Ron + Hope: Unfiltered - I Have Sinful Desires

Ron and Hope Carpenter discuss how Christians can overcome sinful desires through renewing the mind with Scripture. They explain the internal conflict described in Romans 7, emphasize daily devotions and prayer, and use the principle of replacement to build new thought patterns instead of old ones.

Hello, it's Ron and Hope. Unfiltered. Ron's drinking his water. Real raw, relevant.
So thirsty.
Why are you so thirsty today, babe?
On the way over here, I haven't replenished myself.
Oh, well, I didn't work out and I'm thirsty.
I'm scared of this topic.
Why? It's a great.
Send people to Hell, baby. Why you want to do that? What hopes? Holiness. Hopes come out of holiness. And she wants to send people.
I do not.
You need to be full of grace and mercy.
I want to help people figure out what they're doing and why they're doing that.
So why did you name this Desires that Send People to Hell?
Did not. You said that we were talking about the title and you were like, let's just call it Desires that Send People to Hell.
No, that was your idea. I'm like, why you want to send people to Hell, baby? No, I'm trying to get them saved and keep them out of hell.
My title was all these Sinful Desires. And then you said, no, just call it Desires. I said, if we just call it Desires, nobody will know what we're talking about.
We'll define it after they get on here.
Ron, here we are. We're already here.
There's all kinds of desires, right?
But these are the sinful ones.
And for.
Well, we're talking about the sinful ones.
Really Sinful.
Managing this flesh.
It's. For every desire, God has given a boundary, okay? And it's got to be set within that boundary. Outside of that boundary is sin. So that's a good way to start this thing. But anyway, are we going deep? Are we going like.
Who knows?
Because I've been.
Who knows? Ron, we got to give them this information because it's life changing.
You're talking about like Romans 7. Like what? Yeah, Sunday.
Yes, that's what I'm talking about. It's life changing. You were preaching that message and Iceland. And I said this right here.
Jasmine, who are you talking to?
During church, she's my assistant. And I looked at her and said, if every new believer got this message, it would save them so much heartache. Everybody who's never heard it needs to get it. But it is so powerful. The body, soul, spirit.
And what you do, that right here.
What you sow into is what lives, what you feed lives.
Props up on stage and everything. I can't do all that. But that's what makes it click.
Jazlyn and I were talking a couple of weeks ago.
Jaslyn watches from in the car on her phone. You weren't talking, Jaslyn. Yes, she does. I call her. I Church.
This was not in church. This was in my office. And we were talking about this very subject. And I said to her, she said, why are so many people in church not overcoming? And I said, jaslyn, it's simple. I said, you cannot live on one meal a week. You cannot live. And that's. The people who come to church get one meal, but the other six days and the rest of their life is sowing to the flesh, listening whatever they want, doing whatever they want, going wherever they want and not putting in the good stuff, not putting in the spiritual things, not sowing into the spirit.
Now, there's some folk that may be watching this, that don't come to our church and ain't churchy people. And they're sitting there leading you, like, what is she talking about? Sow into your spirit? What are you even talking about?
Feeding your spirit.
Let me tell you what I want to do. Let's take the next few minutes and let's come at this from a standpoint of somebody that hasn't been in church 20 years.
Okay?
Let's see what we can do with it.
But they get saved. Okay, they get saved. Don't know anything about Christianity. Living a victorious, overcoming life. How do they do it?
There's no way that I can talk to you about overcoming. There are desires that you have in your flesh back way up. The Bible says Satan is not God's enemy. We got to get that out of our head. And preachers, we're the worst. The devil and the devil, and we're going to bind the devil and we're going to cast the devil out of here and we're going to run him out of town. Jesus has thoroughly and completely beaten Satan. Beating.
There's your word.
Beaten Satan. And not only has he beaten him, the Colossians says, and made a public spectacle of him. Mocked him.
Yeah.
Mocked him in doing it. Yeah. It was a mockery of how badly he beat him. Because the thing the enemy tried to do, which was kill Jesus, was the thing that Jesus used to destroy the enemy. It's a full mockery. And that's why the Bible says if they had known the rulers of this age, no, they'd have never.
They'd have never done it.
They would have never crucified the Lord of glory. But because what they did is they took Jesus and multiplied him into me and you. And so, long story short, you got to understand, the Bible talks about the Carnal mind is the enemy of God. What is a carnal mind? A carnal mind that is always subject to whatever the body wants to do. Yeah.
Whatever you feel at that moment, I'm.
Going to do it for you.
