Hi, welcome to businessnetworking.com I'm Ivan Meisner. I'm here at Flow Motion Studios in Camarillo. We just did a video with my good friend Jack Canfield. We did a video that's going to show up on jackcanfield.com and the section will be.
It'll be in the Inner Circle Club.
So go to the Inner Circle Club. There's some great videos there with a lot of different people. The video we did today will be up in about a month. So go there, take a look. What did you get today? Anything that you picked up from what I talked about?
Well, you know, normally I would sit down and take copious notes, and I couldn't do that because I was interviewing you. But I'm going to watch this and take the notes because there was so much great information. But I think the thing that stuck out for me was vcp, this idea that when you're networking, you have to first create visibility by showing up, and you need to create credibility by being there and being credible and producing results and letting people know that you deliver and you keep your agreements and you do what you do well. And only then do you go to profitability, where you try to sell them something or take advantage of the relationship in some way. I think that's important because I see so many people and I've been to lots of networking groups. They'll sometimes hire me to speak, and they mostly don't work because people jump too fast to try to get some profitability out of it. So just to be reminded of that again, I think it reminded me of a relationship I had. I met the youngest person ever to be a bank president in America, and he was a CPAE and a CSP at nsa. Now, what does all that mean? He was a certified speaking professional, and I wanted to be one. I was young, and I went to this meeting and he was there, and I thought, oh, my God, Summers White, he's a big deal. And he interviewed me for 30 minutes, almost the whole party, he interviewed me. I walked away thinking, summers White's the coolest guy in the world. I didn't know one thing about him, but to this day, I love that man. And here I am talking about him, talking about him on television.
A good networker has two ears and one mouth.
He had, like, no mouth. I swear to God. No. He did ask great questions, but that was just. I thought of that example when you're talking today, and it reminded me that that's so important in every situation. And I would do anything for summers just like you said.
Nice. Well listen, you said something here that I want to share here on camera. You said that you like to take notes and that is so true. And I want to tell the listeners, the viewers at my blog, one of the things I like about this guy is I've seen him at events, many, many events. He's always in the first row. He wasn't just making that up. He's always in the first row and he's always out there writing down notes and, and there's a lesson in that I think for all of us because you're probably one of the most well read people that I know, very knowledgeable yet you're always out there. You're not in the back, you're not chatting with people. You are fully present and engaged and that's a lot of what this video content is, is to try and get people engaged. So jackcanfield.com go to the inner circle. This is Ivan Meisner, businessnetworking.com.
