Hope + Ron: Unfiltered - Captive Christians

Hope Carpenter and Ron discuss what it means to be a captive Christian, exploring the biblical difference between being delivered and being free. They use scripture and personal stories to examine how Christians can remain spiritually trapped even after salvation.

Hello, everybody. It's Ron and Hope Unfiltered. If y' all could have seen what I just saw. Right before during the countdown, Ron acted like he just got hit with the Holy Ghost. He just jerked like, Whoo. Like we used to see.
People, they don't know that. They don't know nothing about that.
It's rotten. Hope unfiltered. Real raw, relevant.
So they don't know about the Holy Ghost coming on you. They don't know nothing about the Holy Ghost and fire. We had to teach people that Holy Ghost don't come on you. He lives in you.
That's right.
He only came down one time. He's down.
Yeah, but people used to say in. In the Pentecostal Church, he would come on you.
Yeah, you can't praise till he comes on you. Yeah, that's Old Testament, actually. He would come upon people. But now he lives in people.
He lives in us. He leads us. He guides us.
He directs us. He can't hear. And buck and jerk. We do it every Sunday. You can holler and buck, jerk, run.
But you do it on purpose. You do it because you want to. It's not something he comes on you and makes you do.
Sometimes you get hit.
Sometimes you get hit.
Sometimes you still get hit and shimmer and shake. You get in the right environment.
Oh, Lord Jesus.
And every once in a while. Where was I a while back? And I started shimmering some people from our church that. I never seen him do that.
You were here. You were preaching. And then the other day we were visiting. No, we were at a wedding, too. We were sitting there at a wedding, and you said, hey. Like that. And the wedding, it was quiet, and it was about to start. You had the whole row shaking.
I did that at a funeral one time. Oh, God, Ron, remember that? Remember that time? I did it at Congress. We did it. A funeral.
You were with You. You were with Eric Boggs and y' all were cutting up.
No, no, that was. Well, that was a funeral, too.
Yes, it was. You got touched.
But I was with Stephen Ward.
Oh, God.
I was with Stephen Ward.
That was. Was that at his mama's funeral?
No. Where were we? I didn't say his funeral at. I got touched. We was at the food line, and I got touched. Remember? Was getting ready to eat the food.
Living with you is an adventure. It's an adventure.
Don't you love it, though?
I do. I really do.
See, people think you're doing the crazy stuff, and I'm all. They don't know.
Do no you're just random. You're random doing.
I'm random. And what's maybe sneaky a little bit. Yes.
Like, how do you do it when nobody's expecting.
Who was it yesterday was saying, how does he do that? And his face don't ever change. He don't. You don't. He don't laugh at him. He just does it with a straight face.
I don't remember. And even our grandkids go, we can't believe anything man. Man says. Cause you say the funniest things.
They'll look at me. Say something, and they'll look at you.
They'll look at me and say, is he telling the truth, Gigi? Is he telling the truth?
Now our little granddaughter's starting to do it. She goes, yeah, she'll start looking at.
You like, let me explain what I'm talking about, though, Ronald. Say, a llama came in our swimming pool yesterday, and I had to rescue Gigi out of the pool because the llama was trying to attack her.
She was laying on the mat.
Dumb things like that.
And the kids go, no, they're laughing their head off.
Is he telling the truth?
They're laughing because I can tell stories. Good. You remember when the kids were little and I would start off, tell them story, and they'd like. They would lie, tell, saying, tell us another one. Then I just start telling all kind of crazy stuff.
I always read my kids books at night. And so when it was Ron's turn to read, like, if I couldn't do it that night or whatever, he'd open up the same book that I had read prior. They knew the story, but Ron would take the character in the book and. And so say something just totally abstract and crazy. And they. They'd be like, that's not the story, dad. That's not the story. Ron's like, yeah, it is.
Remember I had Remy and Ariel with me few a couple of weeks ago, and I told him I had to shoot a zebra on our porch. He went and got. And I said, he. They said, what you do with him? I said, he's laying on there with a blanket.
Laying with a blanket.
What did Zayan used to say? Is he tricking me? Not, is he telling me? Is he tricking me? Is he cheating me?
Cheating me?
Is he cheating me?
Yeah, that's what he'd say. He'd say, are you cheating me right now?
What have we got to talk about? We already talked five minutes.
Well, we are just talking about funny stuff, but this is serious. This is a serious One, I really wanted to talk about this today because I believe it is so true. Why?