I want French fries. I'm going to get it. I want to go to the club.
A big word today is narcissism. Do you know what that is? That's a person consumed by their flesh. That's a person who's selfish. That's a person who lives for the moment. That's a person who doesn't care about what happens to others. That's a person that really has no ability to empathize with anybody else. And whatever it is I want, whatever it is I want to do, I will do it right here at this moment. So you might not understand what I'm talking about. So into the flesh and so. But you understand narcissism. These are people, you know, it's been for a long time, one of these kind of philosophies or proverbs. If it feels good, do it. That has ruined more lives.
Yeah, that's true.
Than maybe anything I've ever heard of. Because the Bible says in my flesh that nothing good dwells. No, there is nothing. If I can't let this body take charge and good come out of it, it's going to be painful, it's going to be emptying, it's going to be depleting, it's going to fragment me. It's going to always leave me hurt. When your flesh drives the decision making faculties of your life, it's never going anywhere.
The flesh doesn't ever make good decisions.
So when you get saved. This revelation changed my life. Now I'm going down this road. Are you ready for me? Interject wherever you want to. When you get saved, you've got to understand, you get saved in three dimensions. You get saved spiritually. The Bible says when we get saved, we're born of water and the spirit. That's why we baptize people.
Here's spirit. Here's spirit.
Here spirit. Wait a minute. Excuse me. His soul. Here's spirit and his body.
Okay, okay, So I can see it.
Can we see that? Pretty good. Okay, let me get this out of the way. Good job there. Yeah. I use people Sunday and spirit. Hope is wanting to do this because hope came back in the green room after that and she said everybody in the world needs to hear that. Like, right. The Sunday after they get saved.
Yeah.
So I come up and get saved and my spirit is completely born again, perfected. You can increase upon it. That spirit that died when Adam disobeyed is now made alive unto God. And there is nothing I can do to make it any better and put it in any better position. I have been made righteous and perfected before God. Okay? My mind has not been touched.
That's the soul. The mind is soul.
The mind, will, emotions, experience, intellect, it's all housed right here in the soul. My soulish man, my mind has not been touched.
When this experience happens, it hasn't been changed.
So you got to understand this is an immediate salvation. This is a progressive salvation. He's not saved.
What is this?
That's your body, your flesh. The Bible calls it carnal. The Bible calls it fleshly. The Bible calls it the body. They're all interchangeable. It basically means the house that I live in, this is not me. This is the house that houses me. And so in my body, the Bible says in Romans 7 that what I will to do, I do not do. But that which I hate, I do. So you got to understand these guys. That's the conflict signals. The flesh has desires. That's what she's talking about, desires. The spirit has desires. The mind is the decision maker. He gets to make the decision. We're going this way or we're going this way. Now, before you got saved, it was just this guy. And this guy, he sent the desire and he said, yes, let's go.
What guy? And what guy?
If they can't see that body and that spirit, I'm going to have to.
Say body and soul.
The soul is in the middle, the mind is in the middle. The desires are coming from both sides. But this is so. So when flesh and soul get together, the Bible says if any two agree on the earth, that it's done. So when this guy sends the signal, says, ah, looks across the bar and says, I won't hurt. When he sends that signal, he says, all right, let's go. They have been walking together so long that now when you walk in a church and you're 33 years old and you get saved, all of a sudden, he is made alive. Your spirit man. And the Bible says, in my inner man, I delight in the law of God.
Yeah, I want to do right.
So now all of a sudden, you had two enjoying themselves, but now three is a crowd.
You preaching and screaming right now, somebody.
Else has just moved into the apartment.
You're screaming.
So these two right here have been together. These two. This guy right here wants to break.
So let me Ask you this. So it's kind of like the cartoon where you see somebody sitting there and you got the angel on one shoulder and you got the demon on the.
Other, very much like that.
And you're like, they're fighting. You're like, oh, I want to do this.
But no, the person who made up that cartoon knew what they were experiencing but didn't know why.
Right. They didn't know what scripture somebody writing that.
Somebody doing that animation was living that out. And the Bible, actually, I'm getting ahead of myself. And the end of chapter seven says, oh, wretched man that I am who will deliver me? In other words, I'm caught in the middle. The Bible says that I've been saved. Romans 5, 6, 7. Listen to what he says. He said, but I find another law. That word law means a compelling desire that causes you to draw wrong conclusions.
Says I find another law, a compelling desire in my member.
Right in my body.
In my body.
Waging war against my mind, bringing me into captivity.
Yep.
