P3 Renovate Yourself Renovate Your Wealth Closer Thank You Think

In this 90‑minute group coaching session, facilitator Jane Slack‑Smith leads participants through a series of experiential exercises designed to shift their relationship with wealth, time, and love. The core premise – “you’re closer than you think” – asserts that many people already possess the resources or conditions needed to achieve their desired life, but they are misled by conditioned expectations and a focus on external milestones. Jane shares a client story about a couple who believed they needed multiple properties before enjoying life, only to discover that selling one property would meet their goals. She then guides the group through a visualization exercise (imagining being the last person on Earth) to surface true needs, followed by a worksheet that maps desired outcomes (wealth, time, love) to concrete feelings and actions. Participants (Sharon, Lisa, Bailey, Rani, Sandra, Ursula, Guy) each articulate what they would gain from an abundance of wealth, time, or love, describe the emotions that would arise (e.g., peace, freedom, confidence), and explore how they would “turn up” in the world. The session repeatedly emphasizes moving from condition‑based goals (owning houses, earning money) to feeling‑based goals (relaxation, presence, generosity), encouraging participants to recognize they are already near their desired state and can choose to embody it now. Jane’s facilitation style is conversational, supportive, and uses guided questioning, transposition of worksheet answers, and group sharing to reinforce the insight that the path to fulfillment is less about acquiring more and more about aligning perception with existing reality.
Chapters
So the rest of the afternoon actually is, is pretty exciting. I love this bit because this is the good stuff. This is where we get the tools and we get all of the things that we need to, you know, really, um, be able to take this awareness that we have. And, you know, the awareness here is basically, you know, wealth is a direct result of your orientation. And now we can actually see there's an orientation that we can choose, which is our positive kind of expectations of our relationship with wealth, then we can move on and actually see where we are now so that we can position ourselves for what we want to achieve. So premise 3 is all about you're closer than you think. And I said there, wealth is an abundance of valuable assets resulting in all your needs being met. So what do you really need? And, you know, I come from this from a, I guess, a point of view that I've had an experience over the last few years where I've been able to work with a lot of people closely and intimately and get to know, you know, their plans and their goals and, and see, you know, what's been holding them back and, you know, what conditions they've set up. And by being really immersed in people's financial life and hence pretty much all of their lives, I get a sense of some of the stories that people are telling themselves. And I remember when I had just first kind of started out doing this, I'd spoken to an accountant who told me that he'd had an older gentleman and lady come in to work with him. And he said, you know, well, you know, you're at the retirement age, it's time to retire. And the guy's like, no, no, I just need to have a couple more properties. And the accountant said to the wife, for the first time for many years, you know, what is it you want? And she said, we've just struggled for so long so we can have these properties. And, you know, we haven't had an overseas holiday ever. And the accountant was just like, 'Well, wait a second, you've got this many properties. If you sold one, you could actually not just have the overseas holiday, you could have the car, you could have a holiday every year.' And the husband had got into the operating program of, 'I have to do the accumulation so that one day I'll have enough money to enjoy life.' They got to the point to enjoy life and they missed it. And it took a third person to go, 'Wait a second, you're already there.' And I had the opportunity, and I'll share with you the link to this full video, but I had an opportunity to work with one of my, um, one of my community. And, uh, we went through this exercise that we're going to go through a little bit later. And in that exercise, we talk about, you know, what the dream life is like, you know, what does that feel like. And we look at where it is, and we work out the cost of that life, and then we come back to now and say, well, what's the gap? And the thing that consistently surprises me— and I do maybe 2 or 3 of these a month— is that people are closer than they think. They've set this expectation that's so far away and seems so enormous, and they're working towards it and often working like hard. They're not doing it easily and effortlessly. They're working and trudging and exhausting, and it's stressful and it's hard. And they're getting closer and closer, but they've kind of missed the point that they're nearly there. And I'm just going to share with you this video that I have from a large video with Sharon. And we've just been through this whole exercise about how much life is going to cost her. And, um, you know, and she's She's really, um, just taking that on. So I'm going to share that with you. Let me know that you can see this and hear this.
Oh, okay, 100,000. It's 100,000.
Ah, yeah, okay.
I did feel quite deflated. I just don't think that we're ever going to be able to reach that figure. It feels like it's something that other people do, is to retire early, you know, have just space time and just the time to enjoy your family and friends. It couldn't ever be for me. You know, I'm one of life's worker bees.
Let's just have a look, show you. So if we said $100,000, so if we think about the portfolio that you have at the moment, so this gets us to the 1.8. So this is what I want to show you is that you're actually a lot closer than you think.
