How to Boost Energy with EFT Tapping | Jack Canfield

Jack Canfield teaches EFT tapping, a technique that originated with Dr. Roger Callahan. The method involves tapping nine acupuncture points while repeating phrases, and Canfield claims it can treat phobias, PTSD, and boost energy by working through meridians and neural pathways.

Hi there, I'm Jack Canfield. Today I'd like to talk to you about an intensely powerful tool that can help you quickly get over your largest fears and help achieve all of your goals. It's called tapping. 34 years ago, clinical psychologist Dr. Roger Callahan, the originator of tapping therapy, discovered you could stimulate the instant release of stored emotions like fear and, and trauma and guilt by tapping along meridians in acupressure like fashion, while focusing your mind on the past hurt or current stress, like a phobia, a fear or anxiety. And he called this method thought field Therapy, or TFT. And today, Dr. Callahan's institute trains practicing therapists, healthcare professionals and everyday people in how to use TFT both in clinical settings and at home. Now, others have brought TFT to the masses through things like eft, the Emotional Freedom Technique and meridian Tapping therapy. You can use tapping to free yourself from these stored anxieties, stresses and emotional hurts to better implement positivity and energy into your life by tapping away any limiting beliefs, fears and internal obstacles that arise when you face those obstacles in life. Now, when tapping was first used in the 1970s, tapping theory was based on the energy meridians of acupuncture. It was thought that clearing those energy meridians would clear a disruption in the body's energy system and so remove negative emotions. However, we have a new understanding. Based on recent scientific studies, it has been discovered that the brain does not become fixed by one's early adult years, but rather it can be changed at any age. New neural connections can always be formed. Unfortunately, this can work against us. When we experience a trauma or something that triggers a negative emotion, we create new neural pathways that support retriggering that negative emotion. As an example, if you've had an experience that causes you to believe that people are mean or dangerous, you will look for evidence to support this belief and ignore evidence to the contrary. We also create pathways that support limiting or disempowering beliefs that we may have created in the moment of a trauma. Conditions like phobias and ptsd, Post Traumatic stress syndrome exist because the brain creates a feedback loop that builds and enhances those neural pathways. Some fears, in fact, are so strong that they can actually immobilize you. If you have a full blown phobia such as fear of flying or fear of being in an elevator, it can seriously inhibit your ability to be successful. Fortunately, there's a simple solution to most phobias and by just doing tapping. Now, this process uses a simple but precise pattern of tapping on nine acupuncture points of the body while you simultaneously imagine the object or experience that stimulates your phobic reaction. It acts in much the same way as a virus in a computer program by permanently interrupting that program or that sequence of events that occur in the brain between the initial sighting of the thing you're afraid of and and the physical response that you end up experiencing. Now, many hurts get stored in the mind and even in the body, affecting all your future actions and all your future decisions. For many people in my trainings, getting past their past is difficult, painful, and until the last decade or so, very difficult, particularly if they have experienced violence, trauma, or abuse early in life. Now it's not so difficult because we have tapping. This technique is so powerful. It has been used with genocide victims in Rwanda and Bosnia, for disaster victims in Haiti, and is even being used by trainers of the British special forces in the Congo and with US Soldiers returning with post traumatic stress disorder from the battlefield. Called tapping therapy, it stimulates the body's own ability to release stored pain of any kind. And the results are nothing short of miraculous. Now, for thousands of years, Eastern cultures have focused their methods for healing medical conditions on stimulating energy meridians, or pathways throughout the body. They're like, they're like nerves. They're kind of like a sequence of nerves through the body, but they're not really nerves. They live in the myofascial tissue, and they're just energetic channels. And these energy pathways send electrical impulses throughout your body to keep all the systems working. But in addition to moving and storing energy, it was discovered they also store emotions. Now, some healthcare practitioners even believe that an illness or chronic pain in a specific area of the body is the result of a specific emotional pain stored in that meridian. Now, there are eight main tapping points and one on your body and your head, and one known on your hand called the karate chop spot that we're going to be talking about. Now here's the karate chop spot on your hand. We'll be talking about that. Then. The other eight points are the top of your head, between your eyes, called the eyebrow point, where your two eyebrows meet on the side of your eye, under the eye, under your nose, your chin, your collarbone point, and under the arm. Now, there's single point at the top of the head, but there are two eyebrow points. One at the start of the right