Digging Up the Wells of Anointing | Ron + Hope: Unfiltered

A conversational episode of the Ron & Hope: Unfiltered YouTube/podcast where Hope and Ron Carpenter discuss reintroducing supernatural, Holy Spirit-led practices across generations. They describe the motivation for a new "Transfer" conference (presence-driven, space for the miraculous), share formative prophetic/encounter memories, contrast generational attitudes (millennials, Gen Z, bridge-generation), and give logistical details for the May conference and young-adult gatherings. The episode also includes sponsor ads (HelloFresh, FastGrowingTrees).

Hello, everybody. It is Hope and Ron. Ron and Hope. Unfiltered. Real. I said Hope and Ron. Unfiltered.
Real Way. Everything else is relevant. This is the only thing that's wrong.
Don't start.
So everything else is in our life.
That is not true. Your name's first on our checking account.
I'm not talking about perfunctory. I'm talking about in reality.
Oh, yeah. Okay.
I'm not first on anything. Ron, you're first in all things. You're the preeminent in all things.
Emma.
Yes.
Who made me that way?
I made you that way. Okay, I did it.
So what you fussing about?
So you're spoiled rotten. And I did every bit of it. I did every bit. Every single bit of it.
You did.
I even. We sat down this morning and was drinking coffee. After I hugged you, sat you down in your seat, gave you your blanket, gave you your blanket and went and got your coffee. Excuse me. Then after you had your coffee, while I was rubbing your feet, I sat and told you how beautiful and oily your hair was this morning.
Didn't you? You did. You asked me if my hair had gotten oilier over the years. I said, what does that mean? You said, I don't know. It just seems like it gets oilier quicker.
You washed it yesterday and the day. It was wet.
It was not wet. It's not wet right now. It's dry.
You use that stuff called dry shampoo sometimes. What is that powder?
Basically, it's powder. It's real cheap. If you'll go.
Sounds kind of nasty. Actually.
Johnson's and Johnson's baby powder. That's what I use.
It's white.
Put it in my hand. My hair's blonde. I just put it in there. It works.
Once you wash.
Takes too long.
That means it needs soap, not powder.
Wash it and dry it and curl it. It's too much.
You don't have to curl it and all that stuff. Just wash it.
It's just too much.
You can wear it like that. If you just wash it. Just wash it.
It's fine.
Look down.
It's fine.
You don't have to do anything. Leave it wet and do it like that. Just comb it wet. Put it back in the thing like that. I told you. I said that means it's healthier.
What?
When your skin is oily and your hair is oily, stuff, it don't break off. You don't get wrinkles and stuff.
So let it be oily.
I did. I gave you a compliment. You said, I think it has. It used to take two or three days before it would get, like, wet, but now it's about 24 hours. Yep. But I never understood the dry shampoo thing is like, why don't you just wash it? If you need to put powder on it, it probably means you need to wash it.
This for when you're in a hurry and you don't have time.
But don't it smell? You know, a smelly head stink, but a head that needs to be washed, it probably don't smell good, does it?
You smell my head. Does it stink?
I lost weight today, didn't I?
Yep. You said you lost.
I started at 2. 22.
Why are you sucking in when you're talking about it?
I didn't know I was. You were 222. Last time I weighed, I was 209. You got fat today. I was weighed. Was muscles. I just lost a lot of muscles. Lost a lot of muscle mass.
Oh, my God. Okay.
I lost a lot of muscle mass.
Okay.
But now 205, those are like. That's almost like college weight. That's back to college.
This right here?
Yeah. But I'm so much smaller. I'm not. I don't know. I'm used to being bigger.
No, this is much better. I like it. I like it a lot.
I don't know. I don't want to be small. You remember that time I lost a lot of weight one time back around 2010? And Chase came. Chase came to me. He said, I don't want my daddy to be small.
He said, I'm used to my daddy.
I'm used to my daddy being big. I don't want my daddy being small. I remember that. We gonna talk about generations today. We're not doing a conference.
I'm talking about my green fingernail.
We're not doing a conference plug. But, guys, we do have this transfer conference coming up. I don't really want to know that.
I went into the worship and arts office and Bella had cupcakes. And I just did like that to the icing. And it was green and it stained my finger and my fingernail.