Because you did pick this topic. When you picked it, I was like, why do you want to do that?
One? Because I believe it is so true. And I believe the body of Christ at large is walking around living bound. And I call it captive Christians. We are walking around not experiencing the abundant life that God has called us to, that Jesus bled and died for the provisions that he has made for us in his death, burial and resurrection. But we live bound, captive Christians.
She wants to talk about captive Christians. I said, hope, you do know that there are people, probably people that watch us and maybe watch us avile, that don't even believe that that exists.
Yeah, they do believe it because they know they're bound. They know they're not free.
But the Bible does talk about it in Romans 7. And so this is going to be a little more Bible oriented. I don't even have a Bible with me, and we don't have anybody throwing scriptures up in the podcast. We're not really designed to do that. So I'll do most of this by memory. And you go back, because it's all going to be just about from Romans 7 and chapters 8 where I talk about Christians being captive. First of all, we got to understand there's a difference Hope, between being delivered and being free. Those are not the same.
Explain it.
We use those words interchangeably as though they're one and the same, and they are not. God got Israel from Egypt and delivered them from Egyptian bondage.
He took them out of the place.
Broke the yoke off their neck. He got them out of the place, yes, but they were nowhere close to being free. What took 40 years. What took 40 years was trying to get them to think like a family, get them to think like a nation, get them to think like an army. God had to give them a moral code. God had to tell them how their families operate. God had to teach them how to worship. God had to teach them about his presence, had to teach them about the tabernacle retraining. He had to teach them about everything. And here's the main story, and I want to do it up front because maybe the story will put the hook in you and get you to listen. Because I know sometimes people just want to hear, you know, me and you get up here and banter and laugh. Other than, you know, a sermon. This isn't a sermon, it's a topic.
And if you listen, it will help you to become free.
We had outside dogs. I'm almost hesitant now that I've been in California to tell this story because there's a different relationship people in California have with animals. It's not bad. It's just different. They don't view it like people in the south so much. It wasn't that we did anything cruel, but there might be some people that would deem it that way. But forgive me if I crossed your animal boundaries. And I'm not being sarcastic, because my goal there is not about how to keep animals safe. My goal is try to give you context. Context that we won't make with this point because it's the best analogy that I know of. We bought a house, little ranch house. The house was literally sitting in the middle of 17 acres of land just sitting out there all by itself. Our kids wanted to be pond kids, fishing kids, crawl dads, four wheelers. So we moved way out in the country, and I mean way out. And we bought a lot of land and got it cheap. And we wanted big outdoor dogs. Big. I just wanted big dogs.
A lab.
Yeah, we had two labs, a black lab and a white lab. Beautiful dogs. I was still thinking about the black one's name. Don't tell them that. Mad at me. Beautiful dogs. But we didn't want inside dogs. We wanted them to go out and have 17 acres. But can you imagine trying to put a chain link fence around 17 acres of land? I didn't have or didn't want to spend the economy that it would take to do that. So we got a very inexpensive thing where they come and run the power unit, the cord in the ground, just dig a trench and just run it in the ground. And then the dogs wear a collar and it teaches them boundaries. It teaches them go out and road. It teaches them don't go to dangerous places. Don't go beyond our fence and go start chasing cows and the next guys. So it would get up to it and it put a little shock on their neck and it would teach them where to go. Now they got 17 acres. Go be dogs. But we did have that electrical fence.
Stay in our yard.
Yeah, we had that electrical fence put in instead of a physical fence being erected and built all over that monstrous property one day, just like you see on a beer commercial or whatever, it will be almost. I'm sitting, sitting out there. I'm a country guy. I got my truck. You asking me to go to the store. I look at my dog. Come on. Now. I'm going to let him climb up in the back of the truck like, you know, a Country boy would do. And I took his collar off of him. First time I'd done that. So I'm, you know, I'm hitting my leg. You don't usually have to call him. He just chase you everywhere. But I'm hitting my leg. I go over there, open the tailgate. He runs right up to where that electrical fence is underground. And he stops. Now, I took the collar off of him, right?
He's free.
No, he's delivered. I have delivered him from the power of that collar. I have delivered him from the boundaries that he used to have to stay with.
He don't know it, okay?
But he went right there. And I remember the fight. He was a big, strong dog. This is our white lab, Zeke. I went and I remember grabbing his fur and I mean, yeah, you know, he was not going. And I had to pick him up. And he was trying to get out of my arms. Because although he was delivered, he was not free.