Old wretched man, captive Christians, Nobody wants to talk about that. They think if you are a Christian, you're free. Christians are some of the most bound people I've ever seen in my life because they've had this experience and they go to concerts and they buy Christian T shirts and they do all. They go to all of the events, they go to all of the conferences. But there is no daily renewal because this guy right here is saved immediately. But this guy right here is renewed day by day.
The mind, the mind, the washing. What is it?
Saint thy God. Through the washing of the water. By the word of God.
By the word of God.
By the Word of God. So the word of God is mind water?
Yes.
Water has purification incident. So the word of God is mind water. So Jesus the man. John, chapter one. In the beginning was the word and the Word was God. The word, written word and Jesus are the same. So Jesus the man, the Word, the man gets you ready for heaven. The written word gets you ready for.
Earth, teaches you how to live.
Right.
So do y' all realize that every time Ron's teaching a principle, I'll come back and kind of sum it up in, like, everyday language?
Actually, I'm the one tries to put hard stuff into everyday language.
Well, I'll come back and whatever you think teaches you how to live.
So I've got something going on in my body that is sending signals to my mind. Okay. Causing me to draw wrong conclusions, which ultimately bring me in captivity. That's powerful. Yeah, it is amazing. This stuff was written 2,000 years ago. And it can land right in your life. Right in your life.
And everybody, I mean everybody who hears us right now says, yes, I felt that. I know that. I know that war. I know that struggle of wanting to do right.
So who's ever done something? And then after you got through, you're like, why did I do that? I don't even like it. Why did I do that?
I didn't want to do it.
I didn't want to do that. Can I just. Can I just be very real? I mean, you ended up going home with the same type person because you spent the same type night doing the same type thing in the same type place. And then you woke up next morning and you look at him and go, ugh. Yeah. And. But you did it. But you didn't want to do it, but you couldn't stop.
But it's because it's the things that we used to do before salvation. Right?
Right.
So that's exactly what you were saying. Once we get saved, nothing else has changed in our. In our mind, in our body. We can still do, think, act the same way. The only thing that changed its salvation is our spirit. Man came alive. But then the work happens.
We refer. Do we need to go to a commercial? Let's do a commercial.
Well, this is so good. So good. I know they're loving it, but.
Oh, this is my favorite.

Where was I?
Come on. Talking about this. Once you get saved, nothing changes, okay? Except your spirit, man.
Let me go back to where me and Hope were raised. Holiness folk, I love you. A lot of you are our family. A lot of you are supporters.
You said I was Holiness.
Everything. I was raised in holiness. Hope was raised in holiness. Let me tell you, in that day, I'm sure things have changed. But in that day, they did try to what I call save the flesh. Yes, they tried to save the flesh with the no makeup and the no haircut.
Yes, but you wear much jewelry, don't.
Adorn yourself and the men, you know, cuffs, right size. And I remember early in 1900s, men wouldn't wear ties then after that, they wouldn't be caught dead without a tie. I remember my dad used to go swimming in long pants and cut grass in a suit.
I mean, so ridiculous.
I mean, all the rules that they had to try to save the flesh. Let me just go ahead and settle this. The flesh is not. Not is not. The flesh ain't saved. The flesh ain't saved. Your flesh can do everything right now that it could do before you met Jesus.
Right?
And you can turn your flesh loose and you can destroy your life before you go to bed tonight. You don't need a devil, you don't need a demon. Just turn your flesh loose. Do you understand what I'm saying? So flesh is not saved. The Bible says when we get to heaven, we will put on. We will get a glorified body. So spirit is saved. He is being renewed and being saved. But this right here is not going to get saved until I see Jesus. So what I have to do, I have to manage it. Flesh management, I have to manage it. I have to control it. I have to subdue it.
But I will say personally, and we've talked about this, you and I have, many times. There does come a time, and we'll talk about this now. To where your want to does disappear. And how does that happen?
I ain't got there yet. That's chapter eight.
Chapter eight.
All right. So I do things I don't want to do. And so when we're not free, it brings on what I call hypocrisy. I don't think hope anybody, unless somebody's demented. I don't think people want to be a hypocrite. I don't think that's something people aspire to. No, hypocrite is when you don't conduct yourself and behave in a way that you say you believe. So basically, there's a great disparity in what you say you are and what you really are. And that leads to hypocrisy. So when we have old desires that still capitalize us, but we are born again legitimately, then it makes you go into what I call hiding and hypocrisy, which means because you got to show.
Everybody that you're perfect.
