Jagadeesh P shares twelve techniques and AI tools designed to boost creative output for designers. The methods cover practical approaches to overcome creative blocks and leverage technology for faster ideation and execution.
Foreign. I'm going to tell you 12 creative methods how we can able to increase your creativity at least 100x faster. And I'm also going to teach you some AI tools what is required to become more of it. Okay, so if you wanted to increase your creativity being a designer, you may be doing lot more things, guys. You may be doing like let's say sketching ideation techniques. You may be learning from a lot of videos, but this podcast is going to be a one stop solution for you. If you pay close attention and listen to what we are discussing here, this is going to at least give you an impact. In just one day. If you practice any one of the method, whatever we are discussing, I'm going to teach you 12. But if you apply one to your real time projects, you will see the difference happening. Okay, with this context, let's jump into this podcast. Welcome guys, welcome. Thank you for staying tuning here in this Design for change. And Design for change is being communicated to across 40 different countries and lot of thousands of downloads are happening across the world. I thank you for this overwhelming response and also spread a word to your friends and other people who may be very interested in learning design and creativity a lot. Okay, so every single day we've been publishing content and we are in a hundred day YouTube live challenge and we are in the day 45. And in this day we have taught something very deeper called how we can able to increase your creativity ability by activating your prefrontal cortex a lot. If you want to see a very deep video, I would recommend you to go to my YouTube live and put this keywords. You will find this then. Okay, before it is becoming unlisted, kindly watch this YouTube live because this will not stay for long. Before we remove the content, please go and watch it out. It's kept for public. Okay, let's talk about the 12 techniques first. First is rapid ideation exercise. So what is this rapid ideation exercise? Jagdish. You can use like 10 minutes brainstorming session for a particular user problem. It's a very simple fair technique, guys. Okay, so set a timer, brainstorm that for a particular user problem and do it, whatever you're able to do it. Document it in a paper or document it in a digital format or use some sticky notes or anything like that. Okay, so tools per se. You can use 3M brand for sticky notes. You can use Copic markers for sketching. You can use Staedtler pens for sketching out some ideas. You can use Luxor diary and classmate notebooks These are like very high quality notebooks and materials and sketch pens and pens. You can able to use it. Okay, you can go to Amazon, Flipkart, order these things. You can get it immediately in two, three days.
Okay.
The second thing, what I wanted to tell you is user scenario creation. Create a role play as a different Persona to explore diverse ideas and interactions. What is possible to think about from a user perspective and create that. See, when you do a role playing, your empathy becomes high, you become lot of creative and bring those ideas. Okay, this is the second technique. Third rapid problem solving challenge. See, this is very interesting, guys. When you're working as a team, you can set a problem statement, give your team a problem. And the objective for doing this technique is it improves your thinking ability in a more accelerated way. This like, this is a very crazy technique, guys. When you do it as a team, it promotes you at least 10 to 20x faster your thinking process. What will happen if you do like this way? It will improve your confidence, guys. Because confidence if you have in creativity automatically the ideas, what you're going to produce will be excellent. And when you're collaborating, you get even more confident.
Okay.
There is a podcast called Creative Confidence by David Kelly and Tom Kelly. Like they were founders of ideo. It's a very good podcast, guys. You can listen to those materials as well.
Okay.
When you're traveling, when you're doing any kind of a monotonous, you can able to listen and learn parallelly when you're doing.
Okay.
I would also recommend my podcast because my podcast helps you in learning your pain areas and whatever you're stuck. If you want to improve your skill set a lot. Okay. Of course I have to tell about my podcast as well, but yeah, you can choose. Learning comes from anywhere. Not a problem. Okay, so the fourth technique, what I would like to tell you is collaborative storyboarding. Most interesting thing, guys. See, whenever you're creating a problem statement, kindly write it as a description and add all of the team members or maybe each of the team members or maybe your. If you're working in a student level partnership where two, three people are working with you. Add each of the people a frame for the user storyboard, whatever you're creating. Okay. Create a normal storyboard for the user journey and ask them, try to add one idea for that. Encourage all of them to come and collaborate and give their ideas. Okay, what will happen if each and every one of them puts their ideas? It will create a lot of creative impact and you will see lot of dots getting connected. It's not only your idea coming in picture, other people will also show their idea and you also show your idea. And other people will think creatively in that particular problem statement and definition and automatically you will be producing a far more different output. This is the objective of doing collaborative storyboarding. You write a storyboard, you create a frame, you ask each one of them to contribute their ideas and you will see collectively different, different ideas coming. Okay, this is the, this is another technique. The, the fifth technique, what I'll tell you is called what if brainstorming.
Okay.
