Hi. I want to talk to you about this month's challenge. If you joined us last month, you know what we're doing. If not, and you're just joining us for the first time each month we're taking an area of our life and looking to improve it, to make more intentional choices, to have more fun, more joy, more fulfillment, more health, more wealth, more abundance, more relationship fulfillment, all of those things. So this month we're going to focus on the topic of self care. Many of us are so busy taking care of other people. We're so busy working on our work, our projects, our ability to make a living and so forth that we forget to take time for ourselves. And self love and self nurturing and self care is absolutely critical to your joy and to your fulfillment and also ultimately to your longevity. And so I'm going to share with you some ideas of things you could focus on this month. And if you remember, we want you to do one of these things every single day so that at the end of the month you 30 or 31 days, whatever it is, you have X'd out on your calendar without a break, making sure that you did each thing. So some of the ideas for this month are I want you to make. Here's the thing. Most people are not getting enough sleep. We are living in a sleep deprived culture. In fact, one of my friends literally fell asleep on the stage and just fainted because she was only getting four and five hours of sleep a night. She actually wrote a book about it. The point being that we have to get more sleep. So maybe you add an hour to sleep, you go to bed an hour earlier, you get up an hour later. That would be something to do for you. Another possibility would be drink more water. I talked about this last month, but the idea that water is critical to your health both in terms of flushing, in terms of the cellular good, nutrients coming in, the bad stuff going out and so forth, detoxing and all of that. Diet and nutrition, you know, really focus on. Maybe there's something you need to eliminate from your diet, like sugar or like, you know, maybe you want to moderate how much meat you're having or cut out alcohol altogether. Another possibility is add nutrients and supplements to your, to your diet. You know, vitamins and minerals and herbs. You can go online and find out what are the normal common things that most people need. Most of us are deficient in vitamin D. Most of us are not getting enough vitamin E. I take about 41 pills every morning. I've been researching this ever since I was in my 20s, I'm 75. Most people say I look like I'm in my early 60s. And part of that is result of all the nutrients I take in to make sure I'm having a really good supply of what my body needs to be healthy. Meditation. What if you were to meditate? Even if it's just for three or four or five minutes every morning, 20 minutes is what I recommend. A lot of people think if you're going to meditate, you've got to meditate all day long, like a monk in a monastery. Or two hours. We don't have that kind of time. But if you do 20 minutes a day, every day, you'd be surprised how much better your days will go, how much more relaxed you'll be, and also how much more creative you'll be. You'll be making better choices. Let's say cut out alcohol or recreational drugs for a month. Just experiment with that, see what happens. I did that and it really made a huge, huge, huge difference in my life. I still occasionally will have a glass of wine, but way different. I used to be having a glass of wine every night and I would wake up a little groggy every day. Because we know that alcohol stays in your body for about 36 hours. It might be as simple as flossing your teeth every day. You might have heard me say, my dentist told me once, you don't have to floss all your teeth, just the ones you want to keep. And so that might be a new habit you have. Or rinsing your mouth out with hydrogen peroxide, which kills all the bacteria in your mouth before, after you brush your teeth. Be another thing. But have you ever had a colonic? It's a good thing to go and help cleanse out the colon and things like that. Be something you could add to your monthly behavior. Talked about intermittent fasting last month to give yourself time for your body to detox essential oils. You know, you can go to a company like Doterra or Young Living and find out all about these essential oils that actually bring a certain level of vibration and healing into your life. I'm not trying to try to go into that, but my wife and I have been using those for a while. They don't keep mosquitoes away. And you see my. I've got a little bug flying around my ear here. You know, maybe you need to get your teeth cleaned. You haven't been to the dentist for a while, so you might want to do that or get a checkup with your doctor or skin doctor One of the things I recommend is to make a list of 20 things you love to do. And I'm going to read you my list in just a second. But once you've made that list, one of the things you could do is just every day do one thing from that list and that will bring you more joy because these are things you love to do. So just to give you a quick sense of my own, play my guitar is one of the things on my list. Watch movies I just saw. If you haven't seen Rocketman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Ford and Ferrari, there's some amazing movies out there that are really exciting to see. Sit on my swing I have a swing my wife and I sit on at night. We watch the sunset go down. So just being together with her, maybe taking a walk, but sitting on a swing, watching TED or TEDx talks, working out, listening to music, got a good sound system, playing pool, talking with my grandson, preparing a gourmet meal, getting a massage, making love, walking on the beach. We have a fire pit on my property and I love just get friends around that at night. There's something very primal about sitting around a fire and talking. Going to museum or an art gallery. I love to do that. Dancing, watching a good TV series like Downton Abbey or Morning show or the Crown, going out to dinner with friends, meditating, doing yoga and reading a good book. And so those are all kinds of things that I love to do. And every day I make sure I do one of those. So if you have that list of 20 things I love to do, the guy that taught me that, he called it the antidepression list. Anytime you're feeling down, you just look at your list of 20 things to do. Then you go and do it one of those things. And it gets you out of feeling down. Another thing you might want to do is what I call the hour of power. Every morning you do 20 minutes of reading, 20 minutes of meditation, 20 minutes of physical exercise. Getting a massage could be on your list. And then just do one thing a day. And again, remember what I talked about, the Seinfeld technique? Exit off every day. Make sure you don't miss a day. If you get to the end of the day and you haven't done one, pick one of the easy ones and make sure you spend a few minutes doing it. You'll be so happy you did so. I would encourage you, as I always do. You'll notice there's comment area below. Write down what is your commitment? What are you willing to commit to doing for the next 30 days to improve the quality of your life so you can be happier, healthier, wealthier and wiser. Hey, thanks for watching today.
