Message For Redemption Young Adults -Pastor Hope Carpenter

Pastor Hope Carpenter delivers a live sermon aimed at young adults, critiquing contemporary millennial habits (undiscipline, dependence on technology, seeking shortcuts) and tracing their roots to family breakdown and cultural changes. She contrasts this with her generation's ethic of perseverance and argues that modern gadgets have reduced people’s willingness to work and to form spiritual disciplines. The sermon centers on spiritual warfare language (John 10:10; Ephesians 6): the devil is described as a thief who 'steals' and 'embezzles' small portions of life (joy, peace, relationships) and as an opportunist who seeks to make people surrender. Carpenter teaches that knowing the Word of God (logos) and learning to apply timely rhema words are essential weapons; she exhorts the audience to memorize Scripture, read a physical Bible, cultivate spiritual habits, and take personal responsibility to live the abundant life God intends (peace, contentment, mature character). The message mixes doctrinal teaching, anecdotes (Jacob/Esau; Job), humor, and interactive scripture recitation with volunteers.
Chapters
That's what they say about you. You know, they say this generation, this millennial group of people, is undisciplined, spoiled, lazy, whining, careless, sloppy, want to be petted, give up easy. And if you'll just stop being offended and just take an inventory of your life and say, does that apply to me? Have I been lazy? Have I been selfish? Have I been haphazard and sloppy and didn't do a very good job? Have I been the kind of person who starts out strong, gung ho, yeah, I'm going to do all this, but two weeks later, not feeling it. You know, that's what they say about you. And to your defense, it's not necessarily all your fault. There has been a breakdown in the family. Most of you, how many of you grew up with a dad in your life? You say, yeah, I had a dad in my life and he was awesome. Put your hand down if he was awesome. Keep your hand up if he was. Put your hand up if he was. I have a dad, and he was awesome. Okay, okay. Raise your hand if you were raised by just a single mom. Okay. Keep your hand up if she was awesome. I really believe, especially doing what I do now, teaching, healing the heart and going around and just helping people try to overcome the hurts and the pains and the of their past, that every one of us were raised in dysfunctional homes. Just. You weren't the only one, trust me. We all were raised in dysfunctional homes. We all had issues in our house. We all have issues with one parent or the other parent or both of them, or they were horrible, or nobody talked, or we just swept things under the rug, or I was beaten, or my mom was never there, or my dad worked third shift and I never saw him. You know, we all have issues in our family home. So to your defense, it's not necessarily all your fault. You just happened to be born in that time where there was a huge breakdown in your family. And then also one of the other horrible things. Where's my phone? I don't know where my phone went, but that's one of the things that's wrong with us and that's wrong with you. You don't have to get it out. I just wanted to hold it up. Hold up your phone. I know you got it in your lap. God forbid it be put up, honey child. Got that phone. I'm getting ready. I mean, be honest. How many of you have checked your Facebook and your Instagram while you've been in here tonight? Be honest. I did, too, over There on the front row during praise and worship. But to my defense, I was posting on my story, technology advancing the Internet. How quick and how easy it is to get information. How quick and easy that you can just figure something out and have an answer. Technology, nothing in your life has made you work for anything. I tell people this example of a college paper. Our middle son Chaz is at Emanuel College right now. He's a junior. And he was just talking about his papers and this, that, and the other that he had to do and all this research he had to do and had to do a one hour speech. And I said, son, I ain't worried about you. I said, with all of the information that y' all got at the click of a button, I said that you can have all this research done. I said, do you know in my time when we had to get our happy tail up and walk to the library? You hear me? To the library. Want no Google? We had to walk to the library. Then we had to get in the card catalog. Y' all don't even know what a card catalog is. Look up where the book was. If there was even a book, the subject that we needed, then we actually had to read it. There was no even Google. Once you got the book to highlight the subject, you were. We had to read it to find it and had to write it down. We didn't have laptops, we didn't have phones, we didn't have iPads to put it on. We had to write it down. Okay, no Google searches. But what did that teach us? That taught us how to persevere. That taught us how to finish something to the end. It taught us how to make it happen. If it was gonna happen, we