How to beat overthinking

James Lim argues that overthinking thrives on delay. When an idea hits, act on it immediately or schedule it. Most major risks are already obvious, so trust yourself and move.

If you're not an overthinker, keep scrolling. And if you don't have ideas you want to explore, this probably isn't for you either. It's late at night, you come up with an idea, Next day, you talk yourself out of it. No progress. You're stuck in this never ending mental loop. And it's frustrating because you desperately want to learn and grow. But this overthinking thing ruins everything. I've been there and it stopped me so many times. When you give yourself too much time, you overthink, over analyze and doubt yourself, making it harder to act. But the more you try and solve this and figure out why you overthink, the more thinking you're doing, which makes it worse. Focus solely on reducing the time gap between your thought and your action, and over time, you'll propel your personal progress more than you can imagine. As soon as you think of something that pushes you in a direction of progress, either act on it immediately or schedule it directly into your calendar. But what about the risks? If you overthink, you're already a pro level risk assessor. Major risks you've seen a mile away. You've covered more than enough. It's time to let go. No more questions, no excuses, just action which will unlock the growth you've been waiting for.
