Ron + Hope: Unfiltered - What I Didn't Learn in College (Life Skills)

Ron and Hope Carpenter talk about what college doesn't teach: conflict resolution, money management, and entrepreneurship. They share personal stories and practical advice for skills that actually matter after graduation.

Foreign.
Hello, everybody. It's Ron and Hope. Unfiltered, real raw, relevant. So glad you're here today, Ron. What you doing over there? Looking at my jewelry, Examining how many.
Years it's taken me for what? To put things on you.
Oh, Lord Jesus.
Did you know one day when you married me, I'd buy you something?
I hope so. You used to buy me pound puppies. You remember that?
We were dating.
When we were dating, we'd go to McDonald's and we'd get food and you'd buy me 2.99 stuffed animals, Ron. I had to sell them in yard sales so we could eat. I had to sell everything I had. I had a clown collection, I had Barbie collection, stuffed animal collection, clothes. I had all these things.
Every carnival, every little fair, everything we went to, I bought, like, one you huge animals. I never found out what happened to them. I just.
Well, you know, as you grow and you become an adult, you can't have 900 stuffed animals sitting in your room.
You can't have Pound Puppies. They don't even know what Pound Puppies are talking about. Some people were 80s.
Yes.
McDonald's or Hardee's.
I don't remember. It was one of them. The only one we could afford was Burger King, McDonald's and Hardee's.
I remember they were $1.49 for a pound puppy. Oh, I got you a whole bunch. You had every kind of pound puppy there was available, wouldn't you?
But, you know, as we started having children, you know, I had to move those pound puppies into the kids room.
Pound puppies were a whole lot cheaper than children.
And then they wanted to eat, so we had to have yard sales and sell things. So.
Well, speaking of college. College, you told me you wanted to do a podcast on things we did not learn in school or in college.
In college, we could go all day. We could do weeks and weeks on what you did.
Well, everybody didn't go to college in college. People. This could actually be things I didn't learn in school. You want to stick around? Because this is going to get interesting. Because when Hope told me that topic, at first, I didn't get real excited about it. Then I started thinking, literally, the times I've told you stuff that we have to do on a daily basis that no one prepared us for, we were never trained for, and to be honest with you, probably could have salvaged some.
Oh, yeah.
Some difficulties.
Oh, yeah.
Some difficult times.
Have avoided some roadblocks and bumps in the road. If we would have had mentors or school or a class or just anybody speaking into our life to prepare us for adulthood.
One confession, and not so much about you because you did do internships in your teaching and, and you did a lot of on the ground stuff with your music and you applied it with your pageants and everything. So you had that one thing about me that I never did and not many. I didn't have access to anybody. I'm going to take up myself a little bit. Nobody was asking me. But most great men and women of God had somebody that they served. They had a great man or a great woman that they just carried their briefcase. You know, Elisha poured water on Elijah's hands and then finally received his mantle. You know, they just serve them. You know, what do you need? Just run their tape table, just travel with them, carry their briefcase, help watch and learn. Yeah, just you're observing and you have no idea what's. There's information and you're learning a lot of that, but you have no idea how to quantify impartation. Yeah. And the impartation that is falling on you when you get to be a protege, it doesn't matter what field you're in. I'm just talking about my field, but what field you're in. Being a protege. We've noticed that a lot of these tech companies here in the Bay Area, we have heard the astronomical amount of money they're paying interns.
Yeah, right.
They are paying. They're paying six figure salaries to come with benefits packages to come and watch us do what we do. Which blows me away. That is a precedent. I think it's biblical. I think that's a biblical model. And honestly, let me say that I never got that. I was pretty hard headed. I don't know if I would have done it if somebody would have offered, but I didn't have anybody like that in my life offering me a chance to come along beside me. So we struck out on our own with basically what we learned in school. And though I love my school, I bless my school. I got saved there, met you there. He got turned around there, but maybe use 10% of it.