You walk in church and I'm blessed and highly favored, and you learn for 90 minutes how to act in church and how to blend in, knowing that when you go back home, that thing still got you, that perversion still got you, that pornography still got you, that kind of woman still got you dating those same kind of people still got you, that addiction still got you. And so. And you hate what you do, but you don't know how to get free. Have I got your attention? Let's go further. Can I go deeper, Baby Doe?
Absolutely.
All right. Paul says at the end of chapter seven, he says, oh, wretched man. He said, I'm caught between this guy.
And between this guy, the angel and the demon.
He says, you know, in my inner man, I delight in God. He said, but, man, when I get in certain environments and I get around certain people, my flesh goes nuts. That's another message. There are some environments that stimulate him. There's some environments that stimulate him, the flesh. There's some people that stimulate him. There's some people that stimulate him. And you are in charge of which environment you put yourself in. Okay? You've got to know that about yourself. And it's amazing to me how many people dance around fire but get surprised when they get burned. I mean, I'm like, what did you think? What did you think was going to happen? Yeah. What? Well, I was over there at her apartment till 4 o' clock in the.
Morning and I hate it. We just had sex. I didn't want to. Well, why were you there before in the morning?
I don't know how it happened. Well, number one, being there at 4:00 clock in the morning probably had a lot to do with it. I mean, come on, guys, let's be real. Some of this ain't spiritual, right? So this is very, very practical. You make no provision for the flesh. Flesh, what does that mean? You close the door to opportunity. Because the Bible says flesh will seize every opportunity afforded it. If you open the door wide open to this guy, he seizes it. And so now the Bible says that when you're tempted, let no one say God is tempting me. James, chapter one, he said, but when someone is tempted, he's dragged away by his own desires. You see what I'm talking about? So we're talking about desires. Okay, Pastor, you got my attention. Okay, you've told me how bad I am. So what I do. Okay, the Bible says now, chapter, chapter eight, verse one, thanks be to God that there's no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. And what did I say Sunday? I screamed it. Yeah. Not a period. I have heard that quoted my whole life as one phrase with a period.
There's no condemnation. Why do you feel bad?
There's no reason to feel bad. There's no condemnation for those that are in Christ, you know, Right, comma, who do not sow after the flesh, but sow after the Spirit. So there's a lot of condemnation. There is if you've been saved. But you still got him in the driver's seat. Tons of them.
Yeah, yeah, tons of them. That's why you feel bad. That is condemnation. Because you feel bad.
The shame, the guilt.
Sin separates you from God. That's why you feel ashamed or embarrassed.
He feels that. Yeah, he grieved him. He's grieved it. So a lot of people think grieving the Holy Spirit is sin, but grieving the Holy Spirit is basically any direction you take, letting him be in charge where he knows that's not God and he'll start turning on the inside of you because you're more than this. You're better than this. Than this. Don't go there, go here. And then he goes on. For what I think is what I called Sunday. I think I called it the hinge, the hook with which the whole teaching basically hangs on. He said, for those. Let me make sure I quote it right. For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set what the flesh desires. Those who live according to the spirit have their minds set on what the spirit desires. And I go back and do a play on words. Freedom is a mindset.
It is.
Freedom is a mindset because you're going.
To go after what you want, period. If I tell you that I want French fries, I'm going to get in my car, I'm going to do what it takes, and I'm going to go to McDonald's and get my presentation right.
When I buy you push ups.
Yes, When I say I want push ups.
From the time we were dating, she would get in the car at night and we'd be on the college campus, I want a push up. And I'd have to go drive down to this other town where there was a gas station and get her push up.
But see the proof. But it's proving the point. The proof of desire is what? Pursuit. The proof of desire. If you really, really, really, really, really want to serve Jesus, you'll pursue it. You'll pursue him. But if you really, really, really want to do bad, you're going to do bad.
You're going to do it. So.
It'S not, oops, I did it again. No, it's not. The devil made me do it. I chose to do it.
Bottom line, this guy flesh has controlled the mind so long that now the mind has. What I'm going to be talking about this Sunday. Strongholds. Strongholds are structures that protect doors. Let the devil in. Strongholds protect him. So there are doors that you open that give entrance to evil, but the way you think builds a fortress around it.
Yeah. And if you've done it long enough, I mean, biology will even tell you, neurology will tell you you've set up patterns in your brain of ways of thinking that it's become normal to you. So it's going to take some retraining, relearning, restudying, a discipline of, no, I can't go there Friday night. No, I shouldn't be doing this. And it feels awkward at first because it's painful. Been so normal in your life.