Because the Lord didn't want you to get away with that because you're not supposed to be doing it. So he stained you with.
I didn't need a stained you with it. I just did the icing scoop.
But anyway, we got a conference coming up, and it's unlike any hope that we've ever done. All of our conferences, we try to get heavyweight speakers, pump people full of word Let them leave encouraged. Know something you don't know. Grow to a level you haven't grown before. Go do something you hadn't done before. But this is the first time. I mean, all of them, we want God to move. I've never had a conference where I didn't want God to move and expect him to move, and he did. But I don't know if any of them have been what I call presence driven, where this is not a preach a thon. This ain't trying to bring together. Yeah, this is not really what that's at. We do have two or three people that are going to be speaking, but it's not built around that. In fact, it's built around really giving space for God to move and believing for the miraculous. And the reason that we have done this is because. Well, let me back up. Our red worship and our worship arts department came to me. It did not originate with me. They came to me and asked me, you know, they saw the need for it in their generation. And I said, tell me more about what y' all were thinking as they talked about it. Because we weren't going to do any conferences this year because we're doing a lot of organizational flowchart changes, a lot of software changes, our church administrative platforms, system upgrades, and it's just a lot. And we were going to give everybody kind of a break and take a year and get better. So when they came to me, I'm like, well, we weren't planning on doing anything this year, but we had something here called Steve and Lori did, I think, Encounter night. And then we had the Red Nights, which was basically the same thing, just different people doing it. I mean, the very first one had 700 people show up to worship. The next one had 1100 people show up to worship. And you and I kind of said, you know, is something happening here? You know, you don't have to be too bright to know that that's not normal. 1100 young adults getting in a room.
Demographic.
Yeah, getting, oh, by far, by far. I may have been the oldest one in the room that night. There are 1100 people coming to worship for two hours. And there was no food, there was no games, there was no fun, there was no pizza blast, nothing. It was worship night. And they gave up their Friday nights to go worship God. Right Intently and unabashedly, passionately. No holds barred, no restraints. We're just going to get in here and chase God and see what happens. And one or two of those nights ended in powerful, powerful moves. I remember God ministering. You know, I remember one time we called up people who were locked in lifestyles they didn't feel like they could get out of, and people locked in struggles they couldn't. I mean, what God did was amazing because when God shows up, anything can happen. And so you and I just kind of like, look, you know, you ain't got to be totally prophetic to know maybe something's happening here. So we decided to have this conference and we called it Transfer because of something that it's not a criticism, but you and I believe that every generation has its strengths and weaknesses. And we believe that, starting with the millennials, there was some things spiritually that may have gotten lost because other things were valued over it. And the Bible does talk about re digging the wells. And although God is I'm going to do a new thing, there are sometimes there are things that got lost that shouldn't have gotten lost. And I think that's the two that I'm trying to bring together. This conference is the generations where real mantles can be passed from one generation to another.
From one generation to the next.
The possibility of something new, a move in a way we've never seen God move before, but also a re digging the wells of glory and of anointing, of ministry, of miracles that almost one whole generation has gone through and not seen. Any of which hurts my heart. And so I've been talking about this in some of our podcasts with David and Nicole, some of our podcasts with Ty and others. So by like, well, don't they have anything else to talk about? Yeah, I do. But you're hearing a passion that's coming out of me that I want everybody to have. These experiences that formed and shaped me and you into who we were. And I know I'm doing all the talking right now, but I just want to set the groundwork for the next 15 or 20 minutes. And, you know, what is it that has got lost and what are the wells that we need to re dig and pass from one generation to another?
Well, before we do that, let's just go to our first ad. And I'm so grateful for the people who love us and believe in us and support this podcast. And HelloFresh is one of our favorites.

You talking about food? You done got me all messed up.
Generational transfer.
I want to ask you something. Two memories you have. Youth camp or last year of a spiritual experience that reshaped you?
Absolutely.
A spiritual experience.
I have so, so many really, because our heritage is rich growing up in the Southern Baptist Church.
But we're talking to people who've never had these.
