Jack Canfield walks through setting vision and goals for the new year. He focuses on seven life areas, particularly career and finances, and recommends writing down specific targets like income and net worth. The key: imagine where you want to be in one to three years, then dream without limiting yourself to what seems possible right now.

The second thing we want to look at is vision. So we talk about passion. What is it you want to do? What brings you alive? And now we want to talk about what would your ideal life look like if you were living those passions? And I teach that there are seven areas of life that you want to look at. The first one is job and career. So I'm going to suggest to you that you take some time in the next week or so and set a deadline. If you don't set a deadline and put it on your schedule, it tends not to get done. You'll watch this and you'll get all excited, and then two weeks from now, it'll be like it never happened. So schedule some time. Half a day would be good. Couple of hours. And sit down and ask yourself, if I was sitting here a year from now or three years from now, you can take whatever vision time you want. Ask yourself, what would be happening in terms of job and career. Would I be in the same job? Would I be in a different position in this job, would have I changed careers, would have gone back to school and learned something different? What would I be doing in my ideal job and career? And then write that down. And then the second area is finances. And when you look at finances, you want to look at several areas. What would be my income? What would be my net worth? How much debt would have I reduced over the course of that period of time? What would be my net profits if I'm an entrepreneur? What would be our income if we were a division in a company, what were our revenues, et cetera. And really get really clear about what you want. And when you're doing your ideal vision, don't worry about what's possible. Worry about what it is you want. To.
