Practicing gratitude is very, very vital to improve and stimulate your creativity. Hey Jagdish, is it really true? I was also asking the same question when I learned it from this. So it is very vital to understand, being a very creative designer, how to practice this gratitude, why it is very important, what are the science backing and what are the statistics around it. If you are someone who is looking for that, this podcast is going to address you. Because this is very, very vital, which lot of people are not talking about. Let's take a lot of notes, jump into this podcast so we understand that practicing gratitude is very important and it's really good. You might have heard somewhere and you might have read somewhere, but have you really internalized why it is so vital? Right. The there are five aspects which I'm going to be telling you which is properly backed up with science, why it is important to practice gratitude. First of all, what is gratitude? Jagdish, in my earlier podcast I've told you about building the habit of gratitude, but I wanted to make a very deep podcast in it because you need to get this in a very nutshell science guide. It's not a very deep subject because hundreds and thousands of scientists have researched this particular topic for years. It's a very spiritual topic people call, but I'm seeing it in a very scientific way. Let me tell you guys, if you are, if you are someone who doesn't know what is gratitude. It's like having a thankfulness nature for whatever you got is actually being gratitude. Like let's say if you are getting a good job, like let's say if you're getting a good family, let's say if you're getting a good house built. Like let's say if you're getting a very environment to make yourself very successful, you need to be thankful for that, right? So having whatever you have and thanking is actually becoming mindset of a gratitude. Sometimes people don't do this because they are always wanting to get more, craving more and they are not happy with whatever they have. They are not contented properly. Right? Those people, you know what they'll be worrying for their entire life, they don't know what is gratitude and they will suffer for their entire life. And lot of times I was also like this guys. It's not like I've learned it for years ago and then I am a master of it. No, it's a very new subject for me and I'm practicing that and consciously. Many times I tried, but many times I also miss it. So I also wanted to Understand while collecting this information, I came to know a lot many things about this gratitude. In fact, I've listened to one of the guy, his name is Rabbi Daniel Lapin. He talks a lot of things about this gratitude. He says the duality, nature, how the brain works. And Dr. John Demartini who is a human psychology behavior expert, he has read over 45,000 books. He talks about this gratitude in a deeper way. So I really got inspired from their trainings and podcast and other materials what they've shared. And I was very curious why it is important. Let me tell you guys the very first advantage of improving your gratitude, it improves your creativity. It boosts your creativity to next level. A study published in Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity and Arts found that participants who practiced gratitude for two weeks, you know what? They displayed a huge increased creativity problem solving abilities compared to a normal group. It's a real research done. So it's not a Baba topic or a spiritual topic what I'm talking about. It's a scientifically backed topic properly. Even lot of what you call spiritual people, they back with the proper data and stat please believe that. Okay then only you will be guided properly. So you need to get this point. Second is there is a very good neuroscience connection which happens. So research in social, cognitive and affective neurosciences suggest that gratitude activates your brain reward system. The moment when you are really thankful. Like let's say if you have a small wife. Like, let's say if you have a sorry, a small house, a very, let's say you don't like your wife that much. But let's say you are having a daily fight and if you're having a misunderstanding. But if you really practice gratitude, there are many people who don't have wife. There are many people who lost their wife or there are many people who have not been married, but they wanted to get married for some reason, it's prolonging. It's better than them, right? At least you're having a wife. At least you need to be gratitude for that. You need to be grateful for that. Many people don't have a home, but you have a small home at least. So people don't understand this. That is why it brings you a kind of a reward system. It builds that system in you. So research in social, cognitive and affect effective neuroscience suggests that it activates your brain reward system which can increase your cognitive flexibility. It improves your divergent thinking, which is a key aspect of creativity. If you say small, small things, thank you. I'm really grateful for this. And even Though if you, even though, if you've disappointed me, I've learned a good lesson from you. Thank you. If you, if you see that positivity in negative situation also you tend to bring that flexibility inside you. You know what guys? If you bring that element of gratitude, it improves your creativity also. It's proven so. The second important aspect which is improved in you is innovation. Spark. See, a study in the Journal of Positive Psychology revealed that employees who expressed gratitude to their colleagues reported higher levels of creativity and innovation in workspace. So what is stopping you? Try that out. Okay, so the domino effect. I'll tell you. By fostering a culture of appreciation, gratitude can create a more positive and collaborative work environment leading to a synergy of creative ide. You know, in my corporate also I've seen many emails coming to appreciate your boss, your colleague, something called extra miles in my