Kate McKibbin outlines three signs you're ready to build funnels for clients: you already work with people who have online offers and are building lists, you actually enjoy marketing tech, and you're ready to charge more for strategic work.

But it is such a simple step, simple thing that you can offer them that will immediately improve their business. Like it's almost mean for you not to do it.
This is the Doing It Online podcast with your Host, serial entrepreneur, 6 and 7 figure funnel strategist and super nerd Kate McKibben, where every week we're here talking nerdy and sharing the things that actually work to help you do what you do online. But better, easier, and with a ton more profit it too. Are you ready? Let's do it.
Hello. Hello, everybody. It is Kate here from HelloFinals co. And welcome to episode number 94 of the Doing it online podcast. And today we are of course talking about what I always love to talk about. Funnels. Hopefully by now you all know that I truly, truly, almost inappropriately love funnels and that it is my mission to help hundreds, if not thousands of amazing humans to make a bigger impact in the world by freeing them up from their sales and marketing so they can do what they were meant to do. And for most of the people, that's not sales and marketing, that's actually going out there, that's helping people, that's using their knowledge and their passions to go out, help more people make a bigger impact so that they can live better lives. And this ripple effect comes on like, this is how I see funnels changing the world. Okay, might sound a little egotistical, but I truly believe it the way I do this. I do this with funnels. I do it by helping people to create their own funnels, by making it as easy as possible, helping people to know what funnels are, know how they can help them know which funnels to be using and which ones they shouldn't. But the thing is, guys, I need help. I need people to help me on this mission. I need there to be more people out there who are. Who love funnels as much as I am, who know them inside out as well as I do. And who better yet can help build them for people? Because weirdly, not everybody loves the nerdy stuff as much as I do. And some people just don't want to build their own funnels. They want someone else to do it. They want someone to take it off their plate. And I'm all about staying in your zone of genius. That I think is probably a good thing for most people, but it's more than just finding someone who can knows how to set up a simple automation or make it an email, go drip out day by day, or even people who know how to grab a whiteboard. And some markers and map out this crazy complex spider web of a thing because anyone can do that. What I'm talking about is I need funnel pros. I need people who are awesome at the strategy. They know what works again and again, what's working now, what's happening in the market, how to change, how to. What trends to ignore and what tried and true things will work again and again. They also need to know how to set up. They need to know the intricacies and the nuances of the different platforms and just really, really love creating amazing results for their client. This is what I call a funnel pro. It is a term that we have created. This episode is really designed for the funnel curious out there for the people who perhaps dabbled in a little bit of funnel building or you're thinking about it and you just wonder is this right for me? Should I add funnel building or funnel building service to my service business? And maybe you're an obm, maybe you're a tech va, maybe you're some kind of marketing service preneur, whether that is helping people to set up their websites or do Facebook ads or helping them with launches. Maybe you're on someone's team or maybe you're working more invoice to invoice. This episode is for you. If you have ever been tempted or even if you have attempted to add funnels or create funnels for your clients. Like how do you know when you are ready, when it's the right time for you and your business to add funnel building so that it's going to make that positive impact, help you to get what you want, not just make more hassle, more trouble, more stress. How do you know when it's the right time? That's what this episode is. Let's start off with this really three ways. Three simple things that you can just do a quick mental checklist of right now. I'm going to run them through and then you to know that yes, adding funnel building, adding this extra service into my business is going to help my business to grow. It's going to help me to get where I want to be and it's going to be a relatively non painful thing to add in. It's going to make sense. It's going to be something I can add in quickly, simply that's going to elevate my business, help me create a better service. The first one, and this is one I think is a very, very clear indicator for a lot of people, is that you're probably already working with people who need and Want funnels. If you think about the kind of services that you're already offering, whether you are building and designing websites, whether you're creating ads, whether I said you're already helping to schedule people's emails, you're helping them with their content, you're helping them to create marketing plans, whatever it is you're doing, usually those people that you are working with, while a lot of them might still be focused on launches, they might still be trying to find their perfect launch before they get around to doing funnels. These are people who, if they selling something online and they have an offer that sold before, then they are ready and their business is ready for a funnel. It's usually this when I sort of speak to people who are thinking the others who are on the other side, that your clients who are like, oh, am I ready for a funnel? Rather than this episode, which is more for people who are looking to build funnels. Am I ready to build funnels? The two things that I always say to people, if they're thinking about whether or not now is the right time for them to add a funnel into their business, is number one, do you have an online offer that can be sold that people can buy anytime and have you sold it before successfully? Like if you've got an offer and you launched it to your list and one person purchased, maybe now's not quite the time, maybe you need to go back, work on that offer. Because the best funnel, the best launch, the best marketing, as you guys should already know it will not sell an offer that had been mastered, been set up to hit those points that it needs to hit so that the market understands what it is, it's priced correctly, they want it, they, they're excited for it, and then therefore it's easy to buy. Number one, do they have an offer that sold easily and is it something that people they're going to be able to offer all year round. And then the second thing is, are they already doing any form of list building, any form of promotion of their business, even between, like if they are that sort of more traditional style of online business where perhaps they do a handful of launches throughout the year, usually still in between, when they're not launching, they're still creating content, they're doing podcasts, they're doing email newsletters, they've got opt ins that they might be sharing, they might be going out on other people's podcasts, they might be just generally list building, they might even have Facebook ads running to one of their list builders. If they're doing Any of these things. And they do not have a funnel. They are essentially losing money because they have people coming into their business, percentage of which are ready to buy right now. That's why they listened to that podcast or they googled and found that article or whatever it is. Like they were searching for