Getting good referrals depends on timing and tone. Ask when someone is willing to help, and qualify your candidate first. In the UK market especially, people distrust fake job postings and candidate flips, so they spot insincere outreach immediately.
What's been the most consistent way to get referrals?
So obviously everything has a time and a place, so make sure you judge it by the tone and the pace and making sure you can tell if they're going to do you a favor or not. Because if you're having your first ever candidate qualification or client qualification and you're like, oh my God, so who else do you know that you're gonna refer me to?
They're gonna be like, okay, pee off, like, I mean, particularly in the UK market, people know the game, right? Yeah, they know the candidate flips, they know. Yeah, of course, the fake jobs, they can see through those. Like, I know we didn't— Rebecca, you wanna I know you want to find out where I'm interviewing so then you can get your best developer in there and I don't get the job. Like, people see through this shit.
Yeah, but the thing is, you know what, I've never actually, um, especially now more so than ever, I've never found it difficult to get leads. But it's also because time and a place, time and a place, time and a place, tone, time and a place.
