Ron + Hope: Unfiltered - Is "Discipline" Important?

Ron and Hope Carpenter debate whether discipline matters, with Ron favoring structure and Hope preferring freedom. They define discipline as the awareness of a need and ability to act on it, and argue that vision and accountability create the boundaries that produce real results.
Chapters
I did it wrong last time. So you do it.
What?
Our show.
He tickles me. It's Ron and Hope. Unfiltered.
And I'm the introvert.
Yes. And I'm the extrovert. We learned this in episode one. Right. If you didn't hear it, go back and watch it. So welcome. We are so glad that you're here today. And what are we going to talk about today?
Second one. I'm excited about the first one. They can go back and watch it. Yeah. Anytime they want to. Episode one, where we just kind of let you get insight on us. And then it kind of led into a little bit of a relationship, a little bit of dating type thing, a little bit of what you look for in another person. And. And these are unscripted. I do have some things I've typed in my notes, but they're unscripted. They don't have a plan. We kind of come in with somewhere of a topic we want to discuss, but what's going to come out in the next few minutes? We have no idea.
Only God knows.
Yeah. Only the Holy Ghost knows that. So, anyway, we bless you. I thank you for being here. I'm here with my gorgeous, beautiful, the love of my life. I'm here with Hope. And we get to do a lot together. This is the first time we've done this.
It's fun.
First time we've done this. And we are enjoying it. We got a lot of topics we're going to discuss. We're not going all the way in right now, but we're going to share triumphs, we're going to share battles, we're going to share what we did in the triumph. Share what we did in the battle. Worst days of our life. Greatest days of our life. Being parents and being married and growing. Sometimes even the ordeals of pastoring and all that that goes through. We're going to talk about all these things. Money management. But today I think me and you taught mostly that we just wanted to hit the subject of discipline.
Yes. Because here we are.
Don't. Don't turn it off. Don't.
Yeah. Here we are in January anyway.
Yeah.
You know, what do you do in January? We always reevaluate and say, man, what can I do different this year? I got to lose £15. I got to lose £10. I promise. I'm going to the gym.
I need to start reading at least a book a month and I need to let you know. And I want to have 30 great, great plans. Nothing wrong with all that. Where There is no vision. People perish. Write the vision down. Make it plain. I could preach both of them. This ain't a preaching time. But the fact is, you can have vision running out your ears, but if you don't have discipline, you have to do it. If you don't have discipline, it won't ever happen. Once you tell them a little bit the own aspects about your own personality. And I'll have to talk one day about how I evolved and became more free and less rigid. I think you could speak to discipline in some people. It is a personality profile. There are some people that are genetically wired from birth to be very disciplined people. It is not a skill set. It's a personality type. Okay, there are other people. I do have some of that. I do have some of that.
Then there are other people.
Even before I met Jesus, you know, I had some of that. Then there are other people. And I think you would put you in this category. It has to be highly intentional.
Absolutely.
Because that does not come natural to you. And I told them last week, I said, when I met you, you are a free spirit. And I got to be honest with you, that was a very attractive characteristic. Yeah. Quality to me. Because my life was not full of that.
Right.
My life was full of planned and my life was full of structure and full of rigidity. Nothing wrong with that. All successful people have to have it. But it was not full of life. And you brought this man, this effervescence, this life to me that I couldn't get enough of you.
Yeah, you needed it.
I couldn't get enough of you.
And I needed exactly what you brought.
But from the get go, those two things clashed. Remember the little talk we had to go have at McDonald's one day? I'm like, baby, help me out. I'm not used to this. And you had to tell me about you. I had to tell you about me. Talk about the intentionality of discipline. Share a little bit maybe about your struggle with it, how it runs against the grain of your personality type. And if somebody says, man, you sound just like me. I sound just like that, then what would you tell them to do?
Well, first I got to tell a funny little story. We were on a leadership retreat a few weeks ago, and I'm not going to name who it was, but somebody was telling us. They were sitting, talking and asking us questions.
And.
And this particular girl said, I just. Now, granted, she's not married, she has no home. She's not married, she has no home to take care of. Still lives, you Know, with her family.
