Jagdish, a mechanical engineer and product designer, introduces Design for Change, his mentorship program aimed at empowering designers globally. The program combines learning with real implementation, offering career growth and entrepreneurial opportunities for aspiring designers.
Welcome, this is Jagdish. Thank you for staying tuning in with me for Design for Change. It's been a very long time. I'm happy to see everybody and a lot of people have really asked me this question, like hey Jagdish, what do you do and what's your program about? And how we can really make a big designer out of this particular initiative. What I have taken, okay, because I've taken a chance to share with many of you in person. But larger population 30 plus countries are listening to this podcast and let me hear out as a message for all of you. Okay? So the very first thing is I'm a mechanical engineer and a product designer over close to 8.5 years of experience working in 70 plus projects. 70 and still counting. And I work with 15 to 16 different country designers and I have, what do you call it, a national award for a medical product which I worked for the UI UX called Numo, which is a ventilator. And this particular product was developed at Phoenix Medical System and I was a part of the UI UX team. Currently that product is working in thousands of facilities in India. And I have really mentored over hundreds and hundreds of students in person life. And I've guided 12,500 students in order to understand their pain points and help them directly or indirectly. I've recorded many courses in podcast and teachings, but that's not the point, guys. If a person really appears in front of me, the way in which I see them is very different. What is their real pain area? What is their real problem? And through which I've understood there are certain patterns which the designers are really going through. There are some pain areas which our designers are constantly going through. And through this program I'm going to be addressing that and clearing out that resistance. And if you clear out all this resistance, let me tell you guys, you will reach your design goal. So the very first mission of Design for Change is, let me tell you, before 2030, which is 2030, we have to help 10 lakh designers reach their design goals to get jobs or to get freelancing projects or to even start their consulting or whatever. Okay? That's the very first mission. What I have, the second mission, what I have is I'll be helping them build thousand different industries. Let it be a small scale startup, MSME or even a big corporation, no problem. They have to really become a product designers. So start their own industry. Right now, every people start their industry, even if they are business people, even if they have an accounting knowledge, even if they have a very different field. But designers who are really leading the industry are very less so. In our program to Design for Change I would like to empower the students to really start their own industries. And I wanted to help thousand industries really make a successful startup which has to really make a very profitable business out of it by giving thousands and thousands of employments in order to give a very good quality of life. In fact that's the vision of these are designed for change. Why we're doing thousand startups, why we're helping 10 lakh designers to really lead a very quality life, to have a well being, to lead a very potential and high fulfilled life through the products and services, what this world is going through. There are a lot of shit out there guys. There are a lot of products and services which is not available, which is not needed, which is not really required in the market, which is creating a lot of pollution, which is creating a lot of distraction for the people well being. But there are only few products out there which can really help that. So Design for Change is not just helping you get a job or do all this what you call help you start up and all. It helps overall human being to really lead a very quality lifestyle. And I very, very strongly believe through design thinking this can be achieved very faster. You know, when design thinkers are putting together everybody in place, like let's say the stakeholder, the shareholders, the investors, the designers, the engineers, the market, the testing, the R and D, the what you call the sales, the marketing, the branding, the entire ecosystem of the office stakeholders, whoever is required for building a company and a corporation. If everybody is united through design thinking and the process is set in that way, there is no doubt that which product comes out of this industry is going to be a world class. There is no doubt that this product is really going to have an evergreen sustainability in the next hundred to 200 years or even more. So those kind of products and services our designers can really bring guys. So join me if you really wanted to become a big part of this mission and vision. Because it's not about competition, it's about collaboration. How well you develop your niche, you develop your skill and you are able to collaborate and make a what you call community building activities with others in order to become a win win success. Because competition is not the trend, collaboration is the trend. Okay, so how do I exactly join your process, Jagdish? What do I get it? So the very first process for joining this mentorship program is you don't need a degree or anything, Gu you just, Even if you're a 12 standard completed guy, it's absolutely fine, no problem. Even if you don't have a proper schooling education, that's also totally fine because I have it all covered in the program. In fact, the less education you have, the better for me to guide you to become a very creative designer. Right? You might not have heard this from anybody. It's exactly a flip side. I learned this from my design institute and in my design career over the point of time. And you don't need a specific time, guys. Our program starts, you know what? Morning 5:30 to 7. I know a lot of people who are listening to this podcast would be right now dropping because I cannot join this kind of a program. Let me tell you guys, if you wake up in the morning and if you spend those morning early hours to learn and grow, you will be 10x faster. And your daytime is not consumed because of this. In your daytime you can continue your work, you can continue your passion, you can take care of your family, you can go for your regular job, that's no problem. But parallel you are building your skill, you will get huge amount of time, guys, if you wake every single day 5:00 clock or even 4:30 in the morning and if you start your learning process at 5:30-7, imagine you will be spending two hours where nobody's really doing that. They're sleeping at that time. Right. Any which ways. So why don't you try it out? That's, that's how I drive my students. Can I tell you guys, my class attendance is 85 to 92 percentage in the morning 5:30 to 7, would you believe? Yes, students are coming. Do you think if student comes for that kind of a class without any kind of a great information, that level of engagement and value pack I have in the morning classes, because I give them 10x value, I give them 2100x value so that even if they go for a design institute, they will not get this value for sure. Because that kind of a knowledge I've imparted how one can able to get it in a very short span of time. Not going into an entire mode of schooling, college and all, but to exactly determine what they want to reach in their career. Whether there's a design job, whether to solve a problem for an industry, whether to work as a freelancer, whether to start up their industry, anything. Okay. And you don't need a design experience