I was silent. I was just like, what?
Wait, what?
In my head, I was just, I couldn't kind of get it together because it just, it So there was a, like, yeah.
So you're there. So that vision that you created is almost there.
You can do it. All you've got to do is buy, you know, just this one last house and then you're set.
That's it.
You're good. You're golden. Like, you're done.
And I'm like, what? Really? How does that sound to you?
That's amazing.
That is so cool. That could be mine.
That awesome life you've just described can be mine. And all I have to do is just buy this one last little house. It was just so like, yes.
So I think this is really wonderful, right? Because this gets you a sense of, you know, someone who's gone through that realization they're closer than they think. And in her case, it was she thought she needed 4 or 5 houses to have this foundation for her to then get on and live the life she wanted. She'd set this condition of having this financial, um, responsibility. She used to cry herself to sleep, and her, her whole video explains this, cry herself to sleep because she would think that she had— was just so far away from where she needed to be that she was going to have to send her husband, who had given up his job and was following his dream of, you know, creating beautiful things, she was going to have to send him back to work. And she was in her head that, you know, this was just something that she couldn't have and it was so far away that they were going to have to sacrifice everything just to have that. And I think, you know, the really lovely thing about this is that there is— there comes a point where there's a realization that it's not all about money, right? Money allows you to do a lot of things that you want to do, but it's not always that. And in actual fact, you may actually be closer to be able to achieve what you want which might be to create something or to travel for yourself or to have a business or support others who have gone through something that you have had experience in and you can really support by understanding empathetically exactly where they are and give some authority to assisting them, that you can have this. And so what I would really love to do now is just try to connect with you of how close you are and what you really want. What does this wealth really mean for you? And, you know, I've got a little exercise that I'd love to take you through. And first of all, I just, you know, want to bring you, you know, just to, just to the moment and let just go of, you know, all we perceive, previous information that we've had, and, and your, you know, previous conditions or beliefs or stories and everything that we've come up with now. And I just want you to just close your eyes for a moment. And just imagine that you go to sleep tonight and the world is as it is today, and tomorrow you wake up and you are the last survivor on Earth. With some upset and loss and grief, you realize your friends and family aren't here, but in actual fact you're the last person on Earth, and all of the power is going, and electricity and water. There's everything that you need to survive, everything that you need. So just think about this. Where would you live? Would you live in that big house, the one that you have to keep clean heat? Or would you live in something smaller with maybe a little veggie patch? Do you need the fancy car? Do you need the fancy clothes? What do you really need? What's true for you? And when you have a moment, just pick up your pen and just write down, you know, what are the things that you truly want. This is all about you, not about making other people happy, getting other people's approval, having to work. Having to perform, having to turn up, having to be seen. No happenings. And when you've jotted down a few ideas, you got your juices going, I invite you to turn to the next page and the exercise that says, 'How much of your needs are actually based on what others think? Only you can meet your own needs. You don't need external validation to be complete.' So I've got down there a few things of how we would measure success? One's wealth, one's time, one's love. And I just invite, with your juices going about what you really want, you know, just drop down. When I have an abundance of wealth in my life, I will be able to have— and just 3 ideas. Maybe it's time to start my business. Maybe it's time to be a stay-at-home mom or dad. Maybe it's time to release myself from debt stress. Maybe it's something about being able to set your parents up. Just note down 3 things: when I have an abundance of wealth in my life, I will be able to have And then just move on to the next one if you have time and inclination. When I have an abundance of time in my life, I will be able to have— maybe it's have more time to concentrate on my health, maybe it's be able to volunteer. When I have more time, I'll be able to create something you were thinking of creating, make your side hustle your main hustle. Spend time with those you love. When I have an abundance of time in my life, I will be able to have— and then finally When I have an abundance of love in my life, I will be able to have— maybe that's something like feeling of peace, the end of a quest. I will feel not wanting This is where we get to play a little game. What I would love you to do is take the next sheet of paper, and all you're going to do is transfer what you've written down into this top section. So under wealth, you may have written, I have time to create my business, I have more time to— I have— I can stay at home with my kids, I can release stress debt. You're just going to replace those, transpose the ones that you wrote down the previous page across to this page into this top box. Does that make sense to everyone? So