She'S precious and precious.
She was asking me, should she get a personal assistant? And I was stunned at first. I said, for what? To assist.
They don't. They don't.
Doing what they're not.
Over anything. They don't.
And she said, it's just my laundry. I just get so overwhelmed, and I just. It just piles up and piles up, and I just sit there and just squall and bawl.
The word was actually sob.
Yeah.
I look at my laundry and I saw.
Because it's a lot of it. And I said, you know how to fix that? You wash it. You actually pick it up.
You don't hire. You wash the washing machine and you.
Take it out, put it in the dryer, and you take it out, fold it and put it away. That's how you stop sobbing now that you said that.
Easy. But to the person sitting there crying.
And she literally was looking at me going, that.
But that shows you. That shows you how she's wired now, this person. We know this person. And we have a great affection for lovers. Probably one of the most amazing gifts that we have ever met. But acknowledging.
But she's artsy.
And mine. And hopes. Right. Yeah. That she's artsy.
She's creative.
And structure is really not in her life.
But something that simple, Ron. Something that simple as washing your clothes. Can you imagine what her life's going to be like five years down the road if she doesn't get a hold of this concept?
Pardon me.
Right now. Right now.
So what did you do?
I did it. I remember it didn't really hit me as far as cooking, cleaning, that kind of stuff, because I had to do that growing up all the time anyway. That was just a part of my life. But I remember when it really hit me is when we had children.
God, you're pretty. Go ahead.
It's when we had children and when our first. Who never slept and always, you know, it was awful. They can't feed their self. They can't change their own diaper. And I remember, like, several months into this thinking, I will never get to sleep in as long as I live. As long as these children are in my house, this is over. My life is over. And it hit me like a ton of bricks. And I thought every day of my life, I got to get up and feed these people.
Our first child rocked.
And then I got to clean it, and then they're going to get hungry again. And I. It was so. It was like a mental switch for me. Literally, it was a Mental switch that I had to flip that. Okay, this is your role now and this is what you do.
Was it a little bit. Can I just say the word? Okay. I got to get my crap together. Yeah, it was because life didn't hand you.
It was crucifixion of me.
Yeah. Because life didn't hand you an option. First of all, you have no option. You had a child, right? You had a. We had a very rough experience with our first child. He never slept. When I tell you never slept, I don't mean he didn't sleep well. I don't mean he didn't sleep much. I mean the kid didn't sleep. And we were operating in such sleep deprivation that we thought was going to lose our minds. And it's just.
It's a choice. It's a determination you make. Everything in life is choice. You know, everything we do is choice. What I choose on the menu tonight is my choice. You know, what I choose to do with my time is my choice. Everything is choice driven. So it was a choice that I had to make that. Okay, every day I am going to get up at this time every day I'm going to do X, Y and Z. Every day I'm going to wash two loads of laundry and I'm going to fold them. I'm not going to let them stay on the couch and pile up. I'm going to fold them and put them up right then it's a choice.
I would say to the person who says discipline does not come naturally with me. Let me define discipline. Discipline is the awareness of a need and the ability to take action.
It's good.
Discipline is the awareness of a need. Now, let me tell. Let me back. Let me just hit that first part. Hope some people are clueless. The first part of discipline is there's a need. I got to get these clothes washed. I'm not talking about running a Fortune 500 company. We'll talk about some of that stuff that we do in the bigger side of our world. Leader. I'm talking about making life work. I've got to wash these clothes. There's got to be some type of provision made for my children to eat. There's got to be something, somebody that's cleaning this house, somebody's got to wash dishes. Somebody's got to get up in time to feed the kids and get them to school. There's these structures that have to come into our life. And here's something that I hope I get. Is it all right for me to insert Bible stuff? Because I'm not a counselor. I'm not a motivational speaker. I'm a Bible guy. In Ezekiel 47, Hope, we have this picture of the river flowing out of the throne of God. We call it the love of God, the life of God. Some people call it the Holy Spirit run out of the throne. And it said that the banks on this river grew trees. And these trees healed everything, it said. But where there were swamps, there was no life. A life that is a swamp is a life without definition and no boundaries. So if you go to a swamp and look at a river, you will see life in the river. You will see banks on the river. I'm sorry.
