#57 - Q: How often do you need to launch to hit 6 figures
7 Dec 2025 · 1 min
Kate McKibbin argues most course creators shouldn't wait for big annual launches. Instead, run smaller promotions every 60 to 90 days. It reduces stress, builds momentum, and gives prospects more chances to buy without needing huge ad budgets or perfect certainty upfront.

Until you have any of that certainty, having a once or twice a year launch strategy is just, it's not going to be something that I would ever recommend.
This is the Doing It Online podcast with your host, serial entrepreneur, 6 and 7 figure funnel strategist and super nerd Kate McKibben. Where every week we're here talking nerdy and sharing the things that actually work to help you do what you do online. But better, easier and with a ton more profit too. You ready? Let's do it.
Hello.
Hello guys, it is Kate here from HelloFunnels Co and welcome to episode 57 of the Doing It Online podcast. Now today is another Q and A session, like a mini coaching session just between me, you and everyone else listening. But say I wanted to answer again one of those questions I see people asking again and again and going round and round in circles with and I think usually getting wrong. And it's one of those things that I really see when you do get it wrong, it really, really impacts how quickly you're able to grow, how quickly you're able to get momentum and you know, and all of the things that that trickles down into for your online business. So what are we talking about? Well, today's question is how often do you need to be launching to hit six figures with your course? And I can't wait to dive into that with you. But before we do, I just wanted to share something super, super exciting with you because the doors are open right now for our six figure school which is a six day live workshop. And better yet, for the next two days only, tickets are just $33. Yep, that is half price. We blew people's minds last time we ran this workshop. Seriously, the feedback was amazing and I still get messages from people sharing the amazing results that they've gotten from implementing the simple step by step process that I shared. So we are super excited to be running it again. And it all kicks off on August 9, Aussie time. So there'll be August 8 for pretty much everyone else. And you can grab your Tickets today at HelloFunnels Co School and they are half price. Like I said, that is that early bird special price is ending very soon. In fact, depending on when you're listening to it, it may already be over. So make sure you head on over to hellofunnels Co school right now, grab your tickets and I will see you inside. Right, you've done that. Hit pause, go do it. And once you have, let's dive on into today's question. So like I said, Today's question is all around launching and that finding the right amount of frequency, I guess, to be launching for you and your business. Because there's one thing I see that happens a lot and that is when people are coming into, you know, they're a course creator or they're a coach and, and they're looking around for someone to model. They're looking around at some of the big names in the business and they're like, hey, Marie Fogle, she launches once a year. That person there, they launch twice a year. So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to launch as often as them because they're like the best in the business. They have these amazing multi bajillion dollar launches, right? And I want to have those too. So I'm going to do what they're doing. The problem is that usually particularly as a beginner or someone who's still getting their momentum, you don't have the resources in place or the years and years of experience in place that these guys do for that strategy to really work. So what I mean by that is just to give you an example is when you look at, you know, someone like Marie Fogle or whatever and her once a year big launch, you have to look that launch that she puts together, you gotta believe that their team is working on that for pretty much the whole year because all their revenue is based on it. You know, they are. She's investing money throughout the year in testing ads, in testing copy in, you know, in the best of the best people coming in. Because when you have like a once a year launch, you literally putting all your eggs in one basket. So it has to work. So, you know, and she's kind of feels confident enough to do that, to invest the money in getting amazing copywriters, in spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on Facebook ads to make sure it's she, that copy that she spent months testing and perfecting is getting in front of enough eyeballs to be able to get the sales figures that she wants. She feels confident doing that because she knows how well what percentages she converts that she knows that messages that people like, she know, you know, she's got enough experience under her belt that she can do these things that her, her once a year launches, she's got them down. And it's not just her, like everybody, and obviously everyone has good ones and bad ones, but she's honed and perfected and mastered her craft of launching over, over a period of time that she is able to, you know, to feel confident enough putting all, you know, all those eggs in one basket. For most people getting started, though, that is not the case. So where I see it being problematic for people when they're like, oh, I'm just gonna launch twice a year, or I'm just gonna launch once a year, is that, you know, it does become this crazy stressful thing. And all of a sudden you are, you know, you put so much pressure on it. You're relying on it so completely for the wellbeing of your business. Like if you're, if you're only getting an influx of revenue into your business once or twice a year and one of them goes badly, it can completely derail your business. It can be the thing that shuts you down. And the stress of that just, that alone is reason why I'd say to people until you know for a fact, you know, with obviously allowing a margin for the error and stuff either side, but until you can say, hey, I know when I do this, this happens. So there I know exactly how to, if I want to hit 100k on my launch, or 200k or 50k or whatever, I know exactly how to do that. I know how much money I need to spend, I know what things are going to convert at, and I know I've done it before. Until you have any of that certainty, having a once or twice a year launch strategy, it's not going to be something that I would ever recommend. And there's other reasons as well, apart from, apart from the stress factor and the pressure factor. Because I truly believe that when you are trying to do stuff and trying to create in an environment of that much stress and stress, sorry. And pressure that you're not going to be able to do your best work, it's not going to be enjoyable and you are going to end up getting adrenal fatigue or something like that and just being a mess. So my recommendation for people is probably a little counterintuitive, but something