Don't Judge Me

Ron and Hope Carpenter explore what "don't judge me" actually means in scripture. Judgment is reciprocal, begins in God's house, and only works within real relationships with mentors or spiritual fathers, not as anonymous online condemnation. Leaders face a higher standard.

Hey, everybody. Here we are. Ron and Hope. Unfiltered. If you're looking at this through YouTube. I hope you like our new background. Do you like it, Ron?
I like it better than the white wall.
Do you?
I do. I like it.
I like it too. It's so bright, vibrant and pretty.
Who picked the colors out?
Me.
I figured cause it was set up before I got in here.
Yeah.
Marriage. How to communicate. We need to learn how to communicate in marriage so that nothing is ever surprised to your spouse. What'd you say, Ron?
You don't care what color the background is?
Is that green, Ron?
It's kind of like aquamarine. Some would call it turquoise.
Looks like hunter green.
That it is not hunter green. That's army green.
That's the color that was popular in the 90s when we got married.
Ron, that was.
Remember you wanted hunter green wallpaper everywhere. Ron, you remember that?
That is not hunter green.
My first house, hunter green wall with that mauve stuff on the top.
Babe, are you colorblind?
No, it was hunter green. I remember you loved hunter green. Yep. You wanted to go hunter green carpet one time.
Okay, I don't remember that.
Don't touch me though. I can feel that.
What? You felt the holy ghost when I touched.
Don't touch me.
Do it again. You are something else today. We are glad that you're here. This is Ron and Hope. Unfiltered, real raw, relevant. Ron, what are we talking about today?
Don't judge me.
I'm not judging you.
That's what the topic is.
Oh, okay.
Don't our son have a tattoo that says only God can judge you?
No, he does not. But I have seen those. No, he does not, Ron. Yep, I've seen those tattoos.
I think it's one of them weekends as friends. They were learning how to do. They were learning how on each other.
He does not. To make the record clear, he does not have one of those tattoos.
Only God can judge men. I think they misspelled one of the words on there. It's on his back.
No, but one time, Chase was in jail overnight. Do you remember. Remember when Chase was in jail overnight and he said he was so afraid he didn't sleep all night?
There's this guy there that stared at him with eyes that big and had insane tattooed across his chest and didn't.
Have a shirt on.
Chase said he didn't go to sleep all night.
He said the man just kept staring at him. Cause he had an insane tattooed all over his chest.
How did we get there? Okay.
Anyway, so we're talking about.
Talking about judging.
Judging.
This is gonna be a little sharp at some places. Cause I'm gonna be honest with you, I met an age now where you.
Really don't care partially.
You're right. Where I really don't care. But I'm also at an age where I feel like I've almost earned the right to speak. The right to speak and maybe call some things out, you know? 35, don't know if you got the right to do it. 28, you certainly don't. 40, maybe by the time you get in your 50s, if you've seen and experienced a few things, I believe you've kind of earned the right to have to create an atmosphere where you can maybe call out some things.
I think talking about earn the right to call out. I think that's real key in what we're talking about. You know, you see the Internet. Oh, my word. You know, just everybody stating their opinion everywhere and they feel like they can because nobody can see them. It gives everybody an opinion. But people just talk about things and people and situations. The government just on and on and on and on. And anybody. Yeah. But also, you know, the scripture that just comes to mind right now is, why don't you deal with that big old plank in your eye? Y' all like my version of scripture. I just add country words to it. But why don't you deal with that big old plank in your eye?
Don't turn us off, because me and Hope do a lot of interaction. This is not a teaching session. It's not designed to be a teaching session. It is designed to be informative. Yeah, but it's not a teaching session. We have many other platforms for that. But I told Hope, I said, there's no way to talk about this without getting in some scripture and really defining some things. Because we have misinterpreted. What don't judge mean? Because actually, God says, judgment begins in the house of God.
In the house of God. Yeah.
It begins there. There is a judgment that has to take place. There is a protocol which God has set up by how that takes place. But the actual word judgment means to pass a sentence. I am not to pass a sentence on anybody. The Bible says judge not that you be not judged. In other words, this is a law that is reciprocal. Not every law is reciprocal. This is a law that does this.
