Hello and welcome everybody. And we have an inspiring segment for you today on the magic of setting big goals and how to manifest them. And I've had the honor so far in my life to have empowered literally millions of people to live their highest vision and go for their dreams and have now trained and certified more than 2,900 people to teach my proven success methodology in 107 countries around the world. And today I'm here with Meeshon Williams, who happens to be one of our incredible success principles trainers who is using this work to lead her elevated aliveness for emerging Entrepreneurs Entrepreneurs workshop. Now she's also a managing director with Bossay Collection, a luxury international wine company which I want to learn more about because I like wine. And last but not least, Michonne is a mother to a four year old son, Lincoln, and who is also she's featured in an upcoming book called Moms who Boss Up Post Pandemic. I want to hear about that as well too. So first of all, welcome to the show, Michaan.
Thank you so much, Jack. I'm so, so excited to be here. Such a pleasure.
Thank you. Oh, it's great to have you here. I want to just before we get into why we're really here, talk about this book you're part of. That's a different, it's a title. It was almost a tongue twister for me. What does it mean, really?
Gosh, it's so exciting. So I'm a part of a book with 16 other women moms, of course. It's all about women who have taken their side hustle and transformed it into maybe their main hustle. Maybe they've. How do they multitask to create, throw life that they want to live and really bossing up. So taking ownership of your life and what you want to create, contributing to the world in the way that you want to in our stories, really, especially in the time of the pandemic and post pandemic. Right. How are you taking on your life now? How did you, you know, work through the pandemic? How did you not let that stop you? Right. How did you go beyond, you know, a circumstance that sometimes can be debilitating at some points it could be scary. You know, it can be definitely uncertain for most, if not all of us. But how do you work through that to boss up, right? Just to like empower, become the boss.
Of your own life? I love it. It's good. So you tell the story a little bit about how you learn about our work, how you got involved with it. Give us some backstory.
Okay. Well, first of all, of course, I did see you in the Secret, a movie I continue to watch over and over again. I love that. Thank you for that participation and opening us all up to that. After that, a friend of mine introduced me to you through, I think she was at a conference and saw you speaking or shared a video with me from a conference where you were speaking. And that's where I was reminded of you and your work. And I had seen the Success Principles before on a bookshelf or something, and I put it on my list of books to read, but never gotten around to it until I saw this video and you were doing muscle testing and you were having conversations about the principles. I thought, you know what? I gotta check that out. And then I came across it by chance, I think, at my library and downloaded the audio version of the book. And once I did that, I mean, I was hooked, frankly, because I've done a lot of different personal development work before. But this book, the Success Principles, really included for me everything I feel like you need to know to have success in your life. And not just money success, financial success, or business success, really, but just success in your life. It just covered everything to me. So I listened to that. Excuse me. I listened to that book every day when I was in the car, when I went to the gym to work out, when I was taking a walk around my neighborhood. I just absorbed it, you know? So that's how I got introduced.
Wow. How long do you think it took you to listen to that whole audiobook?
You know, I can't tell you specifically, but what I can tell you, Jack, is that it took me less time than I thought I would take. Also, I don't know how many audiobooks have actually even completed, but I did listen to the Success Principles all the way through.
That's cool. Then I think you told me off camera that you actually bought a copy of the hardback book or the paperback book and you read that as well.
That's right after I listened to the audiobook. For me, it really helps me to really get more of the information in the book when I read it. So I also got the hardback cover of the book.
Okay, cool. So there are 67 principles in the revised edition of the book. And which one would you say had the most impact in your life?
This is such a crazy question, because there's so many principles that I love and so many of them, to me, go hand in hand. But one of the principles that really drive me and are essential to me, in terms of having success, is unleashing the power of full setting. That is a big principle, and it's one that I definitely use in my life. I use it in my work. I'm in a business where I have a team that I support and mentor. So this is a principle that I train on and share with my team as well. So unleashing the power of goal setting for me is just powerful. It's magical. I think goals are just magical, you know, because without goals, you just. Where are you going to go? You know what I mean? With goal setting, you get so much clarity and you get so much more momentum. It helps you really get to where you want to go faster. So for me, like, that is something I really rely on and use consistently.
I'm curious, when you listen to the audiobook and you bought the book, what are some of the goals that you set? Do you remember?
Well, one of the biggest goals, I'll share this because it's something that really shifted my life for me and just the trajectory of my career was the goal of managing director in my company. So that was a promotion that I had wanted to receive. It was a promotion I was going for. And I did have it as a goal a few times. And I had missed the mark, frankly. But last year I saw it, the possibility of reaching the that goal again. And this is where I'm saying kind of some of the principles go together for me because that goal of unleash the power of goal setting, along with believe it's possible, is really what had me get all the way to the finish line. So goal setting, there's all the components of it, right? There's the goal that you might think of in your mind and imagine, and then there's the piece about writing that goal down, like that's necessary. So for me, I wrote the goal down. Managing Director May 2020 I wrote that goal. I pasted it above my computer. I looked at it every day when I got up in the morning to make calls, to have conversations. And the funny thing was because as I mentioned before, this was a goal I had had before and I had missed it.
It.