we're just going to replicate your initial answers. Let me know when you're done. We're just taking those initial answers off Page 18, and just transposing them to the first grid on the top of page 19. And what we're going to do is start fleshing those out a little bit. So let's take 1A from the wealth section, and I want you to look at the second box. That says, how will you feel when you have that? So someone give me an example of 1A that they've written down. Yeah, Lisa? I wrote, uh, I would have time to travel and do art. Great. So when we move down to this second box down here, so we're going down here now, 1A, how would How will you feel when you have time to travel and do art? How would that make you feel? Ah, like I can breathe. Lovely. And if we flick over to the other page and the 1A over there, how will you be? How will you turn up? What will be your end result when you can breathe? Um, I'll just be relaxed. Just be relaxed and at peace. Yeah. So what you really want is just to be relaxed and at peace. Yeah. Who else would like to share? I want a Yeah, Bailey. Freedom from tasks I don't enjoy. Nice. Yeah, vacuuming came to mind. Yeah. And so if you're wealthy and it can free you from the tasks you don't enjoy, how does that make you feel? Lighter. So very similar, just kind of like, uh, like, you know, just like free. Yep. Yeah. So if that makes you feel free, once you feel free and lighter and you're relieved of these tasks you don't enjoy, how will you turn up? How will you be? I would be authentically expressed, you know, like it's just kind of free to be, really. So even just when I say how would I be, it's like I would be able to just be. I think it's you being present, it's what comes to me. Yeah, be completely present, right? Yeah, nothing to do Yeah, love that. In the future or not happy in the now. Who else has a 1A you'd like to share? Yeah, Rani. Um, I had health. Um, you know, I should really qualify that with great health. So when you have, uh, wealth, what will you have? I'll have, um, so what was the 1A that you wrote down initially? When I have an abundance of wealth in my life, I will be able to have great health. Great health. Great. And how will that make you feel? It would make me feel more confident. More active. Okay. And I could do more things. Yep. And same, more seen. Say that again. More seen. Yeah, yeah, actually I haven't thought about that. Yes, yes, yes. And when you have that sense of, you know, you have the you have the wealth so you can have the health, so you can be more confident and turning up and being seen completely. You know, how, how will you be? How will you turn up in the world, you know, when you're in that end result? I feel more vibrant. Yeah, more vibrant, more passionate about life. And I get— I just get a sense that you'd be deeply in your heart, right? You would be completely authentically, you know, whole. Yeah. Mhm. Yes. Thank you. Yeah. So can you see how this works? I just, I just want to draw out the fact that, you know, we see this abundance, we see, you know, wealth means something to us that we're actually questing for, and we've, we've identified something that represents that for us. So we identify, for instance, our wealth might be, I can travel. But what does the travel really give you? The travel just gives you time to breathe, to just, you know, explore the world without restrictions. And so what does that give you? That just gives you a sense of peace and relaxing. So we feel that we have to get the wealth so that we can travel, so we can breathe, so we can relax. But could we choose to just relax? Are we actually closer to that? Do you have to be somewhere else or have something to be able to just feel peaceful and relaxing? Is there a time that you can go to where you just sat down with a cup of tea and just relaxed and went So I invite you to go to the next one, which is time. And if anyone wants to share their, their time example, we can have a look at that as well. Yeah, Sandra, beautiful Sandra! So glad.
I'm surprised I wrote this, but, um, but I have— if I have abundance of time, I would like to write a novel.
There you go. And tell me, if you wrote a novel, how would that make you feel?
I feel like it will tap into a side of me that I don't get to tap into as much. So fully expressed, fully expressed, fully creative, fully, um, no, it's not about business or anything on that side of me.
It's so selfish, right?
Yeah.
Look at you doing something for yourself. I love it. And so how will you be? How will you turn up? You, you know, you have an abundance of time, you're writing this novel, you're fully expressed and creative. How are you going to end up turning up in the world?
Like, like, I'm, I'm, I mean, I know I live in the presence, but I feel like I'll be more present. Because I have to, I guess, be in that zone and have focus and have, you know, and be— I'll be— I feel like I have the freedom to really, real freedom. Yeah, yeah.
So you're turning up free, and I just get a sense you're turning up whole, like you're not closing half of you off, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Not that I—
none of that ever felt like I was half a person, but it's amazing when you say abundance of time, it's like, oh, okay, that's what I really want to do.
Yeah. And, and it may not just be that you need to write the novel. Maybe it's just the fact that you need to tap into— you don't even need to do anything. Maybe this is just an opportunity for you explore creative side that's not all business. And not all head, and a bit heart. And what's that give you? Gives you flow and presence and focus, you know, rather than do, do, do.
Yeah, yep.
Lovely, thank you.
Thanks, thanks, Jane.
Would anyone like to share their another time? Yeah, Ursula.