Right. I remember the first board meeting that you had and you were like, what I didn't learn in college, what do I do? How do I conduct this board meeting? I mean, I mean, all the ins and outs of a board meeting.
I called my dad, he said, Robert's Rules of Order. I'm like, robert, who I didn't know.
But that was the school of thought.
He was from I didn't know Robert's Rules of Order. I didn't know, you know, I didn't know what a quorum was. Right. I didn't. You know, the first board meeting I was ever in, I was the chairman, you know, and I'm leading.
And you never had a class.
I'm leading the thing on how to.
Pastor a church and conduct a board meeting.
I started a church, never knew how to pastor, you know, never knew how to conduct a class, do a board meeting, you know, you've got to have. Unbelievable. We're just shooting off at the mouth. We're going to bog down on some stuff, but just to talk nonprofit IRS compliance, I'm just going to go out and start a church. Yeah. And then everybody say, well, you got your nonprofit. I'm like, my non. What? Yeah, your 501C.
Oh, we have to have that before we have a church.
I didn't know. I didn't know. You know, and not only do you have to have that, I have a staff of people that do nothing but keep us in compliance now, because the rules, you know, or to the roof, the compliance issues. And so you. Nobody told me that. I didn't know. So, you know, the things that are real life things. It's very hard for school to teach because school is not meant to demonstrate. It's meant to give you knowledge. That's what it's designed to do. So it's not really failing in what it's designed to do. It's not really built for life application.
It needs more.
Yeah, it's not built for life application. Here's what we're going to do. I'm going to pick three or four. Okay. These are things that I entered adulthood with a massive deficiency. Okay. Things you didn't learn in school. And maybe our journey and five to seven minutes on each of them will help you just a little bit. Because our podcast is not just to entertain you with our banter, but it's also maybe to throw something in there that can actually help you. Number one, people's inability to resolve conflict. I never would have dreamed.
And life is nothing but interacting with people. Every job that you work at, marriage.
Everything in life is a relationship is people. You have a relationship with your banker, you have a relationship with your schools, with your kids, teachers. You have a relationship with your wife. You have a relationship with your in laws, with your friends, you have relationship with acquaintances, relationship with employees and employees, employers. And everything in life is managing a relationship. I have been blown away. I can't Emphasize enough. I feel like I could crawl through the mic. Hope, if I've told you one time, I've told you a thousand times, People's inability to resolve, to resolve their own conflict has been one of the most surprising things in life and ministry.
People usually run from conflict they don't want to resolve.
Conflict avoiders. And the thing is, if I avoid it long enough, maybe the conflict will go away. But what is avoided grows and you cannot change what you will not confront. So don't complain about what you're not willing to confront. That's what I've learned.
Yeah, it's true.
I can't sit around and walk around and complain about it every day if I never confront it. And so what you don't confront, it just grows. But you don't learn these things in School. Matthew 18.
Recipe.
If, if you have all with your brother, go to your brother. We were looking at a famous band that we loved growing up in the 80s, and they're 70 years old now and they're airing out a lawsuit, a lawsuit and a disagreement on social media. These are grown people, 70 years old. Go to your brother. Good. You know what I'm dealing with? I've been dealing with the last 24 hours. A commercial type contract that we've been dealing with. And two of the people that are involved in the contract won't talk to each other. And what is really their problem, they've made ours has fallen into my lap because they will not have a result. And I'm sitting there and I'm like, it goes on and on and on through my 20s, 30s, 40s, and now that I'm 48, it really just goes on and on.
And the majority of the people we're talking about that we deal with, now that I'm 48, the majority of the people we're dealing these are Christians. I'm not talking about the world.
We're not talking about the world.
I'm talking about Christians who I'm like, did you not read the book of Matthew? Did you not read. Did you skip that part?
Go to your brother. If you cannot resolve it between you and your brother alone, take a witness.
So that's number one, go to your brother.
Go to your brother.
Doesn't get fixed.