Yeah.
Okay. So there's a will. And when you send judgment out, judgment doesn't hit a straight line. It hits a wheel. It hits a cycle. And the Bible Says if you send judgments out, judgments cycle back around and come to you. Then it says, with the same measure you use, it shall be measured back to you. And I'm going to tell you, I've been in some circles and conversations where I've heard some people straight up dishing it out.
Yeah.
And. But there is.
They forget about the circle.
Yes. There is a place for calling issues out. And we have said, don't judge me, means you can't ever call me to a higher place.
Right.
Because if I call you to a higher place, we've looked at that as judging. So now what we have is people with no principles, no character, no boundaries, no core. I'm going to keep going. No accountability. But they're leaders. So they have people with great platforms, great voices, but nobody can speak to them and say, this is out of place or this is out of place.
Because they say, you're judging me, you're judging me. But. So the goal, I think the whole deal is to establish judging at times is biblical. Right. But not to a stranger. It's supposed to be with who I'm in relationship with. Would you agree?
Passing judgment usually comes when you have no information.
Right.
Concerning them.
You don't know them at all. You're sitting on the Internet just stating how you think they should act or do or whatever.
And it's prideful. It's prideful because there's only one wise God. And judge, as First Timothy calls him, that's God because he has all the information. Exactly. God is the only. Only O, N L Y judge because he is the only one that knows all the information. I got to be honest with you, I'm a very principal person and was raised in a holiness background. That's a double win. I mean, those are people that can be hard. I don't know that I've ever been hard, but I had very, very defined lines and they didn't move. I was rigid in those lines. And what I have learned over time is there's always something behind the what.
Yeah.
And I think that's why.
There's always a why.
Yes, there's always. That's the reason God refuses me to pass judgment. Because I look at something from a distance and I see what they did. I heard what they said. I heard the rumor about they were with this person or they did do that. So you see it, and you see it from a distance, then in your mind, oh, I knew they weren't. No count.
Yeah.
You know, you know, I knew you couldn't trust them. What have I done? I don't know them. I've never had a conversation with them. I have no information on the subject, but I have sat in the seat of judgment, passed a sentence, and already declared them of lesser value in my mind. Even if I didn't say it out loud, I did it in my mind.
Yeah. And so still forgetting. It's going to turn her back around. How many times have we seen that? Honestly, you know, we've lived it. We've lived it. We've seen it. I mean, some of my darkest days, you know, in 2004, 2005, 6, 7. And just the judgment that I got from people over my life and had no idea what I was going through, didn't even. Didn't even care to ask why, just passed judgment. And even in recent days, those who judge me so harshly, their marriage has fallen apart or they struggled with xyz, you know, whatever, because it does. It just comes back to you.
The people who created the greatest difficulty for us are now walking in some of the greatest difficulty.
Yeah.
And so you do have to be careful, because with the same measure. With the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And a lot of people like to dish it out, but, boy, they hate. They hate when it's coming around and visiting their life.
And truth is, we all got issues, right?
Everybody.
I mean, we got. We all sin. I was talking to somebody the other day on the Internet, actually, another pastor, and he was just very, you know, brash and abrupt about calling out some things in leadership and in the church world, which I agree with a lot of things he was saying. But my question was to him, you know, with love, speak the truth in love, there's a way to do it.
You got a hair that's bothering me. Okay, okay, go ahead.
There's a way to do it. You know, There's a way to call it out. There's a way to, you know, what is the goal? Is the goal just trumpeting?
The goal is restore.
Yeah. Is the goal just trumpeting? You're wrong. You're a sinner. And I'm so holy, I glow in the dark. And I told this person, I said, the truth is, we all sin, but we sin differently. Your sin's different than mine, and my sin's different from the next person's. So, you know, just because you see somebody's sin that you want to call out, there might be somebody else who's trying to call out yours.
