Welcome to this podcast. Thank you for staying tuning here. Today we are going to see how to do rapid ideation technique. This is one of the major pain points for many designers out there in the industry. The reason being they are getting very, very stuck how to do that ideation. In fact, a lot of people have personally told me they are not able to ideate further at a point of time they got stuck, they are not able to do it. All these problems is completely repeatedly happening for me. Okay, so in fact there are multiple ways how we can approach it. In fact, we have created a very good YouTube video also which is in a live stream. I've showed you certain ideation techniques. For full variation of this ideation you can go and watch my YouTube channel and subscribe there. But in this podcast I'm going to give you a nutshell. While you're traveling, while you're on the go, you can able to get this insights and take it forward. Okay, so listen to me very carefully. See there are multiple ways how we can approach a project or ideation. Okay? Many people think for an ideator you need to be a very, very brilliant or you need to have some extraordinary genes in your brain and all these things, right? Let me make it very clear guys. To be an ideator you just need to have a proper mindset to sit and ideate. That's the very, very first vital thing. First understand why it is important. See, in overall process, ideation comes in 5 to 10 percentage, I would say. Okay. There are many other process also like research and empathy mapping and creating a project flow and talking with your clients, effectively doing effective usability testing and doing prototyping. Everything is there in the process. But ideation is also a major part to play. Okay, why it is very important, particularly doing rapid ideation technique will boost your creativity. It speeds up your ideation process. You know what, you will become so flexible, you will become so modular. You will be able to adapt and bring out any kind of a situation and solution at any point of time. And it also improves your ability towards thinking in a very critical situation. Because lot of times in design industries critical thinking is a definite skill which a designer needs to have. When you do a lot of rapid ideation technique, particularly with the time constraints, you will have lot of creativity enabled. Okay, Jagdish, how to do it effectively? I'll tell you technique number one. Okay, first of all, you can start with any ideas which is there in your mind just randomly. There is no process to do it. Just do it. Okay? This is the Very, very first step, second step, what you can do it is deeper ideation. See, while you're going little deep, okay, you can converge on one idea. In fact, this is called convergent way of thinking. First is a divergent, it's variety. You can bring this idea from anywhere, any place, anything. YouTube search, Google search, ChatGPT search. Bring anything, no problem. But second one, you're going to go very specific on a particular idea. Like let's say if you're taking one remote, how I can bring this remote in a more different way, how I can bring the remote effective, how I can make this remote interactive, how I can make the remote handy, how I can make the remote lightweight. So you're going very deep. Okay, next is Scamper. Scamper is a very detailed podcast. Also I've taken. Guys, you can go and listen to it. Scamper is a way of like let's say subtracting combination, addition and you can able to mod, you can able to create a modularity, you can able to use alternate method, you can eliminate it, you can use reverse way. So Scamper has a very deep way to technique it, but you can watch that podcast and you can come back here, you will be able to get it clear. Okay, this podcast is to give you idea on rapid ideation, not to go very deep into one particular idea. Okay, next fourth one is mindstorming. See, mindstorming is very, very superb technique, guys. Ideally when you have 20 minutes for that, you need to create 20 ideas. Okay. If you create that kind of a time frame and then when you start ideating, you will have 20 ideas definitely coming into you. Don't ask me how because my mentor has taught me that our mind will psychologically program when a time frame is given. In fact, this is also called a pomodoro technique. You can keep a time block, you can create a time frame, you can tell 20 ideas, 20 minutes, start ideating with your team. Definitely your mind will force you to bring 20 ideas. Sometimes you will be stuck. Oh, a jagdish. I'm getting only one idea. Two idea doesn't matter, guys, the moment. If you're bringing this into the reality, you will find magically 20 ideas coming into your picture. Very, very, very, very interesting and important. Okay, and the fourth important thing is random keyword ideation. This is very interesting guys. You can take any one product. Like let's say, you can take like let's say pen, using pen. How I can bring some ideas from the pen. Like let's say your problem Statement could be sitting in a chair, you have a spinal cord problem, your user is having a problem of spinal cord. How we can bring some inspiration from pen into solving spinal cord problem? This too may be very contradictory, but think about it. Okay, first of all, try to take some attributes of the pen. Pen should be sleek, pen should be lightweight. Pen should be openable. Pen should have a modularity. Pen should have a cap. Pen should have a protection. Pen should have some kind of a material protection. And also pen should be able to write. So a lot of characteristic pen has take out from this characteristic what is really suitable for you. Okay, you're going to solve a problem of back sitting spinal cord. Okay, so pen has a good way of how you can able