He's always yelling.
Sorry. I'm sorry. I'm over my head. Cold. Now it's just my preacher in me. Okay, you help me with that. You be my partner.
Okay. Let's take a breath. Okay.
Okay. Now, see, I forgot what I was going to say. Boundaries. You go to a river, there's life in the river. But when you go to a swamp, you. I've been to some. You don't even want to touch the water. You don't want to get in it. It stinks. It smells. It has a stench. And there may not be the total absence of life, but there's not anything.
Sickness.
Yeah. In a river, disease. So the difference between the two is one has banks and one does not.
Right.
This water is held in this can because this can provides a boundary. But if I take this and pour it out on this table, it's just going to run everywhere. So the awareness of a need. Are you aware of your surroundings? Okay. Are you aware that your kids are struggling in school? Are you even aware, like I said, some people are clueless. Are you aware you and your wife, you and your husband never have meaningful time or meaningful conversation? Are you aware that y' all may have not kissed each other in three weeks?
You're aware that you're on your phone more than you are talking to each other?
Yeah, the awareness. Discipline is awareness. I'm connected to my present. I'm not absent from it. I'm very connected to what's going on around me. And then the ability to take action. It didn't say you felt like it.
No, absolutely not.
It said the ability, you are able to do it even if you don't feel like it. If the only things you ever do in life are stuff you feel like doing, you will not accomplish much.
That's a very surface person.
Yeah. Because I will tell you this. I've told People over and over and over again. I wouldn't trade lives with anybody. I'm so grateful. It's been difficult as I'll get out, but I wouldn't trade it with anybody. But much of my life is spent. I've spent doing things that I don't love to get to do, to do the thing that I love. And that's the discipline. It doesn't take great discipline on Sunday for me to preach. I love to preach, but, you know, I have a touch of add.
Just a touch.
Okay, be nice. I have a touch of add. You get me on Tuesday. Tuesday is our meeting day where we have to have literally a succession of about 7, 8 hours of meetings for all the dominoes to start fall for the creative meeting, for the planning meeting, for the social media, for the tv, for all the admin going through the accounting department, all this stuff. You have these meetings, then all the dominoes fall the rest of the week. I find myself hope in those meetings. I'm doing everything I can to stay in the present, to pull myself back. My mind starts to stay in the present. That is not something I enjoy Tuesday, but Tuesday I have to do it. When I do Tuesday, I get to do Sunday, and I love Sunday. And we got too many people that refuse to do anything they don't like. That's where it doesn't take discipline if you love it.
That's immaturity, honestly.
Yeah. It doesn't take discipline if you love it.
I want to eat what I want to eat right, Don't I?
You love fried food.
I do. I love French fries. I love fried fries.
God, I jump on her all the time.
I love fried shrimp. I like savory things. I could eat a whole bag of potato chips. Sweets are not my thing, but savory stuff is. And I have to. I do not. So I have to make myself not order that. It's like, I don't want to order salad. I want to order the side of French fries. Right? And when you're sitting beside me, looking at me all cockeyed like, you better.
Not order that because I want you to be around with me a while.
That's right. He helps me to be disciplined.
And we could go to that later. Because there are things that help each other be disciplined. Let me go back to the definition. It's the awareness that there's a need, the ability to do something about it. The difference between the awareness and you initiating an action is called procrastination.
Oh.
The distance between. I know this need is here. The laundry is here and it keeps.
Piling up because I'm procrastinating and you.
Doing something about the laundry. The space in between is called procrastination. God is a rewarder of the diligent, not the procrastinator. So the key is not just knowing there's a need. Some people are clueless. Okay, now that you're aware there's a need, what actions are you putting into place to do something about it? Hope. We were flying home the other day and you sleep easily on the plane. I don't. So I took out my iPad and I literally. This is actually back at the end of the year, I literally took about three hours and restructured the way I do my day on a daily basis for the upcoming year, so I can be better. And can I tell you something? 80% of it, of the stuff that I was doing was like vinegar in my jaw. I didn't even like writing it down, much less doing it. But there are other things that I love, and the 80% is necessary. It's just straight up discipline. And the longer I procrastinate, the more I remove myself from the impact God wants me to have. That's right, because we got to be disciplined. Anything else you want to add to that? Because I got another scripture floating around in my mind.
