Finding a job isn't as easy as it seems.

Hinesh Chauhan explains how estate-planning law firms can use cause-based sustainable giving to align companies with charities while reducing taxes. He argues that visible examples and incentives, not mandates, drive cultural change in organizations.

I guess to a degree it's selfishness where you're not looking around understanding what else is going on. You're just living in your happy bubble in living in excess and meeting, okay, well, I'm employing people to manage my $200 million house. So maybe that's their contribution to alleviating some challenges just by being able to employ people. But I wish there was the stronger desire to, to use what people have to support others. And there are again, incentives. It's all about incentives. Using sticks, not carrots. So how can I start using carrots, not sticks? And, and how can you incentivize people? And I'm working with a, the largest estate planning law firm in the US to create something called cause based Sustainable giving where we help companies align with their culture and to be able to create a foundation for a cause that they believe in. So not only does it align the business to, and everybody in it to the same values, but is making community impacts. And the incentive there is is being able to, to lessen the tax burden, but then using what would go out in taxes to, to go out in creating meaningful impact within their community into the cause that they, they truly support. Because that's the culture within the organization. And, and then that breeds just this wonderful work culture realize. Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
So I think this will shift. You know, as, as we talk about this more and as different organizations start, start taking steps to, to cause good, I think others will be looking around and will be motivated at a guilt or shame to, to make a change. So I'm hopeful and as you said, hope is, hope is really important. So a few years ago I, I think I'm starting to lose faith in humanity. And then it's shifted because as I go out on my mission, which I'm relatively new into the, the wonderful, amazing humans I get to connect with like you and others as I share my, my mission and my vision and purpose is, is bringing the right people into my world. So that's really restored my faith and humanity. And I'm here thinking and seeing that the, the pendulum starting to swing in the other direction. So we're headed into, into a time where people want to create, create positive change.
I think there's more people looking to create for themselves too. I think that's a big shift post Covid. I think so many people saw how quickly whatever they had could be lost the jobs and, and, and so much more and they want more stability and they know that if they're in the driver have a better chance at that I think that's a wonderful thing, too.