Secondly, take a witness. The Bible says then thirdly, bring them before the church. Not talking about stand on stage and tell it to the auditorium. But in other words, seek out leadership within the church to mediate. And then said, and if, then you've gone through those three stages, he Said, you know, basically, wipe the dust off your feet.
Yeah.
Shake the dust and move on. Because you. And as much as it's up to you, be at peace with all men. You can't control their response. But people's inability to talk, to come to compromise. I tell people, my whole life is compromised.
Not with me.
We've learned the art of compromise and everything. And you and I are so. We're so amazingly alike, but we're amazingly different. And where we're different, we have to come to a place of compromise. And so in marriage, you get a PhD in compromise. But, babe, for instance, I get asked a lot to speak to pastors about how to create multiculturalism in a church. Compromise. Nobody can go and bring all the chips to their side of the table.
Yeah. We had this conversation with one of our children who was trying to mediate, navigate through a disagreement. And that's what you told them. You said, you know, in marriage, you can't. You can't win all the time.
No, no. And it's not about win. It's about resolution.
Yes. It's about clearing this thing up.
You're not in it. I beat you. You're in it to bring about resolution. And, you know, I would say after a long time, you and I are pretty good at that. We know when we got something that's aggravating us and it's a point of contention, and we got to fix it. And we got to fix it so we don't walk around three days and pout, walk around mad and slinging stuff. We just like, look, we need to talk about this. And usually we sit down and we're reasonable people and we understand I'm probably going to have to give up something. You probably going to have to give up some. But can I just get me a big Brownie point right here? My peace with you means more than me winning that argument. I want to be at peace. I want my relationship with you. Right. Because that's where my peace comes from, is knowing that me and you are good, not knowing I got everything I wanted. You see what I'm talking about? So it's the whole way you posture yourself going into it. And.
Before we go on, let's do our. Let's shout out to our ad right here.

Now we're going to talk about money in just a minute. All right. That's another one finishing up on this because I want to talk three or four and like I said, we're already over a third about halfway through our time. But I'm passionate about these things. You know, resolving conflict. Take responsibility to deal with your offenses. Take responsibility for that. You know, a brother offended, the Bible said is worse than a walled city. And the Bible says to take no offense. The Bible says that true love is not easily offended. And so you know, there is a sense of maturity in God that is proven by the fact that you don't walk around every day with your feelings on your shoulders.
That's right.
The Bible says when I was a child, I thought like a child. I acted like a child, acted like a child. I understood that's where offenses come from. Understood as a child. But when I became a man, I put that stuff away. So going around and waking up every day waiting for somebody to hurt your feelings, that is still really, really immature level living in God. So God.
But it will come. The Bible says offense.
The Bible says it's impossible for him not to come.
Okay, so when you do.
I didn't think about that. Look, how many times did Jesus use the word impossible. Not much. You don't have God walking around talking about impossibilities. He said there's one thing that is impossible for you to go through life and not be offended.
Right.
So you're going to have to learn how to deal with. Learn how to deal with it. Conflict. Learn how to deal with choices out there.
If you don't know it's Matthew 18, go read it today, Read it and see where maybe you have fallen short of saying, well, man, I, I missed the mark on that.
Remember, years ago I preached, blessed are the peacemakers. Yeah, I might need to pull some of that stuff out again and repeat it. Anyway, one of the things I didn't learn in school is how to resolve conflict number two, money management. I'm not talking about offerings and giving, I'm talking about money management.
Ron, not even money management. They didn't even teach you how to balance a checkbook. You depended on your parents to teach you how to do. I know people don't do that these days. You have your apps, but you still.
Have to balance your account. Yes, you don't balance a checkbook, but people have to learn how to balance their account. But money management as a whole, you know, now we understand through much teaching and much learning and God prospering us, there is a part that goes to our giving. There's a part that goes to our future. There's a part that goes to our bills. There are percentages and margins in each budgetary item that we will or will not go over. You know, if that car payment goes above such and such percent of our earning, I'm not going to pay it.
