The excerpt is a monologue by a single speaker describing how an automotive-focused business expanded into adjacent markets — moving from traditional ICE vehicles to EVs, electrification and battery technology, then into energy storage, hydrogen and renewables; broadening into industrial and defense manufacturing (including repurposing plants during COVID); and diversifying across technology areas such as ADAS, autonomous systems and semiconductors. The speaker emphasizes retaining the company's "automotive DNA" while creating new niches and transferable manufacturing and product skills.

So when we looked at auto, auto went from kind of traditional automotive, which was very internal combustion engine, to now what we've seen over the last few years, fully fledged EV. So that took us into electrification, which took us into battery technology because that's the cells that are going into the vehicles, which then led us into energy storage, which now builds out our energy practice, which is battery technology, energy storage, hydrogen, and parts of renewables. Similarly, when we looked at manufacturing during COVID auto plants were then being rectified to be able to produce ventilators. So from that standpoint, the same candidates that you can use from a manufacturing standpoint can go across industry. So that pushed us into industrial, and now with the boom, it's pushed us into defense. So that's our manufacturing business. And then we diversify from a technology standpoint because from an auto standpoint, it was very ADAS-driven, autonomous driving, which leads into other areas that could be agriculture, that could be different areas of autonomous vehicles. Um, which led continuing semiconductor because that goes from a car to an iPhone to a laptop, whatever electronics you have from these cameras to be able to work. So now we've got manufacturing, energy, and technology, and we've been able to keep the automotive DNA within that because they've all been kind of— if you looked at a spider diagram of all I've been here, these are all adjacent industries that we can still keep your DNA. And for us, that's been able to further diversify us as experts but build new niches for individuals from a product standpoint. But still keeping what we have from a skill set standpoint.
