Hello, everybody. It's Ron and Hope. Unfiltered, real raw and.
Are you back? Are you back?
Guess who's back?
Are you back?
Back again.
I told her we was talking before we started. It's been about a month.
No.
Yes, it has.
Has it?
We had. Was it Andrew? I did one with somebody. Who'd I do one with?
Taco?
No, I did it with somebody on staff. Then after that I did one by myself. Cause I kind of did a little bit of a teaching.
Then we didn't drop.
Then we didn't drop one at all. And then this week since Queens conference. Yeah, so it's been about a month. So she had so much of the production crew out in San Antonio at the Queens conference, I don't even know if we had enough people left over to make it happen.
That was so good.
Tell us what happened. Give us the 60 second rundown.
60 seconds. It was.
You told me you sold things you ain't never seen.
It's true. It was. It was a God conference. It was. You know, sometimes we'll do conferences or we'll go to conferences and we'll be like, oh, the production or the worship or they had a dance team or you focus on that kind of stuff. We tried not to. We didn't plan any of that kind of stuff. I said I wanted to.
And there's nothing wrong with any of that stuff. Nothing wrong with it.
Just to be truly God in us and God speaking to us and calling us.
Worshiping word.
Worshiping word. And. And boy, did he ever. We had, of course, so much opposition spiritually and physically. And when you have that, you know, God's about to do something.
I heard a bunch of people throwing up.
You got oppressed? Yeah, we had some vomiters, we had some pukers, had some vomiting.
What in the world does that mean? Tell them what's going on.
It wasn't a stomach virus. It was some demonic activity.
People were very common during. When people are being delivered. That's actually very common. And we haven't seen. We went through a span of time. We didn't see that as much. And we're starting to see it again. There was a time in redemption's history where that was almost every Sunday somebody. And then we went through a span of time, not so much. And now it's kind of making its way back in.
It started on Friday night and it went through Saturday morning.
Sometimes you only lay hands on them. It's just what I call is a clash of two kingdoms.
It was so powerful Really, I had some amazing friends who were there to speak and how God just built it, how he. You know, I started it with talking about Kingdom DNA, you know, who you are becoming, who you already are and how low we live below our potential and what Christ died for. And, you know, that we're not trying to win. We're already winners. That, you know, God chose us before the foundation of the world to do something great in the earth. That if we're here, that we have a purpose. Talked about the manufacturer. Only the manufacturer knows the purpose and the intent of what he made and just drove that in. And then my friend Kelly Steele came in and talked about the qualities of a queen. And, you know, how we're different and we can't operate like the world. And, you know, we want to slap people and punch people, but the queen, you know, a royal person, operates different. And then we had a panel. We had Chantelle Santiago talk about the language of the queen. And then that night, Christine Martin came in and just really flowed prophetically and just tapped into a frequency of heaven, really, and just ministered. I'm talking about it from the front all the way around the perimeter of the back of the building. People were just slain in spirit. Hundreds of people. Hundreds of people just being ministered to. She was rapping prophetic words that rhymed. I mean, seriously, it was so intense. It really was. And then the next day, we had a coronation service. We anointed and crowned. And to go out and live on the revelation that we've learned, it was very special. It was powerful.
So, like, I crowned you at our house, you went out and crowned everybody else.
Yes. Yes, king. Yes, king.
That's what you did.
I talked about the last day, though. I said, you know, there'd be no need for a queen if there wasn't a king. And everything that we've been talking about and everything.
Did you help the men out?
I've been imparting. I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about the king, Jesus.
I thought you were talking about the men of the house.
No, I'm talking about we are who we are because he is our king. Right. It was powerful.
So men are Lord?
Yes.
Remember Sarah called Abraham Lord? Yeah. Okay, so Jesus is king, man or.
Lord for letting me follow this crazy.
How did you do eight days without me? How was that?
That was difficult. Now.
Now you're in front of everybody. You can't be funny. You gotta tell the story.
No, it's true. I left you on Monday and I didn't See you again.
Till last Monday.
Yeah, the next Monday.
Next Monday night. Yeah. It was a long time. So, all good. I'm glad it went good. She did tell me. She called me tonight after it was over. She said, I ain't seen. I've seen things I ain't never seen. I thought me and Hope seen a lot of good church and we've seen a lot of crazy, miraculous, supernatural things. So for you to say that, that's pretty.