So. Good.
Because in his mind, he still wanted to live behind those imaginary boundaries that had actually he had been delivered from.
Because he was trained.
Because that was in his mind and the way he was trained. Deliverance comes from the power of the cross. The power of the cross, the power of the blood of Jesus, the power of salvation, the power of the spirit of God comes and delivers you from the power of sin. And the anointing destroys the yoke and removes the burden. I got to get my growl on when I say that freedom is totally, totally different. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Thank you, Chime for being a sponsor, but not free. Delivered or not free, I had delivered the dog from the power. Okay, let's call the electrical fit Sin. He's delivered.
Right.
But you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. People have got to understand when you accept Christ, whether at your seat or whether you walk down to the front at an altar, nothing has happened to your mind.
This is so key. Are y' all listening?
Nothing.
Nothing has happened to your mind yet. The only thing that changed is that your spirit.
We're born of water and we are born of the Spirit. That is what happens at salvation. The Holy Spirit has now taken residency in you because your sins have been cleansed and washed in the blood of Jesus. Now move to the soulish realm. Realm number one. You have been perfected. You can't add to it. You can't take away from it. You can't make it better by conduct. You can't make it worse by lack of conduct.
That's so good.
That's going to tear people up too. That's going to tear them up. It is by grace you have been saved, not by words. Since saith, salvation is not a wage. It cannot be paid to you because you earned it. And well, you need to start this, Ron. You need to stop. No. It's grace plus nothing. You call on the name of the Lord, you will be saved. You believe in your heart. Confess with your mouth. You will be saved. And everybody who believes you've got to do this and stop that is going to be real surprised who makes it to heaven.
So good. So good.
Real surprise. Now that part has been so your heavenly.
So your heavenly destination is secured by your salvation.
You're spiritually perfected and your eternity is secure.
Yes, You've been delivered from hell, right?
So God has taken the power of sin, the sting of death, all those things that came with it. Bam. You have been delivered. The collar has been torn off. Yes, but you are still the dog doing.
Don't put me over there.
So why?
Because your mind, your soulish man has not been tested.
You're not free from your past. You're not free from your mistakes. You're not free from poverty mindsets. You're not free from the generational thinking of a family. You're not free from maybe what neighborhood you were born in, or what the popular culture of that neighborhood may be. You're not free from those things, right? Your memory, all of those things have to do with the next realm. Soulless. So spiritually I have been saved soulishly. My mind will, emotions, intellect, knowledge, experiences. Mind, will, emotions, intellect, knowledge, experiences. That is the realm of the soul. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. So freedom is a journey.
Yeah.
Deliverance is immediate. Freedom is a journey. I wish I could. I'd have the biggest church and the biggest ministry in the world if I could lay hands on you and make you free. I can lay hands on you and deliver you. I can lay hands on you and destroy the yoke with the anointing. But I cannot lay hands on you and make you free.
I can't.
Renew your mind at the altar. No, I can't do it.
That's not a prayer, right? Renewing your mind is not a prayer.
Repentance is not a prayer.
Right.
The word repentance means to change your mind. The word repentance. The word pent means. Means five. And the word pent also means top. So it means a return to the top. I could go on and on and on. Which means that sometime in our heavenly existence before we got here, because we were created in Christ, before the foundations of the world were laid, we had the kingdom and our mind had not fallen. When we entered the earth, our mind fell because Adam ate from the tree. So we're in the earth and now we have a broken mind. That's why whenever Jesus talks about the kingdom, he talks about it in terms of lost. It's a lost coin, it's a lost son, it's a lost sheep. You can't lose something that was never yours.
That's good.
So in other words, at some time I had the kingdom and I lost it. And now I've got to repent. The penthouse is the top. I need to repent. Be re put back at the top. So how do you do it? As a change of mind. We are renewed minds by the word of God. The word of God washes our mind. Now, here's Romans 7 and captive Christians. Paul said in Romans 7, somewhere around verse 16, he said, that which I hate, I do. And he said, that which I desire to do, I never do it right. He said, in my inner man, I delight in the law of God, but the power to execute it I do not find. So he says, I got a desire to do the right thing. And he says, my actual decision are in conflict. He says, so I got a want to, and I've got the actual decision that I make. And they contradict one another.