I know, but I'm telling you, I had a lot of encounters in the Southern Baptist Church. I really did. And then we went to the Pentecostal Holiness Church, went to youth camps. There was a lady named Kathy Sandlin who impacted me as a young girl. I was, you know, 15, 16 years old and she was there every year. I remember praying for us, prophesying to us, and that really created the hunger for, for the supernatural.
Now you're talking to people, Hope, who've never had a prophecy, never heard a prophecy, and may have been taught not to believe that it's real.
Some people have, maybe some people haven't. But it really, I mean, she spoke right into the season I was in. Spoke right into the Season that she saw that God had for me. And it's all come to pass.
She saw me when she was 15.
Yes, yes.
She told you. Hold on. Showed on this blonde guy. He's on the way.
No, she didn't. Nope. But I knew I was called to ministry, and she confirmed it. And I remember those powerful times around the altar at youth camp really stirred up something on the inside of me that made me hungry for more of that. Another time was, I was 15 years old, my mom took me to these ladies meetings in Montreat, North Carolina, and we would go every summer. And I just remember at 15 years old, seeing those ladies up there preaching and how powerfully anointed they were and how they ministered to people and how accurate they were prophetically and, you know, praying for people. And I remember sitting in that audience saying, I'm going to do that one day. I mean, that wasn't in my own ability. That wasn't anything I was. Had ever done before. But I knew that that was what my future was and many, many, many more. But you asked me for two, and those were young. I was 15 years old, 16, when this happened.
We've had many prophecies. We've had a generation that's had no.
Prophecies because we've gone through a season that the supernatural has not been allowed.
It'S not been valued. And I keep telling people we have to own some of it. My generation, the generation before me, the people who operate in the supernatural, a lot of times we found out that there were inconsistencies in their life. And a lot of people got disillusioned, disillusioned, confused, disappointed with leadership. And there's always, especially in the church, and I don't know why. There's always an overcorrection. And so I think they said, well, I want to get structure, consistency. I want to live right. And I can't have all that stuff in my life because those guys don't live right. And so they throw it all out. And then they start this form of Christianity that spiritually, I think is ankle deep at best. And it's void of any speaking of the Holy Spirit or teaching about his involvement in your life. So it's, you know, we sing about the Father in Jesus and pray to the Father in Jesus, and we teach sermons on the Father in Jesus, but both of them are in heaven. The only one that's still in the earth is the Holy Spirit. He lives inside of me. He's my guide. He's my teacher, and I Don't have a preacher that will introduce me to him. And so you're talking about a void. So I did say. I think I said this past Sunday, if I remember right. I think that's why there's been such an explosion in life coaches. I like life coaches. You're a life coach. So I'm not being inconsistent and hypocritical. But the thing is, people are looking for information. Why? Because the Bible says that the Holy Spirit is your guide in your life. And the Bible says that he has all the information for your life and it's revealed to you by the Holy Spirit. And the fact is, people are wandering around aimlessly and lost, hungry for some direction that only the Holy Ghost possesses.
They're wanting somebody else to give them an abc. One, two, three. Yeah.
And like I said, you can give principles of success. You can tell them environments that create success.
I can show them how to hear.
The Holy Spirit, relationships that. But you can't tell them, Is this the guy you marry?
Right.
You can't tell them, do I take this job in Ohio? You can't tell them, is it time for me to start my own business? You can't tell those things. Only the Holy Spirit knows those things. So unless you have taught me to have a relationship with him. I go through life guessing.
Right.
Like I said, that makes me sad. That makes me sad.
There are so many. Even physical transfers. I remember your dad laid his coat on you. Myles Monroe laid his coat.
Miles Monroe laid his coat.
Marilyn Hickey took her jacket off at my women's conference in 2016 and threw it on me.
Tommy Barnett laid hands on us. Together, the multiplication anointing. Our church wildly exploded in a way that was unexplainable to this day.
Right.
All these guys that are growing churches today. You know what scares me is they can tell you how they did it. Well, we did this and we implemented these systems. And when we did this right here, we grew by this many percent. It sounds like corporate America. People are saying, why are folks waiting in the parking lot to get in your building?
We don't know.
I don't know. How did you do this? I don't know. They get me to be on a panel. They get to me. How did you.
