I'm going to tell you in this podcast how you can really learn to become a mindful designer and how it improves your creativity and productivity in order to live a very fulfilled life by creating meaningful products and services. I'm going to give you practical steps and why it is very vital for a designer to learn it. Jump into this podcast. Let's learn. You might have heard from outside or when you're studying online or maybe going through YouTube, Instagram, Facebook. Look, this word mindfulness is very prominent, right? So how do you really connect with your creative field? I'm going to give you first why it is very important, okay? Because lot of times we know that maybe some people get a clarity why it is important for a creativity, why it is important for creative people and how it improves their value system in order to bring a great concept. But let me give you guys 360 degree mindfulness is the holistic approach that will give you all aspects of your life in consideration, okay? It's not just a specific meditation session or something. Guys, please don't have this misconception. It mainly embodies your mindfulness in personal life, your professional life and the whole design process itself. If you are a creative designer, if you wanted to become a creative designer, in fact, that also includes, okay, because the moment when you decide that you wanted to learn a skill in design and go ahead exactly, this is going to be suitable for you and then your value system in your life changes. Let me tell you one more thing very clearly, guys, okay? A lot of people don't understand this, but I don't know, some people understand it quickly. Some people get it very late after going through a lot of failures in their life. Being a designer, whatever is your true value, whatever is your honest reason why you wanted to become a designer is the real quality of you adding value to the company. It's the real quality of you getting how much of salary you wanted to earn. It is a real quality of you which determines your height of success in design. It determines your quality in how you wanted to really structure your life because it internalizes in you when you bring a concept, when you bring a design, when you bring an idea. It's not random. Guys, don't think that it's just you have chosen some field and then you're learning. No, there are a lot of field, right? There are much easier field also compared to design. There are much difficult field also compared to design. So you have chosen it for some reason. So that some reason is I'm deciphering you, okay? So you wanted to really solve some problem or you wanted to really nurture something, or you wanted to really add a value here. That's why you're here. So the moment when you determine that very clearly why you wanted to become a designer, because I always tell in my podcast, without this you cannot learn A, B, C, D InDesign. Okay, if you're not knowing why, please go and find out that there is a method to do it. I particularly teach in my program one week, like let's say 1.5 hours into seven, how much so that much of time. I teach my students approximately 10.5 hours. I teach my students how to really set a proper goal and find out why you wanted to become a designer. I take a week to understand because if you're not doing this properly, you regret later. That is why mindfulness is very important for a designer. To really focus on your clear and what is your intention of being a designer? And how to focus your mind. Okay, see guys, there are huge benefits. Particularly it improves your creativity. The moment when you are very mindful, the moment when your life is getting touched because of this, right? So you're not going for a job and doing a job and completing a project and then you're doing a freelancing and leaving. The moment when you are designing something, your whole heart and soul is going into it. You will definitely feel so happy when you contribute and solve a problem. It's a very, very special trait of a designer. When you're solving a problem or when you're working in a creative field, you feel wonderful, you feel exorbitantly great. You really tend to have more self esteem than anybody working in any field because design has that unique value proposition and I've tasted that because I've been in a different fields and that's why I'm telling you very clearly, that's a very one good unique thing which will come to you out of you if you naturally do it. See guys, if you're not getting that feel, probably you're doing design as just a profession. You're not internalizing it much. You will be like a machine. AI can do much better than you. ChatGPT can give better concepts than you. Please be sure and please be very careful. You'll be definitely thrown away from the industry no time soon. Okay, maybe in six months to one year or max two years. Please get awareness, please get consciousness. I don't think AI is going to get consciousness or it's going to get empowered more than human intelligence. Okay, so it's Very, very vital to understand that particular reason. Because whatever you think internally is going to come outside you. That is why understanding this mindfulness is very important. The second important thing is it aligns your value. Through mindfulness, designers can align their work with their core value. Creating core products and services that resonates with your authenticity and purpose. See, every time it points to you, you, you, why you wanted to become a designer. What is your real value? What is your biggest interest? When you're really happy, when you're finding that reason, that shows in your design, guys, that shows in your concept. If you do one project with that mindset, end to end, that becomes an epic project in your career. People will love and take you for that. People will give you promotions for that. People will know and respect you for that. See, I'm famous in my industry not because of too much of projects. It's because of one good project, one good behavior, one good true moment which people found out he is who is. That's why we respect Jagdish. Same I value for the other designers also. So it's very vital to understand that. See, I got one national award for a medical product design which I designed a UI UX in very short a span of time where I worked with designers, developers, engineers to testing people to deliver that particular product. Okay, the learning what I had is very immense. Implementation is very quick. As a team, we got that award. It's not only me. So Phoenix Medical System was the company where I worked on. So I was really happy. So when I tell this in the moment, in an interview or to somebody, the respect really goes high. If you put heart and soul to your any one good project, you will definitely have that heights reached, guys. Okay, Jagdish, you're saying mindfulness is very important and you're saying it's really, really damn. So how do I know it? Let me tell you guys, I'll prove you, okay? According to a study published in Journal of Creative Behavior, regular mindfulness practice is very positive. It positively improves your creativity and it is correlated with increased convergent and divergent thinking, a very key component of a creativity. In fact, I would say very specifically divergent thinking because if you wanted to really connect dots and make it creative, you need divergent thinking. A meta analysis published in Journal of Management found that mindfulness interventions in the workplace are associated with increased job satisfaction and overall well being. Neuroscientific studies shows that center for Mindfulness at University of Massachusetts have shown changes in brain regions associated with attention and creativity after mindfulness Training it is not a joke or it's not a random topic which we are talking about guys. It's very, very important. Okay Jagdish, how to really improve that? Let me give you very very simple steps guys. Okay? So the very first step is definitely you can engage in some meditation practices. Okay? You don't have to take a very stretched meditations and all. If you do it, that would be great. I would say focus on your breath and have some guided meditation and mindfulness practice. There are a lot of videos in YouTube. I would suggest Vipassana. 