I wrote the first as spending time with family and friends.
Nice. Yep. So what does spending more time with family and friends— how does that make you feel?
Peaceful, connected, excited, harmonious. Like really connected.
And it's almost like, uh, I, I just get that there is a, a release from guilt of not having time. Yeah, it's almost like this real release, right? When you— how you feel, this is this You know, there's no expectations. And yeah, when you have that more time, that abundance of time with family and friends, and it makes you feel connected and excited and harmonious and peaceful, how's that allow you to show up in the world?
Like, very, um, very like harmonious, the word comes, like, you know, in harmony with myself, with the world, with people. At the same time, really passionate and focused and connected, like strongly connected with everything. Fulfilled.
What about calm? Does the word calm—
Yeah, peaceful.
Yeah. It's just, it's, you know, you show up in a real kind of wizened woman calmness that, you know, people are attracted to you and you just have this, this magnetic connection.
Yeah, I, I keep that image comes often as this kind of magnet, like magnetic me, because I have so much There's this special energy that, that I, uh, send, or it's around me, that people want to have some of that. And they, they know, they want to know how to, to have similar energy. And that's how I help. I help.
And, and that's having that abundance of time gives you the space to give them the space. And so, you know, with this premise around you're actually closer than you think, we are creating more work or more stress at work to get the better job and the, you know, the more hours or whatever it is so that you can then have the time to have with family and friends. But to do that, you're taking yourself away from it. And by actually just connecting with what you will have and how you will be how you will be and how you turn up, you can choose to just do that. So can you just choose to turn up calmly when you have the time with your family and friends? Yep. Yeah, rather than I need to have the money, the job, the whatever, the ever, to be then have the time to do it. You see how we can almost just jump to the end? We don't have to go through the When I have— haves. Does anyone want to share love? When I have an abundance of love in my life. Yeah, Guy.
Um, I've got community, sense of belonging.
And so, and how would that make you feel?
That would make me feel a sense of goodwill and joy. Yeah, sense of generosity, generosity of spirit.
It's like the cup is full of— yeah, overflow. And how will you turn up in the world when you have that, you know, Full of love and, you know, full of joy and generosity of spirit.
Uh, generous and trusting.
Trusting?
Yeah.
As in trusting other people?
Yeah, yeah. And trusting myself too.
Yeah. So letting down the barriers and just being open. Yeah, Rach, I see you nodding there. Yes, yes. And I think it's, it's really important, like, how you do anything's how you do everything, right? So your relationship to, uh, wealth and time and love— if you get to the last page, you know, a lot of the same things should come up in what you really want or how you will turn up in the world. When I have an abundance of time, when I have an abundance of wealth, when I have abundance of love, I turn up fully expressed, willing to share vulnerably and bring people with me on a journey of self-exploration and looking at the impossible and the infinite wisdom of the universe, you know. And so this allows you to, to kind of start looking at and identifying potentially the conditions, because you possibly gets closer than you thought you were to actually having everything that you could want, or you don't have to have the condition first and you just choose to turn up how you would like to turn up. Lisa, are you talking to me or someone else? And so there's a couple of questions there. What do you want to have the most? Guy, do you have any thoughts there? When you look at all of these things, you know, what, what really comes to you? What is that sense of absolute fullness when you're fully, you know, living from your truth, your heart.
Yes, it's, it's the passion. It's that sense of, um, being motivated, passionate, awake, alive to the potential, and filled with gratitude. Sense of fully alive.
Beautiful. And just note down, you know, for yourself what feeling means the most to you. Is it, you know, the, the peace, or is it the joy? Is it, you know, what is that feeling that really connects you to everything that you want? Because this is the emotion when things do get a bit tough, or you do get caught up in the stories, or in the you know, the choices or the reservations that come up, and, you know, the default comfortable lifestyle, you know, tapping into that feeling that you really want when you fully turn up, fully express, fully generous, fully, you know, in your truth, of living your truth and without the shackles of conditions, you know. How do you want to feel? And tap into that feeling and connect to that. And how do you want, you know, how do you want to be? And just ask yourself, can you hack it? Can you just jump to the end result now? Can you create something in your day, in your life, in your week that gets you that? And maybe it's just a gift of giving yourself a walk in the park or a massage, or a bath, or an opportunity to, you know, drop in and see a different friend, or a phone call, or that connection when it's— there's no expectations. And just note down on the bottom of that sheet, you know, what can you commit to now to potentially showing up in that way that you want to show up? And are you actually closer than you thought you were? Is it just a choice?