eyebrow just above the nose, and the other at the end of the left. Eyebrow tapping was originally taught one sided. You tap with either hand, either side of the body, but most people tap with their Dominant hand. Some people tap with two hands. When they get to here, it doesn't really matter. You can go right eye this time, under the left eye next time. It's very, very forgiving. You have completed a round of tapping when you've tapped on each of the points. Now, when you tap, tap lightly but tap firmly. This isn't massage, so tapping with force isn't really necessary. And if you can't tap a particular point due to an injury, just skip that point. Unlike acupuncture, tapping is very forgiving. When you're tapping, it's common to use both your index finger and the middle finger together, just like this. On your head, you can use all four fingers. When you're under your arm, you can use all four fingers. Tapping here is all four fingers. And basically as long as you even get near the point, it works. So don't worry about being too specific with it. Now, the first part of the tapping protocol is to close your eyes, focus on the fear, the anxiety, the emotion, the pain, or limiting belief that you wish to release, and then determine on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being high, how intense that feeling or belief is in the present moment. The reason we give it a score of 1 to 10 is we're going to tap for a while and then we want to make sure when we compare it later that it's gone down. You ultimately want to get it down to a one or a zero. Now, the basic tapping sequence to eliminate fears and negative beliefs or to neutralize negative events in your life, starts by tapping the karate chop spot on the heel of your hand about ten times, firmly enough to feel it, but not hard enough to bruise your hand. And as you tap your hand, you're going to repeat out loud the belief, the physical pain or the experience of hurt that you're dealing with as you tune into that emotion or belief or the hurt that you're thinking about. You want to say that three times. For example, it could be, even though I'm afraid to ask for a raise, I deeply and completely love and accept myself. Or, even though I believe I don't deserve to be successful, I deeply and completely love and accept myself. Or, even though I have this feeling of pain in my lower back, I deeply and completely love and accept myself. Or, even though I'm dealing with this phobia of getting into a plane, I deeply and completely accept myself. So you do that three times. Now, once you've tapped the karate spot while you repeat that phrase three times, then you can begin the tapping sequence. That I'm going to explain below while continuing to focus on the past hurt, the limiting belief, the emotion, the pain, the source of anxiety, whatever it is. You want to tap about five to seven times at each point and accompany each tapping point with a statement that keeps you focused on the emotion. We call it the summary phrase. Like if you were saying, my fear of asking boss for a raise, you could say, this is my fear of asking for a raise. So we'd start like this. We stop at the top of the head. My fear of asking for a raise. Go to the eyebrow point. My fear of asking for a raise. Outside the eye. My fear of asking for a raise. Underneath the nose. My fear of asking for a raise. And you can start changing things too. My fear that I'll be embarrassed. You go to the chin. I'll be so embarrassed if he says no, I'll be mortified. Collarbone point. I'm afraid to ask for a raise. Under the arm. I'll be so embarrassed. If I ask for a raise, then you want to repeat it. This fear of asking for a raise. This fear of asking for a raise. This fear of asking for a raise. My fear that my boss will say no. My fear that I'll be embarrassed. My fear that I won't get a good answer. My fear of asking for a raise. Now, the exact words you say aren't that important. What is important is that you're continually tuned into the emotion that you're feeling at that time. The fear, the embarrassment, the pain, the trauma, whatever it might be. Now, when you're tapping, you can tap, as I said, under either eye, either side of the body, both sides of the body. Doesn't really matter. Now you want to repeat the sequence and repeat your phrase again and again and again. And then after maybe four or five rounds, stop and close your eyes and tune in. What does it measure? Now? Eventually, you want to get it down to it's a one or it's gone. If it's a four or five, just do it some more. You'd be surprised how fast this can work. I've literally had people start a tapping process and not even get down to their chin. And they started to laugh. And I said, what happened? He said, it's gone. We've had people who are afraid to get in the elevators. Five minutes later, I take them out. They get in an elevator, afraid to go in an airplane, they're in an airplane. I've taken people by the side of a swimming pool who are afraid to get in the water. After four or five rounds of this. We have them in the water so it's very, very powerful. It looks so simple. It looks weird, but I promise you it works. So make sure you try it. So here's your homework to complete after watching this video. Tapping works miraculously, as I said, for minor fears and anxieties as well as serious phobias of all kind, it as well as limiting beliefs. So try it for yourself on one of your fears, one of your limiting beliefs, one of your anxieties and see what it does for you. Now leave a comment below and join the conversation.
