Foreign Being an effective communicator is very vital. Let me give you a very important stat. More than 60 percentage of the projects really fail because of ineffective communication. Hojagji, this is really important. Yes, it is really important than your technical skills. Let me tell you, this podcast is going to exactly give you the importance why it is vital for communication skills to be developed and five strategies which I'm going to be telling you to improve your communication effective in design over very very faster span of time. Okay, so take a lot of notes. Let's go into this actionable podcast. Okay. Why it is very important first to understand effectiveness of communication. Lot of people first have problem in this. Let's deal about the strategies. Second, let me tell you guys, for a project success and a team collaboration to happen, effective communication is a major, major thing. A project management institute made this particular study. They proved that projects really fail 56 percentage of the time because of ineffective communication. And this is a big problem. It's a primary contributor they are saying. So that is why it is very important to talk to your teammates to get the things clear and to make sure your expectation is meeting them and their expectation towards you is being fulfilled. You know what? Because of this one primary reason, the communication is not established properly. This leads to a very poor outcome in your projects. Let me tell you, client satisfaction is a major important thing when it comes to effective communication. A survey by Adobe found that 38% of the users will stop engaging with the website if the content of the layout is unattractive. See guys, communication in terms of client and what you call your your team collaboration is fine. But when it comes to your user end, this is also a communication, right? If you're not effectively communicating your graphics or your interface or your experience, people will start disengaging with your content. So understand internally and externally why it is important. Even when your client meet happens or even when you're customer meet happens, or your boss or your subordinates or whom you want to really present, you have to make sure you are communicating it clearly. Whatever you want to say. You can take presentation method, you can take oral method, you can take any method. But this is very important. Okay, now let us understand another stat which is important to career advancement. A survey by Creative group proved that 50% of the executives consider communication skill is the most important attribute for a creative professional. Let's leave other professional for other professional also. It's really important guys, but for creative field, unless until if you're not communicating properly, whatever you wanted to say or Whatever you wanted to present or whatever colors or schemes which you wanted to showcase, what is the point? Others will get communicated to whatever you're trying to say, people will misunderstand, right? Let's say if you're making a graphics or a communication, you're intending to ask the users, this is a caution, don't touch this. If the user has not understood what will happen, he will deliberately go and press it and disaster will happen. Right? So that's why communication is very important. I'm taking the other extreme because it's vital in terms of warning, safety, caution, precaution in terms of industrial as well, in terms of product usage, in terms of electronics and commercial uses and electronic appliances which we design and interface for these products. Right? So that is why it is very, very vital to do that. So understand this internally and externally. I've told you with the stat that communication is the vital key thing. Now let us understand the five strategies of it. The very first strategy is first of all, tailor your communication based on your different stakeholders. If you're talking with your developers or engineers or even your sales marketing people, make sure you plan a little before you communicate or make a presentation to them. Illustrate if it is required to have some drawings or sketches or graphs showcasing that. Lot of times management people and sales people really, they expect numbers because they expect that CEOs really believe in vision sometimes and CEOs believe in improvement of their company to a profitable manner. When it comes to developers and engineers, they need a proper handhold when it comes to transferring your input design into a clear developable, what you call application or a website or a developable prototype. Right? So understand whose, whose requirement is what to provide them. Let me tell you guys, I used to work in a project called Numo, one of the big project. I worked in Phoenix Medical System when I was an intern. It's an intern project. But at that point of time there is completely a travel restriction. We can't travel much when we can't travel at all. Being in a medical field, we got a special pass to travel. I'm telling you in the 2020 where the first pandemic was really bad and nobody is really aware of that situation. We were designing a ventilator for the patients. Okay, we have. I mean, I've been responsible for the user interface for that. No more device, you won't believe. We used to sit with an engineers, we used to sit with the developers, we used to sit with the design team and I was a UI UX designer there and the company CEO Was there. You know, we used to sit at a stretch to discuss what is the improvement that can be done and what is feasible in design and what is feasible in development and what is feasible at the real time testing and what is feasible at the customer. And everything we synchronize together at a time, at a stretch to make sure it is going smooth and fast. You won't believe in 100 days we developed this entire product. Even for interface and experience we took around 30 days. I made around 26 plus concepts to 40 concepts before choosing the colors, typeface, graphics, communication, clarity. With only 33 skins we were able to communicate user a very critical functionality of a ventilator. And you can search in Google. Numo is one of the best product. It got a national award for a medical product device. And our company MD Mr. Sashi Kumar has got this award. You can check that. I was responsible for the UI UX design and the engineering team. Everybody can take the credit because we all really worked hard for that. That's why guys, if you don't understand the importance of communication like this, what happens is you will tell some concept. The developer will tell it is not possible. Engineering will tell it's possible. But we have to test it and try and testing will say at the end of the project this is not possible. The graphics is crashing and the sales and marketing will tell. No, no, this is. This is the color which is not understood by the customer. We have to give some brand color. This that all problems will come at the end if you make them sit across the table. I'm not saying you have to make them literally sit. But I'm saying the communication should be that clear and transparent. See, that is what is called tailoring your stakeholders communication. Second is improving your language skills. See, for good English language you have to speak a lot of wrong English. First you need to talk with lot of people without shy. Even if you have shy also don't worry. Leave the fear of judgments. Talk wrong English again and again and again. That's the only way to improve. And you can take a challenge called 100 movies. Like you can watch 100 English movies without subtitles non stop for next maybe 10 or 15 days. What happens? You will flow in English automatically, subconsciously your words will come out of your mouth. When you go and talk with someone in English, you don't have to even force yourself. Right now if you don't have English knowledge and if you go and talk with somebody, what you will