Ep 274| 3 powerfull frame work for project Introduction in minutes
3 Oct 2024 · 18 min
Jagdish walks through three frameworks for introducing yourself and your projects in interviews: Problem-Solution-Impact, the STAR method, and PESTLE analysis. Each one gives you a structure to explain what you did and why it mattered in minutes.
Foreigners out there in the market don't know how to tell about themselves and how to introduce their project in few minutes. In this podcast I'm going to give you three powerful frameworks how you can introduce yourself and create a lasting impact to get hired. Remember guys, only 7 seconds people. Engagement stays while you're telling your answers, your interview, your your interview answers, your projects, your introduction, anything, okay? And also 50% of the things they forget after you left. So the retention is very, very less, right? So how do you create that retention in a very, very smaller span of time? By introducing your key project in few minutes. You're going to see that in detail in this podcast. Welcome to this episode guys. Thank you for staying tuning here in Design for Change. Thank you for subscribing and also you're spreading a great word among your friends and we can see a lot of engagement happening in this recent days. And thank you so much again. If you want to get further notified with all of this episodes and all, please subscribe to Apple and Spotify. And also if you find this is valuable content, I would highly recommend you to drop a rating as well as there is a free gift available in the podcast description. You can go and come and you can go and climb it. And every Sunday 11 o' clock we have a free webinar running and every day 6 o' clock Indian timings IST we are having a YouTube live stream happening guys and this will happen till December 31. We are doing a 100 days design skill booster challenge. So anybody who is interested in learning any skill can hop on. I don't think normal people will come. Only serious people who are very dedicated, highly disciplined will come. You know why and how I'm saying that because the call is at 6 o' clock Indian timing every single day a lot of people don't wake up at that time. Okay? So people who are very serious about their career, they still wanted to learn, they can come there if they wanted to come and take my mentorship program and join our program and community. Please attend our next 11 o' clock sign Sunday morning class to understand how this entire formula of the six step works in order to triple your salary in just 90 days. Okay fine. So now today we are going to see how you can introduce yourself in just few minutes and how you can introduce your projects in few minutes. Because lot of people are bragging about their answers here and there, not knowing how to tell how not knowing how to talk in the interview and they are getting super, super lost.
Okay?
So in this podcast we're going to see that very first thing. If you wanted to really explain your project in a nutshell in a quick way is. First of all, you need to remember one thing, guys. You need to remember there is a framework called how, what, who, why?
Okay?
Write down these things because if you are not taking notes, you will not be able to understand anything in this podcast.
Okay?
So listen to me very carefully. First of all, be creative on your process, sorry, Be creative on your designs. There is no problem in that. But don't be creative on the format and the process which I am giving you because these are ultimately proven steps which can bring you clarity in how you are going to explain it.
Okay?
So remember this, please be creative on your designs, your project, your solution and novelty. But don't be creative on this framework, whatever I'm teaching you, because this is a process framework template which you can use for introducing yourself to any interview, any recruiter, any teammates. Anything is possible with that. Okay, so, so first of all, when you're explaining your project, think about what is the problem you are going to solve? What is the problem, who is responsible for that? Why did you solve that? And then show the solution. How did you come up with? And then show the impact. What are the outcome? What is the before, what is the after? Okay, so this is the very, very first powerful framework which is called problem solution impact framework. First take about the problem, what is the problem? Who is involved? Why did you solve and solution? How did you solve this problem and impact what it is created before and after? If you can pause this podcast and think about your last thought, three projects and write in this format right now in front of you. Your self introduction is ready for next two minutes. If you exactly did that activity as I believe you would have done it, your self introduction for your project is ready in front of you. And then go and practice it for 10 to 20 times so that you would be clear to explain that. Because nothing with nothing comes without practice. Guys, writing this down will not give you clarity. You have to take a little practice to explain it.
Okay?
And then I'll give you some introduction and explanation. Make sure you are tailoring this based on your audience whom you have in front of you.
Okay?
Because once you have this tailoring, whoever is there in front of you, you will be able to have a super clarity on what you are going to explain to them.
