Let's Talk About Mindsets! | Hope Carpenter

Hope Carpenter teaches that your mindset shapes your emotions and outcomes, drawing on Proverbs 23:7 and Romans 12. She explains how poverty, victimhood, faith, and success mindsets are learned and passed down but can be renewed through Scripture, worship, disciplined habits, and speaking what God says about you.

You know, when you pastor people, you have to work with people, right? And so you come in contact with people who are sour, have a bad attitude, need some help with their mindset. And so that's what we're going to talk about tonight. We're going to talk about mindset and why does it matter? You know, does it really, really matter about mindset? Does my thinking really outweigh my hard work? Does it outweigh my education? Does it outweigh my bank account? Come on, somebody. Does it outweigh my past? Absolutely. Our mindset absolutely will outweigh all of those things. Why? Because the Bible says in Proverbs 23:7, as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. And then out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So we are created right in God's image. We're created in the image of God. And so what God does, we have that same capability and DNA in us, right? We're supposed to reflect our Father. So if we're created in his image, God spoke and things happen. God spoke and things were created. God spoke and the lights came on, right? Things got birthed into the earth. Life came. So he did that with his words. And we are created in his image. So we have that same power. So, number one, we think it, right? We speak it and then we have it. Think it, speak it, and we have it. Now, I'm going to stop you right there before you send me ugly emails and say, oh, you're preaching prosperity gospel and blab it and grab it and name it and claim it and all of that stuff. Listen, it's really what you believe. It's what you believe to be true. That, that it when, that's when it moves into your heart. I was never really a good math student. My brain is wired on the other side from the math, wiring, and so algebra and things like that were really hard for me. So I'm going to use an algebraic example for you. So I heard it, I heard it taught, but if I don't believe it and I don't understand it, and I say to myself, how is this important? How is this even helping me? Why do I need this? You don't get never comes into really, really believing. And so it doesn't work for you. Do you get it? Until you really believe it and receive it, you're not able to make that work for you. Okay, So I was about to graduate high school and go to college. And I had applied to many, many colleges and had tried out for music scholarships that's what I was going for. And I just remember talking that, saying I wanted to go here. And I had applied at places all over the country. And I remember sitting in a classroom and I had a couple of friends say to me, why do you think you're better than us? And that kind of hit me, you know, kind of weird. I was like, just because I'm trying to go to college and I'm applying at all these places and I'm not afraid to step out and, you know, leave home, why does that make me think that I'm better than you? My question was, why wouldn't you want to go for it? Why wouldn't you want to get a better education or leave? Why don't you want more? Listen, some of those people saying those things to me were actually smarter than me. They had a better GPA than me, but their mindset was right there where they were. Their mindset was right there, this town. And guess where they are today. Most of them are still in that town. It's neither. It's not good or bad. You know, it's not. One is better than the other. But it proves what I'm talking about. You have to think it before you achieve it. Listen, you don't get upstream by chance. When you're down here downstream and you're trying to go upstream, you don't get there by chance. You have to plan it, you have to execute it, and then you have to see it out. Are y' all getting this? You've got to see it here first, not see it in the natural. You have to see. See it in your mind before you see it in the natural. Listen, Paul influenced Timothy to get out of a certain thinking and a certain mindset. And what was that mindset he was trying to convince him to get out of? And it was fear. He looked at Timothy and he said, God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound. Yes, sound mind. God is not giving you a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. So you know what that whole scripture tells me? It tells me that my emotions are tied to my mindset. My emotions are tied to the way I think, think and the way that I feel. Come on, somebody. You struggle with depression. You struggle with anxiety. Are you bitter? Are you angry? Are you critical? What are you putting in here? What are you thinking about? This is so good, y'. All. You need to press share. You need to share this because there's some people with some stinking thinking and they're miserable, but they think it's everybody else's fault and have no clue that it's what they are meditating on, what they are ingesting and then digesting into their heart that is manifesting in their life. Listen, my mama told me this. She said, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. You can do anything that is so good. Not accounting for education, not accounting for ability, not accounting for finances, not accounting for favor. She