Say it.
Where there is no vision, people perish. People perish.
Cast off for strength.
A lot of people say, where there is no ongoing revelation, where there's no picture of a tomorrow, people perish. That don't mean they fall over and die. That word perish. You just said it. They cast off restraint and run wild. Run wild. Swamp.
Yeah.
Their life becomes a swampland.
Ugh. Nobody wants that.
That's a full life. Yeah, those.
But do you want the reward of the discipline more than you want the immediate gratification of sitting on the couch and scrolling on your phone or laying in the bed and not washing the clothes. What do you want more?
You know, and that reminds me of the. You know, the Instagram that's floating around. Don't. I'm not plagiarizing. I don't know where this originated. I don't know who started it, because I've seen it quoted by about three different people. But the Instagram thing. I said choose your hard said eating right is hard. Being sick is hard. It's hard.
Losing weight.
Losing weight is hard. Being fat is hard. You see what I'm talking about? Working out is hard. Your body degenerating early is hard. So it said just choose your heart. You have to choose your heart. And the fact is, the discipline life is not easy. It's intentional. Why did we call them the 12 disciples?
They were the discipline ones.
It wasn't. Jesus laid his hands on them and gave them his spirit like we like to do in church or an ordination service. That's not what he did. He brought these rascals, trained them around him. Peter. Peter was a mess.
Yeah, I think I'm in his lineage.
Peter was a mess.
He cut people's ears.
I mean, just saw Jesus walking on the water, took off his shirt, jumps out of a boat.
That would have been me.
Takes people's ears off.
That would have been me.
Sticking his foot in his mouth. That's me, that's Peter. Gives everybody hope.
Yes.
And then you got Matthew, who's a tax collector. People hated tax collectors because they were so deceitful. They were heathens. They stole, they deceived, they robbed their own people. Jesus took, you know, Motley Cruise. He didn't take these 12 guys who glowed in the dark. He took these rabble rousers and he disciplined them. The root word of disciple is discipline. He brought discipline into their life. Why? Because you cannot evangelize the known world without Twitter, Facebook or Instagram in that day, without being a disciplined person. And when Jesus ascends back to heaven, the spirit of God is going to be upon them to carry out the mission. So he's got three and a half years. He's got to make sure he's got three and a half years to put his message in good hands.
Right.
So he spent three and a half years disciplining them. He was always talking to them about how to treat each other. He taught them about the Beatitudes, the attitudes. He was always talking to them about what to let go of. He was always talking to them about how to stay connected to the vine. He always talked to them about character. He always talked to them about the. These people build their house on the sand. They hear and they don't do nothing. But these people, these doers of the word, they build theirs on the rock. He was constantly driving the pylons of discipline on the inside of them. Where there is no vision, people cast off restraint and run wild. The first way you could bring discipline into your life is see a tomorrow. I've told people before, sometime vision will deliver you.
Yeah, just getting a glimpse of what God wants for you.
I want you to pray for me and break, break this alcoholism. I want you to break this drug addiction. Break this perversion off me. People like that are living for the moment. But when you get a vision of what God can do and what God wants to do, all of a sudden these boundaries start coming into your life. Let me tell you what I told them at the retreat. Remember this? Am I talking too much?
No.
Because you done got me excited. Because I love this topic. I love this topic because I know it's not one people want to hear. It's not one they want to listen to. I was talking to our leadership at our 2022 planning calendar meeting back last year when I was talking to them about vision and restraint and boundaries. One of the things I told them is that the vision drives everything.
It does.
What did we do this morning? We were getting a vision for our finances.
That's right.