had to make it happen. And it was difficult. It was not easy. Everything you do is easy. College student today can lay in their dorm bed, Google everything, highlight it, copy and paste it. Ain't got to type one thing. Change a few words here and there. Don't get thrown out for plagiarism. Come on. I know how y' all do looking for the easy way out. How less of a job do I have to do, still get by and still succeed? What's the least amount of work that I have to do and still keep my job? Do you see the mindset that's permeating that surrounds you in everything that you do? And do you know how frustrating it is for us? Do you know how much I want to knock your flaky eyebrows off your face when I have somebody like that around me? And on my staff spent more time on their eyebrows than they did what I asked them to do. I don't understand Jesus. I said slap their eyebrows. Flaky eyebrows. And there's a lot of difference between us. But the main difference is this. My generation is a working, fighting generation. Yours is not. Yours is not. Mine's a working, fighting. Get up. Make it happen. Yours is not. Yours is a gadget generation. See, I didn't have gadgets, so I had to work for it. You don't have to work for it because you have gadgets. You can't help it, right? Hate it. Haters. You look at me going, hater. You got your Bible? Of course it is. Anybody got a real Bible up in here? Up in here. Okay. So thankful that we have Bibles on our phones, on our iPads. But I'm telling you, if you will trust me, if you will trust me, there is nothing like. Whoo. I could cry thinking. There is nothing like studying and reading the real word of God. And a pen mark on it in a tear stain that went down and hit your pen and you got a date on it. And then two years later, you go back and you happen to be reading that same thing, and God takes you back and shows you what he's brought you through. You don't get that on the phone. I would challenge every one of you to get a real Bible. You don't have to bring it everywhere you go. Your phones are great for that. But at home and in your study time, if you will read it like this, it will do something so special for your life and for your spiritual life. So get your Bible out whatever way you got it. John 10:10. John 10:10 says this. This is one of the first verses I ever learned. It says this. It says, the thief comes only except to steal, to kill and to destroy. Say that with me. To steal, to kill and to destroy. To steal, to kill and to destroy. But I have come that they may have life. That's what Jesus said. He said. Jesus is saying. He's saying the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. But I come that they may have life and that they may have life more abundantly. That's good news. Jesus came for you to have a good life. He wants you to be happy. He wants you to be blessed. He wants your marriage to work. He wants your kids to be happy. He wants you to have plenty of money. God wants you to have a good life. That is the goal. The goal is the dog, the house, the picket fence, all those things that you have in your mind that would be such a great life. That is the goal. And God says that you can have it and then some more abundantly. He said, I came that you have life and then some, that you have life and then you have abundant life. If we're real honest, how many of us are living in the abundant life of God? Not many. Not many people are living in the abundant life of God. And there is a war. There is a war between you and that abundant life, right? There is a war, there is you, and then here's the abundant life. And then there's warfare on the inside. And who is that? It's the devil. It's his job description. That's the devil's job description. John 10:10. To steal, to kill and to destroy. Let me tell you something. You cannot defeat what you don't understand. If you don't understand who you're fighting and how he works, you cannot defeat him. I was talking to my daughter in law earlier today, Jordan, and we were talking about an issue somebody was having. And I said, jordan, I said, this is nothing but the enemy coming to steal the abundant life that God has from these people. She said, you know, two years ago when you would say stuff like that, she said, it used to make me so mad. So when it would apply to us, she said, because I thought it was just an excuse. I thought you were just saying that to make excuses for Chase or whoever. She said, I thought you were just saying, she said, but it's true. It's warfare. It is warfare between you and the abundant life of God. And at the end of the day, we're in a battle. You don't fight flesh and blood, you don't fight your spouse, you don't fight your boyfriend, you don't fight your parents, you don't fight your haters, you don't fight those people. We war. And our battle is against who? Spiritual wickedness in high places. Principalities, rulers of darkness. And the battle is this, that you never become what God wants you to be. It's that you never transition out of who they say you are. What your mama did to you and what your daddy