There's so many things. The reason God doesn't Allow judging number one is because I go back to what I said. We see what very few people know. Why. Yeah, there is. There is. If somebody just makes an idiotic, stupid decision and you're scratching your head, man, with how much God's blessed them. How did they. And wow, as much as they had going for them, and now they've just. Okay. Nobody gets up one morning and says, I want to destroy my life.
Yeah, I'm just going to go just ruin everything today.
Yeah, I'm going to. I want to. You know what? I'm hoping I can destroy my marriage by lunchtime, you know? You know, I want to make my kids hate me before I go to bed. You know, nobody. You know, I hope this time tomorrow I'm no longer pastor of my church because they throw me out. Who wants to do that? Nobody does that. So what we have to understand in withholding judgment is there is a why that led to a what. And there are so many things that can begin to fall into why that happened. There are generational things. There are things in the bloodline. There are things that get planted in us in our youth that come to fruition in our adulthood. I can go over and over and over about nature, about nurture, whatever it is environmentally, and about the very parents you came from that can all lead you to a set of circumstances. Stress depletion deficiency. Everything can do that. So we're going to go to this right now, but I just want to. I'm going to go back to this a minute, hitting the why. Because the why has everything to do with why God refuses to allow us to judge.

Sponsors, which we're so grateful for. They have a way that they want to be spoken about, promoted. But can I just add something to that? Hope and I. One of the things we like about this podcast that we've never gotten to do is partnerships. We've never been able to do that. Okay? Tv, church, on the stage. We don't get to get up and tell everybody our partnerships. This is a different venue for us. And the fact is, we want to maybe unearth things, but then we want to send you to somebody who can help you. Most people do not have the ability to unpack their own pain. No, they just do not. And if you don't unpack it, you get stuck there. Wherever your mind is, is where you are. And before you move your life forward, you're going to have to move your mind forward. That means you're going to have to learn to process the things that happened to you and bring grace to it.
And sometimes you just need a different perspective. You know, we can. We have our patterns in our brain by what we've been through, the way we've been raised, the way we think, the trauma we've been through. And sometimes you need somebody to come and just slap you upside the head, you know, and say, no, you got stinking thinking. You're stuck in the wrong mindset about this. And just one person giving you a different perspective can really set you free.
They can help you redefine it.
Yeah.
Because everything to you is how you define it. Okay, case in point. I'll do this very quickly and move on. I got two sons, two totally different personality types. We used to go to theme parks. I got one son sitting there. Is it our turn, Daddy? Is it our turn, Daddy? Is it our turn, Daddy? He's climbing over the rails. I'm having to grab him by the back of his shirt. He wants to get on that roller coaster and he wants to turn loops. I got another son on there that looks at that thing and it gives him 15 cases of diarrhea. Yeah, listen. Same roller coaster. Two definitions. One defines it as fun. One defines it as fearful. Sometime you need somebody to help you redefine your experiences because you put a wrong definition on it. Some of my darkest days, which I were going to define as darkest, became my greatest opportunities. Our darkest day became our platform. It became a venue of ministry and open door that we never had. So this is what this counseling and better help can help you do. And we're so grateful that we partner with these guys. Back to judging. Don't leave me here. Stay with me. There's something in the church that concerns me greatly. And here's where I'm just going to take my shots. Can I do it? You just hold your breath.
It's our podcast. Go ahead.
Yeah, I'm going to take my shots. We are building ministry, churches, record label. And I'm not being hypocritical. I'm doing all that. I'm building as hard as I can build. I'm expanding as fast as I can expand. Making phone calls, having meetings, doing everything I can to get the message to as many people as I can.
Staying current, being relevant, everything.
Yeah, but we're doing better, more savvy in everything we do than we have ever been ever, in any generation. But while we are building the strongest ministries and building the best brands we have ever built and while we are doing these things better than we ever have, our culture is in moral decay faster to me than it's ever been. I know, in my lifetime.
I agree.