Right.
You know, and so I go shopping with that threshold in mind. People don't, they get themselves in trouble. People go onto a car lot and they don't ask how much the price is. They don't ask how much the interest rate is. And women especially get taken advantage of with this. And that makes me so mad. They go, say, how much is the payment?
Yeah, well, they can finangle it.
When you walk up to a salesman and say, what is the payment? You have just sealed your doom. You're probably going to pay 20% over value for what that car is because they can get you at a payment and finance it till your children die. I mean, you see what I'm talking about. But they can get you at that payment. Just learning what to ask. How people move around numbers. Learning, learning about taxes. Yes, income taxes are the most highly taxed monies that you have so what you are working for right now is your highest tax bracket. I heard the CEO of Coca Cola made $7 million last year. But Warren Buffett was an investor in Coca Cola. He made 33 million. Okay, listen, the $7 million income, he paid more taxes than the dividend of 33 million. Because Rich people usually don't have a job, so they don't even deal with the income tax bracket. They're managing their money. And so all of their earnings come from dividends, which is taxed at a lower rate.
Right. Nobody talks about this in college.
So this is why everybody's talking about passive streams of income. Passive streams because the rich have all this money coming in because their money is making money.
So you got. Let me ask you this, though. Let me stop you. You got an average Joe in college, in high school, they're going to make, say, a little bit more than minimum wage. Okay? Can they get out of that? Can they ever do anything financially? Is there anything that the average Joe can do to take some money and make it work for them?
I'll tell you how.
You have to be rich to get.
Rich and save you all the money on all Dave Ramsey's book. No respect to Dave Ramsey. I think he's a great guy. You have to live below your income, no matter what that is. If it's a tent and a sleeping bag and you've got to have margins where you can take and go ahead and be taken from what you earn and move it into something passive. The IG community, Instagram community, that calls it a side hustle. Yeah, that's a big thing, that side hustle.
So live below your means. Don't spend more than you make.
For instance, you and I have a salary. Me and you have purposed that we will live off that salary. But we have many streams of income, streams that go into trusts, streams that go into college, funds for our grandchildren, stocks and bonds, things that go into our 401. Why? Let me tell you something. I believe people love me. Do you believe people love you? I believe these people love me. But the fact is, nobody's going to take care of my future. No, nobody's going to take care of. And I'm having to understand that there's going to come a day where maybe I'm not a primary voice that people listen to anymore. Well, what am I going to do? I better have now prepared for me a future to live in so that I don't have to be 80 years old and climbing on a plane trying to find somewhere to Preach every Sunday to make a living.
I remember when we first got married. I mean, we didn't have a pot to pee in. Literally. I mean, lived in houses with no heat. If you've heard our story, you know, it was pitiful. But one thing we were determined to do, we would sit down. I remember when we had our first child in 94, 1994. And we started that year with a college.
$25 a month. $25 a month.
A month. And we were y', all, that. That was a lot of money to us. That was our going out to eat money. But we said, this is what's important to us. And we made a sacrifice. Most people listening to me are waiting on the overflow to come so that they can build their future in other means to help them out financially. But we sacrificed. We didn't wait for overflow to come so that we could put it somewhere else.
The sacrifice creates the overflow.
Yes, absolutely. It's like if I made more tithe. No, you wouldn't, because you won't tithe.
On what you're not faithful over little. You won't be faithful over much. And if you'll Rob God of $100, you certainly rob him for a million, right? And so. So well put, number one. But, you know, just to continue, continue in this vein, I got so much I want to say. I'm trying. Because I say my time. I'm trying to pick and choose where I want to go and where I.
Don't touch him. Jesus.
Oh, no. I got plenty of thoughts. It ain't trying to come up with something. People sitting there saying, okay, it's all right for y' all to sit there and tell us all this for where y' all are in life.
No, we're talking about college.