didn't do to you and the rough life that you had, that you never transition out of all this stuff into the abundant life of God. That is the warfare over your life. Abundant living. What does that mean? Abundant living of God means past, regular. Who wants to live a regular life? I just don't want to live an average life. I want to live beyond regular, past, extraordinary. And God said that's yours. He said, but I came that you have life and you have it past regular. That you have it past just little common over here. You have extraordinary life. He said, that's why I came. But you got an enemy, you got an adversary. So you can't defeat what you don't understand. Okay? The devil comes to what? First, he comes to steal from you. That word literally means. The original word for steal is klepto. You ever heard of that? Kleptomaniac. You ever known one? You ever were one? The devil comes to klepto. Kleptomaniac. Even in psychology terms say that they can't even help what they do because it's so ingrained in their nature that it's part of who they are. It's part of their DNA. And that is part of Satan's DNA. He comes to take and everything from you. Listen, a kleptomaniac is still a Q tip, still a toothpick and a cotton ball. Things that don't even matter. Kleptomaniacs leave with everything out of your house. A tampon, toothpick, can of corn. Kleptomaniac. They just take things from you. Little things here and there. But the other word for steal is this. Listen, it also means embezzler. Do you know what that means? Do you know what an embezzler is? It's somebody who takes small portions over time. Come on, somebody. Small portions over time to where? You don't know. It's missing. The devil comes to steal. Klepto. Embezzle small portions out of your life. To where you just going along your happy sav. And you don't realize that he's done come and stole your joy. He's come and stole your peace. He's come and stole your man. He's come and stole your marriage. He's come and stole your finance. He's stolen sleep. And then 10 years, you look back and you're a mess. Embezzler. He comes to klepto. He comes to embezzle. Take small portions at a time. Takes your peace, takes your identity, takes your family, takes your joy. And I want to teach you tonight how to defeat him. I want to teach you tonight how to stop the thief from stealing and screwing up. Now, let me. Let me. Let me go ahead and say that it's not a co. Equal great God and a bad devil, and they are equal. It's not. The devil's under your feet, okay? The devil is under your feet. And he really has no power over your life. He only has the power that you give him. He only has the power that you give him. And the only power that you give him is when you're ignorant, when you don't know what God says about a certain thing in your life. So go to Ephesians 6:16. Let me read that. 6:16. Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one, and take the helmet of salvation. And the sword of the spirit, which is what? The what? A yoga class? A self help conference? The sword of the spirit. A rya event only. What A small group, A life group. The sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. The sword of the spirit. It's teaching you how to defeat the enemy, he said. And above all else, the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. You have to understand, when Paul is teaching this here, he's talking about being a soldier and using the sword of the spirit. And you have to understand this time they were in Roman time, so they were talking about Roman soldiers. And this is what Roman soldiers would do actively. They would actively every day refine their gift of being a warrior. They would carry a sword double its size. Not the actual size, but double its size so that they could practice it and build up endurance. Do you hear what I'm saying? It would be double the size. They would practice it so that they, they were taught too. They were taught not to cut, but they were taught to, to stab. They were taught to stab it. And in Roman times, it's true that they could kill their enemy even on 2 inches with that sword, jabbing in the right vulnerable, strategic place. Okay, so when he's teaching on putting on the whole armor of God, the people he was talking to understood that we don't know that. So thank you, Pastor Hope, for explaining that to us tonight. Right, but they were to stab their opponent in their weakest, most vulnerable place. And Paul was talking here about being a soldier and using the word of God. The sword of the spirit. The word of God, and using it on your enemy, who is who? Your husband. Your enemy is the devil. Right? We fight spiritual wickedness in high places. We don't fight each other. Right? But God show does use people, don't he? Satan does too. Okay, so when the Bible talks about the Word, the word he's talking about two different things. Either logos or rhema. Say that with me. Logos or rhema. Okay, Logos is this. It's the entire word of God. The Logos is the entire word of God. All right? Rhema is a specific right word in a right