I love that, though, the longer you. You know. Even though I'm 57 today, today is my birthday.
Today's her birth. Today is the birthday of her birth month.
Yes.
For those of you who don't know what that means, Hope has birthday of the earth. How many years ago?
69. 57 years.
I've seen a lot, but I love that God continues. The revelation of who he is just keeps. He just reveals himself differently.
Praise him according to his excellent greatness.
How he excels in greatness.
Yep. So the root word of excellent is excel. The word excel means to go beyond. Praise him now that he's able to go beyond anything you saw, and he.
Does before, and he will, and he can.
So that's the great thing about God, is you never exhaust him.
Never.
You never exhaust him. And soon as you think he's shown you the greatest side he's got, he's got a whole nother side of him you ain't never even seen. I think that this ain't meant to be preachy, but, you know, that's why the angels continue to cry holy. As far as we know, they've been crying holy for infinity. Because the word holy means separate and other. So every time they see him holy, and before they get that holy, because they see a whole nother side of God they've never seen. And that's the way I want my life with God to be. That's the way you stay. One of the ways you stay fresh and passionate and on edge is because there's always another holy. Holy. Holy is the Lord God Almighty.
You gotta be in his presence. You gotta be with him and intimate with him to get that revelation. So that's what I told. I said, I'm so thankful and so glad that you ladies pressed to get here. I said God gave me a vision of this conference, that it would be the woman with the issue of blood, that it was going to be inconvenient, that it was going to be, you know. Well, you didn't do this in California or you didn't do it in Greenville, you know, you're doing it over here. And I got to get a plane ticket and a hotel room and, you know, then there's all this construction going on in San Antonio. It was very inconvenient, but we pressed and you seek, you find, you knock, he opens. And that's what he did for us. It was great.
I told him you said, what are we talking about, Dan? I just had an idea. I said, what would 57 year old hope tell? 27 year old hope?
Oh, boy, buckle up.
What would 57 year old hope turn around and tell? 27? I remember distinctly your mid to late twenties. 27, you would have been on Baby Chaz, either having him or just had him. So you'd had one kid and you would have had another one on the way. And the church was, by that time we were full time. So the church had grown enough where we were full time pastors of a church and we weren't doing all these other things to make a living. Trying to plant the church. The church had planted, the church was growing, but still not exposed to a lot, still hadn't seen a lot, still had no mentors. I told people, I said our life was crazy. A lot of people have mentors to help them grow. I said, nobody ever came into our life until we'd already grown. It's kind of weird after God had done all these unbelievable things through two kids who didn't have a clue, then all these people started coming into our life. And so we never had nobody kind of hold us and say, let me walk you through this. I know where you're at. Let me walk you through it.
I think that's what I would tell the 27 year old. What is, you could avoid a lot of pain and a lot of mistakes if you would have voices in your life, people who you submit yourself to. And it's not that we didn't want it, we just didn't have.
That's why I was gonna ask you. I was going, I'm not pushing back. I'm just saying, I don't know nobody that wanted to run open.
We wanted it.
Yeah, we wanted it.
We just didn't have it. But, you know, to the best of your ability, who's listening? You know, if you could avoid some pain and some mistakes, if you could latch yourself to mentorship, if you could find somebody to speak into your life and then you gotta be teachable, you know, that's a whole nother thing. You gotta be teachable if they're gonna.
Speak if you're not teachable, you're not.
Gonna wanna mentor them to pour into you or to correct you or to help you, but you've got to be able to receive it. And that's the tough part. And you don't know what you don't know. You don't know at 27 how you, whatever went through or brought up had affected you. At that point you're just trying to live and pay bills and get the kids homework done. And there's, there's a lot of just surviving.
If you get up that day and you make it till that night, it's.
A win, it's survival. When you got littles and you're trying to pay bills and all those things.
But, and you're incessant like entrepreneurs trying to start a business, we're just in the ministry world.