People didn't see our journey. No, people didn't see our journey. And people didn't see how we had to learn from our mistakes. People don't know that I came to you and said, hope, I remember the conversation. I don't remember how old we were, but I remember the conversation. I said, if you don't get tied to a house because women do bad, this is the house.
It's my dream house.
This is the house I raised my kids in. This is my house where, you know, I had my first baby. I said, if you don't get sentimentally tied to a house, let me use houses on the side as a way to create wealth. Side hustle, passive, stream. So me and you embarked on living in a house four to five Years, not every year. Not dragging our kids about five years, four to five year income. And so what we would do? Buy one in repossession from a bank, fix it up or a crappy little one.
Not even repossession.
Live in it, sell it at a much larger price. Don't take the money and spend it right. Invest all the money. Invested in a next level house.
Absolutely.
Went in next level house, bought it from repossession, Something like that. Bought it cheap. Bought it from a builder, something they couldn't get rid of. Fix it up, live in it, make it better. I can't even. Eight times. Yeah, maybe seven. Eight different times. Now you stack, you know, making 7,500, $150,000 per house, 250, 500,000. It just grows so now, you know, over 20, 30 years. And so what it is, here's another thing, and I'm going to move on from this one. I feel the Holy Ghost. I'm going to be honest with you. We're helping somebody. Is preachers that preach the blessing is instant. The blessing of God is something that's on you, that causes you to multiply, increase, fill the earth, subdue it and have dominion. But the preacher's get your blessing. You got to before you leave here today, get everybody's screaming and everybody goes home just as broke as they came in. That's not the way.
Everything in life is a process.
Everything is a process. It's brick by brick and it's piece by piece, line upon line, precept upon precept, from faith to faith, from glory to glory. Process is always through the Bible. And it is a journey of blessing. And you prosper.
It's a journey of faithfulness.
You prosper as your soul prospers. So as I grow and develop in my mind, in my soul and my wisdom, temperament, my wisdom, my happiness, then all of a sudden my life can grow to my level of revelation. So, you know, from managing your account to another thing we did right at the beginning is $18 a month, whatever is life insurance.
Yeah, we did that from the beginning.
I mean, I'm talking. We got life insurance when we were trying to buy groceries.
Nobody talked to us about this though, not even our parents at that point. Life insurance, college didn't talk to us. Thank God that we pursued wisdom. You know, if you, if you lack it, ask.
That's a whole nother thing.
He'll give it to you. But listen, that's back in the eight, 1980s and 90s. We didn't have Google now we got Google University. We have the computer where you can ask anything. You can find out how to be an individual.
You can talk to it and it'll give you the answer.
Yes, you can find out how to manage your money. You can. If you don't know, it's your own fault.
Elon Musk said for the first time ever, he's not sure of the value of a college education. He said, because there's nothing you can't learn on the Internet.
It's so true.
And then he said, I'm not an aerospace engineer, but I'm building rockets.
Isn't that something? Yeah.
So you know what a blessing.
You know what, there are some curses to it. Yes, absolutely.
Now I want to say, because I didn't know the Bible and I'm going to be a preacher, that's not a good matchup. And I came out and my school did an amazing job of grounding my theology, giving me a doctrine and making me where I'm not teaching some crazy, flaky mess out here. And I came out with a great working knowledge of the word of God, but the life skills for life and the entity and organism of a church. Yeah, I didn't have a clue. No, I didn't have a clue. But that's what I do every day. I preach on Sunday, but the rest of the day I'm running an organization. And so the first one, how to resolve the inability to resolve conflict.
Number two, money management.
Money management. I haven't prepared the third one, so I'll let you talk. Those were my main two. Those were my two big ones.
Well, we asked some of our staff about entrepreneurship. They were like, I want to hear about that. You go to college to do your specific thing, right? But not many parents or people say, yeah, go out and do something fresh and new that, that has no security.