You remember years ago I did. Where the Bible says, put on The Lord Jesus and I put. Because it does feel like a put on at first.
At first it doesn't feel normal.
I remember the first time I raised my hand in church service. I felt ridiculous. Yeah, I did. I. I felt. I didn't feel presence. I felt ridiculous.
Felt like.
I felt like this ain't real. I felt like this ain't real. Yeah. Like if my friends in high school saw this, they'd be making fun of me. And m. I'm. But it is. You put on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Because at the beginning, you put him on and you have to wear him and anything that you buy first, it doesn't feel normal. You have to get it broke in. It kind of feels strange. But it's the same way with our walk with the Lord. It's learning a new way.
Right. So it's setting your mind on the flesh or setting your mind on the spirit. You know, there's so many, like, people love to talk about the demonic now. Demons have to be cast out. Strongholds have to be cast out, torn down.
Yeah.
Demons are immediate in the name of Jesus. Strongholds are a process of renewal by the word of God. And that word process is what just. I lost about half my audience right there. Everybody will sense we like the demon thing. Get out, get out in the name of Jesus. Get out. You don't point at a stronghold and say, get out, get out in the name of Jesus. It's a time of uprooting and it's a time of planning, renewing your mind, baby. Is the principle of replacement.
That's so good.
The principle of replacement. I've got to pull down the lie in my head.
So for an example, talk about. Just use pornography for an example. The principle of replacement. The lie that this is normal, this is the way sex is supposed to be.
And I'm single and I'm older, and it's justified. And God understands.
Okay, so that's a lie. So then you got to replace that.
Builds a structure in your mind. You don't cast that out. You don't cast that out. The Bible says in Proverbs, I will set no evil thing before my eyes. The Bible also says in First Peter have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness. So what is it? I'm taking the truth, and the truth is confronting the lie. And eventually the lie is pulled down and a new thought structure is set up in my head.
What does God say about sex?
What does God say?
What does God say about marriage? What does God say about Sanctity what does God say about holiness?
Right. All those things are a part of renewing your mind. I'm going to end out somewhere. Very, very practical.

When you build your credit, you save money.
They hold your hand.
You save money. Yep. When you build your credit because you save interest and get lower interest rates. So everybody, everybody needs to do that. So anyway, and we're going to have to. I'm going to have to start finding a place to start landing this because there's so much. There's so much. And we've already been over a half hour talking about it, trying to figure out what I want, the most powerful things I can do to tie it all together.
Let me ask you a question. They're sitting here before you, Pastor. Yes. You've been talking about me. What's the first thing I can do? What do I do to build up my spirit? Man versus sowing into my flesh. I've been sowing into my flesh all these years and my flesh has been kicking my butt. But I want my spirit to win.
The Bible says those who sow, who sow, those who live according to the flesh have their mind set. I need to say this. You gotta understand. When Adam sinned, the Bible says we all died in the first Adam. We all died in the second Adam. We can all live.
Jesus, who's the second? Okay.
Jesus is the second or the last Adam. And so the Bible says that of the day you eat of this fruit, you shall surely die. Well, if you noticed Adam keep reading Genesis, he kept right on living. So what happened? Spiritually, he died. And his mind was infused with the knowledge of that tree. So the Bible said, set your mind. The word set is a medical term, like setting of a bone. So God knows our mind is broken. God knows the information by which we live and the lies we've believed. He knows it's broken. And as a man thinketh, so is he. So I've always said, if you think lies, you live lies. And so there's a principle of replacement that has to take place. So the Bible says that the carnal mind is the enemy of God. It is not subject to God, nor can it be. You're not fighting Satan. God's not fighting Satan. God's fighting your mind. So anywhere God says something and you believe a lie, you have a fortress in your mind that resists God. So the Bible says we pull down strongholds which are arguments, high things and knowledge that exalts himself against. Against. So anything in your mind, if I say, God's going to bless you. I can't wait to see you next week. And like, ain't no blessing.
He's not talking to me. He don't know my situation.
Okay, you automatically have a fortress in your mind and it's based on facts. But I just gave you truth. I didn't say that your situation or what you believe is not factual.
Right?
But truth.
But what does God say, truth is.
Of greater authority than facts. And so I just gave you truth out of the word of God, but your facts are resisting it. Okay? So that mindset has to be pulled down. And the Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 10 that you will be ready to punish every act of disobedience once your obedience is complete.
Whoo.
So in other words, once you begin to get a handle on the word of God and the promises of God for your life, when any thought enters your head that is opposite of it.