But know this, that whatever you have brought into your, you know, marriage in your 20s, it's going to come out in your life eventually in your 30s, your 40s. What the world calls a midlife crisis, whatever. It's not a midlife crisis. It's just everything you've been through and what's been done to you and how you've been treated and relationships and pain is going to come out of you. And if you will work on your heart and if you will work on your pain.
So is that number two, that's the second thing you tell yourself, get a mentor. Get a mentor.
Number two, work on yourself, get healing.
When you're 27, do you even know what your PA? No.
But somebody can help. But somebody can help you.
A lot of people at 27 still creating their pain that they'll deal with at 47 or whatever.

So mentorship's needed. Go to work early.
Yeah. On yourself.
On painful issues or unmet needs.
And don't just say, oh, that happened in the past. I'll be okay. No, it's in there festering.
Don't diminish its effects. Don't diminish its effects. What's the third thing that you would tell yourself?
I'd probably marry you real early. Early on. I'd marry you at 19.
You don't want me to reveal you and uncover you right here? How you would ask me to marry you all.
No, I don't care. I wanted to get married. I'd beg you to take me.
She did.
To the courthouse and get married.
She did.
And then you know what you would say? I say, ron, we don't have to tell anybody. Let's just go get married. We don't have to tell you. You said, hope we'd be having sex because we'd be married and you'd get.
Pregnant and nobody would believe.
Nobody would believe that we were really married.
Because that was important to me, wasn't it? It was so important to me because what.
Having sex, that.
That holds a pretty high standard with me even to this day.
Oh, gosh about.
You were the first, like, godly relationship man. I dated some Christian girls. I'm not talking about, but I mean.
Relationship where we were putting God first in our relationship.
You were the first one, really, I ever had. And I didn't.
We didn't. We didn't want to mess it up.
No, I didn't want to mess it up. And I think you remember I. It was extremely tough because we dated a long time. We were engaged two of the three years that we dated. And, you know, we had all the normal hormone structure of anybody 20 years old. But the fact is, I wanted to do it right. I wanted to do it right. I honored you. I didn't want to.
I thought it would be fun if we would go through college married. You thought it would be miserable.
Well, you know why, though? Because you didn't. These. Don't know. You know, Emanuel College at that time was two year. It was only four year if you was in ministry. Nobody that was in the two year liberal arts school that you were in was married. They were commuters or they were in the dorm. The school of ministry people, a lot of them I was in classes with, they were married couples and they were not having fun because they're paying rent, they're paying bill, they're working third shift jobs. You know, they're waiting tables at pizza. Nothing wrong with that. I'm just talking about. But they're doing all that in a.
Full time extra pressure.
And so I'm sitting there like, man, when we get married, I want it to be like, I've waited my whole life for this. I want it to be the greatest thing ever. They did look like they were surviving. You talking about surviving? Those people in married housing looked like they were surviving. And it wasn't attractive to me. And I'm like, I don't want to get married to go live in student housing for me. And you, you know, you work all day and I work all night so we could be married. I didn't want to do that. So I'm sure that doesn't go for all of them. You don't have to get in the comment section and tell, tell us how you did it. And you were great. It just. The people I was with, they just didn't look like they were having a lot of fun.
Go back to my birthday.
As much as I wanted to, you said you'd have married me earlier. That's three things. All right. What's the fourth thing you tell your younger sister?
You keep adding them.
Well, I mean, you said three. A mentor. Pay attention to your issues earlier. And number three, you'd have married me earlier.
I would have.
What else?
My 20 something year old. Okay, what else would I have done? I probably would have focused on my health more.
Soulless, mental, physical.
Because that's never really been, you know, I was athletic. I played volleyball in high school. I was a cheerleader.
Baby, you gonna make fun of me? You were active. You were not athletic.
I was active.
You were active. You were not athletic. No, you are not athletic.
He makes fun of me when I run, number one.
So anyway, you are not athletic. But go ahead.
Anyway, I would have focused more on that early on so that it would be an easier, more priority for Me later in life instead of trying to start that later in life.
That's a good one. Okay, Got any others? You know what I tell my 20 some year old self?
What?
This pace is not sustainable.
But you better do it while you can.
Do you remember the pace?
Yes.
Pace is not sustainable.
We laugh at people even today though minding your pace has to be supernatural.
Our pace right now is absolutely insane.