season. It's that. It's that jab. That's what a rhema word is, and that's what he's saying here. Above all else. When you're fighting in the spirit, you got to take up the word of God and use it against the enemy so that you can defeat the enemy. All right, that sounds good, doesn't it? Sounds real good. But if you don't know the logos, how you gonna use the rhema? It sounds so wonderful. But if you don't know this thing, you are going to lose every time. I just don't know why everything happens to me. I just. I can't win. I can't get ahead. I can't catch a break. Well, how long you been on Facebook today? And how long you been in the logos? You know more about everybody's baby, everybody. Cat being born, everybody. Dog went to the hospital. You know every recipe on Pinterest. You have more fake closets than you got real shoes. You listen, if you don't know the logos, you'll never be able to pick out the rhema when all hell breaks loose in your life. So stop whining to me. Stop whining. Don't nobody want to hear you crying, saying, everything just happens to me. No, it happens to everybody. The Bible says this. The rain comes to the just and the unjust. Job was tormented more than any man in the Bible. And the Bible says there was not one righteous man, man to be found other than Job. Job was known to be the only righteous man. And he lost everything. And God allowed it. But he knew how to fight. He survived it because he said, though he slay me, though he slay me, yet will I praise him though he take everything I got. I'll never stop praising him. Job knew what to do. Do you know what to do? You can't want temporary things and easy fixes and live a life full of victory and abundance. You can't. I wish you could. I wish I could go to the gym four times and look good. I wish I could. It don't work like that. That's why Ron has to reach down now and swat that way, not this way. Because I'm not willing to do it for real. Just tell the truth. I'm not willing. I'm not at a place where I. That I hate my cellulite bad enough. And when you get to a place that you hate your miserable, pitiful life bad enough. Failure after Failure after failure that you're willing to do something about it. Only then will change happen in your life. Your mom ain't gonna do it for you. She got her own problems. She on her fourth marriage. How's she going to help you? It's hard, isn't it? But it's true. At the end of the day, it's only you. And it's only you and Jesus. But let me tell you, it's enough. It's enough. It's enough. If you're willing to fight. You will not win. If you don't. There's a story in Genesis 25. I'm not going to read it for time, but it's about Jacob and Esau. I'd love for you to go read it tonight. Once you get home after, you go buy your real Bible at Walmart, then underline it for the first time ever and say, Pastor Hope. August 25, 2017. Genesis 25. About Jacob and Esau. And now it's called Jacob and Esau. See, in Bible times, they always put the oldest brother first. So it would be Chase and Chaz, my kids, or Zaden and Kellen. But in this story, it should have been Esau and Jacob, because Esau was the oldest. But now, all throughout history, now we read it. Jacob and Esau. Why? Esau was hungry one day. Just hungry. He was hungry, and he was due to the whole inheritance. He was due to get everything because he was the oldest hater. You couldn't help. He was born first, but he was getting it. But that day he was hungry, and his younger brother was sitting there eating a bowl of beans. And because he was hungry and he wanted a temporary fix, he said, I'll give you my inheritance if you give me that beans. He said, I'll give you. You can be first. You can get it all. I'm just hungry. Give me that soup. And he did it. And now he lost everything. Why? For a temporary fix. Because he wasn't willing to wait. And now, forever, it will be Jacob and Esau because he wanted a dumb bowl of chicken noodle soup. I think it was chicken noodle. It was probably lentil and fish. Something weird Mediterranean. But how many of us are forfeiting our abundant life, our future, our heritage for temporary junk for next weekend's party, for up on the roof? How many of us are forfeiting the abundant life of God that he said you could have? He said, but I came. He's sitting here telling you I came. I was born and I died so that you could have extraordinary life so that you could have a great life. And how many of us are forfeiting the whole plan of God for temporary things because we're lazy, because we're undisciplined, because we're not willing to fight, because we're weak, because we don't know the word of God and we're getting our tail whipped and our life never changes. Giving away our character for just moments of entertainment. Our character. I mean, when you step back and think about it, I mean, I've heard girls, people I've counseled, they'd be like, you know, I gave away my character. I would have never chose to go in a strip club, but my boyfriend just kept wanting me to go and want me to go. Gave away our character for temporary moments