I see as actually being less stressful because I think that's a reason again why people look at that once a year, twice a year, launching and like, yeah, that, that sounds ideal because launching sucks and it's stressful and I want to do it as infrequently as possible. Right. Like that's the other reason behind it. But I've actually found it to be a lot less stressful to launch more frequently. And the reason for that is, well, firstly, like I said, if you're having smaller but more frequent launches, there's a lot less pressure on them because you're like, hey, well, if this one doesn't go so bad or sorry, it just doesn't go as well as I wanted, I've got another one not that far down the track. And, you know, I can take the learnings from this one and I can make that next one even better. So that's great. But I've also found that it's, you know, when you are getting started and your email list is not super huge and you don't have big ads, budgets and things like that, it's also, you know, it's more likely that you're going to get more sales but just spread across in little chunks with these more frequent launches than how many you would get. Again, if you're like, okay, I'm betting the house, I'm betting my business on this, this big launch, but I've only got a small audience. It's kind of like this, this cumulative effect of being able to. Because you are showing up more often and because you are giving people these multiple opportunities and none of them, like I said, it's not the all singing or dancing launch. This isn't a launch where you're, you know, not for everyone. You're not going to be doing webinars and challenges and all kinds of things. You might pick one or two of those. But because you're showing up more frequently to a smaller list, it just seemed to work better. It just seems to give people more opportunities. You're going to be more likely to meet them at the time when they're ready. But in the meantime, there's been all these extra opportunities for people to interact with you and to engage with you and to get excited with you about something that's happening live for. It's given you all this extra content and fodder to be showing up on stories and doing reels and things and just going out there and getting a buzz happening. And that helps to bring, to increase your momentum. So that's the other thing that I recommend versus showing up once or twice a year and then just going quiet in between it. I think it's really, really beneficial, particularly for those people who are still growing their list, growing their audiences. They're still kind of trying to find that momentum. Showing up more frequently is just going to help with that. And it has a cumulative effect as you go along. I've also found it really beneficial and we've tested this, we've tested different frequencies of launching, but I've also found it really beneficial for your funnels like you guys know, that's what I'm all about. But anytime, you know, once you have your funnel set up and running in the background. But first of all, that's going to help to alleviate a lot of this launch stress anyway. And that's why I love them and that's why I teach them. But to help those funnels do even better, having these roughly every 60 day would be my sort of recommendation. 60 to 90, I would do it. Or somewhere in between, showing up online, doing something live, having some kind of online event that you can be talking about and getting people excited about and giving people a touch point or something beyond the just standard weekly email, that stuff just helps to increase the connection, to increase the excitement, to increase momentum. And it all flows on. It helps you. Then your launches do better than your funnels do better. And when those things start both doing better, it becomes this amazing little like ecosystem that just makes things grow faster and faster and faster. Long story short, slightly too late, but my recommendation, absolutely for those who, if you haven't hit six figures yet in your online courses and even if you have and it's like low six figures and you're wanting to scale, is to have a look at creating a promotion plan or a launch plan that is really more suited for where you are in business. Yes. You know, you can aim for and strive for and go have that. Okay, one day I would love to have the, you know, the twice yearly launch or something like that. And I would love to have honed my launching craft so much in that time that I know I can do that. But then again, you might get there and go, actually, hey, this is, this works for me. This is, this is really profitable. This gets me all momentum. Maybe I don't want to do that. And there's lots of big names out there as well who are launching, who are still launching every 60 days, some even more often. You guys all know I'm all about creative business, that that's going to work for you. And for some of you might be going, oh, 60 days. It seems like a lot. So my advice would be for those who don't want to miss out on those benefits of having those more frequent touch points and more frequent online events and things like that, is to sit down and go, okay, well, how can I do this in the most effective way? It's still going to give me those benefits, isn't going to stress me out, isn't going to be, you know, something that leaves me huddled in a corner rocking back and forth. And you absolutely can do that we're launching. You know, we teach that inside our programs. It's one of the things I talk about inside our six figure, six figure school life workshops. If you haven't got your ticket for that, make sure you do that. You know, there are systems you can put in place, there are strategies you can put in place with your launches to make them as stress free as possible and make it so it's totally possible for you to be doing more frequent little launches, little events, things like that. And that is going to really, really help to move you along, help you to get that momentum, help you to grow your funnels, help you get more sales and help you to start hitting those six figures and beyond. Which is why what I know you all want, which is why you're listening to this episode, right? So if that all sounds exciting to you and you're like great, I'm going to do that. But what else, what else do I need to do to get that six figure point? I want to take you through a step by step plan to not just make more profit, but to make more sales, full stop of your online courses and offers than ever before. And that is exactly what we walk you through inside our epic six day live workshop, Six Figure School. And as I said, it all kicks off on August 9th. And inside it, I'm going to walk you through a six day intensive hands on experience which is going to be super fun as well as super valuable to show you exactly what you need to do to market and sell your own six figure plus online course in 2021. So it's like I said guys, it's gonna be super valuable. So much fun. Grab all the details and grab your ticket. Currently half price at hellofunnels co school.
