Jack Canfield Interviews Ex Gang Member on the Road to Success

Jack Canfield interviews a former gang member turned network marketer about building success through massive action and persistence. The conversation covers daily goal-setting, lead generation tactics like working long hours from Starbucks and booking appointments, and the mindset of failing forward as essential to growth.
And you are a massive action taker. Talk a little about some of the actions you've had to take or taken and not given up in order to achieve where you are right now.
Well, in being your own boss, one of the advantages are you are your own boss. One of the disadvantages are you are your own boss. So upon graduating from college, I made a decision that I was going to go full time in network marketing with no guarantees of a paycheck. So in the taking action part, I would literally, the night before I'd plan out my day and I'd say to myself, okay, great, regardless of what's going on. And also talking about the taking responsibility, you know, not having a car, sometimes literally having to walk or take the bus to a big mall or something where there's a lot of people and I can stay there for eight hours. I would literally set goals to collect 30, 30 to 50 numbers a day, make 15 to 100 calls a day, three to five appointments a day. As a matter of fact, I even brought with me my actual planner from 2007 to 2008, which led me to the regional vice president position and taking massive action. There were days where I would literally stay at a Starbucks for 10 hours and beat that. I was, how do you say, I wasn't mobile. I would schedule all my appointments at one particular location because I couldn't drive around town. And I literally set up shop. It became my least expensive office. I had my cup of coffee there and literally from 10 o' clock in the morning, I wouldn't leave until they closed. Sometimes 10, 15 hour days, doing presentations in the actual parking lot and really just making it happen and creating that momentum. Because I believe if you sit around and wait for things to happen, then you're gonna just be sitting around waiting for things to happen while other people are making it happen. So how to go out there and really do the things necessary to create that success?
Man, you have a very interesting license plate on your car. You want to tell us about that?
Fail Forward. You actually talk about that as well. The principles of failing forward. And then also John C. Maxwell wrote a book called Fail Forward. It's really moving forward every single day. And every day is a learning lesson. And I've learned one of my greatest lessons in life is you can't move forward unless you're willing to fail. And I actually tell a lot of people, a lot of friends, business associates, downline organizations, sign. I said, man, you're such a success. I said, I'm the biggest failure. You'll ever meet because I continue to fail. And I never. I always get out of my comfort zone if I ever get to a position where I'm comfortable at my position, wherever I'm at, I always do things necessary to get uncomfortable. Because I've learned that in that failure process is when you're really growing the most and most people are scared to fail, that they never move forward. And I've learned your greatest lessons usually come through your biggest failures. And also your greatest. Your greatest victories come right after your greatest battles.
Yeah. You know, it's interesting. Picasso, the famous Spanish painter.
Absolutely.