Okay?
Because ultimately nothing will work out if you are not talking exactly to the audience, whatever they are giving you, and information.
Okay?
Okay, let's go to the Second framework maybe you will understand much better. Okay, so the second framework is very, very simple, guys. It is called Star method.
Okay?
Remember S T A R. Okay? So whenever you are having any kind of a doubts in explaining your project, always remember this. This is the second powerful strategy.
Okay?
So YES stands for situation.
Okay?
T stands for task, A stands for action, R stands for result. Very simple. Okay, so let me explain it very simply for you. First of all, when you take star format, you have to write about the situation. What is your project dealing with? What is the problem statement you came up with, who in the first place the client gave you the situation. It could be something like this. Like let's say your client engagement ratio is very poor in the shopping cart application, whatever here has designed. So you are now going to help him solve the problem, right? That could be the situation task. What are the task you planned? What are the plan of the project? What did you do? And then action. What are the action you are going to massively take in order to go and solve it? Or maybe you have taken your earlier project. You ideally know what is exactly the action which you have taken. Okay, write it down and then R stands for result. S T A R Situation, task, action, result. Once you are able to mitigate the results like before and after, we have improved the engagement ratio by up to 50 percentage. Earlier people used to engage in our content only for 7 seconds. But now we have increased it to 15 seconds. Now people were able to exactly find out the relevant information in order to make the purchase happen in the shopping cart. See, like let's say if you're explaining to your recruiter about your project, your shopping cart application, you can able to use the same format. Hi, I'm Jagdish. Hello Mr. So and so. I'm really glad that I'm in the interview now. So now I'm going to explain very shortly about my project what I did for improving the shopping cart experience. And this is mainly for the people who are kids who are going to learn and find out which is suitable for them to go and purchase it. You know what we did this particular problem statement came like kids were not able to find out exactly what they required to buy in our shopping cart. And then we took action of doing an interview with these kids, doing testing with these kids and found out what are the exact requirements. And then we took a massive action on of implementing four to five prototypes and we tested out with the user and then we created this process with a double diamond approach. And then we did the solution in just three steps. And now the engagement ratio has increased insanely higher. And the results, what we got is now out of 100 people, 50 people are using our application very happily and they were able to engage for more than 30 seconds. And end of the day they were able to purchase the product in very, very few steps. See how much time I took? One minute, one and half minute, that's it, right? So you got the project, you got what is this project about? You got who we are targeting this project for and you know why we are doing this project and you know exactly the situation, task action and the final results. See, if you can't tell this project like this way completely, you are gone out of the track, guys. Nobody can help you. Because ultimately you should understand people are not there just like that, sitting, they have only few minutes time. And you should be able to explain what you got in your project in that few minutes time. If you're not doing that, it would be absolutely waste of time for the recruiter as well as you guys because ultimately people want to know what you solved. You understand the second framework which is called Star Model. Okay, so write down your one project, pause this podcast and write down in this STR format and try to use it. See, when you're ideally in my community there is something called Codex document which we fill in. All of this is included inside it. If you use AI generated ChatGPT software and use the codecs along with that, you can able to tailor make your any introduction for any interview with any project in just one prompt. If you wanted to know, you can jump into my community and you can attend the 11 o' clock webinar and you can also send one email to us. Maybe we'll share with you. If you're a very interested candidate, we'll share with you that Codex document. You can able to fill it out.
Okay?
Because ideally if you have Codex Document in front of you, which is one important document which we do in our project, you can able to complete and tell any introduction to anybody within just few minutes time.
Okay?
So think about it. It's very, very important. Okay, so this is the second framework. Third powerful framework is pistol. See, even when you're lost completely while you're in the interview, if you don't know what you're going to talk, if you forget Star Model, if you forget what is your project, if you're very nervous, shaky, don't worry, just remember this Pestle P E S T A L okay, Type out in the chat P E S T al if you want to see the live demo of this? You can also go to my YouTube channel. Guys, I've given a live demo also. You can go and watch it out. But this is a podcast where you can listen to an audio format. I understand you're traveling somewhere and then you're listening to it. Really good. Superb. But if you wanted a detailed one, go to the YouTube channel and you can able to find out there.
