The biggest source of customer value comes from uncovering what you don't yet know about them. Foster inquisitiveness, especially in junior staff, to dig deeper into customer needs and motivations. Curiosity can be trained as a skill.
So if you're not being inquisitive of a customer and you think you know everything about a customer, I think where the value is, is more in the what you don't know about the customer more than what you do. I think that inquisitiveness is something that we really push within all of our juniors, even our senior people, a lot around our juniors to really understand and find out what's going on within an organization and why would they be talking to you.
Do you think that can be trained?
100%.
100%. No, because I always run into that. And I think now as well with like technology and AI, like in terms of seeing the information in front of you, that's going to become more and more accessible. But it's like having that ability to connect the dots and go, Dan told me this, which is why I'm now going to say that to so-and-so. That sort of commercial connecting the dots.