So because of that, I was a little shy about the other piece of goal setting that makes it powerful, which is the sharing, right? I was trying to hold it in. I was trying to keep it a secret. That did not go well. And I learned fast, right? So I was trying to keep it a secret that I had this goal because I was a little scared that if I shared this goal and If I didn't make it again, third time, I would be really, you know, ashamed and embarrassed. And what kind of leader would I be if I missed that mark again? But I had one week left to achieve this goal. And as I kept it inside, I realized how much I just allowed me to kind of, like, dodge it. It allowed me to kind of hide. It allowed me to just not push as hard as I could. And also, I felt alone, frankly, by not sharing my goal. So one day I just decided, I've got to share if I'm going to make this happen the next few days, I've got to share this, you know, and so I shared it with my family, I shared it with my team. I called just a few people up and said, listen, this is what I'm up to. And out of that sharing, I had so much more support. And people who were saying, you got this, you're gonna do it, you know? You know, and they would call and check on me and, how are you doing? And it gave me the momentum, it gave me the power, it gave me the heart to keep going. Even when those moments where I was like, is this what's going to happen here? I don't know. This is going to happen. But then again, I bring myself back to believe it's possible. And I bring myself back to that sign above my desk and I look at it and it says, managing director May 2020. And it said things like, you describe it, you got this, and I would just keep going. And May 30, 2020, I think it was somewhere around 9:48pm I made that goal of promoting to managing director, which was really, really big for me because I think I was only one of five people at the time who had reached that level, which was. Which was huge.
So this is with basically a sales company. You're trying to achieve a rank by having done all of this, reach certain goals, and that's what you wanted to do and you achieved it. Yeah, good for you.
And so I'll say this, so for me, it's. I do like to tell everyone, or I like to share this with everyone in my team. The power and the importance and the magic of goal setting. I think it makes a difference.
Well, goal setting a goal gives you a direction, gives you a place to go. It's like going out to the ocean and never knowing which way to move the tiller because you don't have a goal. And once you make it measurable, which was your measurable, very clear what you had to do to achieve that rank. And I think also I remember my first mentor, W. Clement stone, is worth $600 million when I was, like, 23 or 4. And he said, tell other people what you want to do, and they'll probably help you do it, which was so valuable for me because I think I did that thing, too. It's a secret. I don't want to tell anyone. What if I don't make it? I'll be embarrassed. And. And I've been teaching that. And then there's research now that literally, when you tell other people, you're literally held more accountable by the people you tell. And that actually increases your achievement, I think, by as much as 17%. You know, statistically, in these studies, they've done so. Good for you.
Yeah, I mean, I just. I can't say enough about it. I mean, also, I was training and sharing this with my team, but I realized when it was my turn to really claim my goal and what I wanted, I was holding back. And so one of the things that I do share with my team is, you know, you've got to declare. You need to decide. Declare and share your goal. Right. Deciding to me is that that piece where it says, this is it, you know, there's no going back. This is, you know, where I want to go. Right. And then the declare is, you're putting it out there. You're declaring it to yourself, I will achieve this. And the sharing piece is what we're speaking about now as well. You've got to share it with people in your life so that you hold yourself account to account. They hold you to account, but when they hold you to account, it's also out of love, and it's out of. Out of wanting to support you. So I don't want people to come away and think that it's because they're gonna, you know, you have to do this, or there's some guilt trip that's gonna happen. It's really because people care about you and they want to help. You know, they want to see you succeed.
Right. Well, I really appreciate you coming here and sharing your story with that. I always like to ask everyone if there's anything else you want to say before we bring this to an end. Any other. Any final thoughts?
I think just that I want to say this. I love that quote about shoot for the moon, and if you miss it, you'll land among the stars. I think it was Shel Silverstein backwards.
You want to say it the other way? Oh, shoot for the stars. And if you miss it, you'll at least get to the moon.
That's not how it goes, Jack.
What?
It's not how it goes. It doesn't matter.
That's not how you say it.
No, no, it is, but the stars.
Are farther away than the moon.
But if you shoot, people say, shoot for the moon, right? Like, that's, like, huge. That's, like the biggest out there. But if you miss the moon, you're going to land among the stars.
I see. Because you'll go past the moon, you won't hit that target, but you'll keep going.
That's the target, yeah. Yes. But even if you miss the moon, you're landing on the stars, which is like this beautiful, lovely, magical place. You can't lose. You can't.
Well, you helped me understand this quote more than I've ever understood it before, so good for you. Thank you for that. You'll be in space. You'll be moving toward the right.
You'll just be in that special place.
So. Yeah. Well, again, thank you very much for joining us. I appreciate it.
Thank you. Thank you so much.
All right, good on you. All right, well, now that you've learned a little bit about our wonderful trainer, Michonne, and I'd like to learn a little bit more about you. So I want to hear about your favorite success principle and why it's your favorite. And I'd love it if you could record a short video explaining which one of the success principles has had the most impact on you or your life and why. And then just post the video on your Instagram or Twitter page or your Facebook page using the hashtag favorite success principle so we can find your video and feature it on one of my channels. I love seeing your videos, so keep posting. And if you found this video helpful, please make sure you like it and share it with a friend who may need it. And I want to thank you one more time for tuning in today and watching. And remember, goal setting is a very important tool. As Michaan said, one of many. It's a system, it's part of it, but it's really fundamental. So take a moment today and ask yourself, do I know what my goals are for the rest of this year? And if not, take some time to write them down or review the goals you've already set and make sure you're focusing on them. So do that little bit of work and we'll see here next week and we'll share another success principle with you so you can take your life to the next level. And finally, if you found this video helpful. Please make sure you like it and subscribe to this channel for more videos like this one. And so thanks again for watching. And remember, nothing in your life will change until you do.