We sat there and drank coffee in our time together. And we love each other and we swap our pleasantries. But after that, I said, babe, if you would open up our account with the bank. And what did I start doing? In our marriage, Hope allows me, along with her insight, to be the visionary of our financial plan. Then she executes. She's the executionary part of it. And we have places we want to go, things we want to do, and we have to take action on doing it. Now, I can tell you about a hundred other things I would have rather have done right this morning than be financial planning right.
I would have rather had some grits and eggs and bacon and hash browns and a bun maybe.
And gravy poured over the biscuits and everything else.
I had two boiled eggs, glory to.
God, cup of coffee. You did really, really good.
Yeah.
That overcome the fried seafood platter from last night. I'm just kidding. It didn't happen. It was two nights ago.
Ron Carpenter. I didn't, uh, remember what I ordered. You said, don't order that seafood platter.
Oh, yeah. Because you ate French toast that morning. You ate French toast that morning. You ate fried bread with syrup on it.
Ah, he's under the law.
Anyway, I didn't let her get the seafood platter that night because she ate fried bread.
Okay, let's take a breath again. Okay.
I'm doing all right. How many minutes I got?
How many minutes do I got? Do I have discipline? Get a vision.
Get a vision. When you get a vision, if an alcoholic can get a vision, if an addicted person can get a vision, if someone strapped in bondage can get a.
Vision, what life could be if someone.
Absolutely strapped by debt could get a vision, somebody in an entry level, dead end job going nowhere, if they could get a vision. What the vision does is the vision brings restraint. Could it be that you're where you are because there's been no restraint in your life? I just want to ask you, is there any way you can maybe take some responsibility at where you've arrived? And now some boundaries need to come in so that it becomes no more a swamp, but a river. Where did the banks. Excuse me. Where did the life and the fruit grow in that Scene from Ezekiel 47? Not in the water.
No, on the banks.
On the banks. The fruitfulness of life comes with the boundaries and the disciplines of life.
And you, Ron, are so disciplined. I mean, just. We were talking about food.
Now, are you being funny?
No, I'm being for real. Like, Ron does these protein shakes every single morning. Every single morning. I'm like, do you not want me to cook breakfast? Nope. Hope I.
Yes, I do. Cause you're an amazing cook. I would love to sit there and.
Eat country ham with biscuits. No, because I already made a decision.
I'll talk about that.
He said, I already made the decision that every day I will do a protein shake for my breakfast so I don't have to make that decision again and again.
There's some decisions you make one time so you don't have to make it all the time.
For during the week at work, Ron's assistant knows. Ron's already chosen five lunches that he is willing to eat. Salmon, a salad. What else?
We give him a plug. Chipotle.
Chipotle. Yeah, Just different. But he's got five places that he will eat. His assistant can choose one of those five on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Ron says, I've made that decision. I don't have to take up mental space to make that decision ever again.
Babe, you are preaching. I forgot about this.
Right there. My. There's the banks. There's the banks. That's how he prospers. That's how he grows, is because his time is managed, his health is managed. All of those things, because he chose a long time ago that this is what I'm gonna do with my food. And I don't change.
I don't like working out.
Me either.
I really don't.
The difference is he does it when he don't like it, and I don't. I gotta get better at that.
It's hard, man.
Hey, y' all pray for me.
It's hard. When you've been on a plane, you've preached three times, you've gotten very little sleep, you've exhausted yourself giving Away. Everything you have and you show up and you've got work to do at the office, then on the way home.
Yep.
To go work out. No, I want to go eat a cheeseburger and lay down on the couch and cut on the tv.
Right.
But it's getting to that place. You know, my dad died at a very early age. I don't want that to happen to me. So what does that mean? I have to make some decisions, right? I don't want to leave you. I don't want to leave my children and grandchildren early. I want to be here. So I have to make some decisions that don't line up with personal preference. Would I rather eat your eggs and biscuits and gravy and grits full of cheese? My God.
But you know, this life, honestly, one thing I found in my 50 something years of living is it is a constant daily battle of crucifying your flesh. That's what discipline is.
You done got highly spiritual now, really is.
That's the bottom line. It's crucifying your flesh. It's doing what you should do instead of what you want to do.
