#74 - Mini promos to smash end of year goals
7 Dec 2025 · 0 min
Kate McKibbin shares quick promotional ideas to drive end-of-year sales: short live challenges, low-cost trials, extended payment plans, bundles, 48-hour launches with first-buyer incentives, and 12-Days themed sequences. Most are one-off, time-limited offers that can launch now and deliver in the new year.
So what if you offered like a super bundle? What if you actually bundled up all your programs or a couple of ones that sort of made sense to be bundled up together and you sold them at an amazing price that they're never going to be able to get otherwise. And again, something that maybe you do once a year, but this is going to give you definitely more bang for your buck with your sales because it's going to be a much higher price point. So it's probably more profitable for you as well.
This is the Doing It Online podcast with your Host, serial entrepreneur, 6 and 7 figure funnel strategist and super nerd Kate McKibben, where every week we're here talking nerdy and sharing the things that actually work to help you do what you do online. But better, easier, and with a ton more profit, too. Are you ready? Let's do it.
Hello. Hello, guys, it is Kate here from hellofunnels, and welcome to episode number 74 of the Doing It Online podcast. Today's episode, we are going to be getting all excited having a big virtual brainstorm session with you for you to help you come up with one killer idea that's gonna be one mini promo, something small but powerful and impactful that you can do to really kick off this year with a bang. And by kickoff, I mean, like, end it with a bang. Obviously, we're still, we're not, we're not quite into 2022 just yet because I know, like right now, I know there are two type of entrepreneurs out there and neither is wrong. And I have been both myself within days of each other, to be honest. But I know some of you listening to this episode are like, oh, my gosh, no, just shush. Like, the year's almost over. I'm so done. I just want to cruise. I want to start taking my foot off the gas. I'm getting into holiday mode. Let's just decorate a tree or start binge watching the summer, the Christmas specials or just start eating our weight in Santa shaped everything. And like, don't talk to me about business. I'll think about that next year. And if that's, if that's you right now, then I am super duper happy for you. Turn off this podcast. My gosh, don't listen to business things right now. Go get yourself some Mariah Carey going. Get into something comfy, pour yourself something sparkly and just relax. You've had a big year. We all have. You deserve it. If, however, you are the other type of entrepreneur right now who is like looking at either their to do list or their goals and going right. I've got this number of work days left until the end of the year and I'm going to absolutely squeeze the freaking most out of them that I can. This episode is for you. You. So grab a pen, let's dive on in and let's. Like I said, let's just have a bit of a brainstorm around some ideas of how you can smash your end of year goals. I'm going to be super like as always guys, I'm keeping it super actionable, super practical and I'm basically going to be sharing of my favorite types of mini promos. Like these are just small little things that shouldn't take a long time to either set up, to promote, to create, to run. Like these are just big bang for your buck kind of promotions that you can do for your business. Now depending on where your business is, what type of niche it is, what kind of clients you have, some are going to be better fits than others. So just have a listen, keep an open mind and see if any of these really jump out at you as something you could do, do something. Last little thing you could squeeze in to get a little bit of some extra sales, some extra oomph happening in your business this year. So first up is something I love that people run at the start of this year. And again, just a little caveat guys, you can promote and sell these and if it's something that's gonna run live, run it live in the new year, that's also totally fine. Or you could just plan it to be in the new year if that's gonna work better for you as well. Don't feel like you necessarily have to squeeze it into the next couple of weeks. But one of the things I love for this time of year is some kind of get shit done challenge. Depending on what type of market you have, you're just setting out even a 14 day, 30 day, even a 60 day, if you were super organized and could get in a time machine, go back in time and have this for a month ago. But some kind of live challenge and all it is is designed for people to come together to get some accountability, to get excited, to set some goals and to kick some ass together. Like super easy to set up, super easy to deliver and can be really, really impactful for people as well. Another type of little offer or program that you can create like whip up really quickly at this time of year is something around setting goals or planning. So again it can be done at the start of the year or the end of the year. Which means you can promote it now or in Jan, or promote it now, run it in Jan, either works fine, but this is the time of year it doesn't matter if you're helping people to grow their businesses, helping them to get healthier, helping them to plan their classroom schedules. You know, there's so many different niches that this applies to. But it also can be such a nice like celebration for people to come together with other like minded people, do some kind of like online event where they're getting to, you know, all have some fun, plan stuff out, get inspired, share wins, get pumped up and excited and really honor the year. That was as well. Another great little mini promo I love for this time of year is offering a trial into your programs or into your, you know, your courses. So this again is only, this would only work if, for certain types of programs, like if you can sort of break off a little piece and that makes sense. And also it's only going to really be powerful if you don't do it too often. Like you're going to be like the like hey, this is a one time year thing we do for those people who've been thinking about joining our program. But you know, you kind of are one of those, you know, got to see it to know how good it is type of people. And you, so you want to have a little taste test. So we're going to give you a chance to give a taste test and you make the price like just undeniable, like something people cannot say no to. So it would be trial might be like a seven dollar trial where they get seven days of access to a certain piece of your program. Something like that, like just something that people would be crazy not to say yes to. And then of course you have it set up that if they don't cancel that trial and you obviously communicate this really clearly that they can then you know, basically automatically be upgraded at the end of the 7 days, 30 days, 14 days, whatever kind of makes sense for you and for them. And then they'll start on a payment plan of some sort to pay for the remainder of the program and they'll unlock full access at that time. So again, another way of kind of getting those people who, it's such a low investment, it's so low risk and they've been like thinking about doing it, putting it off. It's, it's a way of going out there and making it super accessible to them. Another offer type that I love at this time of year is off going out and offering a substantially longer payment plan than what you normally