It is insane. It is insane. And I see all these young people just coming off this conference that we just did who are dying. I mean, they're just like, I can't come into work.
Let me tell you what Chandler and I think Chandler was playing and I hadn't had a day off because Chandler was like, I'm laughing. Lol on there if she did it. But part of the team got plane delayed and got in really late.
I got plane delayed.
Chandler is in the praise and worship ministry along with a lot of them on the east coast. That's our daughter. And when they were going to get.
A plain black, they didn't look like they were going to make it back.
Yeah, they didn't. I said, well, call Pastor J.B. jonathan Baker, our worship leader here on the east coast. I said, tell him you might not make it back and have a four piece band on standby if we have to make it through. I did not want to do that. We're way past that. But you know, we got to do what we got to do. Well, they made it back but it was late and everybody was tired. So channeling. Our daughter texted me, said, since we've got people on standby, do we still need to go in? I text her back, I said, absolutely. Every one of you there, bright and early, wide open, leading those things, smiling passionately in the prayer. Because what I wanted to get up and tell them we would do that conference and then I would go do five services.
Yes.
So we would end the conference. Then we had Saturday night, Sunday morning at 8, 10 and 12.
I feel like, you know, our generation has raised some very weak people. I mean, because our stamina really run. Seriously, I've not had a day off yet.
Right, I know.
And I mean, people are freaking out. They're so tired. I'm tired too, but I still gotta work. I gotta do podcasts, I gotta have meetings, I've got to do X, Y, I have to cook. I mean just, you gotta work. Keep going.
Well, I did think that was funny. And she laughed after I said, absolutely. She takes me back and laughed. She's like, I kind of figured that was what I was gonna get. I'd say the pace is not sustainable. Another thing I would say, Not everybody will make the trip.
Ain't that the truth.
I didn't know that back then. I really didn't know that.
I didn't either. I thought if you loved us, you loved us.
Well, let me say this. The church that I grew up in, they were there when we got there and they were there when we left.
Yeah, same people. Because they were loyal to that church.
Yeah. I don't ever remember people leaving. I don't remember people being mad. I remember people being offended. I remember my daddy having to handle problems. But if you ask me right now, I'll give you a million dollars. Name me five people that left. I don't think I could do it.
And here's the thing about the churches we grew up in. That was our church. It didn't matter if the pastor came or went. We'd have a pastor every four years.
That's our church.
We'd just get a new pastor. But that was our church and we weren't going anywhere.
And whatever you needed to work out, you worked it out. But you know, we came along, we got outside the denomination and we kind of came up in another era. Even though we started before all the guys, now we had another era type church because nobody was planting churches. So we were kind of ahead of our time in that. And I just thought when people come, they stay. That's all I'd known. And this people coming in and you making an investment and they take off and people come in, you pour your life into them and they walk away. I was not ready for that. So I had to learn that, you know, celebrate them when they come, but celebrate them when they leave. And I don't mean you're happy they left, but I mean let it be enter and exit gracefully. Because I had to learn that because I used to. It was wild. I like went up to a funeral, I was like, when I'd lose somebody, I took it so personal.
You did, you did.
Because I did not understand it. Another thing I would 57 year old Ron would tell a 27 year old Ron is there's always, always, always, always, always, always, always two sides to every story. Two sides to every story and usually.
Three and somebody else's interpretation.
I don't know why that part of the Bible never stood out to me. You know, out of the mouth of two or three witnesses, a matter is established. There was a time that somebody that I loved told me something that was My information. And that was my understanding. So I took it as my understanding and went and acted upon it, only to find out that I don't care how much I love them, how good they are. And there's somebody else that had information that changed the whole context of what was going on. And it took me a while to get to the place, well, I'm going to talk to everybody before I make a decision. Because I used to, if I cared about you and I felt your pain, I'd go make a decision. And they're like, well, did you know so? And so. And I'm like, well, that changes everything. And so 57 year old Ron would tell 27 year old Ron, there's always. I don't care if they glow in the dark. They're so holy. There is another side to the story and you can't take. You can't make good decisions off limited information.
Right.
You have to have all the information. Get understanding.
Get understanding.