said, hope, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Somebody say my mind. Somebody put in the chat, my mind needs to be fixed. Come on, somebody listen. I know now my mama gave me more than the same type of hair and the same type of nose, the features, all those things. She gave me a mindset. Set your mind on things above. Set your mind in the mindset of faith. The mindset of faith. Listen, I am amazed. That mindset is passed to generations. That's just amazing to me, but it's true. The mindset of racism. Nobody's born a racist, right? The mindset of a victim mentality. The mindset of poverty, the mindset even on the opposite side, the mindset of faith, the mindset of success. The Word also tells me this, that my thinking, my mindset can be changed. Whoa, you need to high five somebody. You need to high five yourself. Your mindset, the Bible says, can be changed. We renew our mind. Romans 12:1. You can renew your mind. How? Through the washing of the word of God. Some of y' all listening to me right now are stuck in a life that you hate. I'm getting all close because I'm excited about this. I could run around this whole stage right now. But you're stuck in a mindset in a life that you hate. You know that you got stinking thinking. You know that you don't have a kingdom mentality. Listen, wherever you let your life go, your mind go. Your life automatically follows. Wherever your mind goes, your life follows. So how do I change it? What do I do? Number one, you got to get in the Word. That's what the Bible says. It says you renew your mind through the washing of the word. So if you've got a thinking problem, if you've got a negative problem, if you've got a feeling fear problem, you got anxiety problem, you've got a oh, poor me, me, me, me, me. Everybody hates me. Nobody likes me, I think I'll go eat worms mentality. Everybody gets the best stuff, and I'm always left out. You know those people, right? You're not in the Word. The Word is what changes you. Yeah. It's not what your mama said about you. It's not what your daddy said about you. It's not what the world says about you. It's not what social media says is right. It's what God's word says about you. He says you are the head and not the tail. He says you are healed and you are not supposed to be walking around sick. He's already paid the price for that. You are more than an overcomer. You are more than a conqueror through Christ. Not because you. Not because I'm that good. Not because you're that good, but it's through Christ Jesus. It's through the anointing. So we got to get in the Word. The Word is like spiritual soap for our mind and then two. It's discipline to live like this is a disciplined life. Listen, we can't eat unhealthy and expect not to be unhealthy physically. Right? We can't have poor sleep habits, expect not to be unhealthy mentally and physically. We cannot never exercise and be lazy and not have cellulite on our thighs. Right. Or heart problems. See, we want to come down to the altar and have somebody pray diabetes off of us. We don't want to change anything. Come on. It takes discipline to have a six pack on your stomach. It takes discipline to lose weight. It takes discipline to push the plate back. It takes discipline to go to bed and have eight hours of sleep. It takes discipline to be positive. It takes discipline to be full of faith. It takes discipline to be encouraging and uplifting and see the glass half full and instead of seeing it half empty, especially when all you see is the opposite. But isn't that what faith is anyway? It's not looking at what you see. It's not looking at all the things that are wrong. It's saying what God says about you. Set your mind on things above where Christ is, where the anointing is. That's where you got to set your mind. Listen, I did a word study on that word set. That word set is the same word for casting a broken arm, a broken bone or a broken leg. Setting it. You know, when you go, if your child broke a bone, you have to go get it set in the cast that holds it so tight so it can heal. Set your mind on things above. Hold it so tight so that your mind can heal. Whoa. That's so good. Yes, it's fire. It's good. Set it that firm. Stay in the Word. Stay in worship. Stay around the right people. Listen. There's some places that you just can't go. When you're wanting to change your mindset, when you're wanting to change your life. There's just some people you cannot be around. There's some things you can't do when you're wanting to live a victorious life, when you're wanting to change your mindset. Set your mind not on what you see, not on your situation, not on your circumstance. Set your mind on things above. Put that in the chat. Set your mind on things above where Christ is. You know what that means? Get a different perspective. See, you're looking at it right here. But he wants to give you a bird's eye view. He wants you to come on up a little higher. Whoa. He wants you to come on up higher so that you can see it the way Christ sees it, the way God sees it. Set your mind. Put on new being renewed in knowledge. Listen, I want to read that to you. Colossians 3. Let me put on my glasses because it's very difficult to see at 52 colossians 3, 2, 10. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Listen. Then he goes on to say this. This is how you do it. He says, put to death. Therefore whatever belongs to your earthly nature, you have to put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature. And then he gives us examples. Sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourself of all such things as these. Anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other. Since you have taken off the old self with the practices, that's the old self ways, right? You've taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge, in the image of its creator. So that discipline to take off the old self and put on the new self, which is being renewed when you do all those things, when you put away those things which is being renewed in knowledge. Knowledge in the image of its creator. Y', all, this is good stuff. This is somebody's answer tonight. This is somebody's way out. This is somebody's prayer being answered right here on how to come out. Faith is calling things as Though, listen, things that are not as though they are. It's not saying that everything's going to go away, that all the strife and all the pain and all the trouble. No, it's saying, but you're looking at the strife, you're looking at the pain, you're looking at the trouble. And you're calling it what God says. This is good stuff. See, this is what the Bible says is when you see the rebellious kids, you call them mighty men and women of God. You don't look at them and say, you're driving me crazy. No, you say what God says. It's when you see the debt that you're in and you say, oh, but I know that I serve a God where all my needs are supplied. And I keep on being obedient. I'm tithing, I'm giving offerings. I'm being faithful in my finances. I'm stewarding the way God tells me to steward. And I know that I'm coming out of this debt. It's when you see a horrible marriage. But you say what God says. You say, I keep honoring. I keep serving y'. All. This is good. It's when you have a body in pain and you say, I know that I'm healed. Oh, I lay my hands on my body wherever I'm hurting. Why don't you do it right now? Wherever you are hurting in your body, lay your hands on yourself and decree and declare what God says about you. By his stripes, you are healed. The payment is paid in full by the stripes of God, your body is healed. And I decree and declare over you right now that faith is arising to believe for miracles in your. In your body tonight. Listen, it doesn't just happen. You are in charge of your mindset. You're in charge of your mindset. You're in charge of what you put in. You're in charge of what comes out of your mouth. You are in charge of your life. Whatever you put in the heart is just going to produce. It's just like ground. You put corn in the ground, the ground is going to produce corn. You put beans in the ground, beans are going to come up. You cannot plant tomatoes and expect okra to come up. And you cannot put bad things in your mind. Negativity, doubt, disbelief. Never be in the word. You're more filled with social media and you're more filled with television and movies, secular things than you are the word of God and acceptance. Expect to live a life of overflow and victory. It's just that simple. It's work. It's your mindset and you are in charge of it. Why don't you start changing yours today? People who are negative make me itch. I can't be around it. I really cannot be around it. It frustrates me so bad when people see the glass half empty. Any situation, they'll be like, oh, but in always point toward the negative. I'm so thankful that my mom gave me the ability to think past my certain circumstances. I am so thankful for it. I expect good things to happen to me. I wake up every day and I say, thank you, Jesus, that I am in line for kingdom blessing, because that's. I am a king's kid. Not that I'm worthy, but I'm just born into that bloodline. Thank you, Jesus. Aren't you thankful? Aren't you thankful tonight that you got a new name, that you got a new bloodline? And everything that's coming to Jesus is coming to me. Everything that's coming to Jesus is coming to you. But you got to work it. You've got to work it. He's done. He sat down. His work is finished. When he said it's finished, it is finished. But now we are partakers. We are working with him. He is an if, then God, he says, if you do this, then I'll do that, right? If you do this, then I'll do that. Living a victorious life is not easy and it doesn't just happen. But I want to encourage you today to start changing your mindset and you will start seeing your world shift. Don't say what you see. Say what God says about you and your situation and your circumstance. I love you so much. I just want you to be everything that God says you can be. I want you to have everything that God says you can have. I want you to walk in kingdom authority. John 10:10. Y' all know I love the scripture. He said, I've come that you have life. The thief comes to do all these things. He said, but I came that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly. And that is my prayer for you tonight. But we got some work to do. I want you to get in the Word. I want you to know the Word better than you know the Walking Dead series. I want you to know the Word more than you know lyrics to songs. I want you to get into worship and it will wash you. It's like spiritual soap. We are in partnership with the anointing and your life should be better the longer you serve him. I love you so much. I speak blessing on you. How about share this with everybody? You know, it's a powerful word. If you'll get ahold of it, it'll change your life. Go over to YouTube. Go to Hope Carpenter Ministries.
