In fact, a lot of brands is trying to build in a many, many different aspects. But without understanding this basic personality type and emotional triggers what they have to create in their website, mobile app products, it is going unwasted, doing unnecessary things. This is most vital for each and every brand when they are building their products and service, particularly for already the established brand or all for the new brand which is starting. Okay, so now let's jump into this podcast, take a lot of notes, you're going to learn a lot. Welcome to this episode. Thank you for staying tuning here guys. Very important topic today, emotional triggers for a product designer. People are first not aware of why this topic is very important. Sometimes they miss out the track, sometimes they don't even aware that this kind of a topics do exist. And it's very vital before you go into the visual design or the interaction design part of it. Okay, so let me tell why. First of all see when you're making emotional triggers for your products and services or the interactions what you're trying to create, it will bring a very strong emotional connect to your product. It makes your product more relatable to them. And that is exactly called user centric design. And it will keep your user stay motivated. It builds a trust, it builds a curiosity. So what I would like you to tell you is this is a very good competitive advantage what you can have compared to any of the features, what you're building in your mobile app or products or anything. Some of the mistakes, I'll tell you guys, a lot of people think putting lot of buttons, interactions and emotional triggers will actually blow their users. No, it will in fact confuse them. And many people ignore what is the Personality of the user, what are the trigger point what they have and what are the emotional characteristic and trait what they have. They completely ignore this kind of a topic before they even go inside. Okay, so I'll tell you one example for it. Let's say if you're designing a financial based application, what happens is people don't even think who is their user. People don't even know what is the user's characteristic personality and what are the traits are they need motivation or they need trust or they need technology or they need user friendly design or they need safety. Let's say if it's relating to banking it will be more of trust, it will be more of safety. Their payment needs to be secured. So your micro interactions and your elements needs to be very aligned to the requirement of the user trigger. Okay See don't use manipulative technique, don't avoid. I mean please avoid this kind of a forced urgency like let's say make sure you're authentically designing for that because your ultimate value being a designer comes from that. Okay? Okay. How do you master this skill? I'll tell you when simple types of emotional triggers available guys. First is trust. See you can choose from your Codex document. Ideally if you are my student there is something called Codex document because you will not be able to find your characteristic and personality immediately. There is something called 16 personality test. Maybe I'll put it in the description of the podcast. You can able to try and understand that. Okay. Second, there is something called values and goals. You will have to know what is your values, your goals and what is your value matching industries like let's say if you are more inclined towards edutech industries or fintech industries or healthcare industries or whatever. Based on that you will know who is your target Persona. Based on that Persona, understand their characteristic and personality and understand their emotional triggers. What is that example? I'm giving you few triggers Trust, it builds the confidence very transparent messaging. Second urgency. It makes them take quick action countdown. You can have a timers, you can have some kind of a time sensitive messages like this offer will close at 5pm that could be a message urgency. Third is anticipation. Create some kind of an excitement. Always gamified and creating excitement and hype builds a lot. Fourth is belonging. Make sure you are telling them they are a part of the community and social Building features like it improves the connection a lot with the other people. Curiosity, this is another trait. It encourages a lot of people to come and take action. It provides a glimpse of what is happening around you and it Invites them to come into your product and service to make them use for lifetime. Okay, see guys, I'm just giving you a nutshell of it, but if you wanted a detailed topic, I took a one hour live YouTube session on my YouTube channel. Please go and watch it out because soon we'll be removing all this live content and it will be putting it in the unlisted and it will be only shared for our community people. So now we have kept it for the public so that people has to take an advantage. We have used it. Okay, because if you're listening to the podcast you will know that we have a YouTube channel and we are doing hundred days, 100 skills till this 12-31-2024. It's a very big contribution if you're doing it for the outside public. So people can come early in the morning, 6 to 6:30 to take an advantage. Sometimes it go up to 6:45 also but morning time is totally undisturbed time and that is why we are keeping that session out there. Another important trigger factor is empathy. It helps you want addressing the pain points and behaving and becoming the product by itself. Helping the people see. There are many motivational theories available like let's say fog behavioral model. It helps people to understand the motivation and and it provides a trigger and it makes sure that aligns with the user requirement and the trigger psychology together. There is something called self determination theory. This is mainly focused on this autonomous things competence relatedness. See I'm not going deep into this fog behavior model and self determination theory. I just, I'm just telling you there are many engagement triggers which you can create. Trust, urgency, anticipation, belonging, curiosity, empathy. So using these techniques, how do you design products now? Okay, first of all you will have to understand who is your personality guys, your type of personality, what you have as a users. Try to map a user Persona and ideal characteristic for them. Try to write the behavioral traits for them. Try to map out the user centric design aspect what you wanted to map for those kind of a personality trait and then start sketching some ideas and then start creating some visual interactions and then go for micro interactions and then go for testing and and then reiterate and then launch the product. I've told you a lot of steps in a very very quick span of time. Let me repeat it slowly for you. The first step is try to understand the Persona and the personality type what you have for your user. Second, think about what is the user Persona which you can ideally draw for your users. Third, try to map out the Trait for this user. Fourth, map down the exact interaction user centric design elements which you can bring for the user. Let it be physical product, digital product, that doesn't matter. Let's say if you're doing a physical product, you should know what is your trigger points for your user Persona, for your user personality, what they have, they need motivation, then give some kind of a point system. If they need reward, then give some kind of a compliments. If they need some kind of a trust, then put a secure safe payment option or whatever you're doing. So choose accordingly. Once you map that kind of user centric design elements, then go to your drawing board. Fifth step is make sure you are drawing some kind of concepts ideas before going into any kind of a software. Once the drawings and sketches and ideas is clearly communicate it to your team, then the sixth step is choose to build using a software like Figma or Adobe XT or whatever even you can do in Miro. For a small level of testing or as simple as that, you can make some paper mockups or prototype to also check it out with your user. And once the sixth step is completed, go and do a kind of a testing with the user with the mock up back, okay? Do some kind of a small testing or a big testing. And then the. The eighth point is refining that. Okay? Once you were able to get a feedback from the user, then you can slowly refine it. Once the refinement happens, then go and launch in the ninth step, okay? Once you launch it again, you will have to keep a system in a way. You will have to reiterate as and when it's required for the user behavioral change totally. If you follow this 10 steps, guys, I'm telling you, you will have a product which will last for the people's for their lifetime value. Can you see Apple, can you see Amazon? These industries have created exactly the trigger points for the user by using some kind of a time sensitive pressure. When you go to Amazon, they say the offer ends at 12pm right? When you go for Apple, they have a minimalism, they have something like a aesthetics, they have something like very pointed what is the user required. They provide the value, they even keep mobile price for thousand dollars or maybe 1 lakh, 1.5 lakh. So still people go and buy it. So the value when it is being projected, people will not be able to hesitate to pay for that product or service. That is a successful, that is a successful nature of a designer. Because using the power of design, you can solve a problem or you can even create more problems. It's up to you. How do you want to use this emotional triggers task? See guys, emotionally connected users have 306 percentage higher lifetime value neuroscience wise. It activates your limbic system. It improves your memory and decision making. Whenever they think about mobile, they'll think about Apple. Whenever they think about using a fitness app, they'll think about your fitness app. So whenever people think about the particular brand that will be coming to you.