What's another one I'm thinking about? We did this off the hip, guys. Well, 57 till 27. I'll tell you something that I'm not trying to win brownie points, but it might. I said this before in some context. It might have been a podcast. 27 year old Ron, it was driven into him. Driven into him. And I guess they meant well by so many older people who have been married for many years. You're not always going to feel in love. You're not always going to feel in love. Ron, you need to understand, there's times you just. Y' all don't even want to be around each other and you got to stick it out. And I said this in that podcast. If it's grace and mercy, then Lord have grace. Continue. Grace and mercy. I have never woke up that way, babe. I have never, ever, ever woke up and not been in the room.
Is it because of my awesomeness?
I don't know what it is. I don't know if it's you or Jesus or both of them, but I've been with you 38 years in total. Yeah.
I'm going to say something very serious.
Okay. And I'm not saying that's the norm. I'm saying I've never experienced that.
But I'm going to tell you, even in my worst day, in our troubled times, you and I truly have always honored and respected each other. In our home. We. I mean, you know, I'm not that kind of woman who's like, here, let me serve you your plate. And here, here's Your dinner. And you don't make me, like, take your plate and do all that. But we always prefer. We have always tried to serve each other and prefer each other. And we teach this in the marriage conference. That. That is not take agape love and sit it way over here. That's not loving. People, like the Bible says, love each other. This is true natural feelings kind of love that cultivates feelings in each other.
I get it. I get it. Maybe if there's even a time where you didn't, you know, Because I know you went through some tremendous struggles. And some of those. I walked with you through them. And I get other people telling me this, and I don't diminish how great their marriage is. I have never woke up with no feelings for you.
I know that. But what I'm saying is what we do for one another cultivates the feelings.
Exactly right? It's the honor and the serving one another keeps the feeling active.
It does.
Keeps the feeling alive.
That's what keeps the feeling alive, is when the same thing, the same way you felt when you were dating somebody when you first met and you were dating. And that butterfly feeling, what did you do? You went and you were like, oh, they like my hair like this. I'm gonna wear this. Oh, I think they'll like this perfume. It's the being intentional about doing something to please that person.
If you.
And if you don't keep that 10, 15 years, if you're just like, aw, screw it.
Let me ask you something.
You're not gonna have the feeling.
Why would you not? Why would you? Okay. Somebody for Christmas bought me a kind of cologne I've never had before. There's a brand of it. You know, some of these colognes, they have so many different types of the same brand. It was one of these. I had had one type, but I'd never had this type. Okay. And so I don't wanna say what it is. Cause it was a nice cologne. But anyway, I went up to hug you one morning and you got up, you said, my Lord, man, I love that smell. Okay, Hope. I probably sprayed that on me three times that day before I go to bed. And not just one little minute. I know.
You do.
Why would I not?
I know, but that is intentional. You're just not like, screw. I don't care if she likes it or not. I'm sleepy.
If you tell me you like a certain smell, right? I want to smell that way. So I guess in my mind, Ron, I like that color on you, Ron. That smell oh, my God, I love that smell. Well, if you like red, I'm gonna wear red five times that week. Ron, I like your goatee when you boo it tight. I don't like it when you go back.
All that matters grow it tight.
You say it's intentional. I don't walk away saying, okay, I gotta make sure that I smell like that. I just hope like says, shh.
It's just going the extra mile. You know, it's one of our core values at church, going the extra mile. It's going the extra mile for your spouse. And that keeps the butterflies.
I believe it does keep the feelings alive. So that was my thing. I would say, yes, Ron, it is possible to wear.
So some of y' all need to go spray some cologne on and brush your teeth.
Actually, I should get something that ain't spiritual at all right here. But they say that the greatest impact that a man can have as far as presence on a woman is his smell. As far as the impact when they come together, that they never forget a smell. I don't know how true that is, but I've seen it more than once in some type of statistic. But, you know, here again, I do think it's those things like that. That. Did. I get up every day feeling like the first time I met you. Maybe that's a stretch, but I've never woke up like people. I've had people that downright, you know, some people kind of got us depressed. I know, like, really, like, that's what I got to look forward to. And I'm like, I don't want my marriage to be like that.
It don't have to be. And you can keep it from being that way.