Okay.
Pestle what is third framework? Jagdish Pestle P stands for political. E stands for economy. S stands for societal. T stands for technology. E stands for environmental. L stands for legal. If you are completely forgetting about your project anything think about P. What is the political relevance for your topic? Think about it and talk for few minutes. What is the economy relevance for this? By using your shopping applications, how much people are able how people are able to save their money? Or how costly cost expensive is your application? Or how costly is your application? Or how cost effective is your application? Bring the economy and money factor into it. Third, bring the societal impact by using this application or the product what you design, how much people are going to get impacted by that? Bring out the society influence guys. Because this is most most important and a lot of people don't know how to do it. In fact, that is the most interesting thing. If you can able to metricate it with a social response, you will be absolutely able to bring out the best responses in your project. Guys. Because ultimately people want the impact. What did you create? What people have got benefited? If you can tell that they don't need to interview for 15 minutes guys, in few minutes they'll understand who you are. See, right? I just showed you in front of you few minutes how we can explain your project. Then think about T which is technology. Whatever is the technology you used in your project. Tell that maybe you used any AI advanced model. Maybe used any advanced coding model may be used any special technology for visually assisting any aids or anything which you created, please try to bring the technology into it. This is called T. Next is E Environmental. Think about how sustainable it is. Think about what is the impact it can able to create for the society. Think about what is the sustainable impact which it can create which is called E Environmental. Last is yell which is called legal. Think about how legally compliant and other things it is. Because it is very important to understand this P, E S T E L Guys, if you understand this framework, you can use it like a quick fixer, like a hack. If you forget everything, you can still use this to get rid of nervousness and shakiness in your interview.
Okay.
Yes. Let me repeat you guys. First is problem solution, impact framework. Tell about what is the problem, who, why, how you solved it and what are the outcome. Second is a star model, situation, task and action result. Third is a pestle, Political, economical, societal, technology, environmental, legal. When you combine this three and then when you prepare at least two to three concepts of self introduction, you will be able to deliver your project in just two minutes. Even if you have five projects, you can explain all of this project in just 10 minutes. 5 into 2 10. What else you need? Then I'll give you some introduction, some small frameworks for you, small information. Guys, make sure when you're talking to your recruiter, you should tailor your content based on who is there. Don't talk to HR very detailed because they don't want. First of all, okay. If it is a hr, you have to restrict your communication carefully. If it's a design head, you have to restrict your communication also accordingly. If he is a technical lead of the project who is going to hire you? He's going to be a reporting manager. Then you can go and explain very detailed.
Okay?
And ask for a feedback. Whenever you're completely explaining your project, ask them. Sir, is it okay? Clear. Should I explain it little detaily. Then you will get the response. Oh no Jagdish, it's enough. You can stop. See you don't have to explain much. Lot of people just go on explaining completely all the details. Guys, lot of. A lot of people have a misconception. Oh, I should explain everything in my project here. Then and only people are going to like me. No, I need to use lot of technical words. Generally people will know I'm technically stuff. No, not required. Don't waste your time unnecessarily by this small, small thing thinkings and misconception. Guys, please be very careful about it, okay? Because ultimately if you are explaining in a short, crystal clear, simple way, remember this. Kiss. Kiss. Keep it simple, stupid. Keep it simple, stupid. Keep it simple, stupid. Kiss.
Okay.