For so many. I don't know, for so many years at Redemption, those happenings were so unexplainable. It became our slogan.
Can't be explained. Only experienced.
Only experienced. And that is so true.
Yeah, I can't. What's your church like? You just gotta come I just need you to come. I just need you to come. That's too much. And so, you know, those things made me who I am. I remember another time being with you at Dominion camp meeting, and Juanita Bynum was preaching.
Oh, my gosh.
And I remember the room. I remember. Whoo.
She preached a sermon. I'll never forget it. What year was that, Ron?
2000Ish.
She preached a sermon called where is the Church? And it wrecked me.
And I remember looking around and you were no longer standing beside me, and I literally was. And I looked down and I saw two feet under the pew, and you were laying up under two pews. Now, who even has a service where laying under a pew would be appropriate or allowed? No, no, listen, Hope, this is how far we've come. Who even has an atmosphere where that would be allowed? You'd be walked out. But we were in atmospheres, and that building held over 5,000 people. We were in atmospheres where that was expected.
Yeah.
I want you to look at the chasm.
And I today, at 56 years old, can say that changed my life.
Changed my life.
Yes.
Most people do not walk away from services today and say that service changed my life. It's supposed to.
But we are here talking about generations today.
Right.
We. We talked about this yesterday. And today there is a generation that's coming up, I believe, that is hungry for this raw move of the Holy Spirit.
I believe living right and powerfully anointed spiritual experiences are not mutually exclusive.
Right.
I believe you can be a power guy and still have a lot of structure and consistency in the way you live for God. Also, I don't believe that everything Holy Ghost absolutely means lack of excellence and sloppy.
Right.
And they're associated with the two. We try to operate at a very high level of excellence and operate. We try to operate where we represent Jesus at the highest level, but at the same time, let it be known when it's time to break curses. We're going to bring people down to the altar and we're going to sling old and we're going to break curses, and those people are going to walk out.
That's very real.
Yes, that is very real as well. So our altar offices are set up, our production teams are set up. Everything is orchestrated. We have click tracks, too. We have all that stuff. But when the thing comes for the addict to find freedom, we're going to let the addict find freedom. What I feel like I am really is I don't believe I'm from a generation. I feel like I'M a bridge generation. There's not a lot of guys my age that you just call out their names. It's like a gap. But the ones before me and the ones after me, there's tons of. And I feel like I'm kind of caught in the middle. I've got the residue of the power guys still on my life, yet I understand the savviness of the new guys. And so I feel like now I'm supposed to walk in this season of my life. There's got to be a way to pull the two together and make this beautiful, hybrid, excellent church that operates at a high level, but at the same time, every single, in every single service is an encounter with God.
Absolutely. We're having, we're even having a little trouble. You know, we're starting this young adult ministry on both coasts. And the young adult age group is your millennials. Annual Gen Z's in the same room.
And 18 to 35ish.
Yeah, almost to 48. 38 to 18. And we're seeing a broad gap in that as well too. So we're really having meetings. We got a meeting after this.
The millennials want community. The Gen Z God, God, God, God.
I mean, we just want to be discipled. We want to. And there comes a time, and at the end, I'm grateful. You know, we've lived a little bit. We've got some wisdom to impart to both of them that, you know, everybody's not going to spoon feed you. And we can't cater to, you know, us just sitting on the floor and worshiping all night long either. You've got to pursue God on your own. You got to pursue God at home, and you got to get in your own word. And everybody can't just feed you all the time. You've got to grow in your relationship with the Lord on your own. And also, you can't just come to a service and take off your shoes and wave your flag all night long, but go back and spend the night with your boyfriend either. Something's got to produce in your life, you know, it's got to be a balance. And that I'm so excited that they even invite us into the rooms and are listening and asking questions. It's. It's a refreshing day. It really is church. And I'm excited about it.
I'm excited. The jinns, I think the millennials are in a shift. I think the millennials are in a value system shift right now. At least a portion of them. And I believe the Gen Z's are just all about unrestrained pursuit of God and both of them, you know, which needs to probably be balanced in some ways.
Yes.
But at the same time, I'll take that. I've always said I'd rather peel somebody off the ceiling than pick them up off the floor.
That's true.
