Now, if I could teach you only one thing to help you live a happier and more successful life, it would be this. Your mindset determines your reality. It's been proven time and time again. If you have a negative outlook and believe the world is a cruel and miserable place where everyone and everything is out to get you, you are going to find the world to be a pretty terrible place where nothing ever seems to go your way. And that's what you expect. And so that's what you'll get. That's what you'll experience. If, on the other hand, you believe life is full of joy and full of beauty, and. And if the universe actually supports you in your goals and it wants you to show up as your best self, your life will be much happier and it will be much easier for you to find the resources and the support that you need to achieve your goals. Here's the deal. You get what you expect. And what you expect is entirely based on your mindset. And that's why it's so important to develop an attitude of gratitude. When you focus on appreciating and everything that's good in your life, more good things will come to you because what you focus on grows. And when you're looking for things to be grateful for, you'll notice more and more things in your world that make contributions to your life in some way. You will realize that you are, in fact, surrounded by joy and by beauty, and that the world is a wonderful place. And that realization has a powerful psychological impact on you. Neuroscientists have studied the benefits of practicing an attitude of gratitude. And what they've discovered is that it literally changes the molecular structure of your brain and makes you a happier and healthier person. Now think about that. Changes the molecular structure and the firing order in the wiring of your brain. It's amazing. Now you experience being more peaceful, less reactive, and more resilient when dealing with stressful or challenging situations. It also helps you sleep better and experience lower levels of anxiety and lower levels of depression. So just imagine the impact this has on your life. You show up in the world as a more positive and confident person. You're more fun to be around and are better at cultivating meaningful relationships with people, and you're healthier, and you bring more energy and more enthusiasm to every situation you find yourself in. As a result, you get better results in everything you do. You overcome challenges faster, and you receive more and bigger opportunities to uplevel your life and business. That's the power of gratitude. So the question is, how do you go about developing an attitude of gratitude? Well, here's my first piece of advice. It's to start expressing gratitude every chance you get. So start by expressing gratitude to the people in your life who've made a positive difference in your life. Your family members, teachers, mentors, colleagues, coaches and friends. You can thank them in person if possible, or you can call them and send them a letter or an email or a text. And if those options aren't available to you for whatever reason, you can simply reflect on the positive impact they've had on your life and mentally send them gratitude for it. When you express your gratitude to others, you make their lives better, and that can cause a positive ripple effect that impacts the lives of many others. Next, I want you to start keeping a gratitude journal, and I want you to make it part of your daily practice. Every morning or evening, simply write down all the things you are thankful for that day. Now, these could be things that happened to you, or they could be things that you chose to focus on that day. If you write down everything you're grateful for each day, you'll soon have a long list you can look back on whenever you need to remind yourself of all the blessings that you have to enjoy. I. I also encourage you to go on a daily rampage of gratitude where you take a few minutes to appreciate absolutely everything around you at that moment. It could be the food you have in your refrigerator, the clean air you're breathing, the clothes that are keeping you warm, your health, the fact that you have a computer in your cell phone that allow you to communicate with the world. The windows that are letting the sun shine in while keeping the cold air or the hot air out. Anything and everything you happen to notice. Think about all the positive impact these things have on your life. The work that had to happen for them to come into your life. The people that worked on them and people who did all that and made it possible for you. The people that put down the carpet, that built the door, that built your house, that put in the plumbing. There's so many people and things to be grateful for. Every aspect of everything you notice. Just be grateful for it. And I guarantee you, you'll experience an immediate boost to your mood and energy. And finally, as you practice gratitude and notice the positive effect it has on your life, pay attention to those effects. Notice how it makes you happier and how inside yourself it feels like your energy is vibrating at a higher level. Focus on how wonderful that experience is, and always remember that the quickest way to turn around your mood and change your experience is to practice gratitude and appreciate everything that's good in your life.