of entertainment. What are you forfeiting today for? Chicken noodle soup. And your chicken noodle soup will be something totally different than the girl sitting beside you. What is that thing that you're hungry for and you'll do anything for the next thing? He comes to kill, to steal. And that word kill means this. It doesn't mean he's coming around going to put a cap in your. He ain't lurking behind a bush and boom. He ain't trying to take you out. He ain't trying to make you run off the street and crash your car in a tree. That ain't what that means. He didn't come to physically kill you. That word literally translates this. He came to cause you to surrender on your own. To break you down so bad that you throw up your hands and say, I can't do it anymore. I'm out. I'm out. I can't do it anymore. It's too hard to cause you to surrender. The devil is an opportunist. He is an opportunist. He watches you and he listens to your mouth. And most of us in this room are so entrapped and so enslaved by what comes out of our mouth, we have set our own trap by our own mouth. There is power of life and there is power of death in your tongue. Whether you like it or not. You create your life by your words. You can talk yourself into misery or you can talk yourself happy. You know you can. Oh, and you want to be depressed? You know what? You know what Pandora station to go to? You know you do when you just went through a broke up, it's Brian McKnight all day, right? You create your own world. He's an opportunist. He watches and he listens. To you, to kill you, to trap you, to enslave you. He knows your habits. He knows your weaknesses. So he manipulates you, tries to trick you and get you to be so frustrated that you surrender. This is just too hard. I need a drink. I'm just going to get a drink. This is too hard. God, give me another one. Might as well make it a shot. And he knows exactly how to pick you. He just knows exactly how to set you up. And he knows you ain't got no weapon. He knows your sword so dull. He knows you ain't sharpened it, and he knows you ain't practiced with it. He can trip you up with it. Listen, if Satan try to tempt Jesus, you better know he's gonna try to tempt you. If Jesus had to fight the devil, you better know you gonna fight the devil. He wants you to throw your hands up and surrender. And I know you're sitting there going, well, Pastor Hope, I can't memorize. I've tried. I can remember the verse, but I can't remember the address. Or I can remember the address, but I can't get the verse right. We'll finish this. You make me feel like I'm living a. Okay, stop. So, baby, pull me closer in the. Oh, you can't memorize, abc. It's easiest. Your mama got elephant feet, abc. One, two, three. Baby, you and me. Oh, y' all didn't sing that when y' all were little. See, you can memorize, but how did you do it? You listened to it. Keep saying it. Just makes me feel better that you're admitting it. How did you memorize it? Even went to Apple and you bought it. 99 cent. And my women's conference is free and you still ain't registered. Come on, somebody. How bad you want to be free? How bad you want to be free? What if I had charged $40? Would you have put your nails down that much so you could have come? No, you'd have and complained about it. You got money for what you want to do. The truth. That's the truth of the matter. We all got money to do what we want to do. You memorized it over and over and you listened. I mean, have you ever tried to go to sleep at night and you could not shut that one song down? I mean, you just wanted to. Oh, I can't get this song out of my head. Because it's so far in your subconscious that it comes up without you even knowing it. And you can hardly even shut it down. That's what the word of God is supposed to be in your life. It's supposed to be so rich and you're supposed to be so full of it that when all hell breaks loose, it comes right out of you and. And you're like, oh, yeah, devil. Is that what you think? I got something for you. Oh, yeah, here's another one. Oh, yeah, devil. Ah, here. You think you're going to tear my marriage up? Ah, here we go. Oh, devil. You think I'm nothing. I'm the head and not the tail. Ah. I'm above and not believe. I thank you. I thank you, Jesus, that I am strong in you and in your power. Satan, you can't keep me down because I'm strong in the Lord, in the power of his might, might not in my own might. Ah, take that, devil. That's how you live the abundant life. Put your Pandora down. Unless it's going to be the word of God or scripture or Christian music that's going to build your spirit it up. Look where all the other John got you. Baby after baby, husband after husband, boyfriend after boyfriend. I'm not criticizing you, but you did it. I did it. We all did it. And we did it. For some reason, we weren't strong enough to win. If you don't fight, you won't win. And you cannot go into the fight of your life with the enemy of your soul with a dull weapon. And most of us go into a fight with no weapon at all. And we get our tail kicked and we get sicker