When it comes to portfolio making, people really wonder how to exactly do and how I can exactly become so creative in order to make a creative portfolio. In design field, showcasing portfolio is one of the important aspect. Right, so this particular podcast is going to give you 15 steps how we can really hurrying slowly. The term is hurrying slowly to become more creative in order to make an excellent portfolio. Okay, so with this we'll dive into the topic, guys. So the secret of making portfolio comes with a process. It's not like you're becoming emotional and then you start something and then you complete it. No, it doesn't work that way. It needs to be structured in a proper way then and only you can showcase whatever you got properly. So if you have a notes, please take it down because I'm going to be telling you 15 steps you need to follow in that same sequence. If you're not following in that sequence, what happens is if you do pizza with a different order, but you're adding the same ingredients, whether you will get a pizza, you don't get it right. So the order and sequence is very important. Okay, so the step one is defining your purpose and order and sorry, the audience. Right? So what kind of an audience you're going to send? Are you going to send for recruiters? Are you going to send for your business owners, investors pitch or whatever? So why you're having the portfolio on first place, that purpose is very important and clearly defining an audience. Second is choose a platform through which you wanted to transmit. People sometimes build websites, people sometimes build behance profile, dribble profile. That's totally fine with whatever platform you want. You can even convert a PDF file inside it. That's totally fine. Step two, the step three is have a domain name if you're building a personal brand or if you want, if you're building a personal creative portfolio, it is good to have a domain name so that people will be able to search you properly so that you will get maximum results in online searches. Right? And the fourth important thing is you need to have a section called about me which is about you. Right? So you need to understand people get connected with you by your personal story, with their emotional connect, not because of your projects. That is secondary. I would say the primary connect what people get you is from your story, from who you are, from what kind of a person you are. So showcase your about section in a very creative, careful and a very honest way. A lot of people just put fancier stocks. That's not correct. You have to project yourself ideally naturally, normally, right? So remember about section is very important. And the fifth is organize your work and categorize it properly. Let's say if you are a designer, so you might have some graphic design work, you might have some product design work, you might have some research work. So categorize it and organize your work well when you're showcasing your portfolio. See guys, this will show you that you are a really creative guy. If you put randomly stops here and there, what happens is you aren't able to communicate even what you're trying to say. What's the point of having a skill set, right? So that is the fifth step. The sixth one is having a high definition quality images and showcasing them. See the thing is, if you have proper HD quality images and description for the kind of projects, what you had and the successes, what you had in the project and the failure and the process, everything, whatever you have in the in the description of the project, this impresses the people and attracts more likes and views for your particular portfolio. This is another sixth step. The seventh step is process. Right? You need to show the process very carefully to your customers. See, nobody cares about output. If you are a student particularly process is damn important rather than showing your outcomes directly. So a lot of times people really tend to find only put screens and final out, right? They don't worry about the process, they don't worry about to show their dirty work or the hands on work or the or the thing what they did in real time field. So if you're not able to show the process, people will not be able to comprehend with what kind of a skill set you have in order to solve their process. Right? See, if you're hiring a mate for your home, if you're hiring somebody for your thing, you will ask what did they do exactly in their earlier work, right? You will not ask, okay, 15 years of experience. Okay, join Nobody cares. People understand what did you really do? Okay, you are good in cleaning the utensils. Okay, you are good in cleaning the house. Okay, you are good in cooking this stuff. So what is your favorite you cook best? You cook biryani. Okay, good, that's fine. So something like that process or this details is really important to understand it. And the eighth important element is you need to highlight your skills and services. What you got. You can highlight skills in two ways. One is soft skills, one is hard skills. You can project both to make other people understand what you're really capable of. Okay. And the ninth element is showing some testimonies and references. See, ask for your faculties or your company Boss or your best senior or mentor to give you a proper referrals for you from the industry or from the design school so that you can add it to your website. You can add it in your profile. See guys, when somebody trusts you and give you a bit, a kind of a recommendation, other people automatically trusts you. Trust is a big currency, you know, more than money and anything. So trust is an important factor. If you're able to create the trust through your websites, chances are people will connect with you, people will trust you fast. People hire people because of trust. That's a very important thing. Technical skills and other things, things could be even learned while the process goes, right? So the 10th important factor is you need to give your contact and call to action buttons very easily. People should be able to email you, or phone you, or even message you. So that clarity should be there. Because sometimes people lose the interest because they don't find the exact method to contact you. Right? Many times a lot of people miss out because the call to action is properly not designed. Call to action is making the customer do some action by going through all your work. If you're not able to do that, you will be utter failure. Okay, so the 11th one is you need to have a responsive design. See guys, nowadays 60 percentage is mobile traffic. When you're building a website, it should be more responsive for the mobile as well, right? You should have that clarity in what kind of a device your customer is going to see and how it can have an impact when they are viewing it. The 13th important thing is promote your website and whatever portfolio you have through your network networks, through your emails, through some promotional messages, etc so that you will reach lot many people. Try pitching to different studios, send to your community people, send to your other network people, ask for feedback and then you can able to completely get a greater promotion out of it. Okay? And please make sure you regularly update your portfolio. Remove the outdated stuffs, make sure that is in trend, staying up to date. That's the most important thing. Because people stop making portfolio after the college is completed. Portfolio is a process, you cannot stop it anywhere. Right? And also the 14th important thing is SEO optimization. See guys, when you're building a website in webflow or wix or whatever, it'll ask you for some SEO words. Make sure your search engine optimization, SEO, the kind of design skills, the kind of terminologies should be highlighted first. See, a lot of big industries have a screening process of going through your website. Going through your website or your mobile app, sorry, the website or your PDF portfolio or your resume through automated machine process. That machine will only scan through the important keywords and it will shortlist some candidates for them. I've heard in Robert Bosch company in Germany when I was there in Hanover Germany. So more than 10,000 I think applications have come and thousand people were sorted shortlisted. So how that kind of a work can be done in few days, it's because of the machine. So machine will be able to clearly optimize and find out the keywords what people need. So search engine optimization and putting your keywords in your website and your skill set is very important in order to get more traction, right? And the last but not the least is getting feedback. Get feedback from your choose and friends. Okay, don't ask people randomly. People do a lot of mistakes. They make a wonderful portfolio. They get nasty feedback from random guys who don't even know what is portfolio and you end up doing wrong mistakes. You'll ask some one or two years of designers experience and then you will make that ask at least 15 years of experience. 10 years of experience, big designers. Okay. Most probably you can ask your mentor and I review my students portfolio step by step each one by one. I don't see in bulk because portfolio is a reflection of you and your behavior. I can able to see whether you're creative or not. So through your portfolio one glance itself. I don't need to even go through 30 minutes of time. So getting that feedback and constructive feedback and improving is a 15th important step. Okay, So I hope you would have taken notes to understand it. Let me quickly recap it. Finding first is finding the purpose and audience. Second is choosing a platform to build it. Third is having your own domain name to create your brand. Fourth is writing about you in about me section. Fifth is organizing and categorizing and segmentation your work in terms of design field. 6th is having HD images and description showcasing your challenges and success what you did in the process in the project. The seventh is showing your process and showing your real dirty works. Eight is highlight the skills and services. Ninth is showing some testimonies and referrals so that you can build some trust through post or videos or messages. And the 10th is have the contact and clear to action in a very clear precise way. And 11th is to build a responsive website which can be viewed in even mobile and different devices. Also 12th is regular updated remove the outdated content. And 13th is promote your works through emails and networks and all these things. 14th is search engine optimization. And 15th is get feedback.