You'Re like, wait a minute.
It can be handled immediately. That didn't come from God.
Yeah.
So when you get the origin of an idea and you understand that did not originate with God, you have the ability to bring it captive and make it subject to Jesus Christ.
So bottom line, the word of God.
This is where I wanted to end up. Let me take these last two minutes. Hope I can't underscore or overstate a personal devotional life.
Yeah. And so many people have. I mean, young people, people we know have asked us, is it really that important?
Let me tell you, I.
It's life.
I'm a daddy. I'm a. I'm a granddaddy. I'm. I'm not old, but I'm old enough to see. I'm concerned. There is Christian excitement. There is Christian music. There's Christian merch. There's Christian everything.
Tours, concerts.
But the first thing I was taught was not what is cool in the Christian world.
It was spiritual disciplines.
It was prayer and the word. Seeking God.
Yeah.
We were taught to seek God. We had a curfew at our Christian college. And the only way you could stay past curfew, as if you were in the altars seeking God, they were. Lean in on that. Other words you were in. We would do that and then go back to our dorms and seek God.
Devotions. Yeah. In the hall.
And we would have chapel and other stuff four or five times a week, and then go back to our dorm, wake up in the mornings, and have devotions. And so I was immediately thrust into an arena where we were taught to be God chasers. We chase God. That's not happening anymore.
I don't see it.
That's not happening anymore. It's not happening anymore because the Bible says a student becomes like his teacher. It's not a core value of those that are teaching, so it's not a core value of those that are listening. Your personal devotional life, what have held us in our darkest times, Hope was not a concert or Church service or a worship ep?
No, it was what we knew in here.
It was when times got rough, we knew where to go. We would bury ourself in his presence, and we would bury ourself in His Word. I remember a decade ago, when you and I were separated, I remember Night's Hope where I would open the Bible, put my Bible on my pillow, and lay my head in my open Bible.
Because we knew the power of that.
That's how much I was trying to draw on the Word. That's how desperate I was. The Bible says, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock. And one thing, one of the highest compliments you ever gave me is one time in 2008 when I was being sued, when I, the FBI and everything, everybody was trying to find me and they couldn't. Finally, you opened doors of sanctuary, and I was on my knees and they're praying. And I heard you tell me one of my staff members, you say, there's something about Ron. He always knows where to go. And I do. I do. And I go there. And through the ups and downs of life, out of all the stupid stuff I've done, which we've told everybody, one thing I did right is I never lost my personal devotion life. Personal devotion is your worship and your prayer and your daily time in the Word of God.
And, well, there's a scripture that says, I will hide God's word in my heart that I might not sin. Period. Bottom line, I will hide God's Word in my heart. And that's what we're talking about. We're talking about captive Christians. We're talking about Christians who have a proclivity. We have. Talking about Christians who can't seem to get it right. Well, here's the answer. It says, I will hide God's Word in my heart so that I will not sin, so that I will be an overcomer, so that I will live a victorious life. You have to know the Word of God. You cannot activate a word you don't know. You can't live off of a word you don't know.
And when I look on Instagram and see the things that the younger generations support and believe on, and I say to myself, and they put up top, you know, they're a Christian and they put on Instagram, post pictures of them at their church, but I see everything else they support, and I'm like, have they ever read the Word? They don't even know where they stand on things and where God stands. And so I, you know, you say, pastor you took me through all that psychological biblical stuff to pull me back to reading and praying.
Yes.
Yep.
Sure did.
Yep. And if you have that, you will break this stuff.
Yeah, you will.
If you don't have that, this one thing I can. What I can't promise you is how long it will take to break it.
Right.
But what I can promise you is if you don't have it, you'll never break it.
It depends on how many strongholds have been built up. How long has that truth that is opposite of God's word been leading you and guiding you? It depends how long and how strong.
So it's a mindset.
It is.
If I set my mind on what he wants, that's the direction I'm going to go. If I set my direction on my spirit and what it wants, that's the direction I'm going to go. And the fact is, the choice will always be yours. It will always be yours. But this is a process of renewal. And you will see things start letting you go because you're starving him. Starving him and feeding him. Whoo. Amen. I'm going to stop.

This will, when you make a big deal about it, it puts us on other people's homes, phones and on other people's computers who have not actively sought us, and at least we've got a shot.
Yeah.
So, you know, it's not just about making a number bigger. So people look at it and go, wow. It's about putting it on phones and on computers that normally would not go in there and want to listen to Ronnie Carpenter.