Okay, I'm going to do something different than what Tony Robbins and those guys do. I would like to have a conference across the hall from Tony Robbins and those guys. Not that what they say is wrong. I've turned on some YouTube clips and listened to those motivational guys. Okay? But they get people to pay $10,000, pack out a 20,000 seat arena and tell them, you don't have to work a job, you can be your own man. And I'm going to tell you something. Everybody does not have the skills.
No, they do not.
To be their own man.
No.
And everybody does not have the drive. Everybody does not have the discipline. And you go back to Robert Kiyosaki the core value quadrant that he does.
Yes.
And when you do the core value quadrant, some people, their core value is security. Entrepreneurship is never, never, ever going to bring you security. If security is your core value, entrepreneurship, you need to avoid it like the plague.
Yeah. It's going to make you itch.
Yeah, you need to avoid it like the plague because there are great companies with great benefits that will give you securities, great pension plans with a great culture, and you can get up every day and look forward to what you're going to do and the people you going to do it with. And nobody says that, but if your core value is freedom, that's mine.
Yeah.
People who are entrepreneurs, their core value is not money. Their core value is freedom. I would rather work 15 hour days on my own terms than eight hours on yours. Yeah, that's just the way I'm built. So people go into entrepreneurship, you know, I'm working 45 hours a week. I'm. Oh, man, I can work 20. No, you're going to work 60, you're going to work more, you're going to work 60. I personally don't know anybody. I know a lot of people out here in Silicon Valley with startup tech companies. They worked in a company and they worked 40 hours. Now they've gone out and doing their own startup and they're working 80.
Yes.
Here again, you know, we got Zuckerberg, Musk and everybody here. I'm not talking about where the people like them, but just their quotes have weight because of how successful they've been. Elon Musk said this. He said he sold his $39 million house. And this is what he said. He said, because things are a distraction to me. So he sold his house, moved a bed into his office. He lives in his office. And he said, I work 365 days a year, seven days a week, and people still say I'm lucky.
That's a quote. It's not luck.
Entrepreneurship, there's no way around the grind. You have to be self motivated. You need to pick up my message from this past Sunday because I'm going to talk about being intrinsically motivated. If you are the kind of person that needs to be patted on the back, you do not need to be an entrepreneur, okay? It is a thankless job where you have to get up every day and you are self motivated against all odds, against banks telling you no and you don't have no history and you don't have any collateral and you don't have this and you don't have that in your Face all the time. Been there, done that. You better be able to deal with rejection.
You have to be resilient. You have to be told no a lot and you have to keep going. You can't be that kind of person who gets your feelings hurt and you get embarrassed, come in defeated, all in a corner and you want to cry and you care what other people think. You've got to be a person that's resilient if you want to be an entrepreneur.
Now, I get down, but you get back up, let me tell you. Yeah. And there's one person I talk to and she knows the drill and she's an amazing woman. She has to let me come and just talk to her and I got to get it out. And after I get it out, she knows I'm going to leave and find a solution. Yeah, I'll find a solution. Just let me be aggravated a little.
You can be aggravated, but you got to keep going.
But I'm going to get up and I'm going to find a way out of it. So I'm not talking about this is what you do if you want to start your business. I'm talking about the intangibles that you have to have the personality makeup, the discipline, the personal disciplines. You have to be a good. I've been talking to Chas about diligence. We're working with Chaz, who is now a project manager, our second son within the ministry, and he's trying to secure land leases for parking in the adjacent properties around us. And just something as simple is he can't get to the people who make the decisions and nobody will return his calls. And these leases are very important to the health of our church. And you know, he kind of man. I've left them two messages and I went by there, they're going to call me back and I'm like, no, they're not.
Ron said, you go knock on the.
Door, I said, you're going to have to go lay down in front of their car in their parking lot and say you're going to have to call the police and I'm going to cause a scene if you don't.
Somebody going to talk to me today.