That spirit and soul fighting. That spirit wants to do right, but that soul is so used to doing what I've always done, reacting the way I've always reacted. Talk the way I've always talked.
Romans 5, 6 is the greatest dissertation on grace in the Bible. It is by grace you have been saved. In other words, less than any man should boast. That's in Ephesians. But the whole thing is about grace. But then it gets to chapter seven and people don't know what to do with it because now he's talking about this struggle. In other words, I've been saved into a struggle.
Say that again.
Saved into a struggle. I've been struggling into a struggle. I have been delivered from the power of sin, but what I hate, I'm still doing. And then he says, I have to agree then sin still dwells in me. He goes on further in about verse 22, he says, I find then a law in my members, a work in my members, warring against the law of my mind, bringing me into captivity. Captive. This is the Apostle Paul already Talked about chapters 5 and 6, how saved to the uttermost. Saved to the bone. Yeah, I'm struggling.
Saved from hell, right? But I'm struggling, struggling because in this.
Earth, not experiencing freedom. So in chapter eight, which is, if you can't preach chapter eight, you ain't called Romans. Chapter eight is the explosion, you know, in chapters five and six, you enter this world. Chapter seven, you feel the struggle of it. In chapter eight, you feel the freedom of it. And then he says, oh, wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death? And, you know, there's the Roman imagery of how they execute. They execute the letters to the Romans. So he's talking to them with their imagery. The imagery of their execution is number one by crucifixion, number two is if you're a murderer, they will take the dead carcass of the person that you murdered and tie it to you limb by limb. Torso, arms, elbows, everything. They tie it to you until you're eaten alive, until you. Until you are overcome with the same death. The gangrene, the disease that is in the carcass overtakes you. So I guarantee cut down on murders, though I bet the murder rate would plummet. So it's a brutal way to die. But Paul is using that imagery. He said, I got this thing tied to me, tied to me. And he says, oh, wretched man that I am. You can hear Paul in this torment. He's conflicting. And I'm going to tell you, I remember that hope. After I got saved, I had had somewhat of an inundation because of association into the pornographic world, which at that time was magazines and underground movies. It ain't nothing like it is now through a phone. And I remember I got saved, but when I got saved, I was scared because I knew I had a problem. And I can't stand being hypocrite. I just, you know, if you're going to do it, do it. If you're not going to do it, don't do it. I didn't want to be a guy that had this thing going on in his life that he had to hide from everybody forever and hope they don't find.
Well, that brings condemnation.
Yeah, I didn't want to be him. And I remember reading books, you know, how to Keep from Falling. I remember reading books because that was a real. I didn't want that. I didn't want that. I wanted to. If I'm going to live for Jesus, I want to live for Jesus.
Let me stop you right there, though. I don't want people to perceive that we're saying, if we going. If you going to live for Jesus, do it right, that you'll never fall. Because that's not true.
That's what's the difference.
There's a difference between being a captive Christian and you fall sometime. You know, the Bible says, though a righteous man fall seven times, he gets up again.
I can bottom line it. There's a difference between weakness and wickedness.
Absolutely.
Okay. I'm not talking about weakness. Everybody, we all sin has weaknesses. Wickedness is intentional. I don't intend on giving this part of my life up. And I'm not fighting it. I'm not trying to. I'm going to live this double life. And you know, whatever happens, happens. That's what I'm talking About. And I didn't want to be that.
Right.
But I knew this thing was big. I knew it wasn't small. And so I entered. I so identify with Romans 7. And I believe if preachers would preach it, everybody would identify and say, that guy wrote that 2000 years ago. And it's like he's been sitting in my apartment with me, hearing my conversations.
It's something every human deals with.
Everybody. I get saved. So I'm born of my spirit, and in my inner man, I delight in the law of God. So my soul and my flesh have been in partnership for years. So if you didn't get saved or you were 30 for 30 years, your flesh sends signals and your mind says, okay.
And there's no struggle.
And that's what you just do it. Well, there's struggle after you make the decision and what it takes you into.
I mean, before salvation.
So there's no internal struggle.
Yes.
So you're sitting there, you know, you've been locked up 50 times, you've had 100 relationships, because you do whatever your flesh wants. And you're addicted to a million things because that's the power of the flesh. But then the spirit moves in. And three, I've always said three is a crowd. Now, the guy, he's right here, he's got his soul, his spirit is sending godly signals, but his flesh is still sending.
That's that little devil. And the angel on your shoulder.
