Inner Circle Club: How Having a Wingman or Wingwoman Can Skyrocket Your Business

Jack Canfield and a guest explain why you need a wingman or wingwoman: trusted people who give honest feedback and hold you accountable. The concept comes from military flying, and works like a personal board of directors. Pick people who already know, like, and trust you.
You talk about having a wingman, or we'll say a wing woman in your life. Talk about why that's so important.
Well, if you look at the concept, the concept really comes from the military, and a lead pilot in the Air Force has a wingman on each side to watch their back. For those people who served in Vietnam, when you're in the jungle, you always had a wingman behind you. And the role of a wingman, at least in the jungle, was to identify where the sniper was and if they were going to shoot and if they shot. And their job was to warn you, and if it was too late, you had to jump in front and take a bullet for someone. Well, you know, in many ways, business can reflect what goes on in war, and we all need wingmen or wing women to watch our back. And what are they? They're much like what you talk about, Jack, your accountability groups. And again, they've got to be people who know, like, and trust you and really want you to succeed. I've been very fortunate in my life. I have a dozen really close wingmen and wing women in my life, and I'm convinced that our success and failure is really based on the feedback that we get from our closest wingmen and wing women. What's interesting, Jack, in major corporations, they have this thing called a CEO, and a CEO reports to a group called a board of directors. And so when a CEO gets stuck and they don't know what to do, they pick up the phone and call their board of directors and say, how might I get out of this? You know, most of us don't do that. Most of us feel like we're independent, hustling street rats out there running around. And we don't go out and ask people, say, hey, would you be my wingman? Would you be my wing women? I need someone to help give me clarity as I go through these challenges of business and life. So it's made all the difference in my world. I know you talk about it a lot with your accountability groups, and I'd advise everybody to have your set of wingmen or wing women to help you through whatever it is in life.
Give us what's the 32nd pitch to a potential wing person here?
