something live and something evergreen running at the same time. Then over time, definitely not all at once, you add in multiple evergreen engines stacking on top of each other, each one bringing in a slice of revenue. Each slice on its own, not wildly impressive, but together, that's where the big numbers come from. You don't build it all at once, of course, that would be madness. You start with one properly built revenue engine that actually runs. Your first piece of the Silent Selling System that generates consistent results on autopilot. And then you build from there because that first engine gives you the proof, the cash flow, and the confidence to add the next one. The one you add compounds on top of what's already there. That's how you stop having a business that resets. Every time a launch ends, or one that depends entirely on a single funnel that you're constantly trying to perfect. And you start having a business with real depth, stability, and profit. So if any of these three things resonated, the freshness problem, the lead flow problem, or the one-dimensional selling, know that all three of them have the same underlying fix. A system that brings in fresh buyers consistently, converts them quickly, and doesn't depend on you to keep it running. I've got something coming very soon that addresses exactly this. I'm not going to say too much yet, but if you're listening to this and thinking, yes, that's me, I need that, make sure you keep an eye on my Instagram. Details are dropping very shortly, and I think you're going to love it. Alrighty guys, I'll see you next week.