Okay, so something's wrong. Yeah, I'm building mega ministries with multi million platform and I'm not here not being hypocritical. We have one and I'm grateful for it. They're all over the world, more of them than they've ever been. It used to be an anomaly back when we started for somebody to have a building with four or five thousand people. Now people are having hundreds of thousands on Sunday virtually and. But then you look all around us and there is no standard. I'm hearing things happening in leadership. They make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I'm hearing things going on in circles, circles that people respect and listen to that I'm sitting there saying, man, you gotta be kidding me. That just can't be right. I don't want to believe them. I'm seeing things happen with my own eyes. I'm seeing things with leaders in our ministerial fellowship where things are coming apart at the seams with no repentance, right? No remorse, no sorrow. And even at times looking at me saying, what's the problem, like I'm a dinosaur.
So the morals have decayed, but they also have an attitude of don't judge me.
Yes. All right. Don't judge me.
Don't judge me.
Here's what you've done when you say, don't judge me. You've told me I have to sit back and accept your behavior. Okay. So it's not really the biblical concept of judging, which means passing a sentence from a distance because you hold no information. Judgment begins first in the house of God. And the Bible says if you don't listen to the kind messenger.
Yeah. The strong messenger will come.
The strong messenger will come if you don't listen to a father in the faith or a mentor or a friend. Okay, a friend. Then you have to listen to life.
Yeah.
Because if you're sowing and reaping. Exactly. If you won't let a person teach you, then life will teach you. God has things that he's going to teach you. And you can either listen to a person who has wisdom, or you can either learn from experience, or you can.
Go to Whale University.
And Jonah and the Whale. Whale University. You can do that. The fact is, I've learned that mentorship is the much quicker, easier route. Because if the only way God can teach me is through experience, then that means I've got to screw up and get spanked to learn over and over and over.
Yeah.
And that means I spend most of my time and energy cleaning up my last mess.
And that's rough.
I don't want to live like that.
It's hurtful. It disappoints people. It jades people. It gives us the church, a black eye.
In John 1, Jesus is the only begotten of the Father, full, full of grace and truth. And I don't know why we can't include that and truth, because truth is that standard. If you desire to be leader. The Bible warns you if you desire to be a leader, because you are held to a much stronger standard. If you want to be leader, you must have a stronger set of convictions. Now let me hit on convictions. You've got sin. And most of the people are just trying to tell the difference between sin and not sinning and win that battle. There is a battle beyond that.
Yeah, it is.
There's a battle in that. Living a life by convictions. What does that mean? Living a life, as Timothy said, worthy of the calling you have received? Paul told the younger Timothy, timothy, if you're going to follow in my footsteps, there is a narrow gate. You can't live Broad.
No.
If you're going to follow me. Narrow is this gate. There is a narrow way that you have to live. And Paul said this. He said, I beat my body and bring it under subjection. Listen. So that when I preach, I'm not disqualified. And the reason we're not changing a culture is because we don't have the moral authority to change a culture.
Oh, my goodness.
We can't change. Change it because we are. We are it. You can't. If you're supposed to be salt of the earth and we're earth of the earth. We are what they are. We do what they do. We wear their clothes, we talk their lingo. Somebody else sets the standard and we go copy it and call it relevance. It's not relevance. The fact is there's supposed to be a standard of living different that speaks to. To the world as a city set on a hill, a light in a dark place, the salt of the earth. And calls everybody higher because they look in their deficiency, in their emptiness, even though they got seven Lamborghinis in their garage and sit there and say, they have something I do not possess. But we're running to be as much like them as we can. Instead of setting a life and a standard that calls everybody around us higher. Jesus called people high, God and sin no more.
Yeah.
Can I just be honest with you? What he said, you have been forgiven. Now cut this foolishness out.
Yeah. Not keep doing it and come back and cry three times.
What did he tell the woman at the well? Change your well or you're going to be back here every day. And basically, I can tell you there's another well. If you would drink from it, you won't be thirsty. If you continue in this vein, you'll be thirsty all the time. If you switch your whales, you will never thirst again. So judgment begins first in the house of God. The Bible says he's calling the hearts of the fathers back to the sons and the hearts of the sons back to the fathers. What is a spiritual father? The Bible says you have many teachers, instructors in Christ. That's what the Internet's full of.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Flip through any YouTube.