That analogy is so perfect, actually. The old Bugs Bunny cartoons analogy, one sitting on both shoulder talking to you, and you're in the middle trying to say, what am I going to do? That's the imagery that Paul paints. And so he says, it's the answer that blew my mind. And I found this spirit, soul and body teaching kind of through personal struggle. And it was a revelation to me. I tell people it's one of the most freeing revelations I ever got. He goes into Romans 8, who shall deliver me from this body of death, O wretched man? Then he says, Chapter 8, verse 1, thanks be to God through Jesus Christ. You know that I've been delivered from the power of death. That's Romans, chapter 8, verse 1. And it's a thanks be to God. And it's boom, like a bomb goes off. But then going down to verse five, he said, so with the mind, we serve the Lord. Most people think it's with the spirit because they say, be led by the spirit. I will make the decision to be led by the spirit with my mind. Being led by the spirit means his Promptings are obeyed. When the signal is, we decide. Exactly.
He prompts.
And so Jesus said my words. They are spirit and they are life. So when I partake of the word of God, I'm not just reading a book.
Oh, I wish people would get this.
I am taking the same substance of the third person of the Trinity, the Spirit of God, and putting it in my head.
Put it in my head.
I'm taking spirit and putting it in my head.
And people ask me, come on, Hope, when I say, have you been in the Word today, or did you read how many times you've been in the Word this week? If they come to me and say they don't want to hear that, or I'm struggling with that, and I'm like, well, have you been in the Word? And they're like, come on, Hope, or come on, Mama or come on, whoever.
Like, give me an answer. Give me a real answer.
Does it really matter?
Yeah, give me a real answer.
Yes, it does.
I don't know that in today's church we put that much importance on the Word. I just read. I literally read a tweet today that the three people on Jeopardy. Were given a clue to the Lord's Prayer, and none of the three of them knew what it was.
Wow.
That's where we are. And I think that is. That goes right to the pulpit. I don't blame that on them three people. I blame that on the fact the Word is so watered down and people have heard so little Gospel. And I won't go off on that because, I mean, that rouses me.
It's just not a priority.
The Word of God has not made a priority in the pulpit, so it's surely not been made a priority in people's life. There's no Bible sitting around anymore because we got a little Bible app if we need it. I love my Bibles. I love to take my notes, and I love to get in there and study and draw things together and mark it up. But here again, let me go back to this. Romans 8, 5, he said, those who serve the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit. Those who serve the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh. For the spiritual, I mean, for the carnal mind, is enmity toward God. It is not subject to God, nor can it be.
Nor can it be.
Listen this now. Christians who are not subject to God, you've been born again, but your mind's.
Still calm, because your mind, it's where you go with your mind. I'm determined I'm set to listen to this. I'm set to watch this. I'm set to go here.
Now let me. I'm going to go here. So you got to. You haven't renewed your mind. You haven't been in the Word, but you've been saved. So the preacher gets up and starts preaching about tithing. The carnal mind is not subject to God.
It's an enemy of God.
Nor can it be. And it fights God. It's the enemy of God. So your mindset is sitting there literally fighting the word of God, and all God's trying to do is bless you.
Oh, this is so good.
That's all he's trying to do. So when I take the word of God and says, God says, but I tell those who hear me, love your enemies, bless those who curse you. And you're sitting there, your mind is fighting that the whole time because it's a carnal. And I'm trying to get spirit into your mind so that you can get freedom in that area of your life.
But you'll never get free until you set your mind on things above.
I take the. I set my mind on things of the Spirit, the Word of God. When I put my mind on what God says about my economy, then my mind is subject to God's promptings in my economy, to what he says about relating to others. Submit myself to that. But when you've got somebody who knows no word, right, they are eternally saved. They're going to go to heaven, but you're going to be miserable here, miserable on earth, miserable.
No freedom, no abundant life here on Earth.
So it is a mindset. That word set, you know, that don't sound like a big word, but I studied that, and it's a medical term. A medical term that the medical field would use is resetting a bone, right? So this is what blew my mind. God already is telling you that your mind is broken.
Broken. It's got to be reset.
It's got to be set. Those who set their mind on the things of the Spirit is life and peace. But those who are carnally minded is death. I tell people, the area where you refuse to have your mind renewed, something's deteriorating. Something's deteriorating. The area where you're being renewed and you have submitted to God, it's peaceful. Even though chaos can be around you, you have peace inside because peace is never external. It's an inside job. So that is what we're talking about. We're talking about captive Christians. Every one of you saved have been Delivered from the power of sin. But are you free?
