A recruiter reflects on the emotional swings of the job and why you need someone you trust completely to talk to about it. Having a confidant at work makes it easier to process the wins and losses over drinks.
I did have this towards the end of my recruitment career is who's sitting next to you on that roller coaster? Who are you talking to when you're down and who's experiencing it when you're up as well? Because you need someone. It can be out of work, it can be a partner, it can be a friend, but who are you completely honest to about this roller coaster that you're on and the ups and the downs? And I was lucky enough to have mine in work. Usually when I'd go out for a drink or want to go out for a drink, and because they're on that roller coaster with you, it makes it easier to speak about the issues that can come along at a certain period, certain time.