This morning I got in last night, I made that cross country trip. I've done it four times in what, six or seven days, And I was tired. And there was this morning, I mean, two or three things you did for me that, you know, they mean a lot to me. The one affection, the hugs. I'm not talking about sex. I'm just talking about affection. And then, you know, then you go out. It was cold, 20 degrees this morning. Then you got ready to leave. You was all bundled up. I was still in my pajama pants and my shirt, and I go out. You got an electric car? I unplug your car. Get your stuff in the car. I'm waiting till you.
It's going the extra mile.
Yeah. It never was. You didn't think, oh, crap, I gotta go hug him. And I wasn't like, God, I gotta go unplug her. It was. It's what we do because we love each other to get what we have.
Yeah.
Does that make sense, Hope? You know what? I don't see it as being that hard.
It's not.
People make it so hard.
A lot of people are very selfish.
Ron, let me say this one last thing.
You gotta put your wants in.
Let me say this one last thing. Agape. Love is the high bar of God. God is love. God is agape, which is a love without restraint and a love without condition. And here again, it is a very high bar. And I don't diminish it when I preach it. That's a standard. It's not angered, it's not offended. It's amazing kind of love. I don't want to just agape you. I want to filet o you. I want to eros. I want it all. So every form of love in the Bible. And eros is not in the Bible, but it is the word. We get erotic from the Greek. I want all of those to be a part. I don't want to be hanging by the thread of agape all the days of my life.
I don't want to just be in my marriage because I'm in a commitment.
Just because I made a covenant and I put my name on something I told God I would. That's. Ooh, well.
Talking about marriage. Talking about. Let's talk about the marriage conference.
Well, you want to do that? We've already been on here a little half hour.
It's right around the corner.
Guys. Let me. Let me promote it. Hope you back. You back me up. Let me promote it. We are in a generation. It's getting harder to get people to come. The people that come are blown away.
Yeah. Get so much out of it.
But we are in a generation where I'm not sure they place the value on it that they should. When we started these things 20 some odd years ago, and they only get better to me, we would almost. We'd have to cut off the registration now, you know, and it's a big registration.
We didn't have information back then.
Right, right, right.
Readily at our hands now. These young people are like, well, I can watch this on YouTube and I can listen to this.
7 Ways of Effective Communication.
I can sit in my bed. But it's not the same.
It's not the atmosphere that is reproduced. I mean, the atmosphere that is there cannot be reproduced with you watching a YouTube video.
And there's something about you getting up and making an investment there's something about.
You getting up and getting out of your normal.
Yes.
That's why we've never offered it online at home, when the babies are wanting chocolate milk, one of them's got a dirty diaper. And you can't reproduce what we do there, because what we do there, just as much as the information is important, the atmosphere is important, because there's a lot of things that happens there. And it has always amazed me, people that'll spend 10, $20,000 on a wedding, they won't spend a few hundred on a registration.
I mean, can you even do 10, 20 anymore?
That's a cheap one. I'm hearing people spend that on the dress. But anyway, I would just say if you've never done it before, maybe you're young, millennial, or Gen Z, and you're married and you're like, well, man, we're great. Okay, you're still in that butterfly stage. How do you keep the butterflies and how do you sustain them? We got some of that information. I would love for you to come. You can go to any of our websites, you can go to hers. You can go to Ron Carbon, roncarbon.com myredemption cz myredemption cz. And you can get registered, but we would love to see you come. And Monterey, California ain't so bad either. And the Embassy Suites we're at, if you get.
Overlooks the ocean.
Yeah. If you get a higher level, up midway to high level, you got a view of the Pacific Ocean and Monterey Bay. So it's an amazing atmosphere and we would love for you to be there. But so don't. Just place value on getting together, place value on staying together and having a great life, because that's what we're trying to teach and train you to do. We'd love for you to come February 5th through 7th.
Yep.
Okay.
Yeah.
Well, you want to close us out?
Yep. Well, thank you for sharing my birthday today. Thank y' all for listening on my birthday.
57 looks good on you.
Where's my present?
You know, hey, I'm your present. I'm gonna wrap myself up.
I'm your Jesus. Okay. Okay. Happy birthday to me. Well, thank y' all for being with us. This is Ronin. Hope, Unfiltered, real, raw and relevant.
Thank you. We'll see you soon.