and sicker and more depressed and more depressed and more defeated and more defeated. And there he is kleptoing. There he is embezzling, taking this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this and this and this from you. And then you turn around over your life and it's a wreck. And then you come to Jesus and go, please, I'm a millennial. I don't know how to work for anything. Can you just let somebody lay hands on me and dangle it and shamalama, ding dong and boom, the spiritual fairy dust on me and everything's good. No, no. The Bible says this. And it's so easy. It's so simple. Jordan and I had a conversation about all this this morning. You want to know how to not sin? You want to know how not to screw around? You want to know how not to get drunk? You want to know how to quit smoking pot? You want to know the Bible says, hide God's word in your heart so that you don't sin, period. Drop the mic, Walk off the stage. Hide God's word in your heart so that you don't sin. I have a charge for you. Get in the word of God, you say, Pastor Hope. I don't understand it. It just seems so foreign to me. Yeah, it does at first. It does. It really does at first. That's why the Bible says, put on the Lord. Put him on you. You've got to put him own you as your own individual person. You got to start putting him on you. And when you put him on first, just like you put on a new pair of shoes or you put on a jacket, it feels awkward at first. But then when you get them shoes broke in your good shoes, they your everyday shoes, you try to make them go with everything, and then you don't care if it matches because they feel so good. But that's the way it is with this at first. Yeah. If you don't have a habit of doing it, yeah, it's gonna be awkward. I don't have a habit of going to the gym, so it's awkward. And it hurts me and I ache and it pisses me off that I even have to go in there and look at people who have a habit of going in there. And then I make four excuses. Well, she ain't never pushed out three kids, I can tell you that. And she's 24 and I'm 48, so bye. Mine will still wiggle, jiggle. It just jiggles four times more than hers does. It's awful. But I want you to live the abundant life of God, y'. All. It's not a fairy tale. It's not something just for people on the stage. It's not just for your granny. It ain't just for people on tv. The abundant life of God is for all of us. Abundant life of God don't mean finances, don't mean you rich, gonna drive a Rolls Royce and you gonna have gold in your teeth. That ain't what the abundant life of God is. You know, Paul said this. He said, you know what? This is what I've learned. And this is what I want to say when I lay my head down and breathe my last breath. He said this. He said, you know, I've had a lot and I've had nothing. He said, but I've learned the secret of being content in whatever state I'm in, because that's the abundant life of God. The abundant life of God is laying down at night and you got peace in your home. You got. Listen, I would trade 14 Rolls Royce to have peace in my home, if you've ever lived without it, give it all. To have peace in my home, to have a husband who loves me and cares about me. The abundant life of God. But we got to stop making excuses and blaming everybody and do our part. Just start worrying about you. How about it? Won't you look at your neighbor and say, won't you start worrying about you? Stop blaming everybody else and start. How much scripture do you know? Look at them and say, how much scripture do you know? How many? Could you quote me right now? All right, I'm gonna do something real fast. I got a hundred dollar bill in my purse. Hundred dollar. Make you holler some scriptures out. Oh, wait, Whoa, whoa. This is what we gonna do. Hold up. All right. Who thinks they got some scriptures in their heart? All right, I'm gonna take do four of you. Let's do you. Okay, Raise your hand. You got some scritzles. Come on up here. Up on the stage. Come on. Yeah. No Bibles. No Bibles back here. Yes, honey, you. And then way back here, you. Come on, you. $400. Oh, no. You gonna fight for it. You gonna fight for it. This is a game show. It's real. All right, four of you. Okay, Stand right here. All right, who's gonna be the checker? Who's got their Bible out? Or do it on your phone? It's quicker. So say the scripture. Say the address first. Like John 10:10. You gotta know the addresses. No. Yeah, you do. No, I don't. Okay. John 10:10. The thief comes but to steal, kill, and destroy. But I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Y' all should all know that one tonight. Okay, here we go. Go one. Just one.
All right. John 3:16. For God so gave the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever should have a perished life, believe in him, would everlasting life.
Yay. She braver than y'. All.
Genesis 1:1.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
I'm gonna do the twenty dire Psalms. Psalms 23. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He leaded me by the still. Oh, I was gonna say the whole thing.
