We change when we cannot tolerate the situation we are in any longer. If the pain of staying the same is not worse than the pain of taking action, then you will likely not act and remain where you are. Your situation will probably need to get worse for you to do anything about it, but instead you distract yourself with videos, social media, Netflix or to master pain, prolonging the process. You might think your situation is bad, but it can usually get a lot worse. And whether you know it or not, it often is. But slowly. Remember, we change when we cannot tolerate the situation we are in any longer. This is why we hear so many stories of people making drastic changes when they've hit rocks bottom. The breakup, the loss, the diagnosis, the final straw. We all have our own version of this. If you want to change, you need to get your head out of the sand, face the reality of the situation, feel the pain and take decisive action.
