Many people call their goals just action steps toward something bigger. Netflix's Jewish Matchmaker points out that people say "finding my person" is the goal, but they don't have the skills to keep a relationship alive once they find one.

99% of the time, I really do believe this number, that we've actually— what we call a goal is really just an action step.
That's so good. And therefore, yeah, go on. And it just all goes back to, did I not dream big enough? Like, what, this is an action, or this was the actual goal, or this was just a rung on the ladder but that wasn't the top of the ladder? Where's the top? What's like 10x it. Okay, now that's just a step. Oh, that's only step number 27, right? They made that the goal, right?
They make like finding their person the goal, but then, okay, well then do you know how to be in a relationship?