Touching Jesus.
Yes. Let me think.
You said John 3:16. She did. She did.
Okay.
John 3:16. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth him shall have eternal life. Should not perish. And should not perish and have eternal life.
All right. James 4:7. Submit yourself unto. Huh? Oh, James 4:7. Submit yourself to God and resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Go, girl.
I'm gonna drop the seed and see if y' all can tell me where to find it. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13.
I'm gonna do Ephesians 6. Children, don't pay your parents in law for this. Sprite.
You tapping out?
No, no, no, no, no, no. Exodus.
I don't know if I could do this or not, but I was at Pastor Paula's class, and I know a song, so is that okay if I just sing the song?
All right.
So Malachi's 3 and 10. It says brings. Bring me the tide and our tent into the storehouse, and I will bring you to the blessings to the Lord.
If you got to sing them, sing them. You got another one. You got. Hold up. When she got to tap out. She about to tap out. I'm giving you five seconds.
Oh, Lord, please enlarge my territory, that your hand will be upon me and keep me from evil. Jbez prayer.
Am I still in? I'm trying. Surreal. Are you done? Oh.
No. I'm gonna do Our Father prayer. Is it First John? Our Father prayer.
Our Father pray. Yeah. First Our Father pray.
Our Father, which all in heaven. I'll be that name, that one.
Prayer, John. Matthew 6. Thank you. 5, 4.
Our Father which are in heaven, how be thy name? Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as is in heaven. For forgive us our day, our daily bread. And forgive those who trespass us, trespasses us. Lead us not in temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, the glory. Amen.
All right, this is another song for Pastor Paula.
Those of y' all who didn't know that was the Father Prayer.
Okay, so this is another song from Pastor Paula. It's like stop and let me tell you. Stop and let me tell you. Stop and let me tell you Good.
Something.
Something.
Like that.
I know that song, but then I also know another one. Thessalonians, something. Always give thanks to the Lord, no matter what you're going through. Pretty much always give thanks to the Lord, you know?
Look how she looking at you, though.
Yeah, Yeah.
I may have to on that one. No, she had a good song. Hold on. One more. I said, don't you got another 100? No, I don't. Keep going. Do one more. Redeem yourself. One more.
All right, all right, all right. One more, one more, one more. I only know. I only know the. Oh, yeah. Malachi 3 and 10. Barry did that one. All right, I know one. But somebody already said it, though. Can I say it again? I could do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.
She said. Amen. And what is. What is the scripture?
Wait, what's the John.
What y' all all need to learn? Jesus wept.
If it helps if I sing a song. Jesus loves the little children of the world.
All the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white. Jesus loves the little children of the world.
Is that a scripture?
Let the words of my mouth, the meditation of my heart, be pleasing in your sight.
You need to work on your addresses. All right?
Next, I'm gonna use the one I used to use on my parents. Ephesians 6, and I believe it's 2 or 3. It says, Parents, do not provoke your children to wrath.
Yes. Okay. It's riding on you. You got to have a good one. You got to have the scripture in the. And the address. Okay? Scripture in the address.
All right. I don't know. John 1:1.
Just think, think. Think of some scriptures. Think that you pray the scriptures, you pray.
Psalms 91.
Do it, baby.
I don't. I know that. My gr. I know Psalms 91.
Helper with Psalm 91. He.
He who. Who dwells in the. In the safet. Place of the blue sky. Shadow. Bad shadow of the Almighty.
She could have it said.
She tapped. She said. She knows. She don't know. No addresses.
I'm going to do the Book of Proverbs. Should we speak about the foolish? No, that's chapter one with the foolish son. And he's going out and robbing, killing and. Well, no. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Is also good, too. No, but I know I might do that one, too. But I'mma do it proper.
