I need some help in portfolio to get it aligned, to get it refined, to make sure it's aligning to industry standard. Jagdish, can you help me? This is the one and only thing I hear from more than 80% of the students. Okay, so this particular podcast is going to help you how you can not get stuck and how you can, how you can move on in your portfolios and how you can really make a successful career in design and majorly. This podcast is going to give you a clarity on why this is really a misconception. Stuck in portfolio. These are repeated words people say, not even knowing what is really designed. And they are things simply thinking, I'm stuck in portfolio. Okay, so with this intention and with this context, we are going to move into this particular podcast to give you the five different steps of how you can build a successful career and excellent portfolio to really get hired. Okay, let's dive deep into this topic. Guys, welcome. Guys, welcome, welcome. Good morning and this is Jagdish. Thank you for staying tuning in me in Design for Change podcast. So this particular podcast is going to give you clarity on why people say they're stuck in portfolio. See guys, let me tell you one thing. Portfolio is a process. It's not an outcome. It's a process of continuously showing and updating your work or showing your learning intention or showing that your thirst for growing and development of your career. If you're not reflecting that in your portfolio, if you think that is a one time activity, then you're really lazy. Then your mindset needs to be changed. First of all, I got stuck in portfolio, but everything is ready itself shows that you're not really understood the process of design and creativity field properly. You're just thinking that you, you make your ready, your resume, your curriculum and then you will get a job. No, this is not how it works. Okay, you need to change that thought. You need to remove that thought and install a new thought of lifelong learning process. Okay, so this. How should I bring that? That brings me to the second point. First of all, go and get a very good chart paper in your nearest store. Okay? Get good sketch pens, pencils, highlighters, sticky notes, everything. Okay? Just do it, guys. Write down your big achievements in your life. Write down your big failures in your life. Write down your successful moments, write down your emotional moments, what triggered you to learn design in a more extensive way. Okay? Do it live. If you do Hands on activity live only. You'll come to know and you will write about yourself. I do it with my students live in my particular program, mentoring. And I'll make them to choose which they can put it in their resume, projects, portfolio and what not to put. And then you will have a clarity to build your resume first. Before building a portfolio, build your resume. See, if you do this process, you will never feel stuck. Okay? The feeling of stuck comes. It's some kind of incompleteness is there inside your mind. So this is how you clarify that you go from the basics of you, not from outside, okay? Not from falling for Behance or Pinterest or some kind of a lemon ocean dribble and all these fancy cool UI stuffs. People create world class portfolio. Stop these words in your mind. This is not going to help you anywhere. Create your own way. Start from your achievements, your own personal story. What made you learn design? What made you come into this field. And then build your resume. First let it be a 10 page resume. No problem. Put all your achievements, your failures, your your achieve, your medals, your awards from your childhood, from the moment you are born. If you're not able to get it, talk to your best five friends, talk to your best five relatives. Talk to your mom, dad, talk to your siblings, talk to your cousin. So you will get a clarity of who you are from other person also and also from yourself majorly. When you're able to do it properly, then you can structure your projects accordingly. Okay, this is my bachelor's project. This is my school project. This is my freelance project. What I did. Oh, this is just like that. I did it here. It's not even a project. Put everything here. You know, you will have to build a big reservoir of your informations and data. And then when you complete the second step, now think about how you can present it. See, this is very important guys. You need not have to always build a website. That's also good. I'm not saying it's bad. You don't have to always build a ppt. You don't have to always build a Behance profile. You can first think how you can project your way. Let's say if I'm a photo shoot guy, okay. If I'm a marriage album photoshoot guy, marriage wedding photography guy. I don't need to always have a website. I need to have a physical photo album with me. So that if I go to my clients, I can show them live. When they see it live physically touch the album, they'll give me orders, right? For his scenario, Portfolio is different. See guys, you need to get results. What is your goal? You need to get hired. What is your goal? You need to pitch for a business client. What is your goal? You need to pitch for the client to get more project objectively define your final goal and then choose a medium to do. Don't just always make websites. Don't just always make behind profiles. Okay, so think about. You can do it in PPT also, you can do it in Google Slides also. It's as simple as that. You can do it in Word also and convert it into a PDF and you can transmit to many people. That's totally fine based on your achievements, based on your story, based on