And it looks like Gen Z is going to be this peel me off the ceiling group and see, I love that. I love. That's infectious to me.
That's what we said yesterday. I'm one of them. I'm proud that they come with their.
Bible and their notes in their hand and they're ready to write and they want to take notes and they want to know about God and the things of God.
But I still want them to go home and wash their clothes.
Yep. We do still want them to have a job, wash their clothes, provide for themselves, take care of things of life. Yep.
Pay your bills on time. All the good things.

Hallelujah.
Here's what I want to see. I want to see that I've raised up a generation that knows how to embrace the miraculous and go home and live right.
That's so good that, that their God experience doesn't just happen in the church. In the church that they take it home, they raise their kids with it, they implement it in their marriage, they implement it in their finances. That it's not just some spookiness having fives.
You had five couples that you had come to church in on the east coast last week, most of which I think are non church people, period. They're just not church people. Yeah, not bad people. They're just not church. They're all professional people. All these couples do well. These couples live in nice homes and drive nice cars and have a lot of the kids go to private education. I mean, they're professional level people, non church. The ones that are churched have very little church. I think one of them was Catholic. The other two go to like a very, very casual seeker church. So nothing have they ever been in that has been apart like ours. So in the back of our mind, when you invite them to something that you know is experiencing blowout revival, you're like, how's this going to go over? The guy that I would have bet my money would have been the least likely to get saved was the first hand to go up. He raised his, I mean, raised his hand like you didn't have to beg to, to accept Christ. And I would have said out of.
All of them that made me cry.
He'D be the last one. The other people who had never been to a church like that, not because.
He'S a bad guy. You say that because he's, he was raised Catholic.
Yeah. He's not. He's.
And not from the South.
Right. He's not.
So he doesn't have a Church culture.
It has nothing to do with his character. He's just. When you would talk, when we would talk about our life and things, you could tell he's totally unfamiliar with it. That's what I meant about that. He's a wonderful person, actually, but just no point of reference from really our church and the way we do church. And the long and short of it, another couple that has never been in an environment like ours. Who told you? One of them told you. I've never experienced so many cold chills in all my life. See, not even a real vocabulary, maybe.
For really understand why I got cold.
Chills, what's going on. But something was happening to him that doesn't normally happen to him when he goes to a church service. See, to me, that is invaluable because I've always said when you leave church, sometimes you don't remember anything anybody said, but you always remember how you feel. Yeah, and the night that I got saved, I don't remember what the preacher preached, but I like to tell people I said, I'll never forget how I felt. And so long and short of it is, we're hoping to see one generation passing something to another, to another, to another, like Elijah did to Elisha, like Paul did to Timothy and so on and so forth.
We're investing in that, in that emphasis.
We are.
We are just starting. We just had our first meeting here.
At West Coast Young Adult Ministries.
Here, west coast, this past month, Society 242. And on the East coast, it's May 16th. So if you are wanting this type of community, if you are 18 to 38 and you are wanting a community to come and worship God, but to break bread and to have fellowship and to do life with people. I would encourage you to get in on these young adult meetings, but also be here at this transfer conference in May.
I'm telling you, something's going to happen.
It is.
I want to look. I want some of these people to say, I looked around and my wife, all I saw was her feet. And to go away and say, but not just for the point of change my life.
Yes, life changes.
It changed my life. It changed my life. And we've had many of them. They make you who you are. And we're trying to. What are you trying to do on this podcast? Well, beside me and hope, just having fun and making you laugh. I want to awaken and inspire a passion in people to chase God this way because he's the same yesterday day and forever. He's never changed.
He wants to radically change our lives.
Yes, he does, and I want to do that, too. But anyway, we got to close this out and invite everybody to be with us next week, wherever you go.
To register for transfers, go to our website.
Go to our website.
Go to myredemption ca.
It's free. We're doing it because we have limited seating. Now, here's what I would ask you. Please, please understand this from my heart. We can only seat about 3,500 people. If you go on there, please be about 80% sure you can come.
Don't take.
Because somebody else could get those seats. We're going to hold those seats, literally, if you register for, like, a family of four. And I want you to. I want you to come. 7th through 9th.
Yeah. May 7th.
May 7th through 9th.