If you're making it very crisp and clear, simple for the audience, whomever is there in front of you, you'll be able to get more chance of hiring. Guys. If it is a healthcare application, bring out the patient outcomes and bring out the standards and complaints what you brought. If it's a fitness based application, bring out the engagement and motivation elements and gamification what you want. If it's an e commerce industry, bring about how much conversions and user flow you have reduced. If it's a fintech based industry. Explain the number of steps and the financial savings, what they can able to get by using your product or application. So think about what is the context, who is there in front of you and explain that. And always remember guys, numbers, statistics, facts. You should always tell that how much you reduced, how much people have increased, how much people you tested with, how much introduction, how much impact you're creating. So if you are not able to metric it in a number, I'm telling you guys, even if you talk for 10 minutes, people will not understand what you're trying to say. But if you have numbers and statistics, in just one minute, people will understand. Just now, whatever I explained you as a live demo, right? Rewind this podcast and listen to it. You will know what I've exactly said. Okay, so think about all these things, guys. Then and only you will know how we can able to do so. Now it's a time for activity for you. Take out your last three projects, write down these three Analysis Method, Problem Solution, Impact Framework, STAR Method and PESTLE and create two Introduction for you and then practice it 20 times in front of your mirror and record in a audio of your WhatsApp and send it to your mentors and send it to your people. Whoever is guiding your accountability having you, you can able to get a feedback from them once. If you are taking this action and sending it guys, I don't think you will have any problem answering any question in the interview. Good. Are you guys getting it? So this is one of the very, very important podcast. It is one of the major pain points which one of our students have asked and they are very much struggling in this. Okay, so that's the exact reason I've recorded this podcast and I'll also tell you guys why it is very important. See, whenever you're attending any interview, let me make it very, very clear. Neurologically, people will engage only when you talk exactly what they need. Like let's say their prefrontal cortex come into the picture. When you exactly take talk with respect to their prefrontal cortex, what is the exact visuals, what is the exact graphical, what is the exact method and what are the exact screens you build? If you show them, people will be able to engage in their prefrontal cortex very easily. See, the moment when you engage in brains prefrontal cortex, the way in which you connect with the person will be much faster because you're structurally aiding them with the proper information. Right? And it will reduce their cognitive load. See, I already told you. Seven second is the recruiter's Review time is if you are not coming in their memory out of 10 people, whomever they are interviewed, they will Forget about you. 30 Percentage Better clarity will come only when you have a clear communication and 50 percentage more retention with the structured information what you're giving and remember. Guys, if people are remembering your information and cognitively if you're breaking down into simple simple steps to explain your project and if you're engaging in people's prefrontal cortex using some visual aids and other other things, your introduction and your explanation, people will never forget it. Please use chat GPT. Please use some AI tools. You can also use some tool called Google Bard to get more statistics information. You can use Public City to get more information. You can use answerthepublic.com to get more statistical information about your project and keep it jagdish. I don't know what is inside my project how I can able to take metrics. Go and talk to your earlier managers, project managers and leads and your your colleagues or your clients to get that information and collect it. Ultimately if you are not able to create that information clearly for you, you will not be able to get clarity in what you are going to present. Guys, ultimately if that is not coming, you will not be able to clearly precisely communicate your information and you will be talking vaguely blah blah blah. People are not going to like it.
Okay?
So think about it very carefully before you are introducing yourself in a very very careful way. Let me take one pause moment to tell you if you wanted to really get a guidance of me because you cannot do this alone.
Okay?
If you're doing it with your mentors and accountability partner, it's good. But if you want to take my support please send your voice note to this email ID if you're introducing if you're introducing yourself if you are introducing yourself in audio format, send out to the email connectdesignforchange.com which is given in the description of this podcast. Okay, definitely I'll be able to hear your voice note and I'll reply you guys because once if you are getting correction then you will improve more. If you want to come into my live webinar to see and experience how to level up your game in design in less than a 90 days by 3x your salary paycheck, you can able to come and attend my live webinar to know the six step formula what I used to teach because introduction, self introduction project introduction is a small part. If you want to see the larger picture very well you can come to my webinar and attend to take advantage of. But if you need my feedback you can send that email and wait for it. We will reply you in one or two days. Okay thank you so much guys. I hope this podcast would have given you a great value. I hope you would have taken a lot of information from the three frameworks whatever we talk. So subscribe me for further episodes and give me a Best star rating if you find this useful in podcast and Apple guys. Okay so take care. All the best. Bye bye.