And that's the way you have to be. I remember the first time I got my dream was to have Bishop Jakes preach. That was my dream. And 2004, we built that 4200 seat sanctuary and I'm like, there's finally a place here that can hold him. So I had been turned down by him. Not anything Bad. Just his schedule. I don't know how many times. But I remember I wanted him to come dedicate that building. And I told his assistant, I told his assistant, I said, I'm going to fly to Dallas. I said, I'm going to lay down on the hood of his car. I said, and I'm going to be on the news because you're going to have to call the police and I'm going to cause a scene. I said, if you don't let me talk to him about coming, dedicate this building. And I got him.
Yep.
And I got him.
But you know, church planters, that's also entrepreneurship, and that's a different. That's a different skill set than going to college, going to seminary. I mean, cemetery. Oh, I mean seminary, and getting your degree to be a pastor. So you think because you have a pastoral degree that you can be a church planter?
Church planter's apostolic.
Yes. And it's totally different.
In fact, pastoring will aggravate the life out of a church planter, apostolic person. Because pastoring has to do with maintaining. And apostolic people are miserable maintaining.
They're builders.
They're builders.
Yes.
So I'm apostolic and I love my people that God has given me to steward. But I can't just maintain shepherding sheep. I can't do it. I'm not built that way. I'm trying to see what ain't been done yet and build toward it. And here again in the kingdom, that is a certain skill set. It is another skill set. When you start a church or start a business, is that for a while you have to do everything. So are you multi? What do you call it? Multi.
Are you flexible to be able to. To slip into other roles?
Case in point, when we started our church, we went in there Saturday night and cleaned the building, laid the carpet. Okay. We went in there Sunday morning. You played the keyboard and you led worship. I played the drums. When worship was over and I wanted to pray for people at Dr. I got off the drums, got a mic and went and prayed for people at Dr. When all the music was over, I would take over the service. You would get up and go to the nursery and start taking care of the kids. When that day was up over, we would take the toys, bag them up, take them home and wash them in a bath. I mean, then I would go in on Monday and call all the visitors.
We made it happen.
You know what I'm talking about?
I mean, come on, give me some. Give me some skin.
We visit the people that need to be visited. I'm going and having lunch and casting vision with businessmen who I'm wanting to invest in the vision and what we're doing. You got to do it all.
That's if you're a church planner and.
You'Re apostolic here again, but we're talking about entrepreneurship. Yes, entrepreneurship. If you starting your own insurance company or you whatever, you better know a little bit about how the whole thing runs because you're going to have to.
Because you're going to have to do it all. At first. At first.
And then through the process you grow and you get to work your life into the thing that you're best at and what you love. But you got to do a lot of things you don't love to get.
To where you love to get to.
Do the things that you do love. Baby. This has been one of my most enjoyable ones.
Yeah, this is great. I mean there's so many questions, you know, people, they don't have. So many people don't have parents who will pour into them or the ability to even go to college, especially this day and to have a one on one conversation with somebody who's been there, done that. So I'm just, you know, we're trying to scratch where people are itching and here's answer, answer some questions.
Let me throw out a promo. Here I am in a series called the Wisdom Society where I'm talking about basically wisdom and life skills. It's kind of a different message for me. I would ask some of you to chime in on that and get in with us on it because some of these diligence, discipline, self motivated, you know, a lot of these multitude of counselors, a lot of these things. The Bible says that the wise increase in learning. I think, I think people who God says are wise are always a student. And we have a generation that I'm not sure how good listeners they are. When you're 24 years old and you already know everything, that scares me. And when you're 28 and you're never wrong, I mean never wrong, something's not right. A fool despises instruction, Solomon said, but the wise always increase their learning. So if you've got to increase your learning, who do you lend your ear to and do you have the discipline to follow an instruction so good.
Listen, we're not perfect. We don't know everything. But we are in our 50s and you know, God has shown us some things. We've been good students, we've sought out counsel, we are readers, we are students and go follow us. Go follow us on Instagram, Facebook. Go to ichurch. Go to ich. If you don't have a church. And go listen to these messages. And I hope we helped you today. It's Ron and Hope unfiltered. Until next time.
Love you guys. Bye. Bye.
