Chapters
Hi, this is Jack Canfield. And today I want to reveal something about myself that you may not realize. And that will hopefully prove to you that it's never too late to create the wealth you desire and even become a millionaire, if that's something you want for yourself. The truth that most people don't know about me is that the first time I earned a check for a million dollars was when I was 53 years old. It took me decades to achieve that goal. In fact, if you consider that I graduated from Harvard University when I was 24, it took me another 27 years to amass the knowledge, the connections, the experience required to generate that much money. Slow and steady won the game for me, and it can win the game for you, too, no matter where you're currently at in your life right now. And by taking consistent, small actions toward your goals, you can achieve your financial dreams and experience the freedom and abundance that you desire. And the first step in doing so is simply to develop what we call a millionaire mindset and believe that it is possible. As my mentor, Napoleon Hill famously once said, whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve. You have to be able to imagine it and you have to believe it is possible. And how do you cultivate this kind of belief, especially if you're battling years of self doubt? Well, the answer is deceptively simple. You simply choose to believe. That's the thing about belief. It's a choice. You see, you already choose to believe the things that you think are real or true. And that means you can make a different choice and consciously decide to believe something different. But in order for it to work, you have to make that choice over and over and over again. It has to become a habit for you. So every time a thought comes into your head, it says, I can't do it or I'm not good enough. You have to consciously let that thought go and choose to believe, I can do it, I am good enough instead. But belief in yourself is only part of it. You also have to be able to clearly visualize your financial goals and keep them top of mind so that you're able to keep moving toward them even when your life or the economy is in a chaotic state. So as you work on cultivating your belief in yourself, I also encourage you to get really clear on what being a millionaire or achieving wealth looks like for you. Is it financial security that you long for? Is it the freedom from money stress? Or is it the ability to do whatever you want whenever you want? Is it the ability to travel or the ability to support worthy causes? Is it having a nice house and a beautiful view? Or the prestige and increased power and impact that that wealth can bring you? Or maybe it's all. Or maybe it's none of these things. Only you can decide what your vision of financial abundance looks like for you, and I encourage you to spend some time doing that. Get really clear on how much money you want to have in your life, the exact annual salary or net profit from your business, your total net worth, the value of your portfolio of investments and your investment income. And how much do you want to have when you retire? I encourage you to write that down in great detail and really see that vision as you write it down. You may also want to create a vision board that has images and power words that represent the kind of life you want to create. And then I encourage you to put that vision board or the detailed description of your vision somewhere you can see it or read it every day. So you keep that goal you're working on top of mind even when the life gets chaotic. Now, another way to cultivate a millionaire mindset and keep your financial goal top of mind is through the use of daily affirmations. Daily affirmations, as most of you probably know, are short and powerful statements written in the present tense that affirm the presence of the reality that you want to create for yourself. And when you write them down and when you repeat them either out loud or silent to yourself every day, you bombard your subconscious with the thoughts, the images and the feelings you would be experiencing if your goal was already complete. I believe affirmations can sound like this. I'm so happy and grateful that I live in a 4,000 square foot oceanfront home on Kaanapali beach in Maui. Or I'm so happy and grateful that I'm effortless depositing $10,000 a month into my bank account. Now, when you use affirmations to visualize your goals as already complete, you keep yourself in a heightened state of gratitude and joy that is required to maintain a vibrational match to what you want, thereby drawing it into your life through the law of attraction. So to help you develop a millionaire mindset and shift your comfort zone, I want you to write several affirmations that express your desired income and lifestyle, such as, I'm so happy and grateful that I Now have a $200,000 year income or I'm so happy and grateful that I'm now spending my days traveling the world solving problems through impact investing. Or I'm so happy and grateful that I fully funded our kids college education expenses and have it secured in a safe 529 plan. Next, I want you to take a few minutes twice a day when you first wake up and right before you go to bed, repeating each affirmation and then closing your eyes after each one and taking a moment to visualize it as it has already come true. Mentally fill in all the details of where you would be, who else is there, what is being said? But most important, try to experience the emotions you'd be feeling if you already achieved it. Would you feel joyful, happy, proud, powerful, relief, generous, or something else? And the more you feel these emotions as you read your affirmations and visualize what you want, the more powerfully your subconscious will work towards creating that reality that will bring more of those emotions into your life as well. You'll feel happier, more productive and more generous and more relief and all of that. Now finally, my last tip for you is to act as if and the best way to become a millionaire is to act as if you already are one. Now that doesn't mean to irresponsibly go out and spend money you don't have as if you were a millionaire. It means paying attention to your money like a millionaire would. It means staying on top of your bank accounts and knowing exactly what money is going in and out of it. It means talking to a financial planner and getting expert advice on how to grow and save and invest your money. It means living in a state of gratitude and abundance no matter what your bank account looks like. And it means taking the kind of strategic risk a millionaire would take in order to cultivate new streams of income and create the kind of wealth you dream of achieving and and the very first step on your journey is simply to get started and believe it is possible for you. Now here is your millionaire mindset homework to complete after watching this video. Pull out your checkbook and write a check payable to yourself for the amount of money you want to be making within the next year. Sign and date the check and place it somewhere where you'll see it every day and use it as a daily reminder of where you want to be financially and and then do whatever work is necessary to reach that goal. Finally, I would love it if you could leave a comment below and share one thing you're going to do to ensure you reach the financial goal that you've set for yourself within the next year. There's so much power in making your intentions public. It increases your sense of accountability and your determination to make those words, you write a reality.