Each and every idea, when you're having post a question like what if, what if this happens? What if that happens? What if this not so use some wise comments. And the thing is you only ask questions, not apart from this. Okay, so what if only wise comments were allowed and not others? You push your boundary, guys. If you do this method, you tend to be far more creative because when you question your own idea, your problem statement, you go beyond the box, you go beyond this conventional thinking. And I'll tell you, this expands your creativity to insanely different level guys and you will be a good flexible guy to adopt and you'll be coming out of this traditionality. Okay, this is called what if brainstorming. The fifth ideation technique is design sprint stimulation simulation. Okay, you can have something like a sprint. Let me complete ideation, let me complete prototype, let me complete solution, let me do testing. When you have this kind of a sprint, you automatically come into a time frame and it creates your real world problem solving under the pressure. You have the pressure of timeline which you'll have to complete. Today is ideation, tomorrow is testing, tomorrow is research. Tomorrow, the next day is already about completing the project. So when you have that discipline, you have that design sprint simulation happening within your mind and what will happen. This will give you a lot of hands on experience, guys, particularly if you're working in a team. And then if you drive your team in this way, you'll be far more creative. Okay, and the seventh technique is sketching marathon. Beautiful technique. You can use 30 minutes kitchen sprint. You can practice like let's say if you wanted a very quick ideation, you can able to practice this 30 minutes. Let's catch on. Instruct your team, instruct your teammates automatically. What will happen is when you're producing one idea, two idea, you will be really bored. When you have something like a marathon for 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 15 minutes, whatever is your time comfort, you will be able to produce far more different ideas. Guys, that is the whole point. In doing that, it will. It will increase your ideation towards like a diverse exploration. What happens? You will be exploring in a multiple direction, guys. That is the objective.
Okay.
The eighth technique is role playing. You act as a different guy. You try to do a kind of a cinematic act or like a stage artist and then you perform. What if I throw my dustbin like this way? If you're designing some kind of a dustbin for your user. What if I create this method of throwing? What will the user go through when they're throwing this? Oh, these are all the problems the user is going through. Let me now create some ideas for it. Okay. If the dustbin has been exposed, like let's say if it has been transferred to another area. How will the pregnant ladies do it? How will the age old ladies will do it? How will the age old men and women will do it? Let me act like an age old men and let me try to dispose this dustbin. Then you will come to know what are the problems. Then you ideate what happens. You will be able to far more empathetic and it improves your user centric design. What happens? You go into the need of the problem and then you solve it. Okay, so the tenth technique. The ninth technique is Scamper. Scamper is like a substitute. Combine, add, modify, put to use eliminate, reverse. There is a specific podcast I've recorded for Scamper. You can able to listen to it guys. Because if I talk about it, it'll take another 10, 15 minutes. Okay, so you can listen to that. It's a beautiful technique prevalently used. Okay. The tenth technique is creative constraint game. You try to create one constraint for you. Like let's say. Let me use only two colors for this website. Let me use only. Let me use only three icons for this logo design. Let me use only three shapes for this icon. What happens if you create some kind of a boundary for you? You tend to become more creative inside it. The more creative will happen when you are constraining with yourself. When you are completely going without any kind of boundaries and constraint, you will be stuck. You will not ideate much. But when you ideate with that constraint. Let me use only two colors. Let me use only two shapes for my logo. Let me use only sticks for this diagram. What happens? You will be like crazy guys.
Okay.
And the 11th technique is reverse engineering workshop. You try to reconstruct a particular app. Like let's say Flipkart. Like let's say Amazon. Like let's say Swiggy. Can you reconstruct it and go back to the entire root why this application is being produced. The moment when you reconstruct it, you tend to create analytical logic and you improve your analytical skill and improving your design choice based on that. What will happen if you do that? You will go far deeper in understanding the rationale behind why the designers have taken okay, and there is something called 12th technique Blind drawing excise. If you're completely stuck on all the ideas, close your eyes and start sketching blindly. You will see some patterns emerging and that becomes a far more different idea. Okay, so this improves your ability towards interfacing when you're blindfolded and it improves your non verbal communication and other things verbal communication and descriptive abilities and it will increase your design thinking ability in a far more different way. Use all these techniques or use this in a combined way. Guys, whatever is the point, use it, practice it until it locks as a habit. Because if it doesn't happen like a habit or a practice continuously, this techniques will never work. Don't think one time you will do and you will become a master. Sometimes you will have to use multiple techniques, sometimes you will have to do only one technique. Sometimes you will have to do multiple times to practice that one skill until it becomes habit for you. Like the scamper method, let's say the role playing method. This is a rapid sketching. So in this podcast write me what are the top three takeaways for it and tell me one technique which you are very favorite among this 12 and what you're going to take action for it. I'll be making sure I'll be following it up with you guys. Just email me to the connectdesignforchange.com Jagdish I would like to practice this one technique and I've created some idea around it. I will read your sketches, I will read your ideas and then I'll revert back to you guys. No matter how much ever reply comes to me, I'll be more than happy to do because if you're listening to this podcast and taking action, definitely you're very serious about your design career and I will be making sure I'll be replying to you with some improvements and suggestion guys. Okay, thank you so much for listening to this podcast. Give me a best star rating if you find this useful in Spotify and Apple and subscribe for getting further in episodes as well and spread a word to your friends. Thank you so much. Take care. All the best. Bye bye.