But see, that's the way your heavenly Father is. Your heavenly Father does not give you everything you want. He gives you what you need. He promised to supply your need, not your wants. You have to ask yourself, what do I need? Not what I want. I want to touch lives. I want the kingdom to be preached to the whole earth. That's what I want. But what do I need to do to do that? To do that? What I need to do probably going to be a lot of fun. Can I be honest with you? I don't like fundraising. I've told you that a thousand times. When I go to a conference and I'm speaking and they ask me would I take up the offering that night, I just. I don't want to take up the offering. I don't like fundraising. But you know what? If you don't have any resources, you don't have any ministry, right? So going back to that vision, bringing restraint, the Bible says there's a life, live the life worthy of the calling you've received. Now, the context was he was talking to Timothy, a young contemporary. But that's period. You're going to be a bodybuilder. There is a life worthy of that calling. You're going to be married. Okay, you probably can't hang around with singles all the time. No, there's a life worthy of the calling you've received. You've been called to be married and Be a family man, then you're going to have to live a life of restraint, a life that is worthy that calling. Well, I want to be my first millionaire in my family. Praise the Lord. Do it. Break that generational curse off your family.
Can't spend all the time.
But there's going to be a life worthy of that calling that you have received. I want to be the first person to own their own business. Let me tell you something, Everybody pushes own your own business, Own your own business. It's hell owning your own business. If you like 40 hour work weeks, don't own your own business. If you like a world of security and you hate risk, you don't want to own your own business, operate every day in a world of risk. Every day I get up, I'm believing God when I wake up, that's what I have to do. And if your core value is security, you don't need to own your own business. But see, my core value is freedom, right? And so when you get to my core value, then I have to live a life worthy of the calling that I've received. I'm going to ask you, does your life reflect. Does your life reflect where you are or is what you're doing reflect where you want to go? Does your life reflect where you are or does it reflect where you want to go? Stop right there.
Listen, let me ask this. Jesus had his 12 disciples, right? And he had to discipline them. Who in your life is speaking into you and calling you higher and disciplining you?
Do you have anybody in your life that you give them permission to do that?
And it's more important who you're under than who you're over. It's more important who you're under than who you're over. So do you even allow people to call you on your crap? Do you even allow people to call you on your laziness? Do you allow people to call you higher? Are you. That attitude of can't nobody say nothing to me, this is my life, I'm grown, you know, blah, blah, blah. Well then that's the lid that your life will always be under. Who is speaking into your life to discipline you? You've got to have mentors and teachers.
That's where Paul said we have many instructors, few fathers, and we have very few fathers. You've got a lot of people that are giving you information and telling you how. That's a teacher, an instructor, a mentor, a father anchors you to your character. A father teaches discipline. That's what a father does. That's why David told God, the Lord is my shepherd. His rod and his staff comforts me. He says, when I get ready to get outside the boundary, I get tapped with that rod. He said, listen, and it doesn't make me mad. He said, it brings me comfort in a house where kids grew up and they knew there were boundaries, there was comfort when they knew anything goes the insecurity and anxiety that those children felt. Why? Because the rod and the staff comforts it. Because we're going somewhere. This river is flowing somewhere. We've got boundaries so good, and there's a life worthy of the calling that we've received. Now, I'm running out of time, so I want to hit this. Once you get the vision, the vision brings the restraints. Then you got to let the vision drive all decision making.
Talk about it.
I think one of the things, my first run on the east coast, of course, we have a campus and a congregation there now. But the first time at 27 years, I've told people something that I would do again, I'm not living in regret, but something I would do differently, that if it was good, I'd have said yes to it.
Right? Anybody come up to you with an idea, oh, Pastor, let's do blah, blah, blah. And you'd say, yeah, do it.
Was it 127 ministries, something like that? 137.
A lot.
It was unreal because if it was good, if it was wholesome, if I thought it would help people, I said yes to it. And the fact is, it's easy to say no to a bad thing, but it's hard to say no to a good thing.
Sometimes you have to say no to a good thing.
And so you have a part of discipline is knowing what to say yes to and what to say no to.
Right?