You know what I'm gonna say. You won. Y' all playing me? Y' all playing me? God is a rewarder of the diligent. You never know what Hope's gonna pull out her pocket. I'm telling you, the word of God will change your life. It will change the whole trajectory of your life. The way you're going, your life could be going down a terrible road. But I pray, I promise you, on my life. May ants crawl out of my nose and into my mouth every day of my life. If I'm lying, the Word of God will change the whole direction of your life. If you will employ it, if you will give it a job in your life, it will change you. How many of you are ready to defeat the Devil. And do your part. Do your part. Amen. I love you. Let me pray for you. Stand up. Yes. You know what I want you to do? I just want you to put your arms around each other's shoulders. I just want you to squeeze somebody and love on somebody. You know, we're family. We are family. And if I am the mama of this church, it is my responsibility. It's my responsibility to tell you where you're wrong and to celebrate you when you're right. And you got to learn to take instruction. You got to learn to take criticism. You got to learn that all criticism isn't negative criticism. And discipline. The Bible says he disciplines those that he loves. Why do you discipline your own children? Because you love them. And you don't want them to show out and act out and fart in public. I mean, they can do it at home, but don't do it at school. School. Don't make her call me. Right. Or pee pee out on the playground. I mean, you know, you discipline your kids because you love them. And sometimes we, we don't need fluffy stuff and we don't need shouting and we don't need rolling around in the floor because sometimes we leave dumb as rocks. And our life never shifts and our life never changes. But if you could make a few adjustments, if you could employ a few disciplines, if you could put down some things, if you could give the word of God as much time as you give Facebook. Think about how much time you spend on just Facebook stalking people that you don't even know, hating on people that don't even know you looking at them. You know what I call those time wasters? I do a consecration weekend about twice a year. And where I only take 10 women, I hand pick 10 women. It's costly, it's about $600 for the whole weekend, but it covers your lodging and your food. And it's one on one time with me. And I teach you how to discipline yourself and to live a consecrated life. And one of the whole teachings that I do is how to. How to eliminate time wasters in your life. It's powerful teaching, and that's what social media has become, just a complete time waster. Think of how clean your house could be. Think of the meals that you could have prepared for your children who will never, never forget their mama making their favorite dish. But you wasted your whole day on people who don't even care about you. And the people who love you the most just kick to the side. Hush. Wait a minute, wait a minute. Wait a Minute I'm on Facebook, I'm texting somebody. Time wasters. If you would give the word of God, I'm telling you, test him. Test him to see if he will not change your life in 30 days. I give you 30 days if you will add up as much time as you spend on things that are wasteful, wasteful time, time wasters. And then take it and replace it with being in the word of God or listening to praise and worship or to reading a good, healthy, godly book. Your life will shift, change. You will have more peace, you will have more joy. You will have better sleep, you will have better friends, you will make better decisions because the Holy Ghost is going to arrest you when you about to make a bad one. He will tell you things about your spouse, he will tell you things about your children because you're so close to him, you won't have to wonder anymore. He'll tell you you and he'll show you how to fix it. He'll show you how to take that rhema word out of the logos word and defeat the enemy over your life. Lord, I speak a blessing over every woman in this room. I know they want to serve you and love you and live an abundant life or they wouldn't be here tonight. So, God, I pray tonight they'd leave encouraged and maybe even their eyes opened and God, maybe a radical shift and a change. Maybe they don't even know you and they want to serve a God. Maybe they didn't know you were that good, but they say, yeah, I'd like to serve a God who came to give me life and give me an abundant life and, and yeah, I can serve this God to where I don't have to live defeated, that she's given me every tool I need. I just have to it. So, God, tonight I pray that you would encourage every woman. Lift up their head, God. Lift their chin up, God, I pray that they could take a deep breath and they got enough strength to make it again, Lord, that they can. They got enough strength tonight. They say, you know what? I'm going to give it a try one more time or I'm going to give it a try for the very first time. And I thank you, God, that you are a rewarder of people who, who diligently seek you, who. Who are diligent, who plan on. Who discipline themselves to seek you. I thank you for it, God, and I believe in 30 days we're going to have some crazy powerful women of God rising up in here, slashing and slaying everything that's tried to come against their life up until this point. And they going to turn around and slay, see dead things just slashed out of their life in their trail. And they're going forward, happy, joyous in victory with the abundant life of God. In Jesus name, everybody shout Amen. So be it. Amen. Amen. I love you.