You can get your daily devotion.
Oh, my gosh. You can have get your little quote of the day. You can have your quote, you can have your nugget, you can have your clip, you can have your motivation. And the Bible says you have many instructors. We got more than we've ever had. Now you don't even have to be ordained or anything to be a pastor. Just get a YouTube channel. Where are the fathers? Where are the fathers?
And what is a father?
What is the difference? An instructor is somebody that can dish you out information.
A father can spank your tail.
Relationship information.
Restriction.
Faith information. Relationship information. Raising children information. Healing information. Deliver. Just dishing out information. Here's a father. A father is somebody that anchors you to your character.
Right?
A father is. You don't outgrow a father.
Never.
You say, well, I used to have such a spiritual father, but my ministry is bigger than his. You don't know what a spiritual father is.
Right.
You're thinking about mentor or instruction or a teacher. A spiritual father is somebody that sees your weakness and sees your waywardness and has the authority in your life to hold you accountable and yank your chain.
Yank your chain. Yeah.
They are not your friend. They are not your friend. I have significant people that have been a part of my life, in my journey. I'm not going to name drop significant people. And people say, oh, it must be such a blessing to have so and so. It must be such a blessing to sit down and eat and talk to. I'm like, you have no idea how these men talk to me. You have no idea how I've sat there with tears because the things they're telling me hurt my feelings so bad. And I'm a pretty tough kid. But what they were doing was they were calling out things in me that were deficiencies, calling out the way I ran my ministry, called out how much attention they saw me giving you. They were calling out.
They were calling out your shirt.
They were calling out the ways. I know that time Bishop Jakes called me out about Chase, when Chase was on drugs. I mean, tell you, man, he rung my bell. He rung my bell. And I.
That's just in the natural, too. We treat our children differently than we treat strangers. Right? We can call out our children. We can spank our kids. We can put them on restriction. We can take their keys. We can, you know, put boundaries in their life. And that's what a spiritual mother and father is supposed to be in the church.
When somebody by the word of God in love, I'm not talking about a jerk. I'm not talking about a Pharisee. When somebody by the word of God in love, who cares about your soul calls you to a standard of truth and you start this don't judge me crap.
All they're trying, it's a dangerous thing.
All they're trying to do is bring you to a place of freedom. The truth sets you Free and nothing is free till you bring the things in the darkness into the light. But you've got to give somebody permission to do that. You even need. I believe me. And Hope. I give hope permission to do that. Spouse. They don't nobody know my weaknesses like my wife.
Right.
And Ron.
I think though, people get so repelled by the way people do it. Galatians 6:1 just clearly says, those of you who are spiritual, if you see.
A brother culture, yes.
If they're caught, if they're in sin, if they're veering off the path, those of you who are spiritual, restore them, brother. Restore them. Gently is what it says.
Gently, lest the same temptation falls on you. Come upon you. What does that mean? You're entering the wheel again. You're entering the wheel. If you come against that as self righteous and I'm better than you, then you've just entered the wheel. And then you have to stand in line for the thing that they're struggling with. Come on. You better watch out that it'll come on you and become your true.
It's all in how we trust. That's what I was trying to convey, you know, with the person I was having a conversation with. Yes, we gotta call it out, but we gotta call it out within relationship. I have no right to call out a stranger's issue. I have no right to call out another ministry's issue that I'm not in relationship with. My right is to pray for them, My right is to intercede for them. But I have no right to just say, oh, I saw that preacher and he's da, da, da, da, da. And I'm gonna call it out on the Internet. And because God tells me to hold people accountable, judgment starts in the house of God. No, we're to do it with people we're in relationship with.
I have an analogy. When you was talking about that, I just thought about something. Okay, I'm in a service. Our building holds a lot of people. It's got two balconies. First, I've only seen two churches with two balconies. It's crazy. So we're sitting in the building. Somebody from the second balcony say they're one of the pro athletes, comes down for ministry and says, I have a terrible problem with lust or I have a terrible problem with pornography. All that gentleman is going to get from me is grace, right? He's going to get my love, he's going to get my grace.