organization. It was there and a lot of corporates have also initiated it. I really understand now that why they are really using that because it improves and boosts your morale and it improves your synergetic creative working environment. Right? So why don't we start? So it's an innovative spark which improves in every one of you in your workplace. The third important thing is it improves your resilience and problem solving. Research published in Emotion found that individuals who practice gratitude demonstrated a greater resilience in their life while they face stress and challenges. Creative problem solving under pressure. When difficulties are faced, Great mindset can help designers approach a problem with more optimism, more open mindedness leading to innovative solutions. So understand this resilience is very important and research has shown like people who practice gratitude say thanks for everything every single day or every single moment. They have a great resilience in face of stress and challenge. So it's very vital it improves. The fourth important aspect is improves your well being and flow. The study in the Journal of Happiness Studies shows that gratitude practices can boost your overall well being and your life satisfaction. It's superb guys. What else we need? In fact, I was also not knowing, you know what, when my mentor one day showed that he has nine people printed out in his cardboard and then he puts it in his wall and thanks these nine people every single day. He showed that in a zoom call he used to tell about gratitude. We asked him like what do you really, what do you really gratitude of? He showed that. And then he said, every single day I pray my mentor. Because of this mentor only he has become so successful. And he takes his picture and his father and his mother and his wife and he said, there is one bad person also in me whom I'm thanking. Because if that bad thing has not happened, I would not be having the trust and motivation to become success. See, this is what is called negative thing. And then you're giving gratitude for it. Because 99% we give gratitude for only positive things, right? Let's say if somebody is ditching you, let's say if somebody is really cheating you. Or maybe if they are doing anything which is unexpected. You normally use bad words and then you leave that, right? So when you are very conscious from now on, try to see a positivity in it and then thank it. If you really think very deep. Guys, whatever you have become as a person is because of your bad things. What has happened, Think about it. Definitely you will find a recollection. And because of that only you become a person like that. Or else you would be in the same way. Everything happens positively in your life. You will go into depression. You will become more psychologically depressed. So the study of Journal of Happiness studies shows that it improves your life satisfaction. It improves your flow of state. When designers really feel happy and content, no, they are more likely to enter the flow of state. You know what, guys? There is a book called Flow Real Miyasaki. I guess I'm not sure of the name of the author. It's a beautiful book called Flow. If you are in the state of heightened focus and creativity, you give the best creative work output. And if you practice gratitude continuously for 30 days to 40 days, you will improve this, guys. So start today. Take an action point of this podcast. Okay, so the fifth important thing is you will think beyond the individual. So research in personality and social psychology shows that expressing gratitude to others can not only benefit the receiver, but also the giver. See, you are also having a benefit. So why don't you try it? That's the big reason which I got really attracted, guys. It's a benefit for both of them. That is the nature's law. So if you give more, if you respect more, if you are really thankful for something which you are getting every single day, you will get more. Nature will give you more. You know what? You'll spread a lot of joy, guys. By sharing this appreciation with others, you can create a ripple effect of positivity that improves your collaboration trust, and you'll become even more creative person in your design team. Let me repeat whatever we have recollected in this particular podcast, guys. Okay, the first thing is you will improve your creativity. It will boost your creativity. The second is it will improve your innovation spark. The third is it will improve your resilience and problem solving. The fourth is it will improve your well being and you become a state of flow in order to become more creative and you'll float with ideas. And the fifth is you go beyond individuals and this is the five important thing of practicing gratitude in your career as a designer. See, remember guys, gratitude is a practice, it's not a destination. And you do it for one day and then you leave it. The more you culture and nurture and habit build it, the stronger it will become and the benefits you will get is infinite. Find your gratitude guru. Experiment with different practices. Try to find a first. I would say try to thank your mother, father, wife, brother, sister and the person who is really guiding you or mentoring you. Or maybe a good teacher, maybe, maybe if you found a good boss or maybe if you're thankful to your friend or somebody or maybe somebody has saved you. Choose that person and try to practice with them for next 21 days. Let gratitude be your creative compass as you grow in your creative field so that you will unlock a world of possibilities and you tend to become a huge creative guy. Track your process, track your progress, keep a gratitude journal, take a printout or something. In fact, I'm also going to do it after this podcast because I want to be more, more action taker than anybody. Then and only I'll get results. Okay, and then use this gratitude app. Lot of gratitude app is there in the Play Store App store. You can definitely download it and monitor your mood and creative output.