a solution. They took that first little step, made that micro commitment of jumping onto the email list going, awesome. This person sounds good. It sounds like they might be able to help me. Hopefully they've got something that I can buy or, or something that I can jump into right now. Because I'm looking for a solution now. If they don't have a funnel, if your clients don't have a funnel, those people that are there that have like, they're already getting their credit cards out, like, okay, show me, what do you got? I'm ready. They're not getting anything. They're being told, hey, wait for three months when we launch next time. And they're not going to. If they need a solution right now, they're going to go out and find one from someone else. I always think it's like, it's just like setting cash on fire. Which I know might sound a little extreme, but if you, if your clients already have that kind of business, they're already doing any of those things. They have an offer that sells and they are actively promoting themselves, list building in between launches and they don't have a funnel, they are losing money. If you can come in and slot that in for them, get that again. It has to be the right funnel, has to be set up the right way. It has to. The funnel type has to match their offer, match their business, all that kind of stuff. It's not, not just about whacking any old funnel in there, but it is such a simple step, simple thing that you can offer them to that will immediately improve their business. Like, it's almost mean for you not to do it. That's number one. Do you already have people that you work with who need this and who you can help even further? And the other thing with this point is that if you already have clients and they've already worked with you and thought this person's great, of course they're going to want you to do it for them rather than go and find somebody else. Like, it's usually, it's always better that it's always better to work with someone who you've worked before. You know what they like to work with. They give good service. It's so much. And for you as the service provider, it's always so much easier to book a second job with a client rather than to go and find a whole new client. Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. Number one, like this, probably the biggest one of them. The second one is the second way to know that you are ready to build funnels, ready to add funnel building to your list of services is do you love this stuff? Okay, like that's really important. Do you like playing with the tech? Do you get excited when a new tech comes out or you hear like one of the, your favorite tech. And yes, you will have favorite tech if this applies to you. When you hear they've got a new service or they're they're adding a new feature or something like that. Do you always put your hand up when tech goes, hey, we're looking for some people to beta test something because you just want to be one of the first ones in there. And it doesn't have to be all tech. Like usually everyone has their own preferences. But if you are a bit nerdy and you love playing with the tech side of things, then you'd be crazy not to look at funnel building because this is one of the nerdiest things that you can do. You get to play with all of the tech and it is so much fun. And the third way to know if you are ready to take that next step in your business by adding funnels is do you actually feel ready? Like, are you ready for this? Because the thing is this is not just about adding another bullet point to your, the info sheet that you send out to new clients or new to when you get a proposal. This is about being actually ready. Because this is a step up. Okay, when you, as I said, when you step up and embody all of those things that I said, a funnel pro is like, that's not just about, hey, sure, I can automate a couple of emails for you. This is about stepping up to that next level. Saying, I'm going to step away from being just the doer, just a little task monkey. I'm going to become this real strategic advisor. I'm going to be the person that my clients can trust to give them the best advice to point them in the right direction, to point them away from the wrong direction, to help make this process as easy, as seamless, as stress free as possible and to help deliver them amazing results. And when you step into that, when you're delivering this premium service, that is this combination of the strategy, the actual tech setup and a little bit of extra secret sauce like, of delivering this amazing service People are going to be lining up around the block to work with you. But you're. And when this happens, you literally gonna have, you're gonna have all of these like, mental things come up. This is when all the imposter syndrome comes up. This is when. Because it can be such a big leap for people. Like, we've had students who've gone through ASS certification program who doubled their prices initially and felt terrified to do that. And then one of the students, she shared with us, it was quite funny, she doubled her price, she went out, she shared this new price with a prospective client and they came back and said, you should double it again. Like, what you are going to do for me is so valuable and is going to make such a big difference to my business. I would happily pay double again what you just did. Like, can you imagine, like, if you sit down and think, oh, if I was to not just double, but double again my prices, how would that feel? Would that terrify you? Would that bring up some, like I said, some imposter syndrome, some. Those annoying little voices at the back of your head? Of course it. Sorry. This is why I think this is not for the faint of heart, really, that you have to be ready for this. You have to be ready to have your business jump up to that next level and to mostly deal with the internal stuff that is going to 100% come up when you start showing up. And as this. At this higher level. And to do this, obviously it's not about just doubling your rates. Guys, please never just do that. I am. Regardless of what your offer is, how you're offering it, I really believe that whatever price you put on your offer, it has to feel good. Like, it has to resonate with you, has to resonate with your clients. If you ever price something and you don't truly believe it is worth that, then it's going to come across and people are going to feel it and they're going to be like, oh, I don't believe it's worth that either. It has to feel good. So it has to feel like slightly scary because most of us undercharge, but it still has to feel in the range of belief for you. That's why I think it's so important that if you are, if you're nodding along to this, if you're like, yes, I am ready to do this, yes, I am ready to increase my prices, yes, I'm ready to step up to that next level of business, that it's not just a, like a literally go and swap out some digits on your, your rate card that you do take the time, take the steps to make sure you have the skills behind that, that you have this, the confidence that go skills behind it. Because that's where those pieces will come together. That's where it makes a difference. That's where you get to really jump up into that next level quite quickly and do it without too much of the scary nagging little voices coming up and getting in your way. Guys, if you are nodding along right now, I feel like yes, I am working with those clients already. I really love this nerdy stuff and I am freaking ready to step up and to to go to that next level with my business then. And you'd like to start learning and you'd like to get started ASAP learning how to take those next steps, how to start creating amazing funnels, how to start building that those skills and that confidence and how to actually package up your offers.