Your teaching.
He's going to get my. He's going to get my encouragement. That's all he's going to get. Why I have no relationship with him and therefore I'm forbidden to pass judgment. One of my associate pastors comes in my office who I'm doing life with and tells me I'm struggling with lust and pornography. I am going to set up a system of accountability where I can call them into account and call their life higher and make sure they are staying true to a pathway of healing.
Right.
That's what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about those guys are a bunch of jack leg sinners that's judging but not allowing each other to call stuff out. Because you use this judgment thing. All it is is you don't want nobody to talk to you about your sin.
Yeah, you want to sin with no.
Price to pay, with no price and no consequences. And therefore don't nobody say anything to me. Because I want you to embrace not just me, I want you to embrace what I do.
Right.
And that's a bunch of crap. I'm just going to tell you. That's all that is.
It's not biblical in any shape.
And judgment begins first in the house of God. Let me tell you something. The Bible says God chastises those he loves. And you would rather have the calling out of a friend than you would rather have the chastisement of God. Because for you to just walk in rebellion and disobedience as a leader who held to a much stricter judgment, the Bible says then what you need to understand is I would rather give myself a spanking any day than God give me one. And I've had both.
You know, I just think, I just think for me, I just. I've been through a lot in my life, you know, I have, we both have. But I just try to really, really focus on me. You know, you can't make anybody do anything. You can't make anybody change. You can't make anybody line up. You can't make anybody stop sinning. The only person that you are in control of is yourself. That's why you got to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. I'm a whole handful by myself. I know you're a whole handful by yourself.
I need a catcher.
I know you are a whole handful by yourself. So if, you know, we just focus on ourself and love people the way Jesus said love people.
Let me go back that way you said about speaking the truth in love. I think we learned that. I don't know that that comes natural sometime. If we see error or we See, somebody infraction or somebody's transgressed against us, we.
Oh, boy. Yeah.
We want to let them have it. Yeah. But speaking the truth in love, even today, all my children are on staff. And, man, you talking about navigating from being their father and being their boss. I want them all to be in ministry. I want them all to carry on the legacy. I'm so grateful that they're in that. But it is tough navigating that. It is.
It's funny when they'll call and ask you a question or ask me a question, our answer is, now, do you want me to answer this as your mom and dad, or do you want me to answer this as your boss?
Well, this morning there was a deficiency. And one of my children. I don't give anything away. I got three, so you won't know which one it is. And I had to take them out of a room off by themselves. And I said this. I said, now I want to talk to you. I said, what should have happened right there? And that was a way to let them arrive at that. They came to the conclusion I wanted them to come to. But I didn't call them out. I sat there and put in front of them what should have happened. And they knew that they had missed an opportunity that they were supposed to seize. It wasn't really sin. It was just a deficiency in the way they responded to something you said a minute ago about the way we do it. My dad put in me and instilled in me. Because sometimes I remember it used to drive you crazy because you thought I let people take advantage of me.
You did. But let's just go ahead and say it. You let people take advantage of you.
You can say anything if you say it right.
Always tell people, Ron Carpenter can look at you and say, your breath stinks and I hate your haircut, and you'll go, thank you, Pastor. Just the way he says it.
There's a way to say it. There really is. There's a way to say it that you say it. And even though it's a hard conversation, the ultimate end is the betterment of the person you're communicating with.
I think that's what we were talking about earlier. What is the goal?
The goal?
Pointing them out. Listen. So that you can look better, so that you can glow in the dark. So that you just put the light on you. That I don't sin like you. You know, I don't have these issues. Is that the goal, or is the goal truly that you want their life restored that you want them to, you know, get it together and turn this stuff around so that they can be everything God's called them to be.
Pastor. A pastor that I was connected to in some and somewhat, you know, life falling apart. And they were. The reasons were obvious. The reasons were obvious. My greatest pain is that they. They would not listen.
No, they wouldn't.