your design output and the projects and whatever you have. See, you can have live projects, you can have dummy projects, you can do real projects. That's totally fine based on all these elements. Choose your medium properly. You can build websites in hours and days. Guys, in website, in Wix, in Squarespace. Squarespace webflow is a little bit paid. Wix has a very free account. You can do it. I always recommend for my students. You can create Behance Profile, you can create Adobe Portfolio. It's very simple. You can create a WordPress website also. So these are all the simple ways you can start putting. You can open a Facebook page or an Instagram page to post your pictures. Guys, even you could have solved a little problem of your table. Let's say if your table is not in a proper condition, let's say if you fixed your table and then you properly glued it with a Favicol and then you painted here and there and then you can take that picture and upload it. That becomes a project. You can show that, hey, this particular moment made me think like a problem solver. People will be impressed with the raw material, guys, not with your fancy stuffs. Remember that. That's why going and doing the second step and mind mapping yourself is very important to derive that particular aspect. And then once you choose the medium to present it. Now go to a thought of removing stuck. You need to install it with fresh affirmations. This is very important step, guys, a lot of people don't do it. They complete a course, they complete a design degree, they complete an internship. But still they say, hey, my portfolio is stuck. Hey, I. I just need a help in portfolio. Hey, I'm just making portfolio. If I hear students say this, no, if I'm a recruiter, I will never hire these people because these people will not learn anything new. They'll only build their Portfolios, they will not learn the process. They will not. Even. Even if you don't have project, even if you don't have anything, you can build your portfolio, guys. Yes, it's possible. You can show your achievements in your past, in your school days, in your college days. That's enough. Portfolio is a reflection of you and your behavior. Simple. If you don't understand this intention, then you will always be in that field of stuck. Stuck. I'm stuck in portfolio. I just need a refinement. These thoughts are coming. When it comes to your income, it shows your incompleteness. Change that. Install a thought. I am the best guy. Even if you have one project in your portfolio, you tell hey, I have the best portfolio skill in the world. I have the best project in the world. I have the best medium website in my hand. I have a best medium which is in the b halts. I have a best project showcase and this is my best have this thoughts installed. Tell I am the best. I am happier. One of my mentor taught this affirmation to install in your mind when you wanted to become that person, right? How do you become that person? One way is to become that person reality and then you become a celebrity. And then you have that mindset. Second way is recreate that thought as if you are the personality, as if you are the celebrity. As if you are the best portfolio maker in the world. And then you say it again and again and again. You attract that circumstances, you attract that people who can help you build that portfolio. You attract that best medium which can build that website. You attract that best information. What you get it? You also attracted to become a best portfolio maker. That's why you're hearing this podcast. Or else you would have left it when you seen the heading. Or else you would have left it in one or two minutes, you would have stayed in this eighth, ninth minute. That means you are actually trying to do that. So when you affirm it, you will attract more best people to give you more inputs to make the best portfolio in the world. And then you move along continuously. Fourth step is affirmation. Very important. Fifth step is take action. Do it, do it, do it. All these four steps is fine unless until you don't take action, nothing comes up. Okay? If you want to change your life, you need to take action and take action now. Not just hearing a podcast, reading a book, watching a YouTube, talk to different designers and then leave. Okay? See guys, when you say I'm the best portfolio maker, I'll do it. I'm the best portfolio maker. I'll do it. I'm the best guy in the world who can make the best project presentation. You know what unique graphics will come into your portfolio. Unique ideas will come into your problems. Uniqueness will come into your entire portfolio and that will get you hired or that will get you pitched for a different client and that will get you a big project investment and that will even win a big job or even client or even business pitching. Everything will happen when your intentions are clear. Okay, just to reiterate, don't just think portfolio is a one time activity. It is a process. Even if you go for five years experience, 10 years experience, you need to continuously update that. You need to have that mindset or else you will feel only one time. How many people are still not develop their portfolio after their college? They are stuck. They will not move. Second is mind map your entire achievements about you. Third is choose a medium to represent it accordingly. Fourth is remove that feeling of stuck and install affirmation. I am the best portfolio maker in the world. I'm doing the best thing. Fifth is take action. Then you will see lot many unique things coming in your way. Guys. Okay, thank you so much guys.