do, you will feel like hi sir, how are you doing? And I don't know. Project difficulty. I am delivering deliver tomorrow project. You will stock like let's say that level of English communication only you have, okay? You're not very proficient. You're not very good. Take up this challenge. Download some hundred good movies. Or maybe you can use your Netflix or Prime or any account. If you have watch in next nine or ten days, hundred different movies every single day. Two to three movies or even five or six movies. Continuous. There is a reason why I'm saying continuous. Because if you leave a gap, what happens is you tend to become normal. You talk to your friends, relatives, your family, your office, this, that. And then you go into your mother tongue and you be comfortable. The moment when you make yourself uncomfortable to watch 100 movies, let me tell you guys, subconsciously you will flow with the language of English. The best way to learn English is to watch a lot of movies and to talk lot with lot of people. Even I will tell you there are other benefits also. If you watch a movie, you will learn the language. You will learn some good things from the movie. Choose good movies. Don't watch, watch rubbish movies. Choose different, different genre movies. You will technically learn something. You will. You will see the character. You will entertain yourself. You will not feel bored while this process. And you would have gained some knowledge also. Yeah, that's also pretty much good movies also entertainment. Apart from that, it gives you some knowledge what's happening in the world and you can get to know. Honestly speaking, guys, I took the 100 movie challenge. But I did it for a different purpose. I wanted to complete that movie because I got placed in a company and I wanted to reward myself during my college days. Because I've been starving without movies for over one or two years. I didn't watch any movies. I was very much focused on education, getting placed for a core company, this, that. But after that I rewarded. You know what? Eventually my English has drastically improved. Like anything after that, then and only I used to tell to my students, use this strategy. Because normally people will be excited when you ask somebody to go and watch movies, right? When you ask somebody to read a newspaper or go to English classes or talk to someone, definitely people will not do. But what happens if you do this 100 movie technique? You will become Master Blaster. It's a magical technique, guys. Nobody will ever tell you to do it. This is the importance of communication, improving English language. The third is build your confidence. See guys, the moment when you are really doing this activity. And then if you try to talk to people, leave the fear of judgment. You will have huge confidence. Okay, so do it guys. Because if you do action, you will see good luck happening to you. I read a book called Richest man in Babylon. I was reading that book. So in that book there was a very good statement called good luck and lot of good things and what do you call some good luck Goddesses, they call in that book as a metaphor. So that will come to people who take action. It will not come to people who just think, think or don't take action or just think too much or they just move and live their life. Luck come to people who really take action and move forward. You may fail at few times, but that's okay. But you will definitely get huge success. So I'm relating to this point now. If you take action and move forward, what happens is you will see some effectiveness happening very quickly. So you can see some concise message and you can avoid some jargon words while you are texting, or you can even listen to some active communication videos and audios and podcasts like this. And what happens is eventually you will text in that particular language, you will read in that particular language and also you will see more clarity in your communication, whatever you're doing. Okay? And this is the what you call the third important strategy. The fourth is practice effective communication continuously. It should not leave just like that for one or two or three days. Build a 21 day habit. Watch this hundred movies. Meanwhile, when you're texting to your girlfriend, or when you're texting to your friends, or when you're texting to your lovers or anybody, that's okay. Try to communicate in English as much as possible because we don't really feel very difficult when we talk to some loud ones, right? We don't feel a fear of judgment or we don't feel too much. So you can use that English language communication there. The fifth important strategy is engage in lot of social medias and forums. Let me tell you guys, when you go and talk to a lot of people in social media, design community, share your work, engage in some conversation, definitely you will develop lot of communication strategy. The sixth additional benefit, I'll tell you guys, take a personal mentorship if somebody is really watching you and then if you're accountable for them, make sure you tell them, hey, today I'll complete four movies and then I'll update you and I'll talk in English to you. Have some accountability with your mentor or your community, wherever you are. Then and only you will become serious guys. Or else you listen to this podcast, you'll Go back to your normal sleep. That's it. Hearing to this much of 10 minutes, 12 minutes itself is waste of time I would say. So follow the strategies. Okay, so let me repeat you the six strategies, guys. Tailoring communication for different stakeholders. Improving your language skills, okay? Through reading, writing and you can even have a what you call good medium to even talk to different, different people. And third is build confidence. If you can able to build confidence over time, you will have more. What you call you can eliminate the fear of judgment and you will speak good. Because the moment when you have confidence, when you're happy, language flows automatically. The fourth thing is practice effective communications while texting in social media. Avoid some jargon words. Fifth is engage in social media. Sixth is seeking a very good accountability and a mentorship. Okay, let me tell you guys, I've joined one of the English club during my engineering days where I really learnt a lot of English. I did lot of mistakes but I didn't have any fear of judgment. So join in some kind of a community or a club where you can learn a lot of things. It's called Lada. When I used to go to my engineering days which is like literary and debating association la da Lada. So a lot of people used to come. Boys, girls, we don't feel any what you call shy or this that One of my English professors really encouraged that. I really dedicated this particular podcast also because his name is Madhyagan. He is no more. But he's a wonderful person who really motivated me a lot to become an effective communicator. The way in which he talks English really inspires us. He doesn't talk like a guy who is learning English and speaking. He will speak like as if he's born with that language. He has got a what you call degree in Cambridge University which is one of the reputed universities in the world. He's a great guy. And you know what? His efforts only has made this Lada opportunity come into true. And let me tell you guys, to be very honest, because of those clubs only, I have really formed a community to make myself put into that accountability and learn and practice and continuously speak English. I've been in that ladder for two years and then we've organized some events also. We had a great time with our professor. You know, that's why you need a good mentor or accountability partner to really improve. That's the reason I'm reflecting back on you. Because they will motivate you. They'll make you come out of that comfort zone because they have already gone through that path. Right? So hats off for my professor, Dr. Madhyaragan.