And so everything I knew was going to happen, not because I'm a prophet or a guru, but because I've lived long enough. Yeah, that's why I say, you live long enough, you've earned the right to speak. Because I've lived long enough. And I've seen this pattern. It has not led to any place good. It's led to devastation.
And you were the spiritual father in this first time.
There was collateral damage everywhere.
And they did not listen.
They didn't listen. So anything that is sin, that is not met with sorrow, there's somebody, I hope close to you that can call that out. Because godly sorrow works as repentance. Repentance is the chain. Repentance is not a prayer. Repentance is a decision. And people don't change because they're not sorry.
They're not sorry.
And they're not sorry because they don't feel in them the fact that it's wrong.
And the only time people say, oh, I'm sorry, or I'm going to sit down or I'm going to whatever, you know, get some help, is when they're caught. That's not godly sorrow.
Do you remember we don't have a lot of preachers anymore, Hope. We just don't have a lot of preachers. We got a lot of teachers, a lot of speakers, a lot of presenters.
You a preacher, though?
We don't have a lot of preachers. And people say, what's the difference? It's just a delivery style. No, it's not. When Peter finished preaching, they were cut to the heart and 3,000 people repented and said, what must I do? What's my response? Tell me how to respond. Another thing that I think is somewhat concerning is you can walk in any church in America and leave just like you went in without any conviction. No conviction coming on the way that you're living your life. And I hope I remember you and I going to services and there was such conviction. One time I looked over and all I saw was your feet sticking out from under a pew.
Yeah, I remember that because you were.
Laying down on carpet, eating carpet, laid up between. And that was common.
Yeah.
And so we didn't we didn't want to sin and come back and ask God to help us. We knew those propensities inside of us. And when the preacher preaching conviction was in the house, we would come up and begin to say, God, deal with me internally.
There are many churches who preach like that and have the message like that anymore.
And if people do want to run forward, you can't run forward because there's no altar.
Yeah.
You see what I'm talking about? And so these are some things.
That's another thing. The decline, as we were talking about earlier, of the morals is because nobody's putting out the morals before people to attain this life, to preach holiness. You know, we want to preach to make people feel good and to leave church uplifted. And there's so many times my life has shifted and I did not leave church uplifted, I left broken.
Sometimes you need to leave church feeling like crap. Yeah, I need to feel good. I want you to feel good when you leave my church. I'm going to tell you some of the greatest services I was ever in made me feel terrible.
Yes.
But I changed because it made me look in the mirror.
Yes.
It made me see my carnality and it made me confront it.
And people will say, well, you won't get the lost in there if you preach like that. That is not true.
I'm preaching as hard as I've ever preached and we're having five to 600 a week getting saved. I've never had that before. I've never had that before. So I just don't believe that. I believe all that stuff's a cop out, because the fact is, if you preach it, you have to live it. So if I don't preach it, then I won't be held to that standard. But when a preacher starts throwing a standard out there, then all of the hearers hold him to that standard and we're scared of that and we shun away from it. So that's my 53 year old looking back down the pathway. We need to be careful because this path we're on is not healthy.
Right.
It's just not healthy.
So don't judge me. You can't judge everybody. Let's just recap. We're not supposed to. Let me touch you again. Whoo. We're not supposed to judge everybody, right? No, no. We're supposed to have relationship with people that we can call higher, that we can point out issues in people's life and it's a way to do it. Yeah. Then they're supposed to submit to it. Yes. Mutually submitting to each other. And it's the way to do it. You speak the truth in love. Galatians 6:1. Those of you who are spiritual, you know everybody who's got it together. You restore people.
What I do to you on the days when you're calling all my stuff out, what I do, I say, are you going to be a meanie today? That's what I do. You never put. You never wipe up your coffee ground.
Oh my gosh, this is not sin.
And then I sit there and say, say, okay, is this one. Are you going to be a meanie today?
That's not sin.
How many days a month do you get to be a meanie? You get some that you get grace to be meanie. How many days is it?
I don't know.
Once a week.
I don't know.
Okay. We've been on here a long time. I don't want to make people tired.