10 minutes technique is good. 30 minutes technique is good. You can do it on weekend. I'll paste you the link in this description. You can do that. There is a 10 day intensive Vipassana also you can go which one of my friends suggested. It's really good. Definitely I'm going in next one or two months to really experience that. But you can definitely try it out guys. It can enhance your concentration and clarity. See if you do it consistently, it helps you to reflect on your own values and how to align them. First thing, okay, regularly do it. Set it as a habit. Find an accountability partner properly learn from a coach or a mentor or somebody who can teach you this and then start doing it. Second important thing is professional mindfulness practice. See when you make a mindful communication, you have to make it very clear and attentive. See whenever you are communicating through email, talking with your co designers, working people or your manager CEO, make sure you are very clearly communicating and you are very attentive in that particular communication with your design team automatically this will improve. Guys. See you have to consciously take this practice your one hand you are practicing mindfulness also every single day. Second is you are consciously writing the communication to your internal teams or your external teams. Third is you need to set that intention guys. So designers can set a mindful intentions be before starting up a project. Aligning their work with their value. So determine what's your biggest value. Like let's say if you find I wanted to make a real social change in this community, lot of people are poor. I want to solve this problem through my design skills. If that's, that's your real value. Let's say okay, example I'm giving, it could be anything but I'm just giving you. So whatever projects you're picking, like let's say if you're designing a joystick for a game, if that really matches with your value system or not, you need to check it definitely it's not going to match with Your value system, right? Your value system is very different. You want to solve the problem of a poor, not a problem of some high tech guy who wants to enjoy the gaming through joystick, right? So see, now you will choose very clearly which project to work on, which industries to choose on, with job role description which you can apply. And even if you get select selected, which you wanted to go forward. See, so much of clarity you are getting now because you found what's your real value, right? That is the pro. That is the point of setting your intentions, aligning with your true value. If somebody is saying, hey, we are making an ngo, we are from, we are calling from an ngo. We wanted to really solve a problem of empowerment in rural women's, okay? Through developing them some games, through developing them some puzzles. Can you design games and puzzles for that people? Definitely. You'll say yes without even thinking a second thought. So that's very important, guys. Okay? The fourth important thing is design process integration. See, you need to be very, very mindful observation guy, okay? So every time you need to observe the world around you with a curiosity, gaining inspirations every day, every experiences, make sure you integrate it with your design process. You have to do it mindfully, okay? Because integration, if you're not doing, then your mindfulness practice will be in a separate way. Your creativity and your design process will be in a separate way. Like let's say if you're, if you're thinking about a particular. Let's say if there is a biscuit packet in front of you, like a cream biscuit or something, and if you're seeing that label of that cream biscuit, because right now in front of me there is a. Okay, so I'm just thinking, so in this particular biscuit packet, I would say this particular biscuit has a color of black and white, which really gives me a feeling of what you call taste, which really gives me a feeling of taste and flavor. So that the moment when I eat it, it will be really tasteful. So by creating this visual, how can I put a very healthy product inside this particular package? People will not psychologically feel it, but they will get the health benefit. See how I integrated my design process into my divergent creative thinking. If you are very mindful, let's say if your value is towards determining healthy, conscious products and services for the people, then you're automatically, your trigger will be like this to design this product. So why don't you do it? Take a design process, do some research, do some ideation, generate some concept, brainstorm, prototype, test it Iterate it. You will definitely get a good project done in a day or two. See by looking at it very closely, you will, you will observe lot more things guys. You will iterate that process and then you will get a lot of understanding. So let me repeat you guys. The first is you can practice regular meditation focusing on your breath. You can do vipassana 10 minutes technique or you can do whatever, it enhances your creativity, clarity. Second is you will have to mindfully communicate when you're communicating through your email, talking to your colleagues, etc, internal and external communication. Third is setting your intention very clear whether it's aligning with your value system or not. Fourth is you need to integrate your design process with a lot of curiosity and inspiration every single day. Practice it. So if you wanted an accountability for doing this, you can hop on to my mentorship program. You can send that email dfc designforchangemail.com in this description. I'll be happy to help you out guys, okay? Because definitely you won't be able to do it alone. You won't believe every single class in my program I teach them five minutes of meditation, how to really focus. Because the moment when they focus and then they ideate, they become a lot of great value adder. Particularly before starting ideation, I help them to focus for 5, 10 minutes and then start ideation session. See guys, that's the power of mindfulness. So don't take it lightly. Follow these four steps and then you'll see lot of clarity coming in your design value. I hope you like this podcast. Thank you so much guys. Take care. All the best. If you are finding this as a valuable piece of information, please share with your colleague designers and give me best start rating in Apple and Spotify. Okay.