or you don't need any experience to join this program, guys. Okay? So no degree, no time, no experience, all these Things people tell us an excuse in their career forever. Okay, I have it all covered for you guys. If you are one, if you are that one who is really stumbling upon these things, write out in this email designforchangemail.com which I've given you dfcdesignforchangemail.com in this description. Me or my team will help you out. You know there is a qualification process. We'll have a short call with you for two to three minutes. See, we don't need your degree or time or anything. Guys, what we needed to check with you is your interest towards learning and your attitude towards receiving that knowledge. Are you really that thirstful guy or a girl or who is really hungry for that? And if we find we have a series of questions which is like a nine questions and will help you out to answer that. Okay, you don't have to. It's not a technical question. Tell me the color theory, what are the primary colors? Like that questions is not there guys. Okay, it's all behavior related question. It's. Anybody can answer that. Okay, so we have it covered for you. And the thing is, this program is a six to seven weeks internship program. Okay, I give it for six to seven weeks in average. So the very, very important things which I'll be covering you in this is let me tell you guys, you can go and learn design anywhere. But what's a special in this particular design for changes? The very first step is I'll peel you in a way to find out why you wanted to really become a designer. Okay, I'll take out that layer from you. Because without that layer you can't be a designer at all. Second is I'll make sure you set a very clear intention what you really wanted to achieve as a goal in your design career. The second pill, the third pill, what I'll do is what you really need in design, what you really want to specialize in design and how you can able to contribute through your skills in the design in the specific niche of a design or a specific micro niche of a design. What you really wanted to focus your strength on. Maybe you are a UI designer, maybe you are a UX designer, maybe you're a product designer, maybe you are a behavioral designer. Maybe you wanted to solve a problem for MSME as a designer. Maybe you if you want to solve a problem for business, being a designer. So any prop, any, any. Any particular skill you can master. Guys, there is huge amount of scope available for a designer. But if you learn design thinking literally you can go in Game industry, literally you can go in finance industry, literally you can go in education industry, research industry, everything guys, financial industry. So that's important. The fourth layer I'll peel you and help you is I'll imbibe process and a methodological knowledge for you. Without process and methodological knowledge, whatever technical knowledge you have already is not going to make any sense out of it. If you are able to effectively communicate and use the process and use the methodology of the design, I'll be closely teaching you around 10 products, research and methodologies and processes in order to help you out to make a world class product design out of it. Okay? And the last important layer which I'll peel you is how you can really effectively communicate and show off the market that you got something. Either if you're looking for a job or looking for an investor or you're looking for some startup or anything, how do you really show up that you have this skill and you have this product knowledge and design thinking? So this is the outcomes which a student can really get out of the six to seven weeks program. And in nutshell it's a three month support I give for them full till they reach their goal. Anybody who really wants to get a good job right now, in 90 days I can able to do it to get an excellent job. Guys, recently three of my students have cracked that. You know, one guy has got intern, has a 25,000, another guy has got 13.5 lpa and another girl has got 30,000. All these people have really started working with me and they have started getting this results and I can keep on saying there are huge results and still people are working and still some interviews are parallel happening. It's not about the results, it's about what process I have taken them in order to bring that. This is the seven steps, guys. Finding out the why, finding out the clarity in design and what you needed in design and the process and the methodology and the technicality and how do you really show off using a portfolio, your link, your, your resume, your communication, your interview skills, your salary negotiation skill, your everything in design in order to become a full successful person. And I also give only certain students a lifelong support which is like a, every week, on week Saturdays we'll be having an education call and a Q and a call where you can come and ask me hundreds of questions. Guys, no problem. That's like a week long support. But that's not all for, that's not, that's not for everybody. Okay? Only for the selected students who take up my personalized mentorship program. And I give them as a bonus because I wanted to keep them for a lifetime, I'm not going to charge them apart from that. Okay? So the point is I have to really imbibe the design knowledge, whatever I've got through a lifetime process. And you know what? You will never have a feeling of joblessness. You will never have a feeling of incompetency. You will never have a feeling of imposter that I may be thrown out of the industry because of the recession, because of the AI taking over. No problem guys, I have it all covered for you. And if you are really thinking about joining this kind of support program, you want to really take an intensive education or you really wanted to come and meet me every single week and ask me doubts, or if you wanted to really have a casual discussion with me, you can send an email to dfca. Design for Change is given in this podcast description. Write your need. Don't worry about the payment guys. We have a scholarship for students who really deserve that economic situation. Because I believe true value exchange should be given through money and the transaction. Because the moment if something is given for free, students don't take it seriously. I've really experienced a lot. I've really had a lot of things burnt because of that reason. Because when a moment students let him pay 100 rupees or thousand rupees or ten thousand anything. The moment when they pay money, they get really serious. And when they take seriously, they take action. And when they take action, they get results. When they get results, their life truly transforms. That's what I really believe. So it's my moral obligation and the authority to really help you with the value exchange. What I'm producing as a value and you have to bake a value out of it. Don't worry. As I said, there are some scholarships which can help you and there are some deliberate students which have given them a huge scholarships also recently. Provided I'll check your intention provided I'll check whether you're really interested first to learn that incapacity. No problem guys, I'll take care of that. Okay, so write it out in that email in the spotcat description what you felt about this and connect with me. Thank you so much guys. If you find this information useful, if you really wanted to connect with me, you can give a best star rating and you can subscribe for further episodes and you can get all the pain points addressed in your coming episodes as well. And I'll make sure I'll talk about your pain point. Also do some research. And if you need my mentorship support, please send that email me or my team will help out you. Okay? Take care, guys.