And I think if you'd asked me, Ron Carpenter, different in his 50s than in his 30s, I'll say no to things. I got hit the day before yesterday. Not hit. That's not a good way to put it. I got the opportunity for eight new speaking engagements two days ago when I met with my personal assistant. When I met with her, she went through these dates. I turned down seven of them. I love to preach, but every yes invades what I want to do.
It invades family time.
Oh, my gosh. It invades my energy level. It invades my mental level. I'm emotionally expending, I'm mentally expending, I'm spiritually expending. And if you keep doing that, where do you replenish so you keep emptying, but you never replenish. There are other things to me that meant more than being able to preach or even any honorarium or any blessing that would come out of that. Because now I think I'm more focused and my life has more strength. You know what to say yes to. The vision drives the way you spend your money. The vision drives the way you treat people. The vision drives what you spend your day doing. The vision usually drives who you hang with and who you don't.
So you gotta have. You gotta have a vision. And it will.
The vision brings restraints, puts boundaries.
And then you need somebody speaking into your life. You say, well, I don't have that or my pat. My church is too big. My church is too big. My pastor can't be my mentor. Blah, blah, blah. Get in a life group, pay for one. There are. There are tons of coaching opportunities online. We know lots of people who do this. Pay for a mentor, pay for somebody to hold you accountable, get you a prayer partner, accountability partner. There's somebody that you can bring into your life to help you establish boundaries and become more disciplined so that you can be everything that God's created you to be. That's the whole goal, right? It's so that you can be everything that God has ordained you to be so that you can do everything he's called you to do and live a fulfilling life.
So, good Lord, I pray for people right now that they look at their life and it resembles a swamp. And they say, there's no life here but God. That's not a terminal illness. They're not sentenced to that. They can make changes today that will change their tomorrow. And I just, right now, I challenge you. If you don't like where you are, you can't keep doing it. To get to a different place, there's going to have to be changes, but they're going to have to be seeds that you sow today that give you outcomes tomorrow that you desire. So what about my today? I hate my life. God will give you grace for your today. God will give you the grace for the harvest that you're living in. But you can change tomorrow's harvest by sowing something different today. Because the whole law that governs the kingdom is God has put the power of change in your hands. The power of a seed, the power of making a decision right now that can change my tomorrow. So good.
Yeah, we got tons of content. Go follow us. We're on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. I'm excited about Riff is a fairly new platform And I'm on Riff two days a week doing devices. Yeah, you got to subscribe to Riff, go to my page.
I got a platform. So if they came to yours, what would they. Could they expect?
Oh, they're gonna get lots of content for me. They're gonna get daily, two times a week. We're gonna do devotions. You're doing morning devotions on yours.
Throwbacks.
And on Tuesday night. What are you doing?
Ama, Ask me anything. That actually scares me a little bit because I'm not a scholar, but I've got a lot of life under my belt, and so I'm just opening it up. The Riff social media format is an interactive format. It's the best thing I've ever seen. Go download that and then subscribe and follow us. To us and follow us, because I would like for you to be a part of that. And it's got moderators on there. You can raise your hand and ask your question. Pretty cool. It's going to be amazing. Really looking forward to that. Love to see you there. Any parting statements?
Tons. Tons of stuff. Oh, and about what about Ron, the Vault. Tell them about the vault. It's pretty interesting.
Okay. The vault is subscription based. Okay. Because there's a lot of. There's a lot of charges and there's a lot of admin that goes along with it. But I have.
But it's so minimal.
I have taken. It's $9.95, $9.99, $9.95. And you can quit anytime you want to. But you wouldn't want to, but you're a little bit biased, baby.
That's good. All of ron's content, over 30.
This entire library. Three years of. Over 30 years of ministry on every topic imaginable. So you can customize your preaching, whatever you're dealing with. I promise you, I've talked about it and it's in there. I saw people, they'd order DVDs and CDs for $7, $8, $10 at a time. And I'm like, would you rather have one DVD or would you rather have my entire library for the same amount of money? So if you'd like to go even deeper and learn more, a lot of that's on there. So love you. So grateful we had this time with you. And we're going to be.
We'll see you next time. Tell your friends.