to create more. How you can able to create and write whatever ideas you have in front of you. Like let's say pen is a way you can start start ideating more. So for doing that, what you can do is first of all think about while you're sitting. Can I design a pen in a way people can able to ideate little faster while using that pen? There is a very good motion sensor available while you're standing. Only this pen will get activated. Okay, Think about crazy ideas. See, don't think about whether it will work or not. It doesn't matter. Think about the pen where people only while they are standing they can able to use that ink. Or else pen will never spit the ink. Imagine a sensor which is inbuilt towards it. This is one idea. Second, now can I bring a pen in a way? You cannot use it in a sitting posture. Ergonomically, you need to have raised your hands then and only the pen will start writing that ideas. Okay, See, you're taking that inspiration of a pen and then you're bringing back to solve this problem. Okay? Third, okay, so pen has a cap and protection. Why don't you have a protection in your spinal cord which can protect you while you're sitting longer time. You could have a lumbar support, you could have a belt, you could have a strap. You could have a product which can be mounted in your back or spinal cord or in your chair or anything which can protect you. Same like the cap protects the pen, right? So you can protect your user with a spinal cord cap or something like that. Okay, think about it. See, if you're expanding this idea, you can bring hundreds and hundreds of ideas towards it. Okay, Then you think about. Okay, pen has a nib pointed. Okay, so this idea could be implemented. No, it's not very Suitable. Okay, let's go for other attribute. Okay. Pen has a. Like. Let's say pen has a property of putting it in the pocket. Can your spinal cord device can be mounted in a pocket? Yeah, we can think about it. Because it's a very easy carryable. If people have. They can take it to anywhere, they can take it to office, they can bring it to a home, they can take it to any other place while they're sitting for a longer time. While sitting. Only people are getting this ergonomic problem. Right? So create a device which can fit in the pocket of the people which is carryable, which they can able to use it while they're traveling in the car or restaurant or office or sitting anywhere in the house. They have support, they have come out of the lumbar problem or spinal cord problem. See, by using some random ideation keyword, using a pen. Because pen is there in front of me. I just told you, you can take anything. Guys, this is a beautiful ideation method. Okay? This is also called morphological way of taking the characteristic from this pen and implementing it. Okay. Then there is something called slow meditative technique which is the fifth one, sorry, sixth one. You can slowly close your eyes, think about that problem statement for few minutes and then open your eyes and bring some ideas. Magically. You will see a lot of ideas coming into your plate. Okay, then there is seventh one which is called break ideation. This is beautiful way. See, when you are ideating for a longer time, when you're there in the project for like one week or two week, you could take a break and then come back, go for a small vacation, like a one day or two day and then come back again and solve the same problem. I'm sure, guys, you will see a different perspective coming into your mind. You will see a huge perspective shift in your thought process. The reason being you will see there is a. Okay, so far I've been ideating. I did not get this idea, but while I took the break, I got this idea again. So people are very, very surprised. Guys, the moment, if you're. If you're taking a break, your mind will stop thinking about the problem. You will be disengaged and you will be engaging in a different problem again. If you come back, you will see magic happening. You will put a lot of ideas in your creativity. This is a great way to start ideating this. Okay, so let me repeat you. The first is variety of ideation diversion. Second is deeper way conversion. Third is camper technique. Fourth is mindstorming. 20 minutes, 20 ideas. Fifth is random keyword ideation and morphological mapping. Sixth is slow meditative technique. Seventh is having a break and come back to ideation. If you implement this ideation, guys, I'm telling you, you can able to have a great quality of ideas coming at you. Let me give you some statistics also, guys. See people are doing continuous ideation. They are 60% more faster ideators and Design Council UK has said that people are doing continuous ideation session, ideation generation session, 30 to 50% more ideas they can able to generate compared to any average designer interaction. Design foundation has found the statistics. So now your activity is to take one problem statement and switch on your timer for 20 minutes and start ideasing 20 techniques. You can just pin it down, you can just have a thought process in your mind map, you can put it in your word file, Miro file, anything guys, but just do it. Because listening to this podcast for the seven ideas will not change anything. Maybe if you're traveling. Also take your notepad in your phone notes, start taking one problem which you're currently facing in your design industry and start thinking about 20 different way how you can solve it. Surprise, surprise, your 20th idea. What you're going to ideate is going to be a game changer in your profile which is going to get a great project and a benefit in your company right now. Okay? So implement this technology, implement the strategies and let me know what you think about this podcast. Okay? See you in another episode. Take care guys. Bye bye.