Yeah.
We shall know the truth and the truth will set us free. Because here's the goal of God. He who the Son sets free is free. Indeed, is free. Free.
And that's what we want for you. That's what we want for ourself. That's what we want for our family, what we want for our children, what we want for our church and our friends. We want this for you. But it is not quick. It is not easy. It is a process. It is a lifelong process. Your spirit comes alive immediately. Your mind is being renewed. It's daily. It is a every single day renewing of your mind and your body. Well, I don't know what to tell you about that. Ain't nothing going to happen to that body.
Let me go back. I've told people a million times, I love my heritage. But people from the Holiness persuasion and I could name about 10 denominations, it wasn't just ours. People from the Holiness persuasion, I look back on it, they were trying their best to get the body saved. Your body, your body, your spirit has been saved. Your mind is being saved. Your flesh is not saved.
No.
So they can tell you not to cut your hair and you grow it to the floor. They can tell you not to wear makeup. They can tell you to wear your sleeves a certain length. They can do all that stuff. Your flesh ain't saved. Turn your flesh loose and your flesh can ruin your life by suppertime. You don't need a devil and you don't need a demon. You just turn your flesh loose, tear your life all to pieces. Okay, now let me tell you what I mean by that. The Bible says this corruptible shall put on incorruptible and this mortal shall put on immortality. In other words, I am going to have to wait until I get to heaven to get a new body. What does that new body mean? It says glorified. A body that reflects God and doesn't fight him. So right now it's telling me In Romans 7, my body fights him. So my flesh is going to have to be subdued and it's going to have to be managed. Some of you say, man, I want to hear more about this in the vault. I'm going to pump the Vault. In the Vault, I've done spirit, soul and body teaching. And I've done another teaching called flesh management, which has some of this teaching in it, but may be a little bit different. So if you go on our website, you'll see a subscription to Vault. It's My archive and would love for you to have that. Those of you that want it. I probably somewhere preach on this about one time a year because it's so needed. I preach stuff on. On tithing. I preach stuff on spirit, soul and body. There's about four things that I will find me a spot if I have to do a throwback or something. These are things that I think everybody needs to hear. Yeah, I gotta go back to it because everybody needs to hear it. This is one of them. But I don't know when I'm gonna preach it again. If you'd like to study it further, it's in the Vault. Well, our 30 minutes has come and gone, baby.
This is such a good teaching, Ron. If people would really, really, truly grasp this, get ahold of it, and then app. It's revolutionary to your life.
I don't know how people don't want to start another 10 minute conversation. It bothers me when people come with a problem and I come at them with the word and they all, they.
Roll their eyes at you. Oh, no, no, no, no. Give me something else. Why are you always so spiritual?
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet.
It's a light.
It is a light unto my pathway. Thy word will I hide in my heart.
So I don't see that.
I do not sin against God. And I'm sorry if you have come from a place, a generation, a culture that does not value that. But let me tell you something. Heaven and earth will pass away. The Bible says that lusts fade, but the word of God will remain forever.
You know that scripture. Hide his word in your heart so that you don't sin against God. I've always said if you got a sin problem, you got a lack of word problem.
No doubt.
If you got a sin problem, there's something in the word you're missing.
The times where I've ever become more vulnerable to the temptation to sin have been times when there's been the least amount of word going in my life. That's right, because it washes you, it strengthens you, and when you don't have it, it weakens you and it washes you and it cleanses. I've told people, they said, which one will win? Your spirit or your flesh? And I'll tell them whichever one you feed.
That's right.
You know what a fast is? A fast is a season where you deny the flesh so that you will. Now, you may be fasting for something, there's no problem with that. But in essence, your spirit, man is growing stronger. And you're telling your flesh, go over there and sit down, be quiet. You're not driving.
Leave me alone.
And so this is a very, very powerful teaching that to me, revolutionized my life, because I kept going down to the altar, wanting the pornography thing to go.
Yeah. Begging God to take it from me.
Begging him with tears running down my face. But it wasn't until I opened that word of God and started washing my mind that that thing. That thing began to diminish. It began to diminish.
Not quick, not easy, but it's doable. So if you know somebody who really is struggling, because God forbid, I know it's not you in any sin area in your life, if you know somebody that's struggling, seriously, pass this along. Share it.
Excuse me.