do. Again, obviously longer payment plans have their own downsides. But if this is something that you only do once a year, that's not something you do all the time. Particularly around this time of year where people are. I know a lot of people think that people don't buy things for themselves around the holidays, but they absolutely do. I know I'm sort of a like a one for me, two for me, one for you kind of person when I'm doing my Christmas shopping. But regardless of that, no, people do still invest, but they definitely feel that they're a lot more aware of how much they're investing at this time of year. For some, you know, for some people they can be a lot more price sensitive. Just make it easier for them like if they're wanting to give themselves a Christmas present, basically you're going to again just take away some of the reasons that it's a bit too difficult. Just make it super easy, give them an extended like a 12 month payment plan or something like that and just. Yeah, they can work really, really well. Another similar option, and I know we've talked about this one before, is offering a the option for people to pay in their home currency. For example, if you have a program and you charge in US dollars, but you've got a big percentage of people who are maybe in Canada or the UK or they're in Australia, you can set up and run a promotion directly to that segment of people and say hey, you can purchase in your home currency. Then you have to worry about the exchange rates and losses with that and particularly to payment plan, you don't have to worry about the exchange rates fluctuate. Fluctuating, sorry. So that can be another really, really beneficial one and again works best if you don't do it too often. Another option for a super easy mini promo to kick off the end of the year is if you have a look at your programs and offers that you currently have. Just like have a little bit of an audit through the things like workbooks, templates, swipe files, scripts, any of those other little like digital file options and assets that, or resources that you include in some of your programs and maybe you can bundle some of those up and it's just like a little taste test almost of your program. Like they're not getting the trainings that go with it or the support or anything like that, but it's an option for them to sort of come in and get a little quick win and then of course, you know, if that stuff's really valuable for them, then you can obviously have a couple more emails afterwards if you choose, inviting them to continue and upgrade into the full program. Kind of the reverse of that where you know, that's kind of like breaking off a little small piece and having like a just a little low taste test offer. This way we're going reverse, we're going all in, we're going to go big. Think about if again, as long as it makes sense for your offers. But for a lot of you, I know you have multiple offers, right? They can be addictive. We creating one course and all of a sudden it's 13 courses later. Speaking from experience. So what if you offer like a super bundle? What if you actually bundled up all your programs or a couple of ones that sort of made sense to be bundled up together and you sold them at an amazing price that they're never going to be able to get otherwise. And again, something that maybe you do once a year, but this is going to give you definitely more bang for your buck with your sales because it's going to be a much higher price point. So it's probably more profitable for you as well. Another mini promo that we love, and it's one we actually just ran ourselves, is what we call a waitlist promotion. And a waitlist, it's, it's almost like running a 48 hour launch. So it kind of means that you can really just compact, you know, that's compacted in time wise, it doesn't have to drag out. It makes it much, much easier for you and your team. And particularly if you've got a short time period like you're trying to get something in before the end of the year, they can be really great. Usually what we recommend when you want you run, sorry, a waitlist. Try saying that 10 times. First promotion is that you're going to, you have said to go out for like a week or so beforehand, promote that you're going to be opening up this waitlist, it's going to have an amazing offer. You do have to put a pretty decent discount on it for it to actually work, usually at least 30%. And again you probably, if you're looking at which programs to offer a waitlist for, you're probably going to want to look at programs that with the discount is going to be $500 or under. Otherwise there's not always quite enough marketing muscle to get it over the line. But if you have something that you can put a nice discount on it, it's Going to be under 500 bucks. Then you just, you go out, you promote that waitlist, get everyone excited about this offer, and then you open the doors to the people on the waitlist for 48 hours only. Like, it's just, it's the mini est of mini promos, and they can work super, super well. And one of the things that we really love, and we didn't make up this strategy, I originally learned it from my friend Alex Baden, and I know she got it from somewhere else, but where you offer the very first person to purchase gets their money back or some other amazing bonus, we also give a cash bonus on top of getting your money back. It means you literally have people lined up online when your offer opens, like, wanting to be that first person through the virtual door. And that's kind of fun. It has like this, like, element of like, it's like a people are winning or it's a game or it's like a celebration. It's great. So we find, like, particularly times of year, like now when people are just wanting to do stuff a bit more fun, that can be a really great piece to add into. And speaking of fun, one of my last recommendations. Well, actually, my last recommendation for, you know, for the mini promos that you can run to end the year with a big old bang is, and this is for people who do have a bit of a back catalog of different things you can offer. But running like a 12 Days of Christmas promotion, that is, where basically you offer a different offer each day for 12 days, whether it's there's an extra bonus or there's a discount or maybe break off and they can just purchase a little bundle on its own. Or maybe you take all of the things that we've talked about today and you make them their own offer. Although probably not that many if you do that. But if you can, if you have a lot of little offers and you can come up with a bunch of different ways to either discount them or incentivize them and just have one offer a day for 12 days. Again, it just kind of gets into that kind of festive spirit. It can be really fun and it can get you really great results too. So that's it for this episode, guys. It was a short but mighty one. I would love to know if any of these mini promo ideas got you excited. And if you're going to go out and give them a try, let us know how they go. We always love getting real life feedback from you guys. So tag us over at hellofunnels. Let us know which one is really speaking to you or even if you are still listening and you are in that more cruisy end of year mode. These are still promos that can be used at other times of years of course or something you might pop in the calendar for end of year next year as well. Either way guys, hope today was super useful. Hope you loved it. Make sure you come back next week. We've got something a little different for you. I can't wait to share it with you then.
