Is Selfishness the Key to Happy Relationships?

Jack Canfield interviews relationship author John Gray about what makes relationships work. Gray argues women need to prioritize self-care and stress reduction to attract healthier partners, drawing on ideas from his books Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus and Venus on Fire, Mars on Ice.

Hi, I'm Jack Canfield from the Inner circle club@jackcampfield.com and I just finished interviewing John Gray. I'm sure you know him as the author of Men Are from Mars, Women are from Venus, and a new book you just wrote called Venus on Fire, Mars on Ice, which talks about women being on fire, men being kind of cold and withdrawn a little bit and so forth. And one of the things we talked about was how women have these higher stress levels. And we talked about what a man can do to help lower that. And I asked you the question, well, what if a woman's not in a relationship with a man or the man's out of town for three weeks or whatever? How does she work with that by herself? And you came up with some.
Well, it's a very popular topic with women. Often I'll say how to be happy without a man. And the women of Aurora. Yes. And the real answer is lots of girlfriends. But we'll go into more detail. Don't expect your man to be your girlfriend. And you often have him fill that void when men should be men. And learning how to get the kind of support that men can give and also learning how to provide the support that a woman needs herself in order to lower her stress and to be happy. And the answers to that are quite challenging. If women don't have the understanding of their hormones, for example, the balance in the life means doing things for yourself. Doing things for yourself is often seen by other women as being selfish. But if you don't balance the giving in the workplace with taking time for yourself, your stress levels do go much, much higher. Also, it's learning how a woman's brain works differently so that you can get the right supplements in order to relax the brain so that she's not feeling like, I have so much to do and not enough time. So these are like big questions to find answers to. And when she learns to be happier without a man, that actually makes her sort of more attractive to a man. Ultimately, my message is that a man can't make a woman happy, but a man can make a woman happier. A woman's job is to find the happiness within. And then you'll have a man who will be very happy to step into the role of making you happier.
And we talked about some of the ways you can self nurture yourself and so forth. So if you'd like to hear more about that so you can take better responsibility for yourself and make yourself happy and also then attract more men to make you happier, come to jackcampfield.com, the Inner Circle Club and our interview for the month with John Gray. And I'm sure it'll improve your own self esteem, your own sense of happiness, and ultimately your relationships.
And it'll also jack, answer the age old question that women now have, which is why do I need a man? And in short, the answer is women. You need a man in your life so you don't have to do it all. Because women can do it all. But how can you get a guy to help?
All right, so we'll look forward to seeing you at the Inner circle club@